Nice big bar and the steak frites were great.
We've eaten at some of the world's top restaurants and this one is pretty up there. We were thoroughly impressed by their flavor combinations for all of our dishes. You can tell these people really know their food. Their pasta was handmade, their ingredients were local and extremely fresh. And what the hell? - It's pretty affordable for all of the above. Take some time to read about their chef and the business partner. Enjoyed everything. And will return for more!
Fine dining in Hood River. Beautiful ambiance and wonderful menu
Simplemente delicioso. Execelente servicio, buen diseño, toda una experiencia culinaria.
Thoughtful dishes and great service!
Great service, amazing food, and a great blood orange margarita!
high quality dinner
We had a $50 voucher for a restaurant in hood River, and were very disappointed. When we arrived, the atmosphere and ambiance was what we expected from a higher end restaurant. Waitress seated us and explained the menu which included the ravioli special ($26 entree) Wife and i both ordered the ravioli special with high expectations. Approximately 20 minutes later the waitress arrived with our ravioli in a soup bowl. Inside we're 5 raviolis in soup sytle broth.....don't get me wrong, they were good, but not $26 good....our meal included bread which got pulled away by our waitress at the end of our meal after finishing our entree of 5 raviolis. I was still hungry and expecting to fill up on cheap bread. When we got our bill, the waitress politely said "what a good deal huh?", to which i didnt respond. We felt rushed and won't be back and will discourage any of of hungry friends from going here. I should have taken a picture of how small the ravioli entree was.
we liked it
Super friendly staff and delicious food. I ordered the clams in white wine and mushroom pasta with fried oysters for lunch. I heard the dinner menu has a steak so I'll be back for that!
Best restaurant in town....nuff said
Food was good. The woodwork decor is interesting.
Locally grown produce, organic, sustainable focused finer dining.
But ovcx
Really good food. Nice atmosphere and attentive staff. Decent range of food choices and extensive wine menu.
Fantastic food and service
Lovely meal. We had dinner here recently which was better by far than our lunch experience a few years ago.
Amazing food, small location, great atmosphere
Husband and I had a $50 voucher to be used and decided to try this place. The food is amazing but sadly not worth $26 for a few small raviolis in a soup and that was it. Plus as we were finishing our meal we were still munching on the bread plate and the waitress took it away. This place is overpriced and not worth spending your money on.
When you want to go out for a meal in an environment that is quiet (a rarity in Hood River), friendly, and where almost everything is local fresh, go to Celilo. The specials are always special, and the servers know everything about them. Even stopping in at the bar for a drink and appetizers is a treat. It's our favorite spot for date night. Can't miss.
Food & service very good, you decide if the price justifies the quality. Ex:pork trio & one of them being store bought pork rind.
Outstanding food and staff, a lovely way to treat yourself to a great meal on the town.
Fabulous wine list, both by the bottle and glass. Tasty and light crackers served with butter before meal. Had the pasta w Mushrooms.... Delicious.
My husband and I went to Celilo’s tonight based on raving website reviews about their happy hour and particularly about their delicious clams. We ordered the clams and a few other appetizers but everything we ordered was disappointing. It was tasteless and bland. The clams were tiny and cold, and the broth was watery. Drinks were okay but they skimped on simple things like olives and the service was extremely slow. It was over 20 minutes from ordering our first drink to seeing our wait person again, although there was no one in there! We do not believe these reviews are legitimate but instead written by employees, friends and family, for our experience was so opposite of this!
Tasty food and good service.
Had dinner on a busy Saturday night, service was excellent, and the food was well prepared and made good use of local produce. Only issue was the pasta dish was vastly under-seasoned. Nothing a little table salt couldn't fix, but still worth mentioning. On the other hand the Salmon was really well done and the seasoning was perfect. Our waiter was knowledgeable and able to provide details about a local cheese that was featured on an appetizer. I will definitely be coming back next time I'm in Hood River.
Best in The Gorge! Excellent, ambiance, and service.
Great food and ambience!
A lovely. Restaurant with delicious food. The happy hour between 5 pm and 6 pm is a killer bargain. It's a chic crowd but families with well behaved children will fit in. Seating options are available. The front of the restaurant opens up and provides an excellent neighborhood feel with passersby greeting friends throughout the evening. More private seating exists as you move inward, past the bar full of singles? Our party was large enough to sample the entire happy hour menu - which we did. We tasted every single small plate. Dishes that stood out were the Steak Frite - delicious and perfectly medium rare. The fries were flavorful and tasty. The clams were delicious and the fried oysters were very flavorful. We enjoyed sopping up the clam broth with the delicious French bread served to our table. The hostess, wait staff and bus people were kind, friendly and helpful. We also found the 1/2 pound burger delicious as well. The restaurant makes their own humus. Not quite traditional but those who liked it really loved it. Their non-alcoholic drink - a variant of the Moscow mule Was creative and tasty. We love ginger beer. The desserts ranged from ok to excellent. The lava cake and Crewe Brûlée were delicious. Overall everyone at our table wanted to return and eat here again. I would say the meal was a delight and a success. Incidentally, bathrooms often display what the restaurant truly thinks of their patrons - their bathrooms are clean, pleasant and nicely designed. Pictures are forthcoming.
