Honestly, I can't believe I waited as long as I did to try this place out - and that was only a few weeks since I heard about it! Went in for the first time yesterday to check out their steak wares - ABSOLUTELY blown away. Fantastic USDA prime cuts, house made almost everything (from brats to sides to homemade dinners), fresh seafood, the whole 9. I ended up with a 2.3 lb prime porterhouse and some brownie with chocolate/toffee topping; grilled it last night as I simply couldn't wait. Now, I consider myself to be a novice level steak connoisseur - I've eaten every cut, every way numerous times. I kid you not...this is the best steak I've ever had. When grilled properly, did not even need a knife to cut through it on the plate. Wife agreed (we split it) and that steak single handedly put me back in her good graces last night. Me tested, her approved. The brownie was also unbelievable. Seriously, give this place a try. Sure, you'll pay a little more here than you would at the supermarket, but this place's meats are simply way above and beyond what I've seen anywhere around here. You get what you pay for - in this case I imagine that I'll be back within a week or two to make another purchase. As soon as I can afford it, but I'm thinking of selling a kidney so that I can backflip into another slab of that prime. Bonus - Brewery 85 was there (and will be for the next few Sundays) giving out free samples of beer. If there's something better than steak like described above and craft beer from Brewery 85 under the same roof...I've yet to encounter it in Greenville. Stop wasting time and get in there. Fantastic food, selection and great friendly service. They've got my business.

My only complaint is that too many other people know about how awesome this place is and sometimes they are out of the sides I like. It is so so worth paying a little extra to get fresh cuts here.

If you want a quality cut of steak to grill out at home, then this is definitely the place for you! They are more expensive than Bilo Lowes Public's etc but you have to pay for quality! The butchers that work here are very knowledgeable …

Not cheap, but you are getting very high quality meat for your money. They also have some very good premade foods, as well as an assortment of other things including Happy Cow milk. I always get my meat here now for Holidays or other family events.

I've never been one to buy supermarket meat and when I moved to South Carolina last year, I really missed having a great butcher to go to until I found the New York Butcher Shoppe. I won't go anywhere else. I haven't tried their pre-made dishes or sides but their meat packages are the best bar none. There's great variety (and you can find these on their website) including beef, pork, and chicken in assorted cuts. I've bought several of their packages (one comes with steak seasoning that I love) and often go off-label to fill voids in my freezer. Some tips: there's a points program here that runs off your telephone number. If you plan on shopping here regularly, join this and their mailing list. Saves you money and you'll get an e-mail for their frequent chicken, pork tenderloin, ground beef sale (which is usually the day I'll call in an order because we go through a lot of chicken in my house). The NYBS is pleased to package to order. We're a two-person household now so I tend to get things in 1 lb. packages. The chicken is lean, and the most tender I've found. The filet mignon is delicious and melts in your mouth. I order an entire tenderloin which I have "freezer packaged" (air tight plastic bags that defrost quickly and beautifully in cold water in usually an hour or less). This is a bit expensive, but it's far cheaper than getting this cut of meat out. Their bone-in pork is also excellent, thick cut and again a little pricey but these are restaurant-quality, impressively tender and juicy chops. Perfect for stuffing. I can't say enough good about NYBS and am grateful for call-ahead. The guys are always nice on the phone and our orders have always been spot-on. A gem.
