Place is a local favorite. Atmosphere is good but the food is very expensive and not very good. Every time we come here we leave thinking it wasn't worth the money. Service was good and the sides were great. Ribs were dry but tasted good.

First off, the place has a great atmosphere. It has a bar, nice decor, fun lighting styles, etc. It is fun to be inside. The waitstaff is knowledgeable, kind, courteous, and positive. I enjoyed my time there. The downsides are the food and experience of the waitstaff. The food is very well advertised and is talked of very highly. But there is a serious lack of flavor with almost everything. I ordered the brisket burger. Each flavor was present (beef, bacon, brisket, etc) but it was lacking. The beef was bland, the brisket was meh, the bacon was bacon, and the use of toppings was a bit strange. A full slice of an onion? Seriously? The flavor profile was very unbalanced and I wasn’t a huge fan. The buns were pretty good though. The sides I ordered were mixed. The main turnoff for me was the confusing menu. With a burger, you get 2 sides. Each burger listing says that house fries are included. A relatively quick look over the menu leaves one thinking that the burgers come with a side of fries and that’s it. That wasn’t the case I learned when the waitress had to explain such. For my sides, I ordered onion rings apart from the fries. Those were quite good but the fries didn’t come out with the burger and the waitress didn’t notify me of their delayed delivery. Upon asking was I notified. Other than that, it was a smooth night. Also, the brisket Mac n cheese tastes bland and has the texture and consistency of being microwaved.

Our wings were smoke flavored, period. The salad bar needs help, maybe offer a variety of greens. The toast for my sandwich wasn't toasted on both slices. Overall it was disappointing. However, I would move to Gillette to chase our waitress around if I was single and younger. Samantha is beautiful.

Pokey's had decent customer service, first bites of brisket was moist, the pulled pork was dry & terrible aftertaste and ribs were black & hard also being end of day the ribs too. Cleaning crew dropped some cups on the floor & then put them back on the rack for customers to use. Very loud music for a BBQ restaurant. Expensive visit & will not be back and don't recommend.

Staff was nice, they have a nice salad bar, but I wasn't given a bowl for soup. We split a half rack of ribs, no extra cost for the split. The ribs were slightly over done, but had good flavor. This was a spontaneous side trip. Not a wow, but glad we stopped.

This place is just ok to me. Their sauce not great to my taste. The ribs that I received were not well separate so I had to do some work with a butter knife. To much work for average reward. Don't even know that ribs should be separated.

Not Good. We ordered Delmonico Steaks.mine tasted like it was frozen and thawed on the grille. Tough and grainy on one side, ok on the other side. The steak was not a good cut of meat with 40 % fat. I get better steaks at the three other steak houses in town. Do yourself a favor dont waste your time and money there at Pokeys.

Nice place, food was OK, but not great. Prime Rib Vegetable soup was great! Service left a lot to be desired, Josie was our server. Never asked how the food was, didn't check on drinks till we were done, didn't offer dessert, in short took our order brought our food and then left us. Mac & Cheese has peppers in it, didn't expect that, but otherwise ok Tater Salad made with pickles, again not our thing but ok Brisket soft and juicy. Would rather have more meatiness to it. We'd go back and try again with some different foods. Atmosphere was quite neat

We were given high recommendations on this place so being from out of town we wanted to enjoy a family meal for the first time in months. At first everything was perfect our server was a delight. Then our food arrived mine was fine my husbands steak (ribeye) was extremely over cooked so we informed our server she got it handled quickly. The manager (blonde female) cane over and was extremely rude and unprofessional giving us dirty looks. My husband then said not to worry about the steak, then they bring out another steak (sirloin) at that point we asked our server why it was brought since we told the manager we didn’t want it since her attitude ruined our experience, the manager returned and was again rude and unprofessional she walked away with a dirty look. Never again will we return to this place.

I had the brisket. It was good. The salad bar had a very good variety of choices and they were very fresh. The biscuits and potato chips were good also. I didn't care for the potato salad, just my taste probably. I also had the fried tomatoes, too much salt in the breading, couldn't eat them.

We like to try local restaurants while we are traveling and this place has really good reviews.....the food was terrible, the salad bar wasn't too bad but the plates they gave us to us were tiny. It has a lot of potential, I think they need to trim the menu down and focus on smoking good meat. They had some interesting exotic meats on the menu, but you should probably get brisket and chicken right before you try to do kangaroo or python.

Came here for a weekday lunch with some coworkers while visiting from out of town. I guess just because a place is in the middle of nowhere doesn't necessarily mean anyone there can make good bbq. The food was mediocre and the service was terrible. The restaurant wasn't particularly busy, but it took the waitress 15 minutes to come to our table to take our order. When it arrived the meat was cool and dry.

Amazing service!! Caitlyn was a doll, and so so nice. I'm really only even rating this place 3 stars because of her. The salad bar is pretty good, and we had the Mountain Man Mushrooms which were not as advertised but very tasty. The BBQ, however, was absolutely disappointing. The smoked turkey and smoked ham tasted like your average cured deli meat. The pulled pork didn't taste like real smoked pork shoulder-- it tasted like liquid smoke had been added. Very disappointed in the state of the BBQ, which is a shame because they have a great selection of beer and a lot of other good looking items on the menu.

