Very decorative beautiful place to have ceremonies
Lunch on the deck is a treat.
I love this place! What can you ask from a resturant? I look for - food quality, ambiance, customer service and the quantity! This The food is top quality. The portions are large! The
We had a nice evening, great views, excellent food. 6 of us shared a plate of awesome nachos! They were perfect, 2 person band played favorites and had us singing along. Seagulls were a bit of a pain.
Awesome clean place, great views, nice service!
The Rueben Sandwich is amazing!!!
A lovely venue for those participating in the OCS graduation.
Great view, Great food and great service. If you can sit outside on the deck it's well worth it with great views of the Newport Bridge
Rainy day. Ordered fish and chips and was pleasantly surprised. The batter was perfect and the fries were tasty. The waitress was friendly too.
Great service and the food was good too.
Absolutely beautiful... we were attending a wedding and reception here. Unfortunately the salmon was dry and overcooked. Everything else was absolutely beautiful, especially with the Christmas decorations!
Nice view and good food cheap
Always a great place to visit and relive a few memories. Good food and convenient for on base dining.
Cozy place with good service..
Excellent service from our waitress. The restaurant manager is a surly, rude, shrew who remonstrated with one person at our table over a defective lobster. It took 45 min to get drinks by queuing at the bar where there was only one barman to handle customers and a second to handle waitress orders.
There for a wedding, food and location where great. Service was ok, could have been more attentitive.
Good lunch
Great lobster roll and clam chowder. Right on the water with an amazing view.
Good food, great service.
Lovely place but the food was under cook.
The O'club is not a bad place if you want a a good view of the bay and pell bridge. The food however is something else completely. I love taking my family out to eat and I always side with the establishment because i know how difficult it is to operate a successful restaurant. I took the family there for mothers day brunch this past Sunday and i was so dissatisfied that im still considering talking to management not to get a refund because people worked for that but to tell them that they need some serious overhaul in the kitchen. So to start there were very limited veggie and starch options. Green beans which were still raw not al dente was the only veggie option. Mashed potatoes and bowtie pasta were the only two starches which were ok. A prime rib table that noone seemed to care for. One seafood option which was salmon. The salmon was dry as hell on the outside and raw on the inside. It was completely inedible. The salad, cheese and bread table was ok but very basic. The dessert table was the only thing me and my wife enjoyed. The desserts probably cane frozen from a company. Definitely not worth 30 dollars and 17 for kids.
Not bad
The staff was very friendly and the food was good. The menu was limited to a winter menu which I was told will change to the summer menu early May.
This review is for wedding services only. While the view of the Newport Bridge from the Officers’ Club and location of the venue are second-to-none in the area, the customer service and professionalism of the staff of the Officers’ Club and MWR was, quite frankly, abysmal. I did not feel like our once-in-a-lifetime event mattered to them beyond the money they made off our wedding. I was not impressed with the level of attentiveness (or, in this case, inattentiveness) to detail or our event in general, but the guests all had a good time and enjoyed the food. Pros: - We were satisfied with the food and level of service we received from the waitstaff at both our rehearsal dinner (held on-site) and the reception. Keith, the head waiter, was courteous, on top of things, and friendly, which we really appreciated. We also had many complicated food allergies and restrictions that the Officers’ Club seamlessly accommodated. - The ceremony and reception ran smoothly, but only because our personal day-of coordinator (a friend of ours) basically had to take over running the event and I had created a detailed day-of timeline on my own that all of our external vendors relied upon. Cons: - Our point of contact changed 3 times over the 15 months of planning our wedding with the venue, and every single one of them were disorganized and slow to respond to our e-mails or phone calls. The sales manager who we initially dealt with was downright rude and unfriendly (and that’s putting it nicely). She also led us to believe that we would get to try every type of food they offered at their once-a-year tasting, as they would not let us try the food before signing the contract; we were disappointed that only a small subset of all entree, appetizer, and dessert choices were available at the tasting. There were also multiple miscommunications with the venue that day. - 2 days before the wedding, the venue coordinator called to say that not only would she not be at our rehearsal dinner or wedding due to a family emergency, but 3 of our foreign guests had been denied (one of whom had just flown into Newport from Scotland that morning) after telling us the week prior that all foreign guests had been approved by base security. This caused major frustration and consternation for my husband, who was beside himself that his dear friend could not attend our wedding, after spending time and money to travel thousands of miles to be there for our big day. - No one greeted us on the day of our rehearsal, so we had to run the rehearsal ourselves and figure out many solutions for our questions on our own. - The venue’s day-of coordinator left me with the impression that she hadn’t done many events at the Officers’ Club previously and was not very attentive. She didn’t know how to turn on the AC in my bridal room, she didn’t deliver the water and fruit and cheese plate to our bridal room until we’d already asked multiple times, and we had to approach her during the reception to ask that she make the reception room cooler, as guests were complaining to us about the temperature in the room.
