REVIEWS OF Saffron Indian Cuisine IN South Carolina

Carol Brennon Tousey

I simply must eat at Saffron every time I'm in Greenville. I always order the Chicken Masala lunch medium spiced because it has become my hands down favorite and I crave it when I can't have it. But everything on the menu and buffet is delish. Best naan and basmati rice you'll ever have.

Danielle Duffy

Just the smells as you enter are worth five stars. Delicious

Caleb Simpson

Saffron is one of the most unique restaurants in Greenville. The restaurant caters to Indian themed dishes and offers a lunch buffet, or a normal menu selection during lunch and the afternoon. Although there is much debate to how authentic the dishes are, there is no debate regarding the quality of the food. I would highly advise trying Saffron if you are in the area.

Brenda Ortiz

Very good taste, good dishes, Naan is very good, Indian beers, very friendly, good service, different dishes. We chose pick two meals ( complete). Parking lot.

melissa hopson

We eat at Saffron's at least once a month. We have never had bad food or bad service. It has always been awesome! Been going there for several years now. You will not be disappointed!

Amanda Crowe

when ordering, they ask how hot you want your meal. very nice.

Jen Jones

Amazing food! And most food gluten free.

ER Godwin

Excellent indian authentic food!

Consuelo Chastain

Delicious spicy fragrant food. Lunch buffet is exceptional!

Lisa Andrews

Tasty food and plenty of it. My husband loved the naan. When we are back in the area we will definitely go again.

Cheryl Rivera

The food is amazing. The service is amazing. If your looking for an authentic Indian Cuisine go here. A definite go-to.

Jason Barden

Best Indian food in Greenville. Fast and friendly staff and fresh tasty food. Don't let the location fool you

HolliesWood

The best Indian food in Greenville, by a long shot. I recommend going for the lunch buffet. The food quality is just as high as what you would get for the dinner service, you have a ton of options to choose from, and it's under 10$ per person.

Anna Adams

Great atmosphere, delicious food, and the staff is knowledgeable about ingredients/ accommodating to vegans.

John S

Excellent food at a good price for lunch.

Mohammad arain

Very clean restaurant, variety of dishes for lunch buffet. And price are very reasonable. Highly recomend. Thumbs up

Bryan T

Ordered goat curry for take out. It was seasoned perfectly. Unfortunately it was mostly bones (back spine chopped with a butcher's cleaver) and not much meat. The chicken tikka was awesome however. Would probably go back again but would order something else. 3+ Stars but it could have been five.

Paula Shaia

The BEST Indian food I've ever had! Great atmosphere. Mango dishes are wonderful. Tandoori shrimp excellent! You will not be disappointed.

Lee Ann Fuller

I simply LOVE THIS PLACE. They have a very pleasant staff who always makes sure that you're welcome. The food is Amazing. I mean AMAZING. I love when they are at the Fall For Greenville Festival. Food is great. I highly recommend this if you like Indian food. The owner is very pleasant also. I wish I could give 100 stars.

Nikki Dutton

I was excited to see what the hype was all about. I went for the lunch buffet. There was a nice selection. The food was mediocre at best. I absolutely love Indian cuisine and this was by far the most bland, non-distinct fare I have ever had. I have made tikka masala with more flavor than this. The staff was very professional and moved very quickly and efficiently to move the crowd along and they turned over tables very expeditiously. The naan was good. I came close to finishing my plate because I was hungry, but honestly the food was nothing to write home about. On a bright note the restaurant had nice decor.

Kendra Skellenger

I love this place! Whether you go for lunch and get the ever changing buffet that gives you the opportunity to try all kinds of foods you would never have known you love or go for dinner and get to order some old favorites, you will have a good experience. My favorite Indian restaurant in greenville when I lived here and now that I’ve moved, I have been unable to find its equal.

Elizabeth Greer

I really can't complain about anything other than it was a little loud. Service was prompt and attentive and the food here is always delicious. We find the prawns, whether tandoori it otherwise, particularly good. Also I like that I can order my food spicy and it's actually spicy! Sorry we dove in too quickly for pictures!

