Recently moved from out of state and have tried City Barbeque twice (in 3 days). As an avid barbequer myself I'm very particular when going out for BBQ. I have to admit I was nervous at trying a chain, but City Barbeque knocked it out of the park! Service is exceptional, all of the meats are spot on with great smoke rings and bark, sauces are all uniquely excellent, sides are fantastic, in fact the baked beans are the best I've ever had! We'll be back over and over again.

I think City Barbeque has the best meats. The pulled pork and beef brisket are my favorites. But the turkey is very delicious. The sides are great also. I really enjoy the potato salad and collards. For lunch I like to get the cowbell. It's a beef brisket sandwich with onions, green peppers and provolone on Texas toast. They also offer cooked whole turkeys or turkey breast for pick up on Thanksgiving day. I have bought my turkey for Thanksgiving from City Barbeque the past two years. The customer service is always top notch. This City Barbeque store is run very well. The only complaint i can think of is they need some ice cream to go on their triple chocolate cake and peach cobbler. Do your self a favor and down load the City Barbeque app. You get points for every dollar you spend that will give you discounts on food.

By far my favorite BBQ place in the country. My family always gets the Lo Lo's sandwiches which are delicious, I usually get the brisket sandwich though I can't quite remember the name, however both have very memorable flavors. My wife got the pulled chicken. Last time and it was delicious, though she likes the (I think it's grilled?) Chicken breast sandwich better. Definitely worth the visit, and quite inexpensive for the quality and taste of food!

Great variety of BBQ meats. Huge sauce bar. Tasty sides. Burnt ends do sell out fast, but they're worth it. The "side salad" is simple, but has good quality ingredients and it is huge. I like adding some of the meat from my plate to the salad - the smoked turkey is my favorite for this application. One meat plate with two salads is a perfect lunch for two people. There are a couple sampler plates available, they are large enough to share for dinner.

Got the 1/2lb of brisket with fried okra. Thought brisket was exceptional, it was very moist and tender. Will be coming back to try other menu options in the future. The okra was really good. The okra was not mushy, or over cooked it had the perfect balance of softness and crunch. We were very impressed. Sauces were great too. They’ve got a nice rack of sauces to pick from, so there’s definitely going to be something for everyone. Our order was prepared very quickly. I don’t think we waited longer than three minutes.

Excellent BBQ with fair prices. You walk in, take your order and pay, and find a seat while they cook your food. I had the ribs, brisket and fries. Ribs were nearly cooked perfect with both tenderness and not falling off the bone. Brisket was very tender as well. They have various BBQ sauces of which mostly uses Western-North Carolina style BBQ sauces, so they are thicker and sweeter. They do have the tangy eastern-southern Carolina sauce of which is a lot lighter and more vinegar based, but they only had one type of this sauce when I was here. Regardless, good was excellent, so definitely make a pit stop here if you’re near the area. We stopped here twice when we’re here.

Great BBQ. Burnt ends and brisket are especially good. Sides are also excellent, especially the baked beans with brisket and corn pudding. Service always friendly, they will let you taste samples, 6 or 8 different sauces, management quickly addresses any issues.

First visit, you walk up to a cashier, place your order, pick up your food and choose a table. The beef brisket with a side of collards and pork was delicious.They offer 8 different sauces and a selection of craft beers, I chose Jordan Lake IPA. The restaurant was very busy for lunch, but there was still adequate seating inside and out. Parking is plentiful because the restaurant is located in a shopping mall.

So far, best BBQ I’ve had in Raleigh. The property looks so much like a chain but it does not have a chain taste. I’ve had many a Lexington NC BBQ, even places in eastern NC and Winston Salem, and it was so Smokey and juicy! Homemade Mac and cheese. Quick, too! And what’s even better, they have so many styles of BBQ sauce....so whether you Iike a more vinegar, more spicy, more saucy and sweet, there were more than ten varieties!

