I have heard this restaurant changed hands several times. As a little boy I remember going by and seen a big plane outside which you could buy gas under. All of the plane is gone the food is still great The Waitresses are still nice and the atmosphere is just incredible. This is just a real Gem and no walkie Oregon. I hope that we never lose it and I hope it stands for many years to come for my children to see and my children's children to see. Places like this are what make or get so special. The plane was donated to a flying Museum and now it's going to be flying again at one point this was an awesome move by the owner thank you so much bomber
Best service and food! You've got to try it!
Food was hot, fresh, and served quickly. Employees were friendly and engaging. However, my two piece fish and chips, was overcooked. Fish and fries were too crunchy. They "didn't see" my friend's child's order, so her fish wasn't overcooked, but arrived when the adults were almost finished eating. There was an apology, but I feel they should have discounted her meal, if not given it free.
Great place
Jen was a great waitress happy and bubbly it's an older crowd but the food was good and reasonably priced
Pleasant family-owned diner type restaurant with a World War II theme. The bathrooms are called latrines. They name dishes after 1940s stars. I like the "Betty Grable" patty melt. It's not anything gourmet but it's a fun place to eat. You'll leave full and you'll like the people.
They have great holiday dinners. Miss the old bomber, but still a good restaurant. Great deserts.
Went for breakfast with family and had a good selection of reasonably priced comfort foods with attentive friendly service. Lots of interesting WW2 plane pictures on the walls. Coffee never got cold. We've been here before and enjoyed it. It has been too long. We'll be back.
Great food, great staff
Great service good food
Food was good and the staff was very friendly and helpful
I'm very very sorry to say that eating here is nothing more than a bad habit. Not certain what the issue is here but this place has gradually gone down hill over the last 20 years... Food occasionally rises to the past quality. I suspect they are having staffing challenges. Wait time from the placing of our order to serving last time was upwards of 40 minutes.
Great service always good food
Good breakfast with my brother wish the airplane was still in front though.
Service was great. I had a BLT and a big serving of tater tots. Lunch was excellent.
Great food and great portions!!! Service was nice and I am happy with overall experience of mine here. I will surely be coming back.
If you haven't been here it's definitely a great place to bring the whole family, there's a lot of history on their walls throughout the whole restaurant. And there good is great home style meals.
We had a family get together today. Happy to say service was great, food was yummy. Will for sure return. It was really nice not to do all the cooking and clean up. Had time to actually visit and enjoy the early holiday dinner. Added bonus was it actually saved us money taking everyone out to eat instead of buying all the food, cooking and cleaning up!
Really good place for all ages and good food
Good food, Excellent Service!
Very nice people, food is good. I ate the pilots burger with French fries. Burger was good, but I wish it had onions and condiments other than mayonnaise. I also had a really good salad and some parmesan cheese toast. I would go back
Fantastic service. We didn't have to wait for anything at all. And the food was superb. One of my favorites places to eat. A staple in the Milwaukie area.
Great family place. Friendly employees and good food.
Use to be a great place to have good home style dinner but cooks don't stay so food quality keeps changing.
Always delicious food and great service!
Good food
Excellent food!
Bombers.. Turned into bummer! Bland food with a kicker of NOT honoring those who serve/served! The prices were the same comparable to Dennys, Sharis! 1 timer
Good comfort food and friendly wait staff. They seem quite popular among older veterans and families.
So sorry the plane is gone. But the breakfast brought me back from the dead. Thank you.
I patronized here for the first time on a recommendation from a business in the area. I'm so glad I did! If you want a good ole down home meal, go to the Bomber! The staff is friendly and welcoming and the food is superb! The prices are quite reasonable as well. I will continue to come here for great meals!
It's a great place and I've been going there since I was a child and I'm 52 now.Love the Bomber especially the chicken fried steak.
Sizes of portions were great for the people around me. However sizing of corned beef hash comparatively to the plates I saw around me we're a little bit lacking. However needs to be added as well that the corned beef hash was probably the best I've had in 4 or 5 years
Best burger in town wonderful food nicest employees great stories and definitely even if you can't finish it try the bomber Burger it is to die for literally
This may have been a great restaurant in the past but is nothing special now. My wife and son had one of their burgers and said it was nothing special. I had the "house special" Rueban sandwich which had almost no sauerkruat, a tablespoon of dressing, and some good quality meat. Don't plan on returning.
We enjoyed our dinner looking forward to the return soon.
I think the best meal at the Bomber are their breakfast meals.
Friendly staff, was seated promptly. Was a 30min or more wait for food once ordered. Food is decent and prices are reasonable. Would have been better if we would have gotten there before or after morning rush. I would go again.
