Zachary's did an amazing job with the food at our wedding. Our guests loved it, there was plenty to go around, and we are still reflecting on how wonderful it tasted. My one piece of advice for working with Zachary's is to make sure you have a wedding coordinator designated to help make sure the details are correct. When we first met with Zachary's, we were assured that set-up for the reception would be taken care of. We provided our own flowers and we were told Zachary's staff would set up our tables, which they did. We left other details up to them, as the coordinator, Elizabeth, had told us we could, and they fell short with the execution. Without getting into too many details, make sure you have the proper line-up of people to help you with your event. Zachary's makes incredible food and your guests will be talking about it forever, but bringing the food is where they should draw the line in my opinion.

I LOVE this place! I have dietary issues and can eat just abt everything they make cause it's all made from scratch! The owner/chef is personable and wants to hear how much people are enjoying their food. And, omg, people are enjoying the food! If I could afford brisket and sweet maple mashed potatoes for dinner everyday, I would. Treat yourself- let them cook dinner.

I had brisket with Cole slaw and corn bread. Also had the chicken breast with a wing. The chicken was incredibly dry. Brisket was good and so was the Cole slaw. Corn bread too was dry and could have been a little sweeter.

Zachary's is probably the best BBQ place in philly, not only for food but for overall service. My wife and I went here today and ordered pulled pork and jerk chicken and sides. Not only was the food fantastic... The super hot sauce was mind blowing.. The ladies managing the counter were exceptional too. We were explained the menu in detail.. And patiently.. Which I appreciated. Our chicken took some time to prepare.. They make all food from scratch.. Given that we had to wait a while, the ladies went ahead and offered us two desserts on the house. They were scratch made and were awesome as well. We particularly liked the maple bourbon pie..

By far the best BBQ in the Philadelphia area if not the WORLD! It is like what you might have had in Texas but the meat is tender and moist (versus dry and tough). Chef Taylor has figured out how to make the best ribs, brisket and sausage AND some side dishes that are out of this world. Specifically - the beans, and mac n cheese are super. Chef Taylor has also developed several BBQ sauces that are excellent. The Hot IS hot. Highly recommend! Once you go you will, like us, go back time and time again.

Food is really good. Service is just painfully slow. We were there a few days ago and there was no one in the place and no takeout orders going out. It still took 15 minutes for a pulled pork platter with two sides the counter person simply took from the steam table.

Been here multiple times. Like your mama makes it, if she's from the south and has some soul in her blood! Among the options...BBQ Chicken, Pork, Sausage and Brisket... awesome mac 'n cheese, greens, and I love the White Chicken Chili(smokey, spicy amazing). Great desserts, but you have to catch 'em at the right time....what's available that day is what you get. Acoording to the news article on the wall, the Chef is classically trained, used to do huge events for hundreds, decided it wasnt for him and opened his own plce cooking the food he grew up eating... we all get to benefit from his decision!

Went in for takeout today at 1 and there was no line. I was greeted with a smile and kindly asked if I needed more time deciding as I was clearly drooling at the overhead menu on display, but I knew what I came for and only need to find it, swine! I ordered a pound of the Cafolina Pulled Pork and was offered to make it a platter, but after confusing me I decided on medium sides of beans and slaw. I stopped at Wawa for potato rolls, cracked pepper and sea salt potato chips, and potatoe salad on my way home because I'm glutinous /s. Jk, my mom is visiting from out of town and we had worked up an appetite exploring the Elmwood Zoo on the heels of my toddler and I just felt like having an amazing lunch okay? Don't judge me!/s). Now I've eaten my share of Carolina pulled pork and I must say, I truly truly enjoyed this. Hmm, that's not a good enough description, no, I am literally up in the middle of the night reviewing it because I want to share the beautiful mouth pleasure of this swine with the world, that's how good it was! Aside from the perplexing large amount of juice in the to-go container, the meat was so flavorful... Oh so good! Oh yeah! There were light pieces, perfectly pink pieces, those extraordinary dark pieces you only get from actual bbq, and even some of those juicy fatty pieces to let you know it's southern-swine-good! I made sandwiches and added just a smear of their hot because I can be saucy myself and but, they ain't lying! Hoowee, Their hot it will light you up! The slaw was perfect! Perhaps not Carolina style, but perfect, just enough dairy to cool me down and just enough acid and sweat to wish I had purchased a whole lot more. The beans, oh the beans! Honestly, I could hurt myself with these beans. No, not as good as the best I've ever made, but up there in the top 10 I've ever had. I would eat these 6x a day if I could, is there a bad time for great beans?!/s. Not too runny, not to thick, IMHO, just right amount of mustard, ketchup, and sweet. Perhaps a few more peppers for me, but I guess we're no in Texas. Combined with the other fixings and my wonderful shared company, this was my best lunch of the year, by far! I can hardly wait to pig out again, or should I say rib out? As the menu was perfectly sized, if played right, it could probably be conquered less than 6 trips. Challenge?! I'm reserving 5 stars for the nBBQ pit that's so good, it makes me wanna quit my life and sleep on the roof, no fault of there's, we're a long way from Texas. The reason they get 3 from me is because of the weird wait I had. As mentioned, I ordered at ~1:03, but I didn't get my food until 1:28! It wouldn't have been a big deal, good food is worth the wait, except for that when I placed my order I asked about how long it would take and I was told 5-7 minutes. I had a hungry and tired toddler in the car (with mom and grandma) and as anyone can imagine, 25m is way way to long for a 19moth old at lunch/nap time. What I don't understand is, what in the H would cause such s delay?! The beans and Pork were right there in the hot table and just needed to be portioned into containers, my order should have literally been taken care of and done before taking the next persons order! I honesty sat and watched in utter disbelief trying to figure out what the H was going on, like, was asking how long it would take such an injustice that I was being maliciously made to wait?! I still cannot figure it out! Anyway, totally going back, maybe even tomorrow. Yum!

