Ordered a caesar salad, fries, and gingerale through GrubHub and got all the wrong things. The salad was simply browning lettuce and croutons with the wrong dressing. No ginger ale. The fries were alright but clearly not fresh. Living in Troy for most of my life, I expected better quality from such a staple of the community. Very disappointed, not at all worth the price.

The food was amazing. I have zero complaints about the food. It was hot and fresh. This issue I had was our service wasn’t all that great. Karley was a server. She seemed like a nice girl just very chatty. My complaint is we could here conversations she would have with coworkers and it was very unprofessional with what she was talking about. Their friends I understand but it shouldn’t be discussed in the work place and if so maybe a bit quieter. I would defiantly go back but maybe ask for a different server.

We were in town for a wedding reception and friends reached out to meet for breakfast Saturday. We both picked Illium for its reputation. None of us were impressed. I got the corned beef hash with 2 eggs on top instead of the usual single egg. The waitress said it was very popular. There was a sauce on top, something this foodie has never encountered. The hash was primarily fried potato cubes, with random chunks of corned beef. I didn't like it. My wife got their shrimp Benedict. Another of us considered that, until it was described. He and his wife both had the breakfast plate. My wife had the eggs Benedict with shrimp, a sweet and sour fried shrimp with a poached egg on red pepper and other things on a muffin. They called it Cajun. We go to New Orleans often. It wasn't Cajun, just "affected". She didn't like it. I got one of two individual portions. I ate one shrimp and tried the muffin. It was so so, but I was hungry. The sangria was also a disappointment. We expected a liter. We did get a carafe, but it was completely full of ice, as we're both glasses. We each got one glass from the carafe. The coffee was the best part of the meal, but the original cup was just fairly warm, not hot. I got a fresh cup after one top off. We were fortunate it was market day. We left, and I got a pint of ice cream to tide me over. A poor value for the $90 I spent (including an almost 15% tip).

Got take out from this place today. Pleasently surprised. I got the smoked salmon sandwich. Really tasty, not over salty and filling. My partner got the cornbeef sandwich and fries. Equally delicious. I will definitely be back to check out more of the menu.

They used to have unique sandwiches and paninis. Now they have this plain stuff you can find anywhere, and they completely over price it. When they had their unique options, I was fine with paying 9 or 10 dollars. And their portions are small, I don't leave satisfied. Nice ppl tho and good service. Soups are delicious as are their actual dishes/specials. The menu isn't lacking in flavor at all, definitely gotta give them that.

Illium was an excellent experience all around. The food they made was fresh, flavorful, and un-pretentious. The staff was courteous and not overbearing. The atmosphere was warm and cozy and all the staff really felt like they were moving as one well oiled machine. We went in for breakfast and got smoked lox on a bagel (a NY classic) and a country hash Benedict made with sausage, a perfectly poached egg and some of the best Hollandaise I have tasted. Excellent coffee variaties too from Lattes to Espresso shots. Give this place a go, you won't be disappointed!

Love their food, especially the salmon BLT wrap. 4~5 years ago, they used to make it light (less mayonnaise) and it got a bit heavier. Regardless, I could eat it every day. That good. Update 2019: their Salmon BLT is back to their original taste! I've taken friends and family from various backgrounds and those with a sophisticated palette also spoke so highly of their food as well. My husband especially loves the scallop and pork sandwich on a chibata, their pancakes are always a hit with my mom, and their egg Benedict and other sandwiches are phenomenal. Can't believe such a high quality food restaurant is located in Troy NY. One tiny thing to point out is, I dont like being seated in the back as there is a wet/moldy/old church basement smell that gets me nervous about black mold. But that's just me. 05/20/2019 update. Tasted sour. I wonder if the chef changed?

Great escape from the biting cold. The vanilla latte was smooth and not bitter at all. They have a great espresso menu to offer. The muffin was delightful as well and very buttery. Unfortunately I didn't get to eat an entree here because we only stumbled upon the place after having lunch and shopping, but the staff was super friendly even though it was crazy busy and the few items I did have were great. I'll definitely have to come back to eat.

My wife and I stop in for breakfast a lot and every time the food is on point. I pretty much get something different every time. Last time I had a fish (I believe it was snapper) benedict, which sounds weird but it was awesome. I have had their smoked salmon and lox which is great too. Last time we stopped for lunch and had the Mozzarella Chicken Melt and the Ultimate Grilled Cheese, both were great. Can't wait to go back

I love this place. Very nice atmosphere and Lovely staff. Menu is limited but they most often have very nice specials for the day, make sure you ask about them. My favorite is their corned beef, very very tasty! A word of advice, if you sit inside your cloth most likely get the food smell since their kitchen is not enclosed. I prefer to sit in the back or outside if possible.

I love Marla. Great family business which had slowly but surely grown in capacity and ambience over the years. What's always been fantastic has been the way she is able to reach all the corners of the palate. Some ingredient combinations might surprise you, but try the dish and you will be amazed. My favorite lunch place for a date or business. I most often eat one of the specials, which are different every day. Very rarely do I eat off the menu, as her more spontaneous creations are something to experience. I don't consider myself a foodie, but if you are and coming to #enjoytroy do not miss Ilium Cafe!

You get what you pay for, Kinda. Openly serves those who would prefer to spend their mornings protesting one of the only affordable health care institues left. And protest for something they don't even do, because their ignorant. Full Review below. Service isn't fast, wait staff will literally go on break before giving you your recipt for check out, and the structure of the staff is so poor that it'll take them ~10 minutes to let you pay for the food. The food itself is mediocre at best, ordered a simple sandwich with added mozzarella and fries, apparently 'added' means an extra charge and substitution. Instead of two cheeses they simply removed the first and substituted it. Prices aren't terrible if you've only got 15$ on you, so that's pretty good. However when you watch an entire anti-planned parenthood protest file into the place with signs in hand be seated, you understand the values of the establishment.

Great atmosphere in this lil cafe. Food options were definitely limited, but the quality of most the items my party ordered were excellent quality and just enough to fill you up without overloading you. Service was good. Only downside was the amount of ahi tuna in my salad, as I expected for the price, and the cook on my aunts steak was well passed well done. Otherwise the quality and quantity was excellent

Just ate brunch there...I knew better, but someone I was eating with insisted on trying it. The food was not good. I was served a plate of "hash". The waitress knew that I would be dissatisfied with my order, gave me a warning of what the chef thinks "hash" is. For the "chef": hash is not a plate of 1/2 inch cubes of deep fried potatoes and beef shoulder. You need to makem1/8 inch cubes of potatoes and corned beef and fry it on your flat top. When I make it I use two cleavers to quickly chop the beef and potatoes. And hash has NEVER been served with hollandaise. Last the menu appears as though a child with no knowledge of food pairings or training prepared it. I also liked when the chef came out and had an impromptu meeting with the wait staff to tell at them about not having a hostess and that they needed to let her know what the dining room looked like. Super professional! And what's the deal with the buzzer in the dining room to let servers know an order is up?! Super annoying. In summary, this place is amateur hour with mediocre to poor food.

The team at Illium catered a bridal shower at The Leona Grace Ballroom in Troy for me. The process of booking and creating the menu was simple and easy. On the day of, they did such an amazing job! We had many compliments on their professionalism and the food (which was delish!). For anyone who has thrown a shower for 40+ women, it's hard to be able to enjoy the day while running around. Hiring them allowed us to host a high class event and actually experience it as a guest as well! Highly recommend!