Part of the war College absolutely beautiful food good very reasonable people very very friendly all military
Great place for a wedding
Awesome view. Be sure to go when it's nice out. Food wasnt bad either, but having a drink on the deck looking out at the water is fun!
Awesome live music Friday night
Great food and drinks. Military only! :)
I just love watching the sunsets from its pavilion, nursing a drink while the live band plays in the back ground. Their claim chowder is one of the best in town.
Excellent food, great atmosphere
The view from the outside bar is superb. The service is always top notch and if you eat, the food is great too.
Beautiful place! Amazing food and views!
Very good! Too bad the bar was not open.
I recommed everyody add this plase to the list of "must visit"
Of course it's great! Great staff!
Very Good Food and Service! Huge portions!
Great food, prices and a view to boot. The place was top notch and the staff was friendly. There were a lot of people here but we still got right in.
One of the last remaining active O'clubs. Lunch lobster roll was fantastic.
Good food, reasonably priced drinks, and killer view!
Food is fabulous. Great friendly staff. View of the waterfront.
Servers lost track of one order from our table, but the food and atmosphere were great!
Clam chowder is the best! All dishes are well-prepared, and servings are large. Cod is great in fish 'n chips, chicken fingers are well-cooked. Good supply of beer. Great place to eat!
Clam Chowder is the best!
The food is quality (especially the salad bar), the view is unbeatable in Newport, the prices are good, and the service is adequate.
The food was fine but the service was awful. Our waitress, Haley, was extremely rude. She gave me attitude because I️ wanted a different salad dressing on my salad. Because of how rude she was, we will not be returning.
Great facility recently renovated.Great view of the Newport Bridge and Narragansett Bay. Located on Naval Base Newport so not open to general public
The food was good and the service was fast. Typical pub food but very tasty. Overall, a pleasant place for lunch if you don't want too leave base.
Great deck open to ocenfront
Good drink prices, okay food & a great view!
Not recommended for a quick meal, took over 15 minutes for the waitress to come over to take the orders and additional 30+ minutes for the food to arrive.
We have been here before and enjoyed it. Going for the fourth of July was not good. Over a two hour wait. Staf was not pleasant, to top it off we couldn't see the fireworks because all the umbrellas were still up.
Lots of food for a reasonable price.
Great quick easy food, excellent staff.
First time I have been even though I have heard about it for years. The place itself is more functional than fancy. The menu is small, but the burgers are very good and the people were friendly. I want to go back in the summer when they have music.
Slow but convenient when on base
Deck is beautiful in the summer. Food is OK, service is usually slow, prices are decent
Good, inexpensive food. Service, however, is horrid.
Great view of the surrounding bay. The food is great and the bar is extensive. Very cozy place for lunch or dinner.
Great location. Delicious food. Attentive server, despite the business. (Haley H)
Great deal on the lobster meal but comes unseasoned.
Great location. Friendly staff and customers. Food is ok with a few exceptions being very good like the fish n chips. You need a military ID to enter the base. Thank u to veterans and active military personnel.
Good food (but not excellent) and servers
Great food and service. The lobster rolls are excellent and the specials are a must. In the summer the inside is sometimes fully booked with wedding receptions or other functions. The view is the best view in Newport of the Pell and the North side of the Island. Come for the food and the panoramic breathtaking historic views. The club itself is one of the nice O clubs I've been to in 30 years. BZ
Didn't eat but food looked great at reasonable prices.