I was pleasantly surprised with The Bomber restaurant. I wasn't sure what to think at first because it certainly needs a little TLC (some off kilter tables and older furnishings) but aside from that the food was great, classic American diner fare. The staff was super friendly, I enjoyed the banter, and the general atmosphere was very inviting. I will be going back here again and suggesting it to friends and family.
Amazing Art & Memorabilia. Staff was friendly, energetic, and the food was amazing. Definitely will be going back.
I had lunch here today and it was great. Highly recommended.
Awesome food, impressive portion sizes and historically significant wall decor. Don't let thw building's age put you off; They make fresh, delicious food that leaves the kitchen piping hot and satisfies satisfied even the hungriest person in our group. I can't reccomend The Bomber Restaurant enough!
Nice place
Good and tasty home style cooking. A really friendly staff too.
Great place to go for some comfort food! Hearty portions of home style cooking and an awesome warfront museum and victory garden. Update**, had another meal here and the food is even better. Great wait staff, fast service and a neat decor. I really like this place.
Awesome breakfast.. service with a smile as always...
Our family have been customers for 5 generations. Comfort food that tastes like home cooking.
Very nice people
Great food and in innovative combinations. Wonderful people there with best service.
Nice small diner. We went in and had burgers I had the clam chowder she got sour cream and onion fries. Good pricing and a million times better than any fast food chain.
Our kids were hangry (anger caused by hunger). An off duty employee recognized this and discreetly asked our server to bring us some appetizers while we waited for our food. She brought out little serving cups of Fruit Loops and it worked like a charm. I can't express how kind and thoughtful that was for two parents who struggle going out to eat when life happens. By the way, the Bomber Burger was excellent.
This place is the classic diner experience. Basic American breakfast/ lunch fare. Hamburger is better than most places. Very affordable all around. Usually really fast service unless slammed. I miss the plane from my youth, but it doesn't affect the dining experience that much. There are some nice historical photos all around and a cool mural in the back area.
I love this place! It's very homey and the staff makes an effort to get to know you. The vegan/vegetarian options are very minimal, but I can still find stuff to eat.
#good food #interesting history and pictures
Nice restaurant nice atmosphere friendly waitresses pictures on the walls of military aircraft including the original bomber that was once on display there a must-see
The Bomber can only be described as that perfect diner you always see in movies and TV that you want a burger from. Amazing food, beautiful atmosphere, and marvelous waiting staff all add up the perfect dining experience.
Wonderful service and nice walk through memory lane. The food was great as well!
It had a good quesadilla a, but it didn’t have enough cheese inside it and more on top. I recommend you come here. They have a wonderful mural of a airplane, lots of pictures. They used to have a airplane on top, but it got taken down. I again highly recommend this place.
Awesome place to go and eat great food and get a history lesson on the B-17D .
Awesome place to eat and we had fantastic service
Quality service, and good prices. The biscuits and gravy are simple, yet very satisfying.
Great coffee and good prices!!
Food was ok, service was ok, the parking lot crushed my car though
Food was delicious as usual. Customer service was phenomenal. I love this restaurant!
My dinner was very good except for the green beans. They did not tell me there were other ingredients in the beans when I ordered so I wasn't happy when the green beans were served to me. They should tell you when you order that there is other food in the green beans.
Sandwich was great but fries tasted frozen. Very interesting history!
I love this place so friendly and good food
Always an excellent choice when you want a good home cooked meal! It takes a little longer to get your meal, but we'll worth the wait. A great atmosphere with wonderful local history.
Great food and good serving size. Fin restaurant and restrooms. Nice waiting room to be seated with a penny squishing machine so that you can take home a souvenir! Historical and unique decorations throughout the restaurant. Fast and friendly customer service. We will certainly be returning! :-)
Great restaurant wonderful people thanks for all the years of service to the community! Punky is the best
Good food freindly. People's
Great staff great food
Excellent and efficient servers here. There customer service skills are impeccable and hard to find now a days!!
I accidently found this place a few years ago. This place is amazing! The food, service, atmosphere and employees. Definitely stop and eat here! Love love love it! Don't change a thing m)
This is my grand nephew's favorite breakfast place. He can be a picky eater, but he has three different favorite meals here! I enjoy the food too, and especially appreciate the dedicated people who work here.
Went there with my kids. Ordered breakfast and large V8 and a side of bacon. Never received the V8 or side of bacon. Server delivered food but never came back to inquire if all was good or if I needed anything else. Cashier did not inquire on meal or service. I would not recommend as this is the second time in the last year that not getting what you ordered has happened to me. Sad to have lived in this area for 40 years and not interested in frequenting a local restaurant because I cannot get good service.