Best place for barbeque in the area. I have had everything on their menu and enjoyed them all. Meat is always moist and comes in generous portions. They also honour our veterans by giving a free sandwich and two sides to us veterans on veterans day.

We usually get the pulled pork sandwich and I get a side of potato salad to go with it. The sandwiches are always huge and full of sweet smokey meat. The potato salad is the best anywhere! The service and atmosphere are very friendly and encourage an enjoyable meal. We prefer this location over the Garner location.

City BBQ is consistently good. It's our go- to BBQ place now. The hush puppies are the best I've had, the beef brisket is tender, juicy, and full of flavor, the vinegar based Cole slaw may also be my favorite. They had less sauce options than in the past, which I was disappointed about, but they still had at least 5, which is more than most. The Mac and cheese is solid- it's not The Pit good, but the brisket is better, so it's a fair trade. The pulled pork is just ok in my opinion. We had the sausage for the first time and it was fantastic! I will choose sausage and brisket again next time. I love the bottled soda selection they offer- Big Red, Nehi Peach, etc. It's hard to find some of those, so it's fun to have them at City BBQ.

Excellent barbecue, the ribs are wonderful, and the staff are really concerned that you have the best experience possible. You need to expand this into other locations, specifically Charleston, SC. Some of the best barbecue I've ever had. Brisket had just the right amount of fat, and the ribs were perfect--almost but not quite falling off the bone. Good portions for a good price, though they were out of the turkey and burnt ends an hour after opening (about 11:40am) on a Thursday, and were packed with a line out the door half an hour after that, so you may want to plan to get here early if you want in on those. I particularly enjoyed the Cheerwine barbecue sauce, and the corn pudding was to die for. I'm probably not going to be in North Carolina for a while, but I know I'm going to be thinking of coming back for that corn pudding for ages.

I went here as a part of a fundraiser for a "Spirit Night." The food is tasty, if a little pricey. My brisket sandwich was delicious, albeit rather greasy. That made it pretty hard to eat. We got some loaded fries and they were quite good. My kids both got loaded mac and cheese with brisket and thoroughly enjoyed them. I liked the potato salad and the baked beans. Their hush puppies are "golf ball" style. They're fairly tasty, but I don't like the dense texture as well as the "fritter" style you get at a traditional NC BBQ restaurant. It gets pretty loud inside the restaurant. The patio is the way to go on a nice evening. However, the sun does set on some of the patio, so it's not going to be great on a hot day.

I love this place! Best southern bbq in town. I love the variety of bbq sauce they offer. The sides are delicious as well. Sweet tea to die for! Just be careful getting the fries to go because they get soggy easily. Pretty much anything fried is that way. They have cornhole out front and lots of outdoor seating. 10/10 would reccomend!

The sides are the star of the show at City BBQ. I have many friends agree that the fried okra is the best anywhere. Collards are wonderful, gumbo is insane. Also, there is a variety of sides (like 8) that change seasonally -- so there is always something new to try. So, you will love the BBQ here, but the sides steal the show.

I tried this for the first time yesterday and was very disappointed. I got the pulled chicken with mac and cheese. The first bite into the chicken I got a hard chunk of cartilage. So I looked thru the chicken and found a bone about 2 in. long. Grossed me out that I couldn't attempt to eat that anymore. Moved on to the mac and cheese which tasted like fake cheese sauce. Out of the $12 lunch, the only decent thing was the banana pudding!

We have small kids so it was super chaotic there. It was packed and there was a line out the door on a Saturday night. There aren't waiters there, you have to serve yourself and so next time we will just do take out. The food was incredible though!

Good experience for me and my friends. Even though the line was long It went quickly. The food was fresh. My only complaint was that the pulled chicken I ordered was mostly fat and not much chicken. It reminds me of the chain "Mission Barbecue".

I got there 30 minutes after they open on a friday which was pretty full but they moved everyone along quickly. I got the brisket and ribs with fries and the jacked mac with bacon. The ribs were pretty good i enjoyed them. The mac and cheese was phenomenal. It was so cheesy and had a great texture. Fries were great as well but the star of the show was the brisket. That thing was juicy and fall apart tender. It was a fatty piece too which is where all your flavor is at. City bbq does it right. If you want some good bbq then this is the place for you.