Hristu Chepa

The reviews are right. This place is outstanding! Excellent food and service. We had the buffet at lunch time and it was great. The rice, nunn bread, tandoori chicken, and all the others were very tasty and cooked to perfection. I highly recommend this Indian restaurant. Oh, and the prices were reasonable too. Lunch buffet was $10.

Pete Dezzi

Excellent food!

Michael Thai

Take my girlfriend here all the time. Service is very attentative and amazing quality in food. Lunch is buffet and dinner is menu items

Janet W.

Great Indian cuisine at good prices! Lots of choices for vegetarians and vegans.

Miss Yvonne

This place is amazing! The food was well made abd the naan was exceptional. Im definitely going back

Chrissy Barbusca

Excellent food and service. Authentic Indian food. The naan bread is fantastic.

boudicca storm

Super awesome. This was my first experience with Indian food, and I am hooked now. Very clean restaurant with friendly staff, good buffet selection.

Gretchen Cox

Lots of great items at Saffron but everyone should try the vegetable samosas. Crispy shell filled with spicy vegetables including potatoes and peas. Tamarind dipping sauce is the perfect blend of sweet and sour.

Big Kahuna

This is absolutely my favorite place to eat in the Greenville /Spartanburg. The food is absolutely amazing the staff is very courteous. If I could rate this place 10 stars I would Jimmy / Celina Anderson

Benjamin Eisman

My wife and I love coming here for lunch. It offers great food, and it feels like you're eating at an upscale place, but its inexpensive. Worth going to try out

Daniel Justice

Having only been here one time, I was amazed by the quality of food. You know it’s good when lots of families of the same ethnicity are dining in. From the lentil appetizer to the rich curry dishes to hot loose leaf teas and soups, this is one of my favorite restaurants in Greenville. Entree sizes and prices are amazing. They have a ton of dairy and gluten free options as well and handle to-go orders with ease. Be sure to dine the first time. The experience is awesome!

Sandra Markovich

Very clean, well stocked buffet and great service. The flavors were very different than the Indian restaurants in my town(Charleston) but very flavorful! Many vegetarian options and for the first.time at an Indian restaurant, I ate a beef dish! Also very affordable compared to a lunch buffet in Charleston $10 per adult and $5 per kid

R Wobbly

We had tried their buffet several years ago, so recently while spending the night in Greenville we made sure to try their evening meal. We were not disappointed. I ordered the lamb saag with a side order of garlic naan. It was truly delicious beyond description. The eating area and wash rooms were very clean. The dining area was pleasant, seating very comfortable. The service was fast and very attentive. My wife and I couldn't have had a better overall experience. Highly recommend.

Na Jin Seo

Good lunch buffet. Kids rate available.

alok sahu

Occasionally I visit this restaurant nice ambience, good food and service. Usually the food taste is average palatable. Starters are good, most of the curry gravy and ingredients are separable which makes it less delicious(Kadahi Panner = Paneer + Separate Gravy).Biryani is not upto the mark it's not Dum biryani and taste like Veg pullao or Tomato rice in few occasion.Suggestion: Manchurian and chilly paneer etc type of food items are missing in the menu.

Terri Luc

Buffet was excellent! I've never eaten Indian before and was very pleased. My daughter talked me into going and I'm glad she did. I wanted a Chinese buffet. But this was so much better. The flavors and spices were so different for each dish. The service staff was adequate but could have added a better ambiance to what was a very good experience. In spite of the staff not being very friendly I will definitely return.

Roswitha Peters

On the weekends it doesn't open until 12 pm by 11:45 people were lined up outside to get in..This was my first visit so now I see why! Very delicious buffet with plenty of vegetarian options. Ordered the vegetable samosas and a mango lassi, they were very good. We will be back again.

