Excellent local bbq joint with great staff
Some of the best barbecue in Virginia fantastic cheesecake the potato chips are home fried and absolutely the greatest
Home-made Southern goodness!! Favs like pulled pork, ribs, collard greens, and hushpuppies are the best!! Great for catering too.
Cozy, friendly, geniune BBQ.... Hot sauce w/ hint of bourbon was dee-lish!
Could’ve been a Little less salty sides and maybe perfect the chips, but other than that, THE SMOKED WINGS ARE AMAZING!!!!
Well below average brisket. Unremarkable sauces. Flavorless chips and hushpuppies. Came for the daily special they claimed not to have, ordered the most similar thing and appeared to get the special, only $3 more. I wont be back.
The brisket was excellent. The sauces were good. The ribs were cold.
Our small office (10 people) had Red Hub cater our Christmas luncheon this year, and we are so very glad we did! For a very reasonable price (under $250), we had pulled pork, chicken tenders, cole slaw, mac & cheese, hushpuppies (OHMYGOSH--these are a MUST), deviled eggs, baked beans, dessert and beverages. The food was amazing, the staff courteous and prompt. We all had our favorite items and we look forward to trying them out again next year!
Best Carolina style BBQ in Charlottesville. I was actually at a fancy restaurant that had BBQ on the menu. When I asked the server her honest opinion of the entree, she said "Don't bother. The best Q in Charlottesville is at Red Hub." The owner has upgraded his equipment substantially in the last year, to the tune of $20K. He's serious. And these are serious Southern eats. My personal favorite are the wings. Not only the best in Cville. Maybe the best I've ever had. They fall off the bone in juicy goodness. Try some with a variety of Red Hub's sauces. You won't be disappointed.
Great little spot for some authentic NC bbq. Pulled pork was perfect; potato salad exactly what you want; hush puppies were delightful.
It was so good
Excellent BBQ, light, tasty, not greasy
Stopped in with a friend on a Friday evening. Service was attentive and generous - and the brisket was tasty!
Got the wrong food. Be careful with take out orders, even if a cook tells you it's right.
The smoked wings are the best!
Good BBQ. Nice folks.
The service was great, and the food was excellent. I went in for the pulled pork which was delicious, but feLloyd in love with the chicken and dumplings which were better that Grandma's
Walked into Red Hub on a evening weekday and was met with friendly, professional service. I had the pulled pork platter with cole slaw and it was AMAZING. They had numerous homemade sauces and good beer options. I'll definitely be coming here again.
Try the brisket!
Their brisket is awesome! A nice smoky taste and very tender. Great wings too. Very small inside but great to take out. No need to drive out to BBQ Exchange, IMO the brisket and pulled pork is better at Red Hub.
Best barbecue in Charlottesville. Western NC style.
The barbecue has good flavor but it needs to be a little bit more moist my sandwich was a just a bit dry now you can always add your barbecue but sometimes I like to get the taste of the smoke flavor before I put any barbecue sauce on it the service needs to be a lot better they need to put a fountain drink out so customers can get drinks because it's people work in the back and it or get a bell so you can have customers let them know that you need to replenish their drinks
The BBQ was good, some items are a unique concept. But got my order went twice and wasn't busy.
Had the BBQ sundae for lunch, took home the pulled pork, brisket, slaw mac n cheese and beans for dinner. Don't let the sizes the BBQ sundae fool you, you'll leave full!!
Mrs Shelton does an excellent job and she draws you back for more.
Fantastic! Had the bbq ribs and pulled chicken sandwich. Food was great and their bbq sauce was delicious. First time eating hush puppies...they were amazing. The chicken salad was heavenly!
Try all the sauces!
Disappointment, but with some redeeming quality. First time here and I order the Wednesday special to go “brisket burger”. First the lady tells me they don’t have burgers, it’s just brisket with a side. I ask about french fries, no french fries, I order the potato salad. She calls out my order as brisket with mac and cheese and I tell her I ordered potato salad, she went to the back and came back out with my bag. I get back to my desk and still have mac and cheese instead of potato salad. Plus, with what little meat they provided it was on a dry hamburger bun! (??) The whole meal was just “okay”, but definitely not worth $15+.
Smoked wings all the the reason you need to slide in to cozy place. BBQ was good. Customer service was great. Small eating area and no ribs on the day we came in. Go check this place out.
