Great food and service. Highly recommend it
Great atmosphere, delicious steaks and very friendly service!
The service was fantastic and the food was really awesome as well I highly reccomend going there
Prepare for a long wait for your food to come out. Very expensive for a rather average burger.
Great steak and service.
Steak was excellent. Good service
My wife and I tried the Cavalryman for the first time since moving to Laramie. Very friendly and attentive service. We weren't celebrating anything but they made us feel special. We both had the French Onion soup - a bit salty but lots of beef flavor. I ordered the 8oz prime rib, medium and my wife had the shepherds pie. Both meals were tasty but the shepherd's pie was a little bland. We shared a bread pudding for dessert, which was pretty good compared to others I've had. The restaurant has a rustic western atmosphere appropriate for the location and menu. Just the right amount of lighting - not bright and not too dark. The fireplace was crackling with a few logs burning - perfect for the moderately cool evening. Quiet, cozy and just right for a romantic dinner for two. Their specialty is definitely the steaks and prime rib. We'll be back again, especially if we have an event to celebrate.
Food was great, my date and I loved everything about this place.
Always a wonderful experience. Highly recommended for locals and for those traveling though Laramie. I first ate here in 1998 and have been coming back for almost ten years.
We absolutely loved this place! Didn't have dinner but sat in the bar and had a couple of drinks and an appetizer. Staff was incredibly friendly and welcoming and chatted with us quite a bit. They have a lot of neat historical stuff in both the bar and the restaurant and lots of photos that you can scan a barcode to get additional historical information. It's been around since the 70s and is an icon in Laramie. Can't say enough great things about it and we will definitely be back when we pass through again!
Very authentic memorabilia and unique views of the Laramie landscape. Awesome wine and dessert choices along with quality customer service.
The atmosphere is absolutely outstanding at the Calvaryman. As you walk in you encounter many historical items ranging from maps to pictures which suits this place well considering they are located on the grounds of old Fort Sanders. The wait staff was the best I have encountered in Laramie and did a very good job balancing our needs while giving us the space to have good dinner conversation. The food was absolutely amazing! The steaks were cooked to perfection and the sides were just as good. This place is a wonderful place to spend a quiet dinner with your significant other.
Amazing food! Excellent relaxed service. Highly recommended
June 2019 Was here 15 yrs ago and we enjoyed it very much and talked about stopping again when in the area. We went tonight and only difference was no salad bar. But food was great and it is part of the west. Very nice staff.
Great food, service and setting
Good service, excellent atmosphere, and one of the best ribeyes I've had.
The ribeyes are tender and delicious, big shout out to my waitress Keaton, who ensured my dining experience was exemplary!
This place has a great atmosphere and awesome steaks. They were cooked perfectly and smothered nicely
Great steak and appetizers here. It is the highest end place around Laramie and the prices reflect that. The soda bread is amazing and try the skillet cookie. The skillet cookie sells out fast so it may not be available during busier days. Very authentic interior. The exterior needs some work as it can throw off travelers passing by, but don't be afraid to stop by!
Excellent service. We got french onion soup and ribeyes. Phenomenal.
Very poor service. We called for reservations for our anniversary and were told “we don’t do reservations” rather than “we have nothing available “. So we drove over from Cheyenne expecting the opportunity to wait for a table and were told, guess what, they were booked up for the evening with reservations! We told the hostess that we had previously called and she acted indifferently towards us. Walked out in disbelief. Very poor customer service.
Went for Valentine's day. Delicious steak! The mixed veggies were a little lacking but overall it was a great! Good selection of wines. Decent menu selection. The Cav is pricey but worth it!
Food was exceptional! Great location interesting rustic structure. The staff was very friendly and attentive, we had a 5 star experience.
Phenomenal food! I definitely would go back!
Great food, great service. Best Prime Rib in Laramie
Fantastic service and even better food.
Found this steakhouse 5 years ago. We have never had a bad meal. Will be back next year!
The service was great and friendly. The onions in the french onion soup were crunchy. The meatballs were so dry and bland. The steak was cooked to the requested temperature but had zero seasoning and for being a almost $40 steak it was full of cartilage and fat. I had to trim off almost a 1/3 of the steak. None of the veggies on the plate were even cooked. The only thing we really enjoyed was our salad.