The food was very good and the owner was very friendly, he stopped by to say hi while we were waiting for our food. In my honest opinion is was off putting that it was extremely hot inside the restaurant they needed to have the AC on a more reasonable temp, if it was on at all. Also for what we got it was a little expensive 3 meals, 3 sides, 3 drinks was $60.

Bring your FatWallet and empty belly because you're going to need it. The good and the bad. The food is most excellent. The brisket is tender with a good amount of bark stock sauce is good. Pulled pork was tender stock sauce was also good. The ribs we're falling off the bone and the stock sauce was delicious. The mac and cheese was some of the best I ever ate. The fried okra came with a side of horseradish sauce that was very surprisingly delicious. This restaurant has assortment of other sauces if I remember it at least 12 and one that stood out was Grand mom's spice and a jerk one that was out of this world. Make sure to take some sauces home with you or your regret it. I know I know and now the bad, make sure you bring a big fat wallet even though this restaurant is set in the lower end of Norristown you will be paying King of Prussia prices. I plan on going back and hope to get a little bit more for my money.

So far, I have only had the Brisket, Pulled Pork, Crab Cakes, Jerk Chicken, Fried Chicken, Chili and all the fixings including Collard Greens,Okra, Chopped Salad, Chicken & Rice Soup, Gumbo and deserts such as Apple Brown Betty, Sweet Potato Pie, and best of all Pecan Pie. I am thinking of moving closer to Zachary's and selling my kitchen as I really won't need it. I wish I could get breakfast there too.

I ordered the chicken wings.... For 7.95 for five.... I added the two sides for an extra 4.95... The wings were wing dings and they were tiny.... (It should state this on the menu)Nothing special about the taste....8.00 basically for five freaking small wings !!!!! Basic wings.... The chicken at crown and popeys has more flavor... The sides.... Collard greens and mixed vegetables... Very small portions but I have to admit very tasty.... The cornbread was different it had pieces of jalapeño in it... Which would of been good if it wasnt so dry... The cheesecake absolutely wonderful. ... If I was going to give them a 4 or 5 stars it would have been just for the cheesecake.... I will go back to re-order a few other things and take pictures to add to my foodie blog I hope my next and official experience will be better.... ****edit**** I forgot to add I also had the white chicken chili.... It was actually very good but I was already so disappointed in the wings from both size and flavor I didn't enjoy it like I could of....

We ate at Zachary's many times in their Norristown location. So, when it was time to get married, we already knew who would cater it. For our 60 guests, we had ribs, brisket, pulled chicken, mac-n-cheese, collard greens, and potato salad, with cornbread and slider rolls. Elizabeth arrived on time and set up everything we needed - while last-minute chaos swirled around her. People scraped every bit of the mac out of the pans! Now we can't wait for the Manayunk place to open - happy they are moving closer to us!

