The complimentary salsa was a bit too spicy for my kids, we ordered kids meals and the Mocajete with delicious green sauce over, pork, chicken, steak, cactus and cheese. It was huge and so good. We look forward to trying the grill one next time.

WARNING: DO NOT ORDER EXTRA MEAT!!! Imagine visiting a restaurant, ordering an entree, requesting extra meat and when the bill comes you are being charged for 2 entrees. This was my experience. 2 entrees + 2 drinks= $73 for 2 people. Mind you I just visited a bar/restaurant in downtown with my wife and ordered 1 appetizer, 3 drinks, 2 entrees and our bill was the same as a casual Mexican restaurant. No manager or owner to plead my case on a Saturday afternoon. ZERO willingness to just charge me for the extra meat. To make matters worse they charged me for 2 full entrees while only serving one portion of sides. Shame on you Chile Amor!!! SHAME ON YOU!!!

I wanted to love this place. So many people had recommended it. It is a true hole in the wall sort of place. The exterior is worn but the inside has been renovated. I ordered the chile verde enchiladas. They weren't bad but they were not particularly special either. Maybe I ordered the wrong thing. But nothing from this visit stood out enough to justify a return visit.

The al pastor tacos here are TO DIE FOR. Plus it's such a cute little spot, sorta hidden in plain sight off Beck St. I'll definitely be back to try more of their undeniably delicious and wonderfully authentic food. after 9 months of driving by I finally stopped in on a Friday evening. Had a small wait but worth it. Was treated to super friendly staff and had some of the best mole I've had. Definitely get it with grilled chicken. The horchata complimented the meal as well. Will be back!

I'd give it 3.5. Considering this is supposed to be a traditional Mexican restaurant it would be better if they used lard for cooking because the Conola oil tastes cheap. I've only had a couple versions of enchiladas so far, it's pretty average food. Good salsa

I love this place and feel it is some of the best authentic Mexican food in SLC. As every good Mexican restaurant does, Chile Amor starts with complimentary chips and homemade salsa. The salsa has some kick to it and isn't bland like at other restaurants. I typically order the Parrilladas with carne asada y pollo asado. This dish definitely feeds 2 people. The meat comes out sizzling on a unique platter. In addition to the meat, the parrilladas include tortillas, quesadillas, beans, grilled veggies, and bean and cheese tacos. It is quite the spread and everything is delicious. The meat is seasoned perfectly. Try the homemade horchata too. It isn't overly sweet but is a great blend.

Small, authentic Mexican diner right off Highway 89 in North Salt Lake. Set in a smaller location overlooking the great salt lake basin. Food is well prepared and very good portions. Chips and salsa are great. Sometimes service has been slower, but it seems that is improving. Good for dates or family events.

This is a really good "hole in the wall" restaurant. We walked in and were greeted very nicely. We were seated immediately and served chips and salsa (which they have on sale to take home). Alex was our waiter and he was excellent. We asked for food suggestions and went with his recommendation of mixed platters. I got the chile rellenos, cheese enchilada, and chicken tamale. It came with rice with corn, beans, guac, and lettuce. Everything tasted great, except the enchilada. It was okay at best, but I would definitely recommend the food. We also ordered the horchata to drink and it was excellent. It was just the right amount of sweet and cinnamon, and the whole experience was wonderful. The prices were affordable as well. Thanks guys. I'll be back again.

I love this place. From the decor to the staff, it's just humble and comfortable. You can also see the kitchen, so when you feel like your food might be taking a little bit, you can see that the cooks are banging food out as quickly as they can while keeping a standard. I've had the same waiter both times I've been here, and he's hands down the best waiter I've ever had. If you come here you won't regret it! Just be aware they don't have a liquor license, so don't expect beer.

I have been here several times and have really enjoyed it. I previously rated this restaurant at 5 stars but recently I haven't been impressed. We ordered taco salads and read online about the ingredients on the salad but only a handful of the items were on the salad. We called to inform them and we were told that they did put all the ingredients on... Disappointed in the customer service.

Went there on a fluke. Discovered a unicorn of Mexican food! The burritos were incredible, the queso- the everything. Wow. You walk in, and you pass an open kitchen. Again, any restaurant that has the chops to do that starts out with high marks from me. The service was super, it felt comfortable, it felt right. No hovering, yet somehow appeared when needed. If you want food that tastes like Abuela made it- go to Chile Amor. Why 4 stars? Getting to the parking was a bit crazy... But- worth it. TOTALLY