Food was not hot despite being served on a hot ceramic plate. I suggest that you serve on a metal plate which retains the heat longer and not serve up the sides until the main dish is ready to serve. I had the Colonel and the prime rib was the thinnest that I have ever been served, about 1/2 inch thick and the size of my hand. The baked potato was lukewarm but our waitress, Rebekah, was a delight and exchanged it for the garlic mashed potatoes. My spouse was happy with his rib eye and sides. The service was very good. I didn't feel that my meal was worth the $44.90 that I paid for it. The bread pudding that was served for his birthday was excellent. I would love to see "the Cav" be successful again.
Friendly staff. Great bread pudding! It took over an hour to get out food unfortunately.
Love the upgrade of the interior (don't let the car wreckage in back fool you about this very nice restaurant and bar). My prime rib was wonderful, plenty of broccoli, lovely baked potato. The only downside of our meals was the beet salad...more of a greens salad with a couple of beet slices..disappointed. Service was ok, could use some polish up on where things go on the table and checking back sooner rather than later.
Oh my!!!! THIS PLACE IS AMAZING!! Great prices for GOOD REAL FOOD! The prim rib was perfect I have never tasted such goodness in my mouth! The drink was great too, we even got to sample some whisky and gin! I highly recommend if you want a real home cooked good meal eat here!
We stayed in Laramie for the night and wanted a good steak. Steaks were awesome, cooked just as requested. Service was great. Our waitress was very attentive. She gave us warning it may be a little delayed because of a large party, but it was out in no time. Fantastic food, service and ambiance. Highly recommend Cavalryman Steakhouse
Overpriced and not high quality
The worst ribeye I've ever had, stuff potato, old, salad rusty greens. Service good. Over all ripoff. Hire a new chef.
It was awesome to be able to cook my own steak the way I like it with all the seasonings they provide. We had great service and lots of options.
Service was friendly but a little slow considering the lack of people there when we ate. Steak was okay. Chicken had good flavor but was dry. Mashed potatoes were very disappointing, they were dry, still had chunks in them and were very bland. Veggies were under seasoned. Portions were a little lacking. A side of asparagus was only two stalks. Overall, we were expecting much more for the price that we paid.
We had the prime rib, not sure if they didn't have med rare or just don't serve it that way but we were disappointed about that. Servers were friendly and helpful but we watched several tables that arrived there after us get their steaks before us. Waited about 10 minutes before they took our food order and about 35 minutes for our food to arrive. We each had one drink and the steaks and we were there for 2 hours. We will go back most definitely, just didn't have the greatest experience this time. Should be noted that this was during Jubilee Days...
Good food and service! Rib Eye is awesome.
Great birthday dinner! Good service, everything was at the right time and our streaks were cooked as ordered and delicious. We'll be back!
Great ribeye meal, appetizers & decor. Glad we stopped!
Very nice place to eat. Food and service was great.
Been going here for a long time, never had a bad meal or service.
Good food Great historic stuff on the walls
My husband, the picky eater, and I had dinner tonight and we were both so extremely happy with ambiance, service and food! Such a great experience! Would recommend to anyone. Well worth it all!
Best. Steak. Ever.
This place has the best lobster tail that I have tried as well as one of the best slow roasted prime ribs that I have tried. If you aren't into slightly more expensive food, I would highly recommend the country fried steak. The French onion soup was to die for and their house salad was very crisp. Their soda bread was very good and did not have as much of a salty bite with a light slathering of their whipped honey butter. The servers were very friendly and were quick to refill the drinks.
Terrible. We made reservations in advance for the December 2017 graduation. When we got there before our reservation time, we were told they didn't have any tables and we would have to wait. We waited 30 minutes past our reservation time and then they seated us in the noisy bar after 7 p.m. when people were getting rowdy. There were only 4 of us and we found out that a group of 20+ came in before us WITHOUT reservations that they seated in lieu of people WITH reservations. Is this how they do business. We did not get our food until after 8:30 p.m. and they ran out of bread. One of the people in our party is diabetic and his blood sugar was getting low. They didn't care. Will never go back. The waitress tried to do everything she could to help, but management was AWFUL and did nothing to try to help us or the waitress.
Usually a very good place. Think they were having a bad night.