Amazing from the word smoked! We got the BBQ sampler for 4 (honestly for 6 if you're not a big eater but have a crowd). The sauce is top notch and the atmosphere is in line with a proper western BBQ restaurant. Nice salad bar and biscuits that put a certain sea food chain to shame! Definitely coming back!

Went to eat dinner before my son's school spring concert and was very disappointed. We were a party of 6 had to wait a few minutes for the 6th person to arrive, in the mean time ordered appetizers, as soon as the last person showed up we orders and 30 plus minutes after we ordered we still did not have our meals. Ask the server, she said she would check on it...never ceases back, asked the manager she checked came back and said that our server had not put our order in to the computer in a timely manner. We had to leave due to my son needing to be at his program at a specific time. I was so disappointed. Free beverages and appetizers.

I ordered their pokeys classic qu'e with pulled pork and bbq beans on a bun the service is great they gave us some homemade chips which were kinda stale when I got the meal I poyred the barbecue sauce on and was ready for a meal however when I took a bit the pork even WITH the sauce on tasted like watery meat I finished it on behalf of my manners the beans had stray meat in it and the SIDE pickle tasted like salt water like it had been sitting out for days they messed up my drunk and when we asked for a box they came back with a check they werent that crowded so there was no way they were stressed or confused I'm personally feeling sick while writing this regreting that I even went there in the first place the only real good thing is their mac and cheese.

Very expensive. The waitress got the order wrong twice. On two different occasions and she is white. Didn't get what we ordered but we didn't have time to wait. Not real bright and goes to show why waitresses shouldn't make a lot of money. They do not deserve 25% tips or anything like that or even 20% 10% at most. They have no real skills so they should be paid as such. Only servers want you to pay them a lot for nothing because they don't want to learn skills and get a real job.

The food was fantastic. We wanted to try some BBQ on our road trip. We saw this BBQ joint on Google and decided to try it out. This place was well worth the stop. The BBQ brisket was delicious, brisket Mac n cheese along with Python made it even better! Our waitress Melissa was very very entertaining as well as a great waitress. We never had to ask for anything because she was on top of it. Great experience and great time!

No. Just no. Maybe it's because I'm from the South but this place is not good. Waitress wasn't very friendly, salad tasted like dirt.. literally, pork was soggy, vegetable soup had two vegetables.. carrots and celery and Mac and cheese had no flavor. Price was not worth it.

This is a very good barbeque restaurant. It was our first time eating there,so we got the sampler platter for 2. Brisket, ribs, smoked sausage and smoked Turkey, and 2 side orders. Everything was tasty, but I was most impressed with the smoked turkey. It was very moist, unlike smoked turkey from other barbecue restaurants I have tried it at. It's a casual place, and our waitress was Melissa B. She was very knowledgeable about the foods, and stopped by several times to see if we needed anything else. We will definitely eat here again. Bring your appetite, because the food portions are generous!

This was a spur od the moment stop, saw the billboard off the interstate and decided to stop. Since we had never been there we wanted to try a range of options. Our waitress Toni, not only helped us make some great choices she helped us order it all in a way that would make it cheaper. When we were quickly stuffed by all out choices, she kindly took it all to the kitchen to box it all up, even topped off sauces and offered plates and silverware since we were traveling. We even sat for another hour after paying the bill while we figured out the rest of the days trip. They were completely inviting and had no problem with us hanging out. Food was flavorful without being spicy or hot. Bbq was our favorite item

Best BBQ I’ve ever had. It’s so good my wife and I drive two hours from South Dakota once a month for it! It’s really nice inside: great atmosphere, great service, and a GREAT menu. You’ll come for the exotic meat but stay for the signature sides! They have the best fried green tomatoes and fried green beans you’ll ever have. Not in the mood for BBQ? They have a fantastic salad bar. I know what you’re thinking: salad bar? But seriously it’s amazing it is always stocked full of fresh produce. Oh and did I forget to mention the BBQ? Pick your poison: brisket, pork, chicken you won’t be disappointed! Best BBQ in the Midwest and it’s really not even close. The staff are polite, attentive, and helpful. The menu is so overwhelming we wouldn’t have known what to order our first time there had Melissa not made such great recommendations! 10/5 stars

We decided to give Pokies another try after previous bad experience and was once we were disappointed. The place was nearly empty and it still took well over 45 minutes to receive our food and once we did the three orders of brisket we’re completely dried out and had no flavor.

Once again another city another barbecue place. This place was awesome!! We happen to break down in the area and had to have our vehicle towed to Gillette. So we decided to find a barbecue place to eat luckily we found this place. Melissa b was our server and she was awesome I couldn't have asked for a better server. Once again I am a person who likes the sides just as much as ribs so we decided to go with corn beans mashed potatoes and gravy also onion rings. she brought us cheddar biscuits and jalapeno something cornbread she just kept bringing the food we were so full I can barely walk out of there. The food was just amazing I'm looking forward to coming back there when I have to pick my vehicle up after it is repaired. Thanks again you made the visit great will definitely be back!
