Stopped in for Lunch -- Had the Brisket w/ fries - Wonderful

Rick Venne

Awesome food, really good draft, can and bottled beer selection. Very friendly servers. Cool ambiance. You gotta check it out. Can't wait to go back

Raul Ramos

Pickled veggies added good flavor and texture!

Joanne Davidman

Food was delicious, made.my mouth so happy

RM R

Cozy place with great decor. Good draft beer selection as well. Previous lunch menu for Pork & Pickle had several sandwich options.... They used to have brisket, pulled pork, buttermilk fried chicken, and vegetarian sandwhich options and the dinner menu's Beef Rib was great, but had to get there early before ran out. I have not yet been there since changed name to Lazy Farmer, but expect it to be delicious considering previous menu.

Tim Gleason

Awesome brisket, fried chicken, pickles, and not too expensive if you're getting a sandwich. Only problem for me is the service can be slow.

Camie Starshine

very loud, crowd of diners competing with a guitarist on a microphone to be heard, so so loud. do not come into this place if you are sensory sensitive. the dining room is crowded, it doesnt flow, and the service isnt that good. I was disappointed how long it took for the meal to arrive. we were a birthday dinner of seven amd we all ate at different times. not good really. I didnt care much for the place. too lazy, too loud, too disorganized for me.

Jeff Parker

Probably the worst St Louis style ribs I've ever had. Burnt, dried out and severely over cooked. Maybe made yesterday or even before that. All fat was burned off. I'll try and post a picture. Cornbread was drier than the cheapest box mix I've ever had. Smashed potatoes was the best item I had ordered. $23 potatoes basically. Maybe try the pulled pork but do not have the ribs. Doubt they will stay in business long.

Julia McKinley

Food is great, but a bit expensive for what it is in my opinion.

Mackenna Barron

Great food.

As of right now I'm just drinking a beer but it's good. I mean, who doesn't like beer? If you don't like beer you should totally start liking beer because beer is good. I've added a photo of the beer so you can see it. Going to try the poutine.

Brody Inglis

Solid BBQ option for VT. Good beer selection, relaxed casual atmosphere.

Rustem Saliev

Best place to eat fried chicken in Essex junction!

Dan Bader

Nice cozy place. Prochetta bout it was delicious

tucker dimasi

Warm and welcoming staff great food time and time again. The owner is always either cooking or out in the dining room sitting guests. Simple but ever changing beer selection and we'll curated wine list. Working on liquor in the future (or so the rumors go)

Marty Gleason

A new incarnation of the local favorite Pork and Pickles. The hours have been reduced, and the menu varies a bit more, but otherwise not much has changed - good service, very tasty food, a good selection of craft beer, a bit cramped and noisy when it's crowded.

Girls weekend with mom and sister's description sounded good so we chose to try It. Dinner was oustanding ordered 4 different dinners and shared them every thing was outstanding. Best fried pickles ever.

Carissa Cross

Easily one of the best places to grab food that has ever been in Essex Junction. My husband and I both mourn the fact they are closed now, but at least they will still cater!

This is by far the worst experience I have ever had in any food establishment. They screwed up an app then when I told them to cancel it the waitress tried get me to take it with my main course. The food is horrible, one person has received a cold plate at my table, and took 5 extra minutes to get her plate. The drinks were empty with no one asking us if we would like more. The owner did come out and speak to us, which is very appreciated. However in my upset mood I was in no mood to listen her. But because of this expierience I will not visit or recommend it to anyone.

This place is awesome! The food tastes great and the staff is friendly. Oh, and they have a rotating selection of craft beers. We love this place, indeed. Others must love it too, because it can sometimes be really crowded, so get takeout or make a reservation if you aren't patient and go at a popular time. Edit: When I reviewed this place, it was called "Pork and Pickles" and served primarily BBQ. The same people own still it, but I think they've shifted their focus slightly.

SEBASTIAN DARENA

Great food. Fried chicken entree was golden brown crispy, moist, w/out being greasy. Great beer selection.