The worst service ever! We are in town for business and decided to go there for dinner. We were promptly sat and welcomed by the server. She took our appetizer order and then our dinner order. After that a few more groups showed and ordered their food. We recieved our appetizer promptly and then started noticing the parties that arrived after us were receiving their salads. We had yet to receive ours. We didn’t mentioned anything for about a half hour and then questioned the server where our salads were. She stated that they were on their way and then proceeded to tell us that the kitchen was behind. As we sat there, the parties after us starting receiving their dinners. At that point we realized that our ordered was never put in and our server lied to us about the kitchen being behind. I put 20 on the table to cover our appetizer and soft drinks and we walked out. Absolutely terrible!!
I never give reviews but I was so disappointed in this place I feel like I have to. Super cute place and I really wanted to eat here but after waiting over 30 mins to be seated, when the place was practically empty was crazy! There was only 2 occupied seats in the bar area, 4 in regular, and we couldn’t get a seat or a drink. I’m sorry but if your going to be open and want business at least give your customers a seat and some water in your empty restaurant.
Best in Laramie. Both food and staff
great atmosphere and the manager is awesome
My wife and I enjoyed dinner at the Cavalryman tonight. Her meal was excellent; mine had a small issue which the manager immediately addressed to our complete satisfaction. We had an excellent experience and would recommend the Cavalryman to everyone. We have dined at the Cavalryman many times and are looking forward to many more great visits there.
I believe they have a new cook their order the bison steak. Ordered it medium well, Steak came very very rare, send it back steak came again and it was rare medium told the waitress I didn't want it order desert peach cobbler was fantastic. Manager brought the stake back was cooked the way I wanted ittold me don't worry about paying for it was on the house peach cobbler was exceptional. The manager was fantastic. I'll give the place another try in a couple months
The food was delicious and the customer service went beyond exceptional. On a trip across country we tried Cavalryman Steakhouse - the atmosphere, the food, the service - all were of the highest quality. The day after we left Laramie we realized we had left our two year old's beloved stuffed animal at the restaurant. The manager sent us the stuffed animal along with a card within the week. This is really a wonderful place and we plan on stopping by on any trip through Laramie.
Came here for a graduation dinner!! Absolutely loved the food and the staff was super nice to all of us!! Beautiful setting and cozy feel! The atmosphere was perfect for our group and we felt right at home!! Being outside the city was a huge bonus as we didn't feel as jammed in with all the action going on from graduation weekend!
I've seen the Cav go through a bunch of changes over the last couple of years, and not all of them good. Now, however, it seems to all be working wonderfully! The complimentary fried mushrooms are excellent, and my steak was cooked exactly as I asked and was delicious! The service was very good, attentive and kind without being overbearing or obnoxious. I thoroughly enjoyed my Maker's Mark Manhattan for a cocktail, and I also had the bread pudding for dinner, which was probably the best bread pudding I've ever had. Overall, an excellent experience, and I'll definitely be going back again!
We had an awesome visit here. We have been going off and on for the last 30 years. This time was the best yet.
Everyone was super friendly. The food was really good. The atmosphere was great.
This place is amazing have customers raving about the food and management
Excellent menu selections. The staff isn't the most attentive or friendly and service is a little on the slower than normal side. But the variety of selections on the menu and great history of the restaurant and the area make up for it. I absolutely loved this restaurant. I had the duck and the bison ribeye and both were delicious.
Great place! I recently took a date here and it provided the perfect environment . The fire and unique, western decor gave us talking points and the staff was extremely professional and service was outstanding. I ordered the Bison Ribeye with Garlic Mashed Potatoes as my side. Worth every penny. My date ordered the Chicken Risotto and thoroughly enjoyed it as well. Will be coming here again!
The prime rib was stringy and gristly. The baked potato unbaked and hard. Not at all worth the $30 a meal.
Fantastic waitress, and waiter very attentive. Ordered prime rib and what came out was more akin to a bad roast beef. When l asked to speak with the manager, I was told he was too busy and left my phone number. He still hasn't called. It's a real shame because they have a fantastic environment and super great staff.