Marty Hill

Hard to rate the food, as we were able to both smell and see the buffet, but were told that alas, even though we entered this emporium of Indian comestibles at precisely 2.10 p.m. eastern time (after noting the closing time of 2.30 p.m. on the entrance), we were first asked if we had arrived for lunch (if Sherlock Holmes has an Indian great-grand daughter, our host was evidently not her). We obviously answered in the affirmative, to which the response was 'sorry we close at 2.00'. 'But your sign says 2.30, we opined'. 'yes, we have asked someone to come and change the times on the entrance' Really? Who did you entrust with this Herculean task? The local Baker? A scruffy but rather debonair gynacologist from the hospital up the road? Maybe a quick call to the sign makers or printers may hasten the required work. Either way, get the bloody signage changed asap! It's no fun walking into a restaurant to smell and see the food, but not be able to sample it. As it happens, a 10 minute ride took us to the Indian Palace, where not only were their published hours correct (open 'til 3), but they allowed us to infiltrate their place of purveyance, where we were able to over-indulge our enormous appetites. 5 stars!

Tom Fields

Exceptional food, service, and experience! I’ve been a long time fan of Saffron, and what you are reading is right - the lunch buffet is absolutely not to be missed! As another reviewer wrote, the spice level has been turned down a bit (probably to accommodate Western tastebuds not used to heavy heat). It’s a fantastic price for quality food and service. A great place to take people who aren’t sure they like Indian cuisine, as they have something for everyone, and if you do go to the buffet, you can try many things you maybe wouldn’t order as an entree. Love this place!

EASTWOOD Henderson

My 3 step rating. Maybe it was too busy but my waitress did not check on us for the entire dinner. I guess we just became just another table/check. Dinner was succulent but the rice was not basmati rice. The manager tried to educate me on the type of rice but it was lumpy and did not have the length and fragrance of your traditional basmati rice. 1. Ok customer service 2. Rice wasn't appealing 3. Overall dinner experience was ok. 3 stars. I would look for another restaurant to compete with this one.

Peter P

This is one of my and my wife's favorite places to eat!! The staff is very attentive to you and the food is delicious. If you like and can handle hot and spicy I would suggest you try their Chicken 65!! It's not listed on their menu but they do make it. Hope you enjoy Saffron as much as we do!!!

Stephania Talley- Priester

Food was amazingly great. Fresh and seasoned to perfection.

K H

Food is consistently delicious. Staff is always courteous. Comfortable and relaxed setting.

Leo Luna

I've been coming around Greenville SC for over 10 years. I have tried dozens of Indian restaurants and Saffron so far has been my number one Indian restaurant in SC. Thanks again for your great service and food!

Samantha Alexander

Loved this place! Awesome lunch buffet!

Leann Lane

Amazing little restaurant. The food is flavorful and well prepared.

Rozarius Darkest

Fast unobtrusive service. And best Indian food in the upstate. No where else matches

Gargi Bhosale

The chicken biryani that we ordered was one of the best I have tasted in South Carolina. The chunks of chicken were moist, tender and in good quantity. They initially gave us Masala Papad on the house. The staff also offered complementary rice along with our food. The staff was professional. Every dish had a significant taste. I would love to visit this place again and try other dishes.

Raghu Raman

Good Quality Hotel with good service !

h The god Gaming

Best Indian food and mint chutney in Greenville

Randy Carver

A wonderful meal with Rev. Pat & brother Bill Jobe, Jim King and his super duper girlfriend....a seamless connection, a step back in time and a plan for the future. Connie and I adored the experience....the food always fantabulous!

Kerry S

Hands-down the best Indian restaurant in Greenville. Excellent, authentic cuisine and attentive, friendly service make for a dining experience that you'll want to repeat every week! Can't recommend it enough. (Here's a menu secret: order a mix of their sweet tea and spiced tea-- you won't regret it!)

Lorena Blackmon

We didn't have a reservation but they sat rather quickly. Our drinks were kept filled and the servers and staff were very attentive and helpful. The food was superb and my husband and I will definitely be back, we were both very impressed.

ibanez222jls

We came for a Valentine's dinner and it was absolutely fabulous.. The food was fabulous the price was excellent

amilia jaikaran

The food is good, but the service sucks

Ruchi Jain

We went there for buffet. The food was good but felt unhealthy afterwards. The stomach was upset. Wonder if they use soda or other similar additive in their food to make it tasty. The service is good.

Dan Declan

The lunch buffet is really good, we come here often for it. The customer service is usually reserved but amiable and polite, this may be a cultural difference however as I don’t think I’ve met many Indian-descent people who are gregarious. The atmosphere is nice.

veronica cadavid

Excellent Indian cuisine! Coconut curry was delicious!