Fine dining and excellent bar. Always delicious food. Special occasion dinner date, groups or dine alone. Amazing service. I've only been there for dinner. It is a popular restaurant. Parking meters.
Just a fantastic restaurant in a great spot in Hood River. Versatile, with various seating options including outdoor dining. Food was spot on in every detail. Had the Halibut with a solid grilled layer and soft flaky fish underneath. I wish I could do that at Home! Dessert was to die for. Will always come here when in town.
Thoughtful, delicious cultural foods made with care, from locally sourced farms and ranches, that support agrodiversity.
Gosh, what a great restaurant. Starting with creative cocktails, delicious appetizers, extensive wine list, and focused menu. Clean, quiet, fantastic.
Our entire experience was top notch, from the excellent service, selections and food quality.
High quality and delicious food in a casual, upscale atmosphere. Much of the food is locally sourced with creative dishes. Excellent desserts and good coffee. The service is friendly and good.
We have eaten at Celilo a number of times and love the location, atmosphere, people and food. My older daughter is a very picky eater but has tried so many things there that she loves and wants to eat all the time now, including their clams and prawns, that she would have otherwise not tried. We love the way the wait staff engage with us, remember us and take the time to talk to us every time we are there. If you are in Hood River and in the mood for relaxing atmosphere and amazing food make a reservation at Celilo :)
We sat at the bar and had great service. Nice beer selection and wine by the glass. I had the dinner special seafood paella with an appetizer of local clams.
Really enjoyable meal. The food and wine were very good and the service was excellent.
Service and atmosphere were spot on. Happy hour steak frites the find of our day trip out to Hood River.
Late night this is the place you wanted to be. Food is wonderful.
My salmon was crispy on the outside and raw on the inside. Rest of our meal was nothing to write home about. I agree with the reviewers who feel the prices are high for what you get.
Food was awesome but I’m not sure what was up with our server. I’m pretty sure she had a few more then we did. Either way the lack of customer service out ranked a great meal
Awesome farm to table food, great ambience
Good food, but service trouble with party of 8.
Every single dish was melt in your mouth. I wanted to try everyone's dish. Top notch service too. I had the trout cakes and it was delicious .
The service was attentive but got several things wrong: meat dishes brought to those who had ordered vegetarian, and yogurt to someone avoiding dairy. I don't often expect to be comped but to not get an offer of anything was surprising. Food good enough, but at the price point you expect a bit more. It wasn't bad but I wouldn't go out of my way to go here. Decent mid tier dining option. Most will probably have a good night here and I think we got unlucky.
The service was horrible and we still gave the 20% tip. No bucket was given for our cold white wine even though it was very good. The salmon dish was cooked poorly I was led to believe they had a chef Not visible by the food presented to us. Would not come back!!!!
A charming, chic, upscale restaurant in the center of Hood River. Hood River is a small town near the Columbia Gorge. There are only a handful of restaurants, most of which are breweries/pubs. They're all very good but if you're looking for a nice dinner, perhaps a special occasion or even just a romantic date night, Celilo is the perfect choice. The cuisine is New American with a touch of Pacific NW. Most, if not all, of the ingredients they use are organic, local & seasonal. The food is interesting without being too avant garde. Everything I've had there was great -- the kabocha salad, kale & blue cheese salad, seafood risotto, trout cakes, the roasted chicken, and their seasonal pasta special. They also have a strong selection of wine. In terms of price, entrees range from $25-35. It's definitely a "nice" restaurant. Service is great, ambience is cozy & romantic. My only complaint was how disappointing the apple tart was -- apples were borderline raw and unseasoned. But they took it off the tab. Overall, I recommend the place.
Great service and food
Been here multiple times while passing through on business. The salmon Niçoise salad is amazing, and I also recommend the mussels and the pasta dishes. The sommelier and the very friendly staff are wonderful; they clearly seem to enjoy their work. Beautiful atmosphere overall, some great art, and I appreciate the large surface of the lovely bar. It's a place I'll keep returning to.
Amazing food, amazing staff, this is Fine Dining in Hood River or anywhere.
Never had a bad meal here and the service is wonderful!