Walked by first while visiting C'Ville and thought the food looked and smelled amazing. Decided to stop on our way back for "a snack" and we were blown away. Pork was among the very best I've ever had, smoked wings fell off the bone and the perfect amount of seasoning, and even the hush puppies my wife ordered were amazing. Damn near perfect execution on everything. Highly, highly recommended.
Extremely good place for BBQ. But parking can be a challenge.
Ryan and his team are fantastic. I recently hosted a work event for 120 people and was blown away at the attention to detail, professionalism, food quality, and level of service from the team as a whole. I was grateful to not have to worry once on the day of the event as they were punctual, communicative, and exceptionally friendly. Thank you for a great event, Red Hub Food Co.!
We were traveling through Cville and needed something quick, but not 'fast food'. My son checked out reviews online and they were excellent! We parked our moving truck and car and the 3 of us ordered and shared 2 platters! We shared, sitting at the bar. It was a fun memory for me and my sons! Oh, ordered a quart of collared greens 'to go'! Everything was Yummy! TY!
So fine. The sauces alone are to die for. Great greens too. The North Carolina style sauce is true to style.
Stopped here a few times for lunch, exceeded expectations both times. Great little spot, sauces and hush puppies are top notch. One of the best pork sandwiches.
Yummy!! Great brisket and hush puppies. Take care with takeout though, you may need to ask for plastic ware and sauce
Great Food !!!
Amazing food greaat portions and very well priced definitely a must do for Charlottesville
I worked with Red Hub Food for a wedding last weekend as well as my brother's wedding last year. In both experiences Red Hub was great to work with! Not only is their food delicious, their catering staff was super responsive, flexible and …
The best friend chicken I have ever eaten!! Cant wait to go back
We used Red Hub to Cater our vineyard wedding and they were great; the food was delicious, and they were incredibly accommodating with our menu. There were a couple day-of snafus, but ultimately they Red Hub made it right, and we felt like they really took care of us. We highly recommend Red Hub for everything from casual lunch to wedding catering! Their food is outstanding and so is their service.
Food is great and staff was incredibly attentive and friendly! Highly recommend.
Seems a bit like if someone from Etsy sold barbecue restaurant design/decor, but lemme tell you, these folks execute some great barbecue.
Sahar and the team provided bar staff and food for our wedding and we highly recommend the Red Hub Food Co! We met with Sahar for a full tasting session, where she helped us to understand which options would work best for our event, and why. Sahar then recommended local equipment hire and liaised with them about what we needed, which was extremely helpful. The staff who worked at our event were friendly, professional and helpful and the food was amazing! They made tonnes of food, and kindly put the leftovers in containers for us, which we ate for a whole week afterwards!
My friend and I wound up at Red Hub while hunting for fried chicken. It was actually our back-up's back-up, but man am I glad we found it. I ordered the fried chicken platter, he got the bbq and chicken combo platter. The chicken was absolutely amazing-crispy skin on the outside, juicy on the inside and well-seasoned. The hushpuppies were also a hit. I would venture to say they're my personal favorite. I got to try some of the pulled pork sandwich and it was also yummy. Needless to say, with the portions we got, there was no need for dinner. Next time I'm in town I will have a hard time picking between something new or what I last had. Final note: staff was awesome, thanks so much!
Usually pretty good. Pork we got this time was high in fat and charred pieces.
Red Hub catered for our Wedding and it was delicious!! All of our guests thoroughly enjoyed everything! The staff was very friendly and professional. We are so blessed to have enjoyed our ceremony and their yummy dishes! Highly recommend!
Red Hub catered our wedding at Early Mountain Vineyard this past weekend and I have nothing but wonderful things to say about Sahar, Lisa and their team. Every crazy idea and request that popped into my head (like a carving …
Really solid BBQ. Awesome selection of homemade sauces too. The pulled pork was smoky and tender - really really good.
Ribs were tiny, beans just tasted sweet, and chicken tasted of minimal seasoning.
We visited for lunch and wished we had not. My wife ordered the pulled pork, good but not great. I ordered the brisket, awful. A full pound and a half of fat on a bun. I tried five bites and the rest was not edible. I have had brisket at a few bbq restaurants, and this was not brisket. Luckily, there are a few bbq restaurants in Charlottesville to try so we will not be returning here.
OMG very heavily fried and not a good taste. Person taking our order got it wrong, we wanted platters and he gave us sandwich. Said no hush puppies and we got them. Bad experience and I will not go back. Ever.
BBQ sundae for sure , the beans were sweeter than I like but the rest was great . I got a side order of ribs , okay but I was hoping for a little more , barely any smoke flavor .