Mike Weldon

Excellent and delicious food! The restaurant is very nice, the staff are friendly and the buffet provides great choices during lunch.

Ron Seagraves

The service and food were excellent. I took relatives from PA here and it was their first time eating in an Indian restaurant. They were impressed and we all enjoyed the experience.

Gina Francis

Good food...polite servers. I would return.

Patrick L

From the decor to the service and then especially the food! I got paneer masala with garlic naan... Savory with just the right amount of kick. The Jasmin rice blended perfectly with the meal. My friend got the paneer saag and while it was delicious, she ended up looking the masala just as much as I did. Totally worth the money for what you get.

Alexis

The naan, chai, and vegetable korma are amazing. A new go-to for my family!

Will Jones

Fantastic Indian food and great place to try if you never have had any. Our first time the owner came out and personally recommended dishes to us. Very friendly owner and staff. Would highly recommend especially if you would like to try something new!

Vamsi Krishna Chandolu

Worst experience I ever had with family and kids . After settling at a table we haven’t been asked for order for 20 mins until asked some one to take it..... will never visit again...and not recommend.. We order naan , roti and panir kadai... we completely disappointed with the Tate none of the ingredients cooked marinated and it’s completely with water...

David K

Lunch buffet is awesome. Definitely a great way to try several different dishes!

Sameer Sangvikar

Nice restaurant. Good if you dont want spicy food. Good with sweets and non veg items. Dinner is recommended than Buffet.

Christian Groever

Quite good food, athmosphere unfortunately not so nice

Rita Arrigo

My husband and I and just about all our friends have been coming to Saffron for years... We’ve eaten at a number of Greenville restaurants and find the food and service at Saffron is exemplary!!! The waitstaff is superior!!! No matter how long it’s been since you’ve been there last, they never forget you and your favorite dishes!!!!

Duran Nair

The daily lunch buffet has a fresh variety each day and keeps me coming back!

Erin Angiola

Wonderful fresh food. Great service. This is for sure our favorite Indian restaurant!

John Alexander

Good food and good service :)

Matt Grubb

This is definitely our favorite Indian food restaurant in the local area. Diverse flavors, nice choices, and good prices. I always look forward to going there.

Charity Mobley

Food is so good at a great price

The MountainGirl

Amazing service and amazing food!!! Delicously spiced and cooked to perfection!!!

sleepchamber

Very enjoyable meal. Everything we tasted on the buffet was delicious. Highly recommended if you like Indian cuisine!

Paul Dicicco

First experience of at Saffron's lunch buffet. Lots of variety for both vegetarian eaters and meat eaters. Most tables were full yet the buffet never lacked for food. Nicely spiced for buffet food. Very nice decor. Staff was friendly. Drinks were repeatedly refilled without asking. Highly recommend.

Chirag Desai

Excellent indian cuisine. Good service and frandly nature.....

Grant Woodward

Among Greenville's best restaurants. Amazing, delicious food that's extremely authentic while still accessible to people who know nothing about Indian food. Incredible lunch buffet. Wonderful service and atmosphere, as well.

Justin Webb

Went in with a party of 7, every single dish was excellent. If you want Indian food, don't go anywhere else. The service and food have always been top-shelf at Saffron. Try the lamb, it's perfection!

Vibhav Agarwal

Let me say... This might be a good place for an americanized version of Indian food or their tandoor. Other items are just not good. We ordered a few vegetarian items and they were either bland or not cooked properly. Some items are not supposed to be bland and creamy - - I repeat, cream cannot go with everything. Finally their customer service... They seemed way too much in a hurry to get us out. When my wife was still working on her plate, they were asking whether we need to go boxes or our bill. It was everyone was trained to do that - - good for business i guess. The owner came walking to us and asked, how's the food. And before I could answer, he had breezed past our table... If you need and have an appetite for real Indian food and courtesy, skip this place.

Mark Willis

Will do in a pinch but act as if they're doing you a favor when you eat there.

William Apelian

Always excellent! The problem is restraining oneself from the bounty.

