I didn't have a regular chiropractor that I went to, so when I was in a car accident I looked around. Gray was one of the ones that came up. They were able to get me in right away, which I appreciated because I was very tense and sore from being rear-ended. Once I got to the clinic, I was asked to take off my shoes. Taking off my shoes does not bother me since I regularly attend a yoga studio, but the clinic was not clean and all the staff were wearing shoes. I was then asked to complete a mountain of paperwork since I was in a car wreck, including documents that basically gave Gray Chiropractic a blank check to send to the insurance any amount they deemed fit to charge. Dr. Gray told me not to worry about the blank check document "because the insurance will pay." I received a consult, Dr. Gray took x-rays, then informed me that he would put together a care plan that we could review at a later date. He then directed me to move to the table to be aligned - why would I be aligned if the plan of care wasn't created? I denied the services. While I checked out I asked for a services price list. They didn't have one, although required by municipal law, and the receptionist informed me that she would chat with Dr. Gray and follow up with me. I asked that the information be emailed to me so that I could receive it in writing and reference it later. "The office doesn't email and has no email system because of confidentiality purposes."
Fast forward to today when I'm getting a call from my insurance about the bill from Gray Chiropractic - $1100. For a consult and x-rays. This is the exact problem with Alaska's health care system.
If you're looking for a professional space and a chiropractor that isn't going to scam you for money "because insurance will pay for it", don't go to Gray Chiropractic.