I went to the cavalry man steakhouse the other day with my date and the service was awful took for ever to order the appetizer and we were ready to order more but she just took off once we give her the appetizer that we wanted then it took her a very long time to come back and give us our appetizer and then left as soon as she gave us our appetizer and we could not order tell she came back about another 15 to 20 minutes later finally we ordered our food my girlfriend got the prime rib and I got something called the lieutenant which had crab legs and a small steak with mashed potatoes and sadly the best tasting thing on my plate was the mashed potatoes we finished our food and sat there for a very long time until she came back I asked for a box and check and I got the surprise that my plate was $84 when the highest thing on the menu that I saw was only 40 I was very dissatisfied with the service and quality of food for the price and make it worse it was a pretty slow night for them.
I made a reservation through Yelp.. Stated on their that it was my husband's birthday and we would be coming From Colorado to eat their They did nothing for his birthday didn't even acknowlege it . French onion soup was good prime rib was OK. I was very disappointed with dessert I wanted a chocolate globe. The menu clearly States that the berries the ice cream the anglaise Is inside the chocolate globe and melted with Carmel. When it came to my table it was a tiny chocolate ball with maybe a quarter of a scoop of ice cream inside Berries and anglaise on the outside. My berries were frozen when I told the waitress she said Oh their pre -made so that's probably why. 10.95 for a frozen dessert is ridiculous.
Staff were 6 stars, restaurant was a real charmer as well. It was full of vintage pictures from the area's history. Food was exceptional from start to finish.
Absolutely perfect place to relax and enjoy great food with comfortable atmosphere. Great service with friendly staff
Support local business! The general manager and his wife are from Minnesota with a baby on the way. Haven't been there for a while but they're real nice people! Jaymie is always so fun and inviting! The place just has so much character and is a great spot for snowmobile trips and stopping by when passing through! Brennan likes to make sure the glass is full and the food is great! Can't wait to go back!
The waitress forgot we were there.
Great service, great server and excellent food. That sums up our visit here. No complaints about any aspect of this quaint establishment. Every item ordered was done to perfection. I would highly recommend this restaurant
The perfect end to a long day driving on I-80. Both our steaks were perfectly prepared and the beers ice cold. Great atmosphere and wonderful friendly staff.
I had the melt-in-your-mouth prime rib with the herb based au jus, baked potato and zucchini. Super good soda bread, extensive wine list, and great western décor. I will definitely be back for steak night!
Neat location and ambiance. However, the cook couldn't figure out how to cook a medium well steak. I had to send it back to the kitchen twice, and he never did get it right. What of it I did try to eat, was full of gristle. Horrible experience. Will not be back.
Everything was wrong
We were there the night before the 2017 eclipse. They weren't at all prepared and we had to wait almost an hour for silver and napkins. They were out of several entrees and beers. We were served salads well before we had silver, our food was overcooked and the portions were minuscule. The help was very nice but plainly overwhelmed by the crowd. They were kids doing the best they could but management was nowhere to be seen. The final straw was when we asked for a second portion of bread after sitting at the table for an hour and being told that it was a $4 charge. Any other restaurant would have happily just given the bread as a way of saying sorry for the other issues. I excused and even complimented many other Wyoming businesses for the eclipse craziness but this place needed supervision to handle a crisis and it wasn't there.
Super nice people, great food.
Service was great and food was amazing. Watching the other tables, the manager was quick to respond if there seemed to be a problem. If you're looking for a nice restaurant on the edge of Laramie with great food, this is the place to be! Check it out!!
Went yesterday for the Sunday brunch. A breakfast burrito loaded up with Prime Rib??? Yes please! Absolutely delicious! My wife had the Chicken and Waffles and it was great too. Affordable, great food, and great service in a historic location. I've lived in Laramie for 10+ years now and this is the best breakfast in town. We will be back...
The food was absolutely delicious and the service was wonderful. It's a nice, quiet restaurant!
Other than not getting my sauteed mushrooms everything else was great! Steaks, salads and soda bread were the best showing that Wyoming CAN be Steak & Cattle Country. The drinks tasted a lot better than I had elsewhere. Hopefully other places like Calvaryman exist elsewhere in this region of the Rockies, it'd be nice to know and see them for myself on getting good steak along with bison which is always one of the best things to eat as well in this region.