John Donoghue

The Lazy Farmer is a wonferful treat. Great beer, even better BBQ. The poutine is a must have. Looking forward to our next visit.

Julia Beck

Ordered sandwiches for lunch, and they were all very good. Medium portion size and pretty quick cooking time. Not a large location, but includes some outdoor seating, and the food was tasty!

Ryan Gates

Some of the food was a little too salty, will give it another try with some BBQ.

I've twice had takeout from here after tonight, and I had a really hard time giving them 4 stars after the first order... Originally we ordered a couple weeks after opening. They were out of brisket so I ordered the ribs, which I cannot recommend to anyone. Overpriced, dry not, and not very flavorful. My girlfriend had the pulled pork and that was a bit better but not great. That being said any restaurant will have their issues shortly after opening and anyone who thinks otherwise is probably a bit short sighted. After many months, tonight I decided to give them another try, and this time they had brisket! I ordered brisket, Mac n cheese and greens. The Brisk was perfect, 10/5 stars. Mac n cheese was awesome as well. Greens were solid. Tonight was a 5 star experience but after the first time, I'm not sure if there's a consistency issue or just that they do some things better than others. But I know the brisket is to die for!

No bueno no Mac and ches

Laura

Fried chicken sandwich was amazing, I cant wait to go back to get another. $5 wine on Wednesday was cool too!

Greg Fuller

Very Good. I went during their second day open for lunch. The atmosphere in the restaurant and even outside on the deck is very nice. The interior is cozy, open, and updated. Our waitress was very friendly and helpful. Service overall was excellent and we didn't wait long for the food. I had the brisket sandwich with a side of grilled greens. I wasn't overwhelmed with the portions considering the price but it was still a fair amount. The sandwich looked simply fantastic and had amazing texture. Flavor of the sandwich and the side of greens was good. The lunch menu was a little limited but this was the second day open so they will be expanding the lunch menu in the future. Currently they don't have wings or ribs on the lunch menu but hopefully soon! They also do takeout orders and the dinner menu looks very nice.

Great food great ingredients would highly recommend a visit!

Fried Chicken sandwich was amazing the brisket was pretty good we had to ask for our food to go because the bar stools were less to be desired, way too small.

Friday and Saturdays only restaurant, farm to table, barbeque. My mouth waters every time I think about the beef brisket with braised veggies!

Great local spot. Service is very friendly. [Pork&Pickles - RIP: Good selections for lunch, any of the sandwiches are great, but the fried chicken sandwich is top notch juicy and flavorful and highly recommend as well as the brisket sandwhich. For dinner recommend the beef ribs, brisket, and fried chicken as the top three. The smoked polenta looks spectacular and will try on next visit. Only downside I would say is that their pork ribs need some improvements.. so if you are a bbq afficiando pass on those and stick with the beef rib (if you have a hankering for bbq pork ribs I'd instead recommend Jericho Cafe down route 15 as a better local option)...] Just went to the new and improved Lazy Farmer restaurant for lunch. Service is still great, we had a special of chicken piccatta with fresh noodles which was excellent, and also had a falafel sandwhich which was good. The poutine with pork belly appetizer was top notch. I really like the rotating menu, get to explore Chris's cooking more, all great with the new setup.

Scott Richer

Really good BBQ. Good beer selection.

Jorge Henriques

Great food and service!

Dean Lewis

Great food, pleasant staff. Beef rib is a little weird, but worth the experience even if you don't like it. Fried chicken is the best we've had in Burlington

Kate Boudreau

Brisket was very good, ribs were very very thin.

James Hawke

Good food, service was a little slow. Sit outside though, inside was smokey from the grill.

Christopher Lei

If you are familiar with the Burlington food truck scene, the owner here also runs the Lazy Farmer. This is the same price point as Bluebird BBQ. I prefer this spot over Bluebird as I don't feel heavy after eating here, but am still full. This place also has a great fried chicken sandwich during lunch.