Food is fine but store forgot items for my delivery order and since they used Doordash to deliver the food, doordash could do nothing to give me credit or a refund for the missing food. Called the store ten times during operating hours to try and get a hold of them but they apparently don't pick up or have a downed phone line. Currently unable to get to the store like I typically do but that's why I got delivery in the first place. So basically, I paid for food that I never got and I can't contact anyone from the store so I guess I'm out of luck. Not even going to bother disputing with the card company for this one. Lack of ways to contact the store is annoying.

Its a legit BBQ place pulled chicken I got was pretty good even with out BBQ sauce on it. My other half got pulled pork she liked it our 4 year old got chicken and fries. My only complaint is Mac n cheese was not good but ice tea was homemade and pretty good would recommend it and will go back.

They also offer a wide variety of sauces and toppings to jazz up your meal if you wish. Dropping one star because on busy days it can be a bit confusing to navigate inside and is a bit hectic. We go every Tuesday for Rib Bone Tuesday, Ribs are 40 % off. Love their collard greens, green beans fresh cut french fries. All their food is delicious. Very friendly, everyone always has a welcoming smile. They even have a Rewards program.

I order the beef brisket, corn pudding, & bake beans. The beans was an little strong for my taste but I in up getting another corn pudding. I really enjoyed the corn pudding & the brisket was wonderful.

I love City BBQ!!!! I got hooked on their brisket so bad I had to buy a smoker and make my own! Every time I'm working in the area I make sure to eat lunch there! I eat there so much, they know me by my name when I come in!

Have been to this location multiple times. A great cross section of smoked meats. Love the Cowbell sandwich. The sides at ok, my favorite is the baked beans. As with most spots the banana pudding is the generic variety, which to us old fashioned banana pudding fans is a vast disappoint which is why this is a 4 star review. Any place advertising banana pudding that isn't the old fashion way automatically gets a demerit for getting my hopes high. Yes, I love banana pudding, and those who do, understand my dwelling on this subject.

Update- I have tried the new Mac n cheese with bacon and it’s much better. Glad to see the business is watching reviews and taking time to comment and hear what the customers like and what they think needs some improvement. Great job City BBQ! I have been here three times now and I’m addicted to this place. The pulled pork is good. First time I ate it without bbq sauce and it was good. Second and third time I tried with sauce and it was even better. The Mac n cheese isn’t the greatest but it’s good. I’d definitely eat here over and over. The wait times can be kind of long but I can see why and I’d rather wait for good food than go to some place like Cookout and get some slop on a bun that tastes like cat food. Wait in line, try this place out. You’ll be happy you did.

Never disappoints. Don't go expecting a typical "NC Joint"- kinda Vibe. This place is more about selection and trying different styles and fixins'. Yes they have pulled pork but they also have so much more. I recommend smoked turkey sandwich if you've never had it.

The place was clean and the cooks talked to you about the sauce. Meats were hit or miss, chicken was great, Turkey was great, sagauge was bad (might have been over cooked and dry), the brisket was good needed flavor. The sides were good for the most part. Cornbread and good but dry. We got the 60$ family plate and was lunch hour and we still got the meal right away. Overall a great experience. 4stars

Fantastic brisket and ribs, several choices of sauce. Brush fire sauce is sweet and spicy with a hint of smoke. This is one of the best "traditional" BBQ places around, for anyone who grew up outside North Carolina. The lines are often long, but the service is speedy and friendly. Definitely one of my go-to places.

In the land of Carolina BBQ, it’s always nice to have a reliable BBQ joint. I understand they are a chain, but if Carolina style isn’t your thing, City always has good food and sides. They have a good outdoor seating area at this location as well, partly shaded and umbrellas on the ones that aren’t under the overhang.