Friendly service and delicious food! My husband and I found this place about a month ago and we've been back once. I had the beef brisket the first visit with the cornbread, cole slaw and potato salad. Everything was great-I wasn't crazy about the cornbread, but my husband loved it..so I think that's just personal preference. The second time, I went for the pulled pork slider with one side, this fit my appetite much better (their portions are huge). Save room for dessert! They also have a good selection of seafood dishes which I will try as soon as I try the rest of the BBQ menu. The service was very accommodating, very friendly-which is a big plus to me. They go out of their way to make you to feel welcome and not just some random customer. I seriously cannot say anything bad about this place.

FOOD WAS AMAZING!!! I wasn't sure what to think when I saw it was basically in the gas station parking lot (I work 30 mins away and unfamiliar with Norristown) but I was pleasantly surprised! I got a pork BBQ sandwich platter with the maple yams and mac & cheese with cornbread. The meat/sauce had a kick and the cornbread had jalapeño (which I wish I knew ahead of time) but it was just the right amount of spice for me.

I recommend calling ahead for fried chicken, since it's made to order. -fried chicken : tender & juicy, just wish the breading had a bit more flavor -mac&cheese: favorite item I had! Great flavor, 4 different kinds of cheese, highly recommend -Cornbread: nice and moist, the jalepinos in it surprised me, and honestly Im not a spicy person, however they were very subtle. Maple sweet potato- not what I expected, wasn't bad but expected a bit more flavor Their homemade sauces are all fantastic and I highly recommend !!! Can't go wrong with any of them. This was my first time there, and I will be back (need to try the pecan pie and get that great Mac agAin!)

Food was OK, service was in serious need of improvement. Took more than a half hour for them to plate some cole slaw and stewed corn/okra/tomato and cut a portion of brisket. The sides were clearly pre-prepared, and the brisket was not something you could excuse because they were making it fresh... smoked meat don't work like that. They said 10-15 minutes when I ordered, and that put them on the edge of too slow for my purposes. When the food came 35 minutes later, they were at least nice enough to package it to go so I could pick at it in my car on my way back to work. Not a place to go for a time constrained lunch. They pre-sauced the brisket with an insipid sweet sauce. No obvious pink ring on the brisket either, which is not a good visual cue... which was followed through by little smoke flavor in the meat. Both sides were sweeter than I prefer... People rave about this place, but I just don't see why.

If you want barbeque and you're in the area, try Zachary's. The place can be busy (what would you expect), but service is fast and very friendly. Prices are very reasonable. While we were there (quiet time, mid-afternoon) the place was still busy. We had a chance to speak with the chef/owner. He has exceptional experience and really takes pride in his work! If you like BBQ this is your place. Go! You won't be disappointed.

False advertising. The website looks better than the place. The food ain't as good as advertised. My wife is nauseous. We ordered a Bragging Rights was supposed to be a family meal $45. It wasn't nothing worth BRAGGING about except the plastic bag found in the crumbling cornbread. Everything was measured out on a scale they have at the serving station behind the counter. Yes they make sure they give you exactly the amount they want. Watched as girl put food in my dish then took some out then put a little back. What real establishment does that right out front? When I opened the container most of the weight was chicken juice. I had to pour that off before eating. I was hungry for soul food. Searched Google but never will I come here again!!!!

Sight unseen made arrangements. Needed a venue for ~15 people who were at Valley Forge for a reunion. It stretched the seating capacity of the shop, but not the food supply. The surroundings were not terribly promising (strip mall, not upscale or trendy) but the store is clean and well appointed. The clientele were generally regulars. The staff (chef, servers) were diverse and very friendly, accomodating. The food was overall excellent. Menu is substantial but not overwhelming. Real hickory wood smoke. Ribs and fried chicken exceeded expectations, pulled pork and brisket excelled. Platter - 0.5 lbs, 'meat' - 1 lb. Sandwiches were very large. Sides overall exceeded expectations or excelled. Beans, collards, okra, slaw, all excellent. Conch and corn fritters were fine; corn bread is fine, good portions. Gumbo was very nice, creamy, mild, served with rice. Kids ate well. Desserts were generally very good - pecan pie in particular. Prices were sane. Brisket and ribs have both risen in price at market lately; that can't be helped.

Zachary's BBQ was perfect for my outdoor event. They were very easy to work with and helped make my event enjoyable for all guests. They have a wonderful selection of food for all diets, they even grilled on site. Wonderful staff, I can't thank them enough.