Average food. Decent prices. We love going to breakfast here!
Very tasty food! Excellent customer service!! Can't wait to come back.
Food here is dam good. The service and atmosphere here is ok though. Felt dull and cramped inside
Love the atmosphere, the history of this place and the food was excellent!!!
My kid always begs to go here for the Mickey mouse pancake. Great food, great prices, and your coffee cup will never be empty.
Not to my liking
Very comfortable environment...Everyone was Friendly and Polite...food was worth the visit.. I will be back.
Excellent food, friendly staff, history on the walls. Great spot!
Lots of memories of the bomber over the years
Still got it! Great food and prices. Friendly staff. Miss the plane.
Love this place.
Very good food and friendly service.
Good homestyle cooking. friendly staff
Old time comfort food amazingly great and the story is touching! Only thing was the stroganoff (?) noodle get Gummy quickly and the serving was way to large. I have never said that before. Fried chicken, ham, liver, sandwiches (a bit to LG. as well) too hard to hold without them falling apart. You will have the best deep fried scallops and a great little coleslaw!!!
Messed up mine and other persons order I was with. Food was just ok.
Great food, great waiting staff, customers, and nostalgia. It's nice to have nice, original restaurants still existing in Portland.
They have great food, well water, curteous assistance, and the best shakes ever!
Food was good but the restaurant was a little run down.
Great food and friendly staff!
Great food and large portions.
Good home cooking
I have never been here before lol. Had a pretty sick plane. Smells like old people. Tip your servers.
One of our fave places. Great history, US & the founders story. Food full of memories. Friendly service that will spend time talking and being nice. Large serving like mom would make to put meat on your bones. If you have family or friends that are part of "the greatest generation" and honored the USA by serving in WWII, take them to this place (and pay for their meal!!!). It will flood there heart with memories. One evening we were treated to overhearing a vet telling stories at were educational and really enjoyable. When you try to find you need to look hard as they sit back a ways off the street. Also the B17 is not on the roof anymore. It is being rejuvenated at the Salem airport. Go eat now! - you will not be disappointed.
Great comfort breakfast food and the service is great!
Great breakfast until 1:45 PM. Doesn't look like much from the road, just drive in.
Good American food.
Great breakfast spot.
Great food for a great price. Hosts and servers are so friendly. Very family-friendly.
Great food .. friendly service with great care and attention! love the Bomber.
Has the best homecooking, especially breakfast. Home made granny pies, delicious, great atmosphere, airplane motif, the waitress is the best, hard worker, smart, very friendly. Just a 5-star place, all around.
Chicken fried steak over cooked and the worst I have ever had. Won't go back
I think of all the 5 or 6 times I've eaten here that we had a good experience once. Since that time everything I have eaten seemed very bland and generally lame. We ate here again with family because my husband offered it up as the gratuitous "down home cooking" place and they chose it since my one relative has a lot of food allergies and generally cannot eat at any place exotic. I don't mind eating at places like this for the sake of my relative, but I wish my husband would not offer really lame places like this, as our area has much better choices. The food is bland, has very little flavor, and the proportions for what you pay are a little on the small side. The one feature that this place had going for it, was that it had an actual bomber plane sitting out front, and recently it has been taken to another location to restore the plane to service status. It was interesting to learn of the history behind the bomber being a part of a restaurant, but now they don't even have that.
Varied menu with tasty food; interesting atmosphere.
They took their famous ribs off the menu, but still advertisement them on their website. Very disappointing
Great food.....
ok. Average. Not bad, good service. you
The potato skin appetizer was delicious start to our meal! My husband had the flying fortress and I had the wing leader. Both were outstanding and filling. And the portions are generous. Bonus of amazing customer service. The waiter Bo's service was above and beyond what you would expect. I highly recommend you go there!
Good food airforce atmosphere interesting names I had the co pilot special I will return they close up early 3 pm.
Support local family business - EAT HERE ! a very one of a kind restaurant , Great food , Great service and awesome decor!
Very nostalgic and so is the service.won't pay 2.50 for coffee again there.
Good service and tasty food. Aviation memorabilia and reminders of the area's past abound. Great place to get breakfast, lunch or dinner. The namesake bomber is in renovation at another location, but it also has a small military museum located nearby.
Great place! The manager Christian is the best!
Great breakfast at a great price. Locals favorite.
Huge burgers, great memorabilia, but The Bomber the plane is gone
The food was superb, the service was over the top. The only low thing I could find is the bathroom water barely ran but I did manage to wash my hands. Yes I do recommend this place and I plan to return in the near future.
