I've enjoyed shopping at Russo's since my arrival in Pennsylvania in 2010. It is a small supermarket, with almost everything a kitchen needs to prepare good food the Italian way. They are well-known for their sandwiches; adjacent to the sandwich counter is a large olive bar (sold by weight). I especially enjoy their five or six varieties of fresh pasta, including squid ink. Pasta dough is cut to order by staff and arranged in bird's nest style in clear plastic containers. Cooking time is measured in seconds rather than in minutes. Imported Locatelli cheese for grating at home is available, as is a good variety of fresh sauces. Notable for Pennsylvania is beer from cold cases. Wine is not available for sale, unfortunately.

I'm an OTR trucker and made a delivery, was set for noon on 9/12 but they were kind enough to accept me on 9/11 @ 145pm, had to wait a bit which was fine with me, being they were taking me a day early, unloaded quite quickly, I then went inside and spent $44 on a piece of Chicken Parm with pasta, a small portion of Meat Lasagna, and big box of NY Cheesecake!!!! (Mmmmmmmm!!!!).....all for me and none for you all! :-P

My go to when feeling too lazy to cook dinner or if I'm just craving something Italian. They have a ton of prepared foods ranging from meatballs and sauce, to pizza, fresh made pasta, and even panini's grilled to order. Lots of hard to find sauces, cookies, desserts, or pastas can be found here. They also sell beer. My personal favorite dessert is their frozen fruit that has been hollowed out and filled with sorbet. It's a must try.

To make it here you must stay on state rt 222 then stay on 422 go east on it then take the exit called penn ave west reading stay on pen ave for about 6 lights and you wanna vere to the right onto bern you will see a golds gym a plaza and Russo building

The fresh Italian foods and hot deli sandwiches, soups to enjoy with an eating lounge. Fresh vegetables and fruits - cheeses - breads - everything imaginable for having a small gathering for after work with wines and luscious appetizers. Love this place for its fresh, hot To-go (and to stay) meals. But name tags and prices on the hot food, in back, would make my purchase easier. A tray would be helpful to carry meal from register to table if you have children with you. You wont be disappointed with the food, though!
