I have worked at the Woodhouse for many years. The reasons I stayed is because I take pride great pride in the quality of food we deliver, and I have always been treated well over the years. We changed ownership, but nothing has changed. Same friendly environment, same great quality food!!!

The bun was hard and hardly had any fries. Went through the drive-thru for the wondermeal. Just not the same as before - food quality has changed :-(. Stopped again for lunch - didn't say anything because I wasn't looking for anything free and didn't want them to know we were coming. The food was excellent - order the same as always. The other time must of been an opps. Great food, price and service - keep up the awesome job! Thank you for good food

I've been going to this restaurant since 1970. In that time, ownership has changed, but the menu has remained fairly constant. Excellent hamburgers, well worth the trip just for the burgers. My favorite is the Cheese Frenchee, which is kind of a deep fried grilled cheese sandwich. They've kept the funky telephones in each booth, which allows you to order directly. I stop by The Wood House every time I'm in Bismarck.

A long time favorite among locals, this quaint burger joint serves traditional American fare as well as German favorites, including great knoephla soup, and guilty pleasures such as the ever-tempting Cheese Frenchie! Service is speedy and prices are low, though portion sizes are small by modern standards. A fun quirk for dine-in customers is the unique system of ordering: by phone! On the wall at each booth, customers will find a full menu posted next to an old-school phone (complete with cord!) that connects them to the kitchen. Patrons peruse the menu at their leisure, then simply phone in their orders. As a kid, it was a special treat to be allowed to place the order!

This was my first visit and I will definitely be returning on my next trip to Bismarck. It had a really cool old school feel. We sat down, the server was super friendly and quickly explained how we order and a few basics about their menu. Once we figure out what we wanted, we picked up the phone at our booth,a feature Ive never had the pleasure of experiencing, and placed our order. Being it was our first time, the server quick ran out and double checked with us to make sure our experience was perfect. We barely had time to start a conversation before our food was brought out to us. High quality burgers on a lightly toasted bun. The burger was delicious and far superior to any fast food joint around that we may have stopped at instead. We also had the chili fries and there was no shortage of chili or cheese and there was plenty of meat in the chili. The dries were crisp but not over cooked and neither fries nor burger were greasy. I was very pleased withy meal and will be sending anyone who asks for a good ave to eat in Bismarck to Wood House. Great dining experience, good portions, great service, and very speedy. Two thumbs up for sure!!

They claim to have the best Burgers ND. I don't know about this, but the double cheeseburger I just had was pretty damned good . So we're the home made onion rings. None of that fresh from the freezer to the fryolator BS here. -- I highly recommend.

It took forever to get drinks and didn't get one of the kids drinks, never advised of daily specials or soups. Received food and there were a pile of mushrooms under my burger. asked a lady where they came from and she didn't know but said the cooks must have gotten sloppy. ordered a kid Sunday and had to have them switch it, and Everytime we ordered it took forever to answer the phone. Not impressed.

The burgers were good, you can certainly tell the use good beef. It's not worth the cost though. Hubs and I got 2 burger platters (add fries, onion rings and coleslaw for $4.90) and a milkshake our total was 25.98. There was plenty of food, I wasn't impressed with the 2 onion rings we got per platter. That seems a bit less than is right and they were tasteless. The milkshake tasted a bit like the old McDonald's milkshakes. It was fine. The coleslaw was good, but it was half a container. Bottom line this is an experience restaurant. The food alone doesn't live up to the price for us.

Been going to Wood House since I was a kid, now my kids love going there. Great burgers and fun for the kids to order on the phone. Cherry sprite floats are great! They have so many good items. This is not a health food place, and that's what makes it such a tasty treat from time to time.

Staff was rude to us when we came in. The food was very bland and my burger wasn't done all the way. No one came to our table to offer refills, we had to wait ten minutes to cash out because the staff was ignoring us. Im very disappointed in this place cuz I've heard so many wonderful things about it but the truth is that it was a horrible experience for my fiancé and I. We will not be coming back.

Food was good. Prices reasonable. Nice old school atmosphere. I thought their burger could have used a little more salt, mine was a little bland, but not bad by any means. The burger was a good portion size with lots of pickles and onions, with a soft toasted bun, just the way I like it. Fries and onion rings were as expected. Overall, I'd eat here again.

I've been eating at the Woodhouse since I was a kid. While the system of placing an order may seem odd to some, it is an institution that is part of the draw for the throng of repeat patrons. The burgers are definitely as advertised; world famous: amazingly juicy, and so satisfying.

The historic Bismarck burger joint. Fast casual before there was "fast casual". Inexpensive greasy spoon. Fast service. Old fashioned smaller size servings. Be sure to get a malt or shake, and a buffalo burger. Try the pub burger.

This used to be a very good burger place. I thing the ownership has changed since its NOT anymore. I just had a Woodhouse Wondermeal. The cheeseburger was cold, the fries underdone and the actual burger is much smaller than it used to be. No better than the corporate places anymore, just more expensive.

Sign outside claims they have the world's best hamburger, but the ones we had were very disappointing. Untoasted, dry, white bun, meat on the dry side, processed cheese on the cheeseburger. Extremely overpriced! Definitely will NOT be going back.

They advertise the best burgers in the world, and I must admit my mushroom swiss burger was quite yummy. The atmosphere is unique - fashioned after an old fashioned diner, you order your meal by picking up the phone on the wall. It's reminiscent of a juke box for all you fellow old folks. They serve beer now, but if you would rather have dessert I've been told their butterscotch shake is excellent. A great place for young and old alike, this restaurant is a great value for the money.

Had a Buffalo (Bison, not the spice flavor) Burger with mushrooms and cheese; and Chili Cheese Fries. The burger was handmade, cooked well, and tasted alright. However, the underside of the burger was EXTREMELY salty so it masked the true flavor of the meat a lot. And, generally, I prefer to get bison burgers where I can. I would agree with some of the other people who said that the prices are a bit inflated for the quality of food that you receive. $1.30 to add mushrooms to my burger seemed a little steep; especially when discovering upon my meal's arrival, that they were mushrooms out of a can.

I saw all the posts that this place was so good and had the "best" burger in Bismark so we had to try it. What a joke. First off the service was terrible, no greeting when we walked in nothing. Waitress never came back to see if we needed anything. It is a quirky restaurant, you order by a phone at your table, not a huge menu but that was ok we were here for the "best" burgers. I was presented with a small burger with pickles and onions and that cheese that tastes like plastic and sticks to your teeth, kind of looked like something that came out of the microwave. The chili burger was equally small with barely enough chili to cover the meat and tasted like it came out of a can. The fries were good. The place was clean.

Not what we’d hoped for. Pictures of food gave the impression that they were much bigger. Decent food but overpriced. Unique dining experience with the ordering by phone but not worth it. Would suggest passing this ‘unique’ attraction.

If you want to eat great simple food in a place that your Grandma and Grandpa ate at back in the day, this is it. You even order over a phone in your booth! Chicken and dumpling soup was hot, flavorful and definitely not from a can. The bread on my BLT was awesome and the bacon wasn't overcooked. Nobody likes bacon dust... Or at least burnt bacon dust. The place was busy but it didn't take long to get our order. Stop by if you can.

We didnt even get through ordering before we left and nobody tried to stop us. The place is outdated and after you seat yourself and someone brings you warm water (no ice) without saying anything. Then you try to order through old phones and it's so staticky you can barely hear anything. We have young kids and they didn't understand why nobody worked there or talked to us. Neither did my husband and I. So we left.