If you want beautiful, delicious food at your event, served out of the most charming vintage trailer, then you are in the right place! We just had Lazy Farmer cater our daughter's wedding at Champlain Valley Alpacas in Bridport. Literally everything was delicious--the fried chicken and honey skewers, the grilled cilantro shrimp, pork belly wraps...everyone was carrying on how delicious it was--even before dinner! Chris served our guests from his vintage trailer--so many things to choose from, and all delicious. The folks at the alpaca farm said hands down, Lazy Farmer was the best food they'd had at any wedding there this year. Can't wait to go check out his restaurant. Thank you, Chris, for making our event amazing.

Portion size was good, flavor was ok. Poutine is excellent if in the mood for just an appetizer but all of the entrees just lacked that extra “pop” for the price point.

Robin Simard

Yummy fried chicken. My favorite right now is the burger. The ribs are great.

Sebastian D'Arena

This place truly is a hidden gem, maybe call it a hole in the wall but I feel like the decor is way too nice for that...In same lot as West Meadow Bakery at Essex Jctn. Food was fresh & full of flavor. Had pork belly app w/butter leaf lettuce wraps--awesome sauce! And fried chix entree w/salad as a side. Chix was perfectly golden brown, had great crispness, & best part was it was juicy & moist w/out being greasy. There was a slightly overwhelming taste from the oil it was cooked in (I couldn't place if it was lard or canola?) nothing to fret over. Great beer selection too. Definitely go to this restaurant! It's priced fairly & food is high quality.

Scott Ptak

Incredible food!

andrew madison

What's a barbecue but it's not a barbecue place however they do have barbecue ribs but no no other BBQ. However they do Serve American type food they have some fried chicken that was very good and asparagus. Definitely will go back again to try some of the other items on the menu.

Mark Malmros

Fabulous food only to be outdone by the prices and service!

lisa fargo

Happy they have put burgers on the menu!

This Lazy Farmer Restaurant & Catering is one of the best place. The food is awesome.

Trevor Hindson

Delicious

Good local food

Jrock Woodside

Loved it! We ordered three different items so we could all try different entrees. The portions for the entrees are huge! I had the beef ribs which I rarely see offered at most places. It was amazing. My wife had the fried chicken and she said it was among the best she has had. My daughter is a pulled pork expert and loved her plate. We'll be back and I look forward to trying other items on the menu. Love the low key atmosphere and it had a good beer selection

Rick F

Food is fabulous. We have been back 7 or 8 times with friends and relatives and everyone has enjoyed the food. The fried chicken is our favorite; large portion, basically half a chicken; crisp, moist and flavorful. The pickled plate is always good and ever changing with a variety of vegetables. The brisket is the best you will find in the Northeast. They also carry a great selection of beers on tap and in bottles (local and national) and always something new and interesting every time we go. You cannot go wrong with Pork and Pickles. Truly a hidden treasure.

Ryan Wobby

Jim Ski

Brisket sandwich for lunch. Looking forward to coming back for dinner menu some time.

Dave McGuriman

A few things were ok but the overall experience was lackluster. Brisket was dry and chewy.

Bert Munger

If you think you like chicken, you need to eat here. It is so good it will ruin chicken for you any place else.

Galen Okoniewski

Poutine was bomb, famous fried chicken was delicious but expensive for a college student such as myself.. also there should be like a huge jar of pickles staring you in face when you come in. Overall nice meal

Abbie Senesac

Food was pretty good, but the prices were very high for what we got. Appetizers are small plates, entrees were OK but again didn't reflect pricing. We had a beer each, one appetizer and two entrees and the bill was almost $70 not including tip. Honestly, I wanted to love it and try and support small business, but this place just didn't do it for us.

J P

I like this place. Nice environment. I met Chris, the owner tonight, he seems like a really nice guy. My favorite waitress there is Brittany, the short, blond one... such a nice girl.

Jon Simard

Pure greatness! I am going to eat here every week
