Chiropractors use to scare me. How do you put your trust into someone who can manipulate your spine and possibly do more harm than good? I had to go to one years ago because of an injury. Once they fixed me up enough, I left and didn’t even think of going back. It wasn’t a great experience. Last summer, I was having some issues with my hip that I ignored for months, but once it traveled to my knee, I knew I needed to do something. A friend recommended Dr. J. She went to him and even trusted him with her teenage boys. Nothing else was working for me, so I thought I would give him a try, and I am so glad I did! To start, he wouldn’t even touch me without me getting a spinal x-ray (and made this very convenient for me to do) – trust established. I just wanted my hip and knee to get better fast, but after reviewing my x-ray and taking a heat scan of my spine, he asked me several questions, like – Do you sleep well? (no, but who does) Do you get headaches? (sure, but who doesn’t) How’s your weight loss journey? (awful, but I’m 48 and things have slowed down for me). When he explained to me he can help fix all of these as well as make my hip and knee feel better, I thought what could I lose! I slowly started to feel better AND sleep better. With those two things aligned, my exercise increased (because I actually felt good), which in turn, helped me to keep some of my food cravings at bay. Oh and the headaches – good-bye! Eight months later, 26lbs down, I am on my way to a much healthier life. I’m continuing to see Dr. J on a weekly basis for maintenance and wouldn’t have it any other way. His open-office environment makes it so easy to get in and out in a matter of minutes. I kid you not – no formal appointment necessary! He may be a chiropractor by trade, but to me, he is a healing guru!