Joachim Indermaur

Northern style Indian food served by a friendly and competent team of servers. The restaurant has a decent wine selection and offers a wide variety of meals including vegetarian options to a fair price. No TV screens can be found (at least in my recollection), which is a must in a restaurant where you want to have a good meal with family, friends or a date. The location is convenient and the only little thing worth mentioning as a downside is the amount of available parking space.

Lori Sova

My husband and I stopped there for dinner on 9/27/18. The restaurant was amazing! The ambience and music set the mood for a wonderful dining experience. The staff was most gracious and accommodating. The food was wonderful! We will definitely return.

Todd Dalrymple

They made the tikka masala with coconut milk instead of dairy milk. Extraordinary results. Best Indian food south of DC.

Teresa Fails

Indian lunch buffet with a selection of vegetarian and non-vegetarian selections. The food is fresh and kept hot. Succulent choices. I usually try some of everything. I always leave full and satisfied. Nothing is overly spicy, but always full of flavor. Definitely give this place a try as soon as possible.

Francisco Gonzalez

This is the typical case of a wonderful restaurant, excellent food quality, taste and customer service and overall very good experience were they are just getting short in space/room. We recommend it big time. We come once a week at least. We hope they continue excelling.

Sondra Best

The lunch buffet was incredible! That was the best tandoori chicken I have ever had. There is a wide variety of dishes for all tastes, and it's all good. This was my husband's first time eating Indian food, and now he's hooked too. The staff is very friendly. We will definitely be back next time we come through Greenville.

lara larson

The vegetable curry is perfection

Will Harperette

THEY GAVE ME FOOD POISIONING! I ate there a couple days ago and the food seemed alright. But ever since then, my stomach has been in excruciating pain. I have had diharrea every single day. The pain is starting to cease because I took Pepto Bismol.

Karen Serwatowski

A little slow when they are really busy like tonight but the food was worth waiting for!

Nell

Highly recommend the dinner for two. Great food with every course. Good prices on wine and beer.

PRASHANTH AG

The best place in Greenville for Indian food, the taste exactly the authentic Indian flavor. The staff is very cool and friendly... Even the cost is reasonable... It's been three weeks I have been visiting the place and enjoying the food with my friends. It's never bore for me to visit again and again...

arjun parameswaran

Good ambience and service. As an Indian, I feel the food is suited more to the American taste.

Rosario C Pintado

The food was delicious and great service. We will be back.

J lomax

My sisters, myself and our children ate here saturday night.we enjoyed everything from our appetizers to the many meat and vegetable dishes we ordered.the breads too So much flavor in each dish.we will be back

Shane Huffman

Fantastic Indian food. Always busy for a reason. Service is top notch. Buffet always refilled quickly.

Richard Sherman

I typically avoid restaurants with a buffet but Saffon's lunch buffet is the exception. They have a very busy lunch crowd so the food is turned over rapidly so it's always fresh and delicious. There are a wide variety of choices ranging from mild to spicy; vegetarian or carnivore; cold or hot. What is also remarkable is that the buffet menu will vary from day to day.

James Norris

It's the best Indian restaurant in town. Your best deal is the buffet, which always has a good selection that will fill you up. They even have a couple Indian beers to choose from that are good.

Barrett Poole

This restaurant is amazing. The food is divine and the waiter must have refilled our water like 8 times, so nice. This is one the places that is always on my list of restaurants to go to whenever I visit Greenville.

pooja gehani

Love everything on buffet and menu ....miss and reminds me of India.....

Brian Gallagher

Amazing food and great service! New favorite place to eat!!!

Katherine Verbunt

Picked up take out but what service I received was great. Very good food and big servings. Love the bread basket. Definitely going back.

Wilma Rodriguez-Linton

Excellent service, tasty food, wonderful price.

David Holyfield

I love Saffron. I usually go on Sundays right after they open. The only thing that I can complain about is that I find large pieces of the spices in the food sometimes, like cardamom. I love cardamom but biting into a piece of a pod is extremely unpleasant. Hopefully they can tighten up in the kitchen and work on not letting undesirable parts of spices and vegetables get into the food. The bread here is to die for.

S Duncan

Definitely my favorite Indian restaurant in Greenville so far! Awesome and friendly staff, quick service, and delicious food.

