We had breakfast. I was amazed they didn't have flavored cream for coffee. Ihop, dennys and even quick stops do. My coffee is first on my meal. I didn't have coffee. They have been in buisness a long time. That extra makes a huge difference.

Stopped by this restaurant on our way to the Outer Banks for our family vacation this year and was pleasantly surprised.. Aside from the great food, our waitress Kelly was so kind and helpful with tips for our trip down to the Outer Banks. She made this stop much more favorable and we hope to have her again when we stop on the way home!

Just wanted the salad bar. Not the soup and salad bar. Was charged same price. Salad bar consisted of lettuce, tomatoes, cheese, cucumbers, chopped egg, onion and oil and vinegar dressing. Nothing else. No other dressings. Later waitress asked if I wanted dressing. I guess they keep dressings in kitchen. Ate a few crackers. A couple of fruits set out but had not been replenished.

Oh boy oh boy oh boy. Who doesn't love a great all you can eat buffet. Especially when you get there 1/2 hour before breakfeast ends and lunch starts. The best of both meals. Eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, corned beef hash, fresh fruit, then follow it up with some fried chicken, meatloaf, okra, tilapia, french fries, mashed potatoes and make sure you leave room for desert. A must stop on your way to the Carolina's.

The good, BBQ, Fried Chicken, rolls are fantastic as is the mashed potatoes. Ribs were dry and a little tough as were the pork chops, what was called catfish nuggets were actually tilapia but still okay. What looked to be like pot roast meat that was shredded was very unseasoned and Bland to The Taste, vegetables where very Bland and unseasoned as well. If it weren't for these things I would have definitely give it 4 stars, the service there is really fantastic we had a great waitress who catered to our every needs. So overall it is a pretty good experience to go there and have a buffet, we will definitely go back just for the barbecue rolls and fried chicken.

Now wait this review is only for the buffet, not the sit down menu. Well I have to be honest, not out of this world. Not among my top 10. I will have to go back for the menu version. Standard truck stop faire with a side of fruit. Their are no frills, great place to fill your tanks and get going. For this restaurant sits at the right place of being inexpensive. It does have a great location for those who are on the last leg of their journey to the beaches or just a start home. The staff is friendly and make sure you give them a hug just letem know you care. If comin or going stop don't just have a coffee, make it a meal.

Great southern style buffet breakfast! Had grits and biscuits and gravy. Piles of bacon and sausage. Also had cereal, granola and fresh fruit. The whole family was happy. And it was reasonably priced.

I ordered the Chicken Fried Steak dinner with two sides. Instead of a cube steak, the waiter brought a grilled hamburger patty out. He then argued with me about what they consider to be a "steak." The sides weren't any better. For corn on the cob, I got a quarter piece of corn that was mushy. The mashed potatoes came in a small dessert bowl and was about 1/3 cup size. $10 for this!? Never again.

Stopped there on the way back from the Outer Banks, NC for lunch. They have a lunch buffet that was very good with good service. If you are traveling through the area, I recommend you stop by. Not sure if they have Military discounts, forgot to ask since the buffet with salad and desert was less than$10.00.

I loved my visit here because of how amazing the food and customer service was. My favorite thing to eat here is everything in the buffet on Thursdays and Saturdays. If you are looking for a great place to take your family or loved one to chow down on some amazing food then Southland is the place for you. They also have some pretty great deals I hear throught the week. I encourage you to research more and see if that's something you want to try.

Quite possibly my favorite restaurant around. Other than their salad dressings everything is like my granny made it and it has been good every time. The buffets are good and the offerings change by the day. The deserts around the buffet are the only things that seem lacking, but the molasses bread pudding things are ity of this world.

I had the buffet it was over priced for the quality of food. Some items on the buffet were cold. Chicken and seafood was overcooked and dry. Bbq was pretty good. My wife ordered shrimp and oyster plate after about 20 minutes the waitress tells my wife they are out of oysters and can only give her shrimp. They charged the same price for the shrimp as was the price for oyster and shrimp combo. Oysters cost much more than shrimp but they would not give any discount. Very disappointed and will not go back

Good food with decent prices. Most people purchase the buffet which has fried fish & chicken, mashed potatoes, mac & cheese (not like homemade), salad, soups, rolls, chopped greens (could be canned or frozen, but seasoned good), minced pork. Chopped chicken was not a choice on buffet or with the fried chicken/ BBQ platter. Great service-- Cheryl is very personable and fast. She has a great demeanor. My family and I were stuffed when we left.

The earlier review was wrong on Google part. I gave you a 3-1/2 rating. A few little improvements were need to get to a 4+. Impove a little on vegetable seasoning and dessert selections. We have eaten at Southland many times and plan to do so in the future. Service is always great & cost very reasonable.

Bar was great and was kept full. We also had an order from the menu. That order delivered after everyone else had finished with their meals. This was twice in as many visits. We will need to think about coming back, for awhile. Otherwise the service was great.

Best NC-style barbeque around - and that's coming from a North Carolina native. Simple and cheap. Looks like a gas-station from the outside, but it's a lot more than that. A diner on one side, a full buffet restaurant on the other, and a big shop in the middle full of everything from carpets to tourist nicknacks to home-made fudge and ice cream. Worth a stop if your crossing the VA/NC border. Better than Border Station in every way that matters.

We got breakfast, the western omelet which was really good! The prices didnt seem to bad..but I was only looking at the breakfast items.. one thing they do which I hate when restaurants do is give a certain price for the omelet (just the eggs) and to add anything was a dollar for thing you'd like to add..instead of having different omletes..like the veggie is my favorite but I'm not paying over $10 for it.. the waitresses were super nice

Ordered a 10 piece fried chicken to go. This is the worst fried chick I have ever had. The chicken was fried in very OLD OIL.. Some of the chicken was over fried and the dripping from chicken that was in the bottom of the old oil. Was on the fried chicken. You could taste the OLD OIL on the skin and chicken. Will not order fried chicken there again. Hostess was very nice

The food was ok, we wanted pancakes or waffles. Ended up w waffles, well a waffle each. No sides it was just a waffle. It was the waitresses first day at lunch time. She tried...my sister ask for a cup of coffee so she brought it out and my sister went to pick it up after she left and it was cold. So we ask her for another cup and she said i knew i should hv made a new pot, then she went to make it. I think she was a little nervous. Even though each thing kinda went like that, we still gv a good tip because she seemed to be trying and we've been there before and the food was good. My brother in law likes their , i think its catfish.