The food that Celilo catered for our wedding was absolutely delicious!! We went to a tasting event at the restaurant a few months before the wedding, which was just plain fun! After the tasting I knew the food would be good but the food we got on the day of the wedding was beyond good, it was spectacular. The quinoa and roasted vegetables had flavor, the chicken was juicy, and the service was incredible. Heather, the catering manager, was extremely patient and responsive throughout the planning process. I am SO glad I chose Celilo.
Awesome, awesome, awesome...food, service and atmosphere were all fantastic
Great mussles, amazing duck confit.
Some of the best Italian I've ever had with a very well curated wine list. Small menu of local stuff. Loved everything we ordered.
A wonderful restaurant situated in Hood River specializing in fresh seafood and craft beers. The mussels were amazing. It has a pleasant atmosphere and attentive service.
Great food and atmosphere. Our favorite Hood River restaurant.
Great service and lunch menu, good drinks, lovely open air space.
Good food and really good service. Healthy prices, not bad just health. And well worth every penny.
This place it top notch!! The owners are great people and they run a wonderful high quality restaurant. I love the NY..... Enjoy....
Mind blown. The farrow served wirh the pan seared salmon is absolutely epic. Smoked shrimp and scallops and fresh strawberries and blueberries is just an incredible balance of every taste bud. The chef freaking nailed it.
Really good food and a nice bar.
Large size appetizers, good service. Creative and beautiful plating using herbs and veggies. Downsides: menu is pretty limited, not a lot of selection. Food seemed above average in oil or butter.
Good food, good service, good atmosphere
Great food and staff. Amazing happy hour.
The food was good, great staff but our wait time was more than normal.
The most fabulous meal I have ever had! Wait staff and especially the kitchen staff ( Tyler Gibson) did an excellent job.
Great locally sourced food, beautiful space and friendly staff! The bar area is lively and the dining room allows for a more intimate dinner. Love this place!
Food is good, service is slow especially at lunch time. Also if you read this Celilo, please bring back the shoe string fries.
Charming restaurant with great food and a cozy atmosphere. Good service.
Good food, good service, but prices can be a bit on the high side. Salads and starters can be small but entrees are good portions.
Great service.
Another outstanding meal tonight, with excellent service in a beautiful restaurant. A true gem of Hood River. Well done Ben, absolutely delicious, thank you.
Nice atmosphere.
Best high-end food in Hood River. They did a great job catering our wedding.
Nice atmosphere. Great food.
Best restaurant in Hood River. Great happy hour deals. Food always good. Service is terrific, friendly. Had Steak Frites. Steak selection varies. Was NY Strip on Friday. Yum.
Always stop here when traveling from the tri cities to Portland. Nice setting, friendly staff and high quality food.
Great food and Wednesday was buy one get one which makes it a great deal.
After shopping the afternoon in breezy Hood River, we went to Celilo’s (across from Columbia River Gorge Hotel) for refreshments. I just adored the Simmonet-Febre Brut Rose, Cremante de Bourgogne featured below and the cheese & fruit plate was good too.
Incredible fresh and local food.
Trendy, artsy food. Good quality. Good service.
Poorly conceived and executed version of a great classic dish of paella. Failed by far margin to meet how it was described on the menu. Tiny clams and very small portions of the other ingredients. Proportions of rice to meat items was way off. Need much more rice and larger cuts of everything. Chicken was about inch and half piece of white meat. Not confit as described on menu. Unable to find any chorizo. Three quarter inch width of calamari. Worst part was sand in one of the clams. More appetizers size than a $27 entree. Positive note: very good house wine and the halibut dish was good. Stick with pub food in Hood River until they get better Chefs in town.
We had a lovely dinner here — flavors were fresh & local. Our server made great recommendations. We’d recommend this place to anyone looking for an ice, intimate meal in Hood River.
Grrreeaaaat!
Delicious meal, fantastic server and staff. Had many small plates and wine. Mushroom pasta was unmemorable, but french fries were excellent, hummus was a perfect texture, and salad greens were well dressed and tender. Keep up the excellent work!
Best restaurant in Hood River.
Great as always.
My wife and I ate a Celilo for the third time on 7/14. We were staying at Skanania Lodge but had such great meals at Celilo on our vacation last Fall, that we decided to come here again. The food was outstanding. And the service by our very charming waiter was also wonderful. I had the roasted clams with fennel and the arugula and prosciutto salad, my wife just had the spinach salad and a fruit desert. What was perhaps the best part of the meal was my desert, a very unique steamed yogurt and lemon pudding. We are from Portland, where there is an abundance of great restaurants, but Celilo is as good as any of them.
It is very happy surprise for us. The soup of the day tasted very fresh. The special salad is very delicious and fresh! Love it!