All I can say is that the name of this restaurant fits! Everything we ordered was delicious. I had the large fried shrimp, Mac and cheese and cabbage. Be sure to check this place out, it's worth it!!

The family enjoyed a fantastic treat from Zachary's last night -- Smoked Turkey - tender, juicy with a great smoked flavor. Tasty gravy. -- Buffalo Shrimp - This one really impressed me ...LARGE tender flavorful shrimp with a spicy sweet coating (maybe batter not sure). SO good! Spices came through without overpowering the shrimp flavor. The amount and quality is amazing. Don't know how they do it at the price to be honest. -- Grilled Jerk BBQ Salmon -- very good and original taste. The grilled flavor really came through sides & desserts were all also good -- potato salad, cole slaw, corn bread, mac and cheese. mixed veggies. Choc bread pudding with choc sauce YUM...definitely more food than we could finish. Next time going to try the Brisket which friends have recommended. WISH Zachary's were closer to us but we will stop there next time we are in the area for SURE! ( I must also mention that the staff is so nice and friendly.)

Seemed kind of disorganized. Waited 15 minutes for take-out ribs, early in day, with only 3 people before me. Out of 8 ribs ( there was supposed to be 9), 1 was 1/2 a little baby rib, and 2 were quite small, and thin. The meat was tender, but did not like the sauces. Not sure if I'll return.

Mt first time here. I loved their food. Big up to you Mr.Zachary.The staff was very professional. I advise anyone that loves food like I do come on down. I had the two piece chicken fried like my grandma's.Collard's, potato salad,cornbread to die for. Just mouth watering. I thought I was home back in grandma's kitchen. Thank you for a wonerful experience. I will be back and with my family.

I recently ordered catering for a party with about 30 people from Zachary's and everything was great! Ordering was quick and easy, the catering menu is available online and I got a response to my email inquiry within an hour. The food was delivered on time and was a huge hit with my guests. We ordered the chicken, pulled pork, beef brisket and mac and cheese - all of which were great! I can't recommend Zachary's enough, everyone I spoke to was helpful and knowledgeable about events and the food is amazing! Can't wait to visit their new location, this bbq can't be beat!

I went there based on being a BBQ connoisseur, so I had no insight into what I was getting myself into. I ordered the Certified Angus Beef Brisket Melt, BBQ Baked Beans, and the Four Cheese Baked Macaroni. Keith the owner of the restaurant came out and asked if it was my first time and when he found out it was and that I was from Texas, gave me a sampling of the brisket - I was mesmerized. Let me tell you up front, it's NOT smoked, but don't let that chase you away. It's tender, juicy, and melts in your mouth. He gave me a little of the Grandmothers Recipe sauce that it was to come with on the sandwich, that just added to the taste. The baked beans were incredible as well. Never have I ever had baked beans with pineapple. A tremendous addition of flavor. The mac-n-cheese, was delicious. It wasn't over powering with cheese, the macaroni wasn't mushy, it was just right. Keith wouldn't tell me the four cheeses used, but that doesn't matter, it was fabulous. After eating my meal, which comes with a biscuit, I sat back for a while and let Keith and Zachary, who had showed up, know that what I had just experienced was soul-ful. It was just that good. I HIGHLY recommend you pay Zachary's a visit. You will not be disappointed. I will advise that if you are there seeking BBQ, like I was, the food there is more on the soul side than BBQ, but again, you will NOT be disappointed!

Everything was excellent. Pulled pork was juicy and tender and the sauce was great. Baked beans with pineapple was awesome and some of the best Mac and cheese you will ever eat. Great customer service too, will definitely be back.

I had high hopes for this place after reading all the reviews, but unfortunately the food sucked. The service was friendly and attentive, but the food was pretty bad. The brisket was very dry and crumbled into dry pieces as it was sliced too thin. It had zero smoked flavor at all. The cornbread really sucked. It was way overcooked and dry. It was like eating a pile of actual cornmeal. One bite and the whole thing turned into dust. The bbq pulled chicken was actually pretty good and the Mac and Cheese was actually NOT that good. It was also dry and not melty/creamy. The potato salad actually almost made me gag and the baked beans had a very odd aftertaste. I will not be going back. For the price, the portions were very small in terms of the meat. Sorry, I wanted to like this place but the food sucked.

We had Zacharys cater our wedding reception and everything was perfect. Elizabeth was fantastic to work with and super detail oriented, so the day of everything ran smoothly. The food itself was so delicious! We had multiple people comment it was the best food they ever had at a wedding.
