You know that we don't usually bother to give feddbacks when they are positive and we usually do it only if we've had a problem or incidence...
This Catering belongs to the category of Fine dining restaurant.
This place was very good. I don't quite understand why a resturant won't accept discover card. It's expencive enough that I should be able to pay with any major card...
The atmosphere is old/continental and some of the menu options seems that way too, but everything tasted amazing and the service was great.
Perfect atmosphere , excellent food and wine!
Food was good, ambience a bit too formal for my taste
Great place to dine if your attending a performance or function at CPCC. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and our waiter was very helpful. The Scallops with Cherry Sauce were outstanding as was the pasta special with Bolognese Sauce. Nice Selection of wines.
Excellent food. Good service and atmosphere.
The food and service here is top notch!! Overall, a great place for a date night! We had the trout and beet salad... AMAZING!!! Everythining: drinks appetizers, entrees and dessert was really wonderful!! My only complaint, there's a huge flower pot in the middle of the room that was very banquet-like and distracting.. In general, the restaurant could use a definite change in layout to make it more cozy.. It felt like the tables were haphazardly placed and everyone's sort of crowded in.
Fancy but not pretentious restaurant with several delicious dishes on the menu. The fried chicken is their most famous, surprisingly, but is well deserving of the praise over the years. Friendly service and lots of specialty drinks.
We celebrated our Valentine Anniversary there and what an amazing time. A great 3 course Prix Fixe menu in a very romantic setting served by a terrific team of servers. This is a must for a romantic or special night out! Can't wait to try their regular menu.
We went to Carpe Diem last night for a midweek date. The ambience was lovely from the moment we opened the door. We were seated right away (we had made reservations for the bar area on Open Table) and our drink orders (craft cocktails) were quickly delivered. They were delish! We shared two apps and one main plate, and everything was prepared wonderfully well. There's some great stuff going on in their kitchen! Most importantly, our steak came out exactly as ordered. Service was professional and friendly throughout our evening, there when you needed something but otherwise not intrusive in the least. Solid, experienced staffing! We will absolutely be returning.
Been coming here for what feels like forever, and it never disappoints.
I was just there to for a short while. My friends had several appetizers and wine they said it was delicious
I loved the ambience and the food was delicious.
Top notch service and really great food without too much fuss. A great atmosphere helps make this an all around great experience.
Love this place! Still strong after 26 years
Great place great food!
Super nice with a excellent food choices and a great wine/beer menu. Staff is friendly and attentive. While this place is pricier, it is a value based on the experience.
Carpe Diem is one of the finest, most delicious restaurant establishments in Charlotte. I highly recommend a visit to this Elizabeth spot. The fried chicken is some of the best I've ever had. The service is professional and welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu. The ambiance is romantic and chill, as opposed to something that could come off as stuffy.
Wonderful dinner with great service.
One of my favorite spots in Charlotte. You'll find a variety of new american cuisine. The service and atmosphere are both warm and inviting. Highly recommended.
Get the fried chicken. Your taste buds will breakdance.
Separate meeting room allowed effective presentation with a great meal. Salmon was prepared well and creme brulee was delicious.
The Place is awesome and its worth for a visit the fried chicken is the best here or I have eaten
Worth every star! Service is A stark contrast vs. other restaurants. Keep up the good work!
One of the finest dining experiences I've had here for the past 4 years. Excellent attention to detail and a true 5 star service. Thanks guys, we'll be back!
This place is outrageous..especially for the price. 1/3 off house cocktails on Tuesdays is difficult to beat with a bartender that didn't skimp on the alcohol. Seasonal fare is very tasty and fresh. A must to go if you're in the Charlotte area
The food I had was very good there is definitely a reason its has been one of Charlottes best restaurants for a while.
Food was amazinggg. SO and I split the steamed oyster appetizer, both got the goat cheese salad, and I had the beef fillet and he had the venison entrée. Everything was simply delicious, especially the steak. Done medium well, seriously the best steak I've ever had. We both ate well past being full, it was just too good to leave anything behind. Wine list was extensive and cocktails were made good and strong. Only reason I'm not giving 5 stars was there was some obvious damage to a few areas of the walls that deff hurt the overall atmosphere. Somewhere as upscale as this should be able to keep a pristine interior finish. I would absolutely go back.
Never trust a review from someone that posts in all caps and uses the word 'sucked". ;-)
Try the mango chutney
Nice restaurant with good creative dishes, responsive knowledgeable servers bartenders. Business functions there were nice. Restaurant is laid out nicely.
One of our regular stops. Always spot on
I had a great dinner with business associates there. The roasted grape salad was well composed and the duck breast and mushroom dish was full of umami and quite possibly the best duck I've ever had. For the food and experience quality, the pricing is also very fair. Highly recommended!
There is no other restaurant in Charlotte that delivers unpretentious white tablecloth high end service and consistent quality of food like Carpe Diem. As a vegetarian, I was especially impressed by choices beyond pasta and the obvious attention that was paid to my preferences as well as spice combinations. Don't miss any of the desserts too! Staff knowledgable.