This is one of those off the beaten path places that its worth your time to alter your trip a bit to get to experience. Stop an hour early, or eat when you would normally wait a bit. Have the steak sampler appetizer and your Wyoming soda bread dripping with honey butter. Have a Wyoming sourced melt in your mouth ribeye. If you have connection ( I didn't with T-Mobile) some of the historical photos on the wall, have qcodes you can connect with the history of the area while you eat. Save some room if you can for a home style bread pudding with whisky cream sauce. Bring an appetite but you will still likely need to take a box with you. Wow.
Food was amazing every thing cooked perfict n service was great a lot of fun n bonus a pokie stop for those that care highly recomend stoping here
This was our first time here, and we really enjoyed it. The ambiance was great, service was super. One of the best steaks I've had in a long time. We are looking forward to going back and trying the Sunday brunch!
Ate here for me and my wife's 13th year Anniversary, excellent experience!
Best steak in Memphis!! Try the bison steak & twice baked potato. You won't be disappointed!! P S. The Rocky Mountain oysters are on point!
Wonderful meal. Best restaurant I have been in 10 years.
I’ve lived in Cheyenne my whole life and never knew it was there. Some friends told us about it so we decided to try it out. Walked in and the place was set up beautifully. Our server was awesome and very attentive and our food was phenomenal. Will be telling friends and family in Cheyenne about this place. Thank you for an awesome dinner
Pleasant staff. Nice atmosphere, great salad. Awesome appetizers. And good steaks. I'll be eating here every weekend while I'm in wyoming
Best steakhouse in Laramie!
Quaint place with lots of historic value.
Excellent steakhouse with friendly service and an easygoing atmosphere. Prices are very reasonable and they know what they're doing on the grill. Several inventive specialties, a full bar, and the warm soda bread is a nostalgic comfort. Very good place.
Great service. I recommend the French onion soup.
Great food, good place and the food has a little smaller portions for the price. But the 12oz lobster tail i had was one of the largest I've ever had:) All in all, great place.
The food and service was just ok. However, it was way overpriced. Plus, it wasn't very clean and the tables and chairs needed to be updated. I'd rather spend my money at Applebee's
Our waitress Dani was amazing! She was so friendly and so attentive. Definitely some of the best service you can ask for in town. The food was also great, thank you Cavalryman for a great anniversary dinner!
Quiet, friendly, and darn good food! Me and my girlfriend go here whenever we feel like treating ourselves to a romantic dinner. If you're looking for a good cowboy and country vibe, this place can't be beat in my opinion. The staff is super friendly too! Never had a complaint so far!
Heard from multiple locals that this is the best place to go if you want to have a nice steak. However was very disappointing. I asked for medium rare and I get a well done, the server got me another steak, and yet again it was well done, and the excuse was this cut is hard to cook!! However our server was great, but if the food is not that's a big negative
On May 22, 2018 we hosted an evening meal for 20 guests at the Cavalryman Steakhouse. Their team was incredibly attentive to every detail and the service was excellent. Everything from our appetizers, dinner selections and dessert were freshly prepared and beautifully presented! Many of our guests were from out-of-town and thanks to everyone at the Cavalryman Steakhouse, they had a wonderful Wyoming dining experience!! We highly recommend you pay them a visit!!!
Delicious prime rib, sweet potato fries, crisp tender green beans...
Great staff, okay food.
Very crowded. Bit of a wait, but food was worth it!
Our experience was one of the worst we have ever experienced. The food was basic and could have been found at any local restraunt for half of the price with way better service. Our server was rude, brash and very slow almost to the point of laziness. We ordered a 12 oz ribeye medium and a burger. The ribeye was tough and had none of the promised marbelling on the menu. The burger was dry and had no seasoning. The best part of dinner was getting the check.
Christmas eve. Made reservations for 7pm. No record. Got seated and took 40 minutes to get drinks. One wine was old and undrinkable. Steak was ok but not at this price. Uneven service. Waiter seemed lost and confused. All in all not a great experience.
The atmosphere is amazing and it's full of good food and great history!
Hands down the best steak I've had in Wyoming. Friendly, helpful staff. Grear beer/whiskey selections. Would definitely recommend.