French toast was great. Hostess filled water glass consistantly. Wait time was long but mostly due to mother's day. Bathroom could use a cleaning.
Food and history both served in abundance.
Food is always great, I was going there since 1982, God Bless Art and Bernardine Lacy, ai worked for the Bomber Gas station from 1979 to 1990 and they treated me as if I was there son, they were both wonderful people that I have had the opportunity to have ever known In my 61 years.
The bomber was gone, being restored by the b-17 alliance, but the food was great. We had the taco salad and a signature sandwich, the Lacey which was heaped with Smokey turkey. Try the chai tea, a big pot of comfort on a rainy day. The wait staff was very good as well.
One of the best family restaurants in town! I've been going here since I was 3 years old. Food is amazing, staff is friendly & patient. Worth the money.
Love this place! The staff are always warm and welcoming, the food is outstanding, and the portions are quite generous.
Awsome as always. They grow the strawberries and the strawberry lemonade is perfect for a hit day
Punky and the whole team at The Bomber really know how to wow and dazzle their guests. The food is great & comfortable and the service is equal. Definitely give it a try!
Great service, good food, and super prices on breakfast specials
Stopping at this restaurant was a happy accident. A friend and I were in the area at lunch time and found this restaurant on google maps. I wanted breakfast at lunch, as I often do. From the first sip of coffee to the last bite of toast it was breakfast perfection. I’m going to have to find more reasons to be near The Bomber Cafe in the future, as it was a delight. The artwork and story behind the place adds greatly to the experience. I highly recommend this restaurant.
Great food and great service.
Absolutely the worst restaurant meal I've ever had. Suggest strongly that no one wastes their money here. Chicken fried steak and potatoes were smothered in the saltiest gravy I've ever tasted, I couldn't taste the food... Just salty gravy.
Great food and plenty of it. Fun, friendly staff.
Fantastic service and the food was good also.
Art was my stepmother’s uncle. I used to come here when I was a kid in the 80’s. It was always warm and inviting and busy. Recently went back for ships and giggles, it’s completely different. It’s just a restaurant now, makes me sad it hasn’t remained the same.
Good food friendly service
My meal was good and the people were very sweet I enjoyed my experience
An old landmark in the Metro area, the bomber is no longer in the parking lot. Breakfast was quite good and prices were reasonable. Service was good. Coffee was good. Interesting place, with bomber memorabilia all over. Clearly a local hangout for local retired men - quite a bit of lively conversation abounds.
Old and limp and dried up food. But, the service is excellent - very friendly staff!
Excellent food and service!
Lovely staff. Friendly, family like atmosphere. On more then one occasion, they've been out of a gluten free item, but were able to substitute the item and comp it on my bill. Overall, I love the rich history and atmosphere and will always recommend their restraunt.
I loved the atmosphere! It was quite great in many ways. The food was exquisite and the staff was really inviting. My waitress Courtney was very kind and humorous. Throughout the day she kept up the same welcoming and enthusiastic role that a waitress should have. It is very evident that she loves her job here and puts the customer first above all. Again great place. Food was a little bit expensive, but the portion they provide is worth it. Highly recommend!
Good food, lot of history hanging on the walls
Very good food as always. Service was a little slow because they had a packed house Sunday morning. Otherwise it's good service and really good food.
Snowy day, but the staff was there and ready to serve! Food was yummy and service was fantastic!
Been going here since I was a little girl! I loved knowing Art Lacey and still enjoy stopping in to say Hello to Punky! Great food
Food was ok, the decorations were cool, but the B-17 is not in the parking lot. It is out for repairs, and I didn't hear a date when it will be back. I really only went to this place to see the plane.
Excellent food and courteous staff
Amazing staff. Not that long of a wait and food is amazing
Great atmosphere good service
My husband and I visit this place pretty regularly. I am a veteran so I feel at home around the wartime and military memorabilia. The waitstaff is attentive and accommodating, and the coffee is good! I also like the old fashioned military themed menu, it's all very nostalgic!
Very nice
We like to stop into the Bomber for breakfast... it is always delicious and priced well too.
Friendly people awesome food
Omelets were good and they didn't have a problem with french fries during breakfast hours for my picky eater but the biscuits and gravy are among the worst I've ever had. I guess living in the South for almost 50 years where biscuits and gravy are a critical breakfast staple spoiled me. I shudder to think of what probably passes for grits in Portland.
Food and service great large portion s
Usually when I eat out the food is not good and I pay for it later. Eating there after leaving the festival was like eating food that was home cooked. The food was very delicious. I am going back. I didn't know what I was missing. If you ever get the chance stop in and grab a bite.