The ingredients here are obviously of high quality and the preparation itself was very good. However, I'd say that nothing particularly wowed me as being a unique or interesting flavor. It felt as though they've identified good, "classic" dishes and stuck with them, rather than trying to push the boundaries. The staff was very professional and good and the atmosphere was very nice. I recommend this restaurant, but don't expect to try something you've never had before.
The food is amazing!
(Translated by Google) Exquisite place Excellent attention Pasta
The food is delicious and the service quality is superb! I also like the way the place is decorated: clean, modern and artistic.
Celilo Restaurant is our family's "go-to" spot in town for everything from Happy Hour to Date Night to special occasions. The food is always amazing and the staff is wonderful too. Highly recommend!
Came here on our Wedding night, and the were able to provide a nice enclosed area for us to have a romantic private dinner. Josh our waiter was helpful giving us great selections for wines and what meals to go with. Our main course were great with amazing flavors. The only (slight) complaint that I would have is that the appetizer didn't come out with our wine and since it was a cheese dish it would have been a great combo. Also, the cheese dish was a bit of a let down with how amazing everything else is presented... it was an oversize plate with a few small piece of cheese on it.
Very good ingredients. I love that they don't over embellish already good ingredients thereby masking and cancelling what started out good. We had the Garlic and Peppered Prawn Salad and the Smoked Trout Salad both quite delicious.
Amazing meal. Really good service. Ordered featured tuna and pork rib entrees. Fresh and wonderful flavors.
Very good food very good service. Nice romantic atmosphere
Excellent service, excellent food! This is truly a gem. Great atmosphere. I was on a weekend getaway with my daughter and her family (husband, two children ages 3 and 5) - all were happy with everything.
Great food, atmosphere and service. We were very impressed with the quality and selection of dinner options.
My husband, toddler and I tried to go here last night after going on the train to Christmas town. The host greeted us with a dirty look. She told us we could sit at a tiny bar table with a high chair or wait an hour and a half for a table. There was no one waiting to be seated and open tables. I don't mind waiting for a table when they are busy. But when there are open tables with no other people waiting to be seated, an hour and a half is ridiculous. Needless to say, we left and found somewhere else to eat. Obviously they did not want a small child in their restaurants. We even checked their menu for kids options before going. I will not be trying to go back without my child, and I recommend that anyone with children do not try to eat here as they were not friendly or understanding at all.
Great restaurant and staff, love getting a bite to eat here. Thanks.
Excellent food and service as always!
We were traveling through the area and thought this restaurant looked intriguing. We were not disappointed. The service was super, the food was delicious, and the owner came to our table to make sure everything was perfect. I travel frequently for work and have been to a lot of great restaurants across the country. This one is on my top ten list for sure.
Lovely dinner with my brother in law. Quiet setting, unrushed by our server, giving us time to get caught up. The salmon was excellent, house Pinot Noir was good. Thanks for the relaxing evening.
Amazing food!
Service was friendly and helpful. Food for happy hour was very good and great price. We had very nice time. Will go again.
Love this place
The food here was exceptionally tasty, but the portions and the service are lacking. Lucky for us, we were not extremely hungry when we were seated for our dinner reservation. That was conveniently good since our appetizers didn't show up until about an hr after we were seated. It looked like our service was either forgotten or difficult as we noticed multiple other dinner parties arrive after us, eat, and then leave before our food had arrived. It also didn't help that our bill was incorrectly charged to my card before I brought the mistake to the waiter's attention. The food here is above average, but their service is on a different level from their food, and that's not a good thing. We tried their crispy pork cheek and asparagus & green garlic soup. I loved the crispy pork cheek, it had the spices similar to a falafel in this crispy fried medallion while the innards were moist and tender. My only regret with that appetizer is that there was just a single half-dollar sized medallion. While the baby kale and house made chicharones were tasty, the pork cheek was seriously rare. The asparagus and green garlic soup was certainly creamy, but I felt that it was overly creamy to the point that, besides from the obvious garlic flavoring, what you tasted was predominantly heavy cream. As for the entree itself, their cast iron paella certainly was tasty. Your nostrils are filled with the scent of sea with the large prawns, bay shrimps, calamari, and manila clams while also having a smokey scent from the house made chorizo.
Good place good food
Food excellent as usual. Service a little ragged.
Quite possibly the best place for dinner in the Gorge. Happy hour is generous. Good wine list. These people care about their clientele.
They only have one good thing on the menu.
Food is consistently great, wait staff is excellent
Very nice ambience. Very good food and very friendly wait staff. Wish the menu had a few more choices.
The Soup The Soup wow & that was just the beginning!
Very nice restaurant & bar, service was excellent and food great! Ben does an excellent job mixing cocktails and offering advice if you need it with the menu and/or area. Enjoyed the Celilo experience!