Pulled pork was delicious, but those cheese grits and collard greens were amazing. Couldn't decide between the collards and potato salad. Glad I went with the collards. You will be too.
Those looking for the perfect Charlottesville "hole in the wall" BBQ joint need look no further. Counter service with just a few tables inside and out means seating is limited, but dont let that scare you, as even grab-n-go is absolutely worth the trip. The pick two platters offer a huge amount of food for the money, and the BBQ and Grits are no small portion either. Every sauce is different, delicious in its own right, and you can even take home a bottle of your favorite. If you're visiting Charlottesville and looking for some good classic Barbecue with a twist, do not overlook Red Hub.
awesome in every way. incredible service; free cookies from the manager. best brisket I've ever had. Pulled pork was also 5 stars.
Great pulled pork, ribs, chicken. Try the BBQ Sundae
Lovely intimate restaurant and delightful customer service!
Anyone who dislikes this place is crazy! It is just like Mama used to make!!! I am so happy I found this gem randomly in my search for a lunch spot. Prices are more than fair and the amount of food you get is perfection. I didn't experience any excess fat or char. The sauces are more than delicious. I highly recommend the pulled pork sandwich with the bourbon glaze with the collard greens and mac n cheese. Seriously, I have lived in 3 states and worked in 7 restaurants. This food is worth the 45 minute drive from my house. I will return as often as I can.
Great BBQ and fried chicken, pulled pork was awesome. Better than most places I have had BBQ in Georgia and Alabama
Counter guy seemed a little stoned, but was prompt and polite. Didn't expect the platter to come out as a sandwich and would have personally cooked it a bit less but it did have a decent smoky flavor to it
Great local BBQ.
Super delicious!! And conveniently close to the hospital.. Highly recommend
My fav bbq place in town
Great BBQ, ill be back for more
Lisa and Sahar helped us as we planned and edited and forgot and edited our reception meal over the course of 8 months. They helped us work with a tight budget and were kind, patient and responsive to our calls and emails. They helped make our " once in a lifetime " celebration a tremendous gift from God. Our family is grateful to Red Hub for treating our event as if it were their loved one's event.
Awesome smoked wings!
Will definitely come back! Finished our plates even though the portions were enough for smaller individuals like ourselves to have leftovers. Had never heard of the place, only seen it when driving by. Decided to give it a try on a whim when the BBQ bug hit us. Walked into an empty (it was before normal dinner hours), clean and well-branded place and immediately greeted by a friendly guy who took our orders. He knew his stuff and explained what you get with platters. Very helpful. He turned out to be the manager. We had a very enjoyable conversation the entire time we were there. I left with the understanding that he cares greatly about service and his food, and his passion is undeniable. It's not everyday you come across someone so outwardly passionate about their profession; I instantly felt inspired to support this company and give them regular business. But the food! Came out in good time. I had a pulled pork platter that came with a bun and hush puppies and chose a side of baked beans. Clearly everything was made in-house (except the bun). The baked beans were excellent. I personally enjoyed them on a homemade chip with the mustard sauce drizzle. The pulled pork was slightly dry, which I personally do not mind because it was very flavorful and nicely textured to eat alone. The chips are good, but nothing to write home about. The hush puppies were simple but very well executed; could munch on those all day. The sauces are each great. The Red Hub and the Bourbon Heat are favs. I'd stock my fridge with these. My husband got the BBQ sundae which felt somewhat nostalgic of Belmont BBQ's slop bucket. Since they're no longer around, I'd love to see Red Hub recreate it to include a cheesy addition. He had nothing but good things to say about the sundae.
Did not appear clean...
First and last visit today. Food was OK. The ribs and chicken we're flavored well. Sauces were good. Potato salad was flat and the house made chips were OLD and stale. Ribs had a good smoky flavor and the chicken did have a nice tender bite to it. They closed at 5, we got there about 3 so I'm not sure if that was a reason for the not so stellar feel after the recommendation we got to go there. Seems as though the cashier/food delivery person was more concerned with hiding behind the counter on his phone then asking if the meal was OK or if we wanted drink refills. Not busy at all and ALL of the tables were dirty. Really no good reason to return.
The prices are fine, the amount of food is enough, the service is very helpful and understanding, BUT the chips was tough and there was far too much pepper on it, Lexington sauce was based mostly on vinegar. Pulled pork was as expected. What was really tasty is mac'n cheese and green beans also.