Manuel Alejandro Jaime Leon

Marvelous! Simply outstanding flavor and service! Fair price.

Angela Papadis

Great spot for lunch or dinner. From 11:30-2:30 they have a lunch buffet for $10.95, not including drink. Nice selection of different things to try and they are always adding different items. Tandoori chicken is always featured at lunch. They also have a great menu selection, if you do not want the buffet. Reasonable priced and a nice atmosphere too.

Jacqueline McAbee

Really good food. Clean, well stocked buffet. Waitstaff is very efficient and friendly. Cloth napkins and tablecloths.

Andrew Choudhry

I came here for the lunch buffet and it was good for the price($9.95). The food is very light on the spice and to me too toned down. I enjoy when Indian food is authentic and spicy and this was not the case here. The food is mild at best and great for people who do not like spice.

Baljit Kaur

Amazing place for dinner and lunch. Costumize your food, hot, spicy, mild, or non. Very relaxing and a perfect place for family dinner or date. Veg and non veg. Items. Good quality food, and very deliciouse. Try it, and your life will change.

Belinda Frisch

Second trip to Saffron and our experiences are pretty similar, though it’s been a while since we’ve been. Super clean front of the house, good food, and slower service. Friendly folks with some of the best Indian food we’ve found in Greenville. The iced Indian Spiced Tea is delicious with cardamom and cinnamon and the garlic naan is fantastic. I ordered chicken vindallo with potatoes, slightly hotter than medium, and it was perfectly spiced. My husband ordered a chicken dish that had an “M” in it that neither of us had heard of before and it was delicious. I scooped up some of his sauce for my rice. It was mild-medium with a hint of maybe coconut? Really, really good. I think they’re a little light handed with the heat at Saffron compared with other Indian restaurants I’ve been to, which isn’t a bad thing. If you like hot-hot though, you might want to order closer to a nine or ten. I can’t wait to go back for more of that tea and to try something new. You can’t go wrong with pretty much any of their dishes.

Monica Iversen

Went for a lunch & this place was packed. I did not try the buffet, but everything my table ordered was fresh & delicious. The garlic naan was made fresh as well. Yummy!

Dustin Jefferies

Hey guys and gals. This place is legit. If you are in town for a visit or live here take the time to visit here. Many GF or Celiac's friendly options as well as Veg options. High five Saffron!

Jim Black

Best Indian cuisine in Greenville.... worth the drive from Easley!

Hersh Shah

Have been several times and it is always a pleasure! Food is good and there are several options for lunch buffet! Favorite Indian restaurant in Greenville!

Kaitlyn

This restaurant is truly amazing. The service was excellent. The food was great and it was very affordable. I went on Friday for the lunch buffet and I was surprised with how cheap it was. I will definitely be back.

Tim S

Great food. Favorite Indian food in Greenville.

Christopher Moskowitz

Reading this is your first step into a delicious sojourn into Indian cuisine. First, get the Flying Horse Beer. Sweet lager that helps soothe the taste buds from the spices. Second, AMAZING vegan and vegetarian options. I love meat but your into the vegetable appetizer like a velociraptor in a petting zoo. Third, lamb vindaloo. Tasty, tender, succulent, spicy and supremely delightful. Can't wait for the next visit to try something else. Prices are great for the portion and service is unparalleled.

Rahul

Well really nice food. I visited the Saffron couple of time with my colleagues. Nice lil restaurant for Indian food in Greenville.

Laura Berry

Great lunch buffet for a variety of Indian food. I've never had something I didn't like in 14 years.

pranab varadkar

What a wonderful trip spoiled . Without wasting time let me come to the point . Our visit to saffron was unimaginable. The quality of the food even if it's a buffet and you charge 9.99 dollars is not worth at all . Take more money but use good spices. Blanned food , tasteless and waste of money and time .

Elizabeth Tyler

Great ambience and delicious food!

Jedster

This restaurant is consistently good. The food is always excellent and the service impeccable. I have been coming here for years and have never had a bad experience, nor have I ever heard of anyone ever complain about the place. Good food at a very reasonable price. Best in Greenville!!!

Mellissa West