Good food slow service
Great food and drinks, besides if its summer you have a beautiful see. The fries are one of the best I have tried.
Great people and waiters
It's ok, standard club food, nothing fancy.
Sandwiches are amazing. And huge. Can't beat the amazing view right off the water in Newport.
Good beers, views, and food
Excellent Mother's Day brunch!
Best View in Neeport and good food
What a great event! Held an Easter buffet that was unlike any other. Everything tasted amazing!
Great food and good drink selections. Stuffed sole is great. Fish dishes are a very good choice. Don't get the calamari if you love calamari.
Awesome prices, don't care for the new cafeteria style. Great atmosphere, veiw can't be best!
Great food! Attentive staff, very elegant venue
Good food, good prices
Very well maintained. Nice place considering it's government owned and operated.
Wedding. They did a fantastic job. The manager, the staff were just outstanding.
Great venue for a celebration, great views!
We love going here. This visit was lunch with my Dad. The food is always good. The view is spectacular.
Wedding venue lovely outdoor and indoor
Really hard to beat for large functions onboard NAVSTA. Beautiful setting, well managed, and affordable.
Large portions and nice view of Bay and bridge.
Great food, good prices.
They have redone the bar area since the last time here. It is beautiful
Great view. Extremely busy, not speedy when getting a drink at the bar.
Great food. Friendly and professional staff. Very nice atmosphere. Reasonable prices.
Great place
Good Food at reasonable prices. Note: You must have base access to dine. Even better in the summer. Deck overs looks the Newport Bridge.
I'll let you know when I find a place with a more amazing view than the deck of the Officer's Club. The inside is also very classy. The food is usually on point. Will gladly return.
If you haven't been there you need to go. Great bar food with seafood and meal options. Also a number of beverages that couldn't be partaken during a working lunch. Did was really good.
Excellent food more than reasonable price
Food was cooked to completion very happy
My absolute favorite place to eat in the Newport area if you're able to get on base. Great beers on tap and a lobster night that can't be beat. They have a patio open in the summer that's literally right on the water with live music. A+.
Great Atmosphere but the service and prices were a little high for an Officers Club
Great views. They work hard to handle big crowds in the summer. Hours are pretty good. Informal clothing is welcome. Prices are not bad.
Great service, food and view. Had a great time!!
The only good O club left on the east coast
Aside from having one of the best views in Newport, this place is always consistent and solid!
Went here for a wedding and the food was amazing
Nice outside deck, professional kind, helpful staff.
Good food, good service, incredible view of bay and very casual atmosphere.
Best lobster rolls I have ever had
Scheduled event and not sure of the tradition or normal fare. Give it a try and see if this exceeds your expectation. Most O-Clubs are history; keep this one alive!
Large food portions, decent prices, good customer service. Very windy when sitting outside sometimes but pretty view
The deck was a little breezy but hey that's Newport Bay in the evenings at this s time of year. Busy opening night for the Deck.
Had been there before and had a great experience but tonite was just the opposite. Crab cakes were good as usual but my wife had the lobster that was not good. I had the stuffed sole, bad choice. In the future I will return but will keep the choices simple.
Great view of the Bay & Bridge!
Good service and really nice bar but ran out of special just into happy hour... maybe an advance order system would help.
Great place to eat for veterans and there family members
Nice place, chill and low key. Food selections leave a little to be desired; I wasn’t thrilled with the southwest salad. But a good place to get enough food to fill you up, and friendly service.
Beautiful location, especially at night with the view of the bridge. Lobster Mac and Cheese was delicious!!
I went to a wedding here. It was pretty. The landscaping needs a little work. Personally I would have been embarrassed to have MY wedding pictures taken in front of the bridge with a broken wall and patches of dirt.
Lousy service with bad attitude employees, outside bar was disgusting with dirty dishes piled up.severy overpriced tiniest glass of wine..band was awful too
Fantastic view of the Newport Bridge while enjoying great food and drinks
Couldn't ask for a better view of the Bay... Friendly staff, good service and good food.
