We have been looking for a place that serves rice bowls since we moved here 3 years ago (we assumed you were a sandwich place). What a pleasant surprise we were tonight to actually look at your menu and see you have rice bowls!! And they are delicious! We will definitely be back and look forward to trying your other menu items. Food was excellent. Staff was friendly. Prices are comparable to area. Highly recommend.

Flat Waves is phenomenal. Whether it is a quick lunch or dinner for yourself or dinner for the whole family. The atmosphere is just plaid "cool" and the food is delicious and healthy. In addition - they have become my go to caterer for my work events. My clients love it and rave about the food. They make me look very good! The staff is friendly and helpful and the prices are just right. I strongly encourage you to try them out for your next catered event

Although it was good, my food order was incorrect . I asked for no pineapples and a whole wheat wrap. I got pineapples and a spinach wrap. After calling them and telling them the order was incorrect, they simple said sorry. I paid 36 $ with a 5 dollar tip for just a wrap , quesadilla , and two Gatorades. I also stood there for 7 minutes before I was even acknowledged. Food was good but it wasn’t what I ordered and I over paid for something that I didn’t order with no refund.

Visiting in Newport and thought I’d drop in for an early dinner and was not disappointed. Their shoyu chicken plate is absolutely delicious and very filling. The chicken is on the sweeter side, so the macaroni salad helped balance it out. They also offer shaved ice, which was so good we came a second time just for it. For an additional fifty cents you can add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to your shaved ice and it’s so creamy; I recommend it.

Flat waves is an amazing local joint with unique and delicious tacos with options for vegetarian or omnivore. My fav is the shorteib taco or the shoyu chicken

Great food, very nice staff and great atmosphere. You’ll think you’re at a place in a tropical beach town. The food has a sweetness to it....at least the tacos we had, which I loved. This place if definitely worth a try if you’ve never been there. We will be coming back!

Ordered take out with co-workers, this time I ordered the Berry Bowl and my co-worker ordered pulled pork taco and mashusi. The food arrived before wait time which pleased everyone. All tasted excellent.

The food here is really good. They offer Hawaiian style foods and have a good selection of drinks you don't see at most other places. The portions or quite large. There isn't a whole lot of seating but there is outdoor seating available as well. You can also order your food to go.

Food was OK but the staff was very nice. The chicken in the grilled chicken taco was cut so large that it just fell apart. I LOVE tacos of all sorts and tried 5 different ones. Sadly, they are all meh.

Flat Waves helped me pull off the best surprise 30th birthday for my wife! I catered an event for 39 of her closest friends and had a whole taco bar spread prepared and set out buffet style for all to enjoy. People were asking me throughout the event where I got the food from because it was so fresh and different from all the chain tex-mex'ish restaurants. Plus, the pricing was competitive. Would recommend them for your next catered event as something unique, fresh, and tasty.

Found this Delightful Restaurant 2 years ago when I moved from Missouri. They have Flavored Ice (a little luxury from youth) & Gluten Free Options. Snack & Dinner Menus Very Accomidating Price. I enjoy there food immensely. I usually take out, have a few booths to sit down. The Decor is Great Surf Boards, Turtle Tank, Brilliant Colors. Many Nice Pictures of Previous Customers. I Love Going there when I can.

The restaurant catered my event, a Christmas Party at the Naval War College. All the international crowd loved the food. Servers very friendly and professional. Interesting Christmas menu. Food was more than enough (everyone brought food home) and delicious.

Food is usually great here, but I had the spicy tuna poke today, and the flavor was great, but there’s some black stuff they put on the tuna (maybe seaweed?) that is totally inedible. I almost broke my tooth on it because it was so hard. So basically get anything but the poke!

Cool place to get a drink and decent HH deals considering it's the city and the financial district. The decor really hits the fun house theme, and the bartenders were really nice. If you're coming for sports, there's 4 TV's, but you might be hard pressed to get a good view since it gets pretty packed quickly. We were able to find a seat at the bar, but we came pretty early (around 430).

The shrimp taco was good and refreshing (definitely a teaser). The acai bowl was good as well, just a little too much coconut shavings which is minor. Monday was get a taco and acai bowl for 12 bucks. Everyday is something different, I would go back.

This is such a great, friendly and fun place for either a quite bite, takeout, or a sit-down meal! Everyone who works here is so friendly and accommodating. The whole menu is great - hats off to the chef! The tacos are delicious and I could eat them everyday, along with the acai bowls!

A fantastic local spot, especially on the way to the beach or getting that craving going home from the beach. A unique and flavorful twist on a traditional taco. Friend had a rice bowl which looked good, albeit a bit basic/plain. Mac salad was righteous! Always a good sign because that’s a staple for me. Prices are reasonable for the area. I’ll definitely be back to try more on the menu! Also super cool that they set up a tent at 2nd Beach.

You have to go and try the food! My favorite is the Shoyu Chicken Plate but you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The Nutella Acai Bowl or Shaved Ice is the perfect after meal treat. Will, the owner, is super nice as are all of the employees. I definitely recommend you try the food. You won't be disappointed!

We ordered catering (tacos with the works) for my daughter’s graduation party. The food was INCREDIBLE and a huge hit. We especially loved the shrimp, pork, and black beans! Dana was super helpful and setup was quick and easy for us. 10/10 would recommend!

Hands down, the best açaí bowl I’ve had in Rhode Island! I’m in Newport from San Diego and craving my favorite way to start every day. Found Flat Waves Food Shack and their protein açaí bowl is on point! Can’t wait to try all the other bowls before heading back to California.
