Gary was the worst and most HORRIBLE person I have ever dealt with setting up an event. I have planned several events in the past and this event was our wedding! We have tried for 2 weeks to finally hear back from him and he doesn’t call back. We called again today and he spoke very rudely to the groom, then the phone was handed to me and was so unprofessional and kept throwing in my face they are voted the #1 caterer in Madison for several years, well, I’m not planning this wedding from Madison, but to be helped IN Madison and service and attitude go a LONG way when planning from a distance. There was no effort made to work with what we were looking for, just saying what he believed would be best for our wedding without figuring out what type of wedding we are having. They will NOT be receiving my business EVER!!

We were so happy with Blue Plate Catering for the wonderful job they did catering our wedding in October! Maria and the whole team was great to work with - helpful, detailed, and accommodating. I also really appreciated that Maria took the time to explain everything to us at our tasting/planning meeting. Knowing how Blue Plate usually runs weddings gave us confidence in their ability to coordinate with other vendors and deliver a high quality "product" both in their service and the actual food. Maria was very patient with us throughout the whole process and made a point to ensure my husband and I had a chance to actually eat some of the appetizers on our wedding day. She also checked in with me during the reception to see if everything met my expectations! Truly great service! The quality of the food was excellent and we received many compliments from our guests. I wanted something a little different than the typical meat, veggies and potato people usually eat at a wedding and Blue Plate had some great ideas! We ended up going with a pasta bar and Maria helped to ensure it was exactly what we wanted! The appetizers were also delicious and beautifully displayed - be sure to ask about the fruit/veggie/cheese/meat/cracker display they can do! We made some additions to our order a few weeks before the wedding - a popcorn & diet coke bar for my mom's birthday! Not only was the Blue Plate team accommodating to this, they drafted up a separate invoice and helped keep it a surprise until the reception! It ended up being a fun way to honor my mom and I'm so appreciative to Blue Plate for making it come together. Overall, we were impressed with the professionalism, flexibility, price point, service and quality of food at Blue Plate and would highly recommend them to anyone else!

I have been to several events (Holiday Parties, Graduations, and Family Gatherings) that have been catered by Blue Plate Catering. The food is always presented well and most importantly tastes great! David and the rest of the staff is always very professional, well dressed, and accommodating! I highly recommend giving them the opportunity to cater your next event!

We originally had set a budget of $2000 for food for our wedding and was going to go get a bunch of Chipotle for everyone for our barn wedding. When the whole E.coli scare made us rethink that decision, we realized we would need to go with a professional catering company. We tasted with multiple companies in the Madison area, and no company even came close to the level of professionalism as Blue Plate Catering. I loved working with David. He figured out what kind of an atmosphere, type of food, etc. right away and just seemed to understand us as a couple. We ended up upping our budget, but it was worth every penny to know that things would be taken care of and the food would be delicious. My guests loved the food, and Blue Plate even set some of my favorite foods aside for me to make sure I got something to eat. Couldn't recommend this place enough!

Hello - This e-mail is long overdue (nearly 2 years to be exact...), but better late than never... I wanted to take a moment to share our gratitude and praise for the work you did for our wedding in July 2014. You catered both hors d'oeuvres in the park immediately after our ceremony and the entire reception at The Majestic. The presentation of the food was perfect and everything tasted wonderful. What we were most impressed and pleased with though, was how incredible Tim was throughout the process. He and his supporting staff collectively reduced our wedding-related stress level significantly simply by owning nearly everything. Tents, food, champagne, chairs - even a last-minute request for additional tents due to the weather forecast. Tim was clear, quick, and consistent with his communication and just simply easy to work with. We started initially with another catering company and after several weeks of slow communication, we sat down with Tim and it became immediately clear that Blue Plate was our best choice. My husband and I chose Blue Plate for our Wedding and we absolutely LOVED IT! We went with a burger bar and were able to customize the toppings and use entirely local beef and bacon as well as non-high fructose corn syrup ketchup. Tim was great to work with for our sampling and then through email from there on out. The day-of they grilled on site, so when everyone arrived to the reception it smelled like grilled burgers--so delicious. Highly recommend!

Absolutely wonderful!!!! I worked with David for well over a year and he did an above and beyond job!!! The staff continually checked in making sure everyone had everything they needed and even brought second dinner to my husband...and people say the bride and groom don't eat on the day of their wedding. Blue Plate did such an amazing job at our wedding! I would highly recommend them to anyone. I kept telling people that every time I met with David throughout the process I left feeling much less stressed than when I arrived! They were so easy to deal with throughout the planning phase. On our wedding day I decided to have our ceremony inside which meant moving tables and flipping the room after the ceremony and all the Blue Plate employees were extremely helpful. I didn't have to worry about anything! The bartenders were great and anytime I needed anything David and his staff just seemed to already know and were already on it! I had so much fun on my wedding day and am very thankful to have chosen Blue Plate to help make the day run so smoothly.

Our company has used Blue Plate for many many catered events of very different sizes and styles. We've done everything from wraps for lunch, to served hor d'oeuvres for happy hour, to dinner for over 100 people. The food is always tasty and their service is very reliable -- which is a huge reason why we keep on coming back! We've been burned by other caterers in the past -- and we just really appreciate that, in the midst of the craziness of running an event, we can trust that Blue Plate we be on-time and ready to go! What compelled me to finally leave a review -- at our most recent event, their staff went above and beyond! After cleaning up their supplies, the Blue Plate team was eager to help us pick up linens (rented from another vendor), loaned their cart to ease our hauling, and stayed as long as needed to help with the tear-down process. It was SO appreciated!

Blue Plate was great! We had them cater our wedding reception and they were very professional in answering all of our questions beforehand. We had significant delays the day of with half of our guests and decorations being stuck behind an accident on the highway and Blue Plate was nice enough to be flexible and stay a little later to accommodate. Everyone was so kind and the food was amazing and very affordable. Would definitely use them again in the future.

Blue Plate catered our wedding just outside the Wisconsin Dells this fall. They did a great job! They served a taco bar and appetizers, all of which were well received. The food was cooked properly (e.g., not over cooked, using good ingredients), nicely presented, and tasted great. This was MUCH better than your standard wedding fare. The caterers were professional and friendly, often going above and beyond to help with other aspects of the wedding (e.g., putting out centerpieces and re-arranging tables) that were not part of their "job description." Moreover, Blue Plate was easy to work with and reasonably priced. I would highly recommend them.

Our event last night was so great -- Dan and Kristin did such an amazing job, really going above-and-beyond. They jumped in to rearrange the living room furniture, and when he spotted a bump in the rug halfway through the night, I saw Dan run over to pull it out and adjust everything so no one would trip...they were just so conscientious. And the food was delish! We will definitely be calling you again!

Blue Plate Catering helped make our wedding reception dinner a delicious part of a fantastic day! With such an incredible selection of food, narrowing down our options was the hardest part, but Gary was most helpful guiding us through multiple tastings, and we ended up with a menu that was just what we were looking for! Getting photographs caused us to miss the cocktail hour, so it was great when they brought out each of the hors d’oeuvres just for us to try. The specialty drinks (especially the brandy old fashioned sours) were a hit with our guests, and gave out of towners a chance to try some Wisconsin flavor. Highly recommended!