My wife and I were excited to have a date night and decided to try the Calveryman Steakhouse. The manager was wonderful; very professional and knowledgeable about wine selections, etc. Our waitress however gave a completely different experience. After giving me a warm beer we asked for a cold one in exchange. She came to our table saying she had some on ice for me and it would be a few minutes. She didn't offer me anything else to drink and quickly walked away from my empty water glass. About 15 minutes later she came back with THE SAME BEER she had taken from me that was warm! It had been sitting in ice and was dripping wet. The food was average, nothing specatacular. I had the prime rib and crab legs, the crab legs were split in half and not served with lemon. I've eaten at some fine dining establishments and have never seen this done...not sure about that. My wife's buffalo rib eye was good but the twice baked potato was gross. Nonetheless, we ate our meal and while finally removing the dirty plates from the table the waitress literally said, "I'm sure after as much as you guys ate you don't want dessert but I brought the menu anyway". Really?? I was done at this point and just asked for the check. If we could have had the experience of a mature, professional server we would be giving the review a higher rating but not by much. We should have just went to Chili's.
I went today on Easter Sunday and had brunch. We had a large party of people. Our waiter was amazing she was very kind and outgoing! Honestly probably the best part of our brunch was our server. I can't remember her name but she has the tattoo of the two little flowers on the back of her arm. Super cute too. I'd like to get her recognized.
Best Restaurant in Laramie! Service is excellent and the food is exquisite. The ambiance is quite pleasant. It's our favorite restaurant in Laramie.
Very disappointing. Food was poorly prepared, and overly expensive. Steaks that were ordered med-well came rare; cook simply microwaved them to "fix" our issue. Three of is ordered French Onion Soup, which came cold and weak. Our host said we should have gone to Wyoming Rib and Chop House. Next time, we will.
First visit in over 10 yrs. Much better than I remember. My ribeye was excellent, Kris said her prime rib was awesome. Prices are okay, not cheap mind you, and service was all we would expect. We'll be back.
The steak was great, juicy, flavourful. The place also had a new, more extensive wine list. Cocktails are good, and had a good variety. Service was quick and attentive, if not right on the ball with utensils etc. The sides could use more imagination, for example, pan fried vegetables came out as just cold plain beets.
The best steak--very flavorful! On the pricey side so we only come on special occasions.
Amazing service and excellent food. Great choice for dinner on the way to Cheyenne!
The service was great. The food was excellent.
I get there once or twice a year. The service was the worst it's been. The onion soup tasted like they had diluted it with water. The steak was excellent.
OMG DELICIOUS!! What else can o say!!!
Food and service was great patrons were just as friendly as staff treated us like they knew us
Was VERY good. I had the bison ribeye and it was excellent. The owner came out and visited and was very professional. Highly recommend.
Very awesome place to eat wonderful atmosphere fantastic food beautiful view open fireplace great customer service prices average took a minute to find but very worthwhile we had a great evening a lot of history to the building very rustic atmosphere country music playing in the background would be a wonderful place for a couple that loved the old west and wanted a out-of-the-way romantic place to eat hope you enjoy your experience as much as we did
Real good the service and food was excellent
Excellent food and service! We visited to celebrate an anniversary, and they had a special table ready, a card from the wait staff and dessert as a gift. The food was top-notch and cocktails were well made. Highly recommend!
Great taste of the Wyoming range! They know what it means to cook a steak rare if you ask for it.
Traveling from out of town heard great things about this place so I went in at 6:00pm with a work colleague was seated and ordered an appetizer and drinks. Was informed it was wine club tasting night and asked if we wanted wine menus. We declined and got an abrupt tone with attitude. After that it took 20 minutes for our drinks to arrive (at the same time as our appetizer) we decided to order our meals at that time. we ate our appetizer and drank our drinks in about another 20 minutes time and still did not receive the salads to go with our dinners while every table around us proceeded to get theirs (we sat down before them) after about 30 minutes after we ordered it meals and now 50 minutes since being seated our salads arrived and the server told us that her kitchen was running terribly behind and it would be another 20-25 minutes to cook our medium steaks (12-15 minutes of cook time would do fine) we said okay and continued to wait. After watching around the restaurant at the tables seated after us we noticed they had not been told anything about the kitchen and their meals began coming out of the kitchen. At this point it became blatantly clear that our order was never put in and in an attempt to cover it we were lied to!! Completely unacceptable service!! 90+ minutes for medium cooked steaks and steamed vegetables is crazy! We left a $20 on the table for our app and drinks and promptly left the establishment.