Very nice restaurant.
The area of town was historically and beautiful.
Definitely one of the best meals I have had in the Charlotte area.
Amazing food and service
Excellent dining experience. The host very happily gave me a window-side table when I asked for it. Brad, the waiter, was very attentive and happily answered any questions. The food was nicely presented and tasted wonderfully.
excellent all around. i would be happy to come again and again.
Nice tucked away gem
Excellent! Romantic atmosphere, great food, and top notch service! We ordered the raw oysters, a warm goat cheese salad, and the signature fried chicken with gravy and mashed potatoes. Absolutely delicious! Would highly recommend!
Carpe Old Fashiond! One of THE best in town.
Outstanding spot for tasty quality meals. Entered near eleven, it wasn't packed. Food and atmosphere reminds me of Kansas City.
This restaurant is known as an institution of Charlotte and after experiencing the impeccable service, carefully crafted cocktails and high quality eats, it's very easy to see why. They have a very broad menu that caters to a wide range of palates and dietary restrictions AND the staff always have great recommendations as well. Time and time again, it never disappoints. This is one place you don't want to miss!
Very Good. Some of the best food Ive had. It was a date night for me. Atmosphere was great. I was recommended by friends to try the Fried Chicken, to think a place this caliber had fried chicken? It did, and was cooked to perfection. This will be a return visit, most definitely.
Love it all!
Great service and great food.. the food combination was shocking but the flavor of the foods complimented each other for a delicious meal..
Great chicken tenders
Forget "Seizing the Day." Instead, sieze a cocktail here; it may well be the best part of your day! I've been to this long-time, much loved Charlotte eatery several times through the years (it's been in several different locations, but in it's current one for over 10 years.) I've always been enchanted with it as a lunch or dinner spot; this time it was for drinks and apps with a BFF. It was even better than ever! Parking anyhwhere on Elizabeth Avenue (territory of Central Piedmont Community College and Novant/Presbyterian Hospital) is reliably a hassle, but thankfully, Carpe Diem has a lot behind and one directly across the street, plus if you're lucky - on-street. I got an on-street space admist afterwork traffic this Tuesday: Score! I had to put a few dimes in, but since you only have to pay until 6 p.m., 20 cents was a small price to pay for front door real estate! My friend had already gotten us a perfectly sized table in the lounge area. Perfect because it nicely accommodated our drinks and two apps but didn't feel like we were supposed to be ordering dinner! The lounge area is near the bar and is so comfy! Lighting addequate for menu reading but soft enough to be relaxing. Music was perfect - the kind where you are vaguely aware there is "happy" feeling music in the background, but doesn't interefere with your thoughts or conversation. It was "1/3 off all cocktails" night so we each got adventurous. Mine was a "Maker's Man" because i love Maker's Mark, though I was a bit uncomfortable ordering such a gender-specific cocktail! A first sip I feared it was a "shudder cocktail" (the kind that makes you shudder) and the waitress offered to "soften" it. But at second sip a subtle vanilla and lavendar suffusion was noticeable and i enjoyed the nuanced taste so much i ordered a second - a rare treat for me! For apps we ordered the Cauliflower Flatbread Pizza ($10.50, described as house made naan bread, pickled garlic spread, caramelized shallots, roasted cauliflower, Swiss cheese, Merquez sausage) and the waitress helped us narrow our 2nd choice down to Mediterranean Meze Plate ($12: falafel cakes, crispy chickpeas, minted onions, curry aioli, smoky eggplant olive-pappadew salad, lemon-tahini dressing.) My companion was put off by the sausage on the pizza but i thought both plates were excellent. You can't go wrong with the meze plate - there is something for everyone. We stayed for two hours - a long time to linger over two cocktails and two apps - but we never felt at all rushed. The restaurant had steady in-and-out traffic, but never felt crowded or full. Carpe Diem retains its place as one of very my favorite go-to places for a lovely, low key evening.
While we had a nice experience at Carpe Diem, I would not call it a stand out. We will try it again though to make sure. The Fried Chicken was a stand out, but my black drum portion was small and the food overall seemed hotel quality.
Have been here twice and the food has been solid both times. The fried chicken is an absolute must, but also don't miss the octopus appetizer. I enjoy sitting in the up front bar area better than I do the main dining room because it feels a little bit more up-to-date and relaxed. The main dining room could use a little bit of a makeover.
Was an absolute great meal. The service was outstanding and the food did not take long to get to us. Was the right way to start our night out with a great dinner. Will be coming back.
Superior quality!
A wonderful place the food was GREAT!
We visited Carpe Diem for the first time for dinner recently and loved it. The restaurant is unique with its Art Deco Interior. Our server was Hope and she was very friendly and helpful. I tried the warm goat cheese salad as a starter and it was lovely. My sister had the wedge which was a different version of the wedge given it included black eyed peas and avocado. It was very tasty as well. I had the fried chicken with black pepper gravy and it was truly amazing! Total comfort food! My sister had the filet and also enjoyed it. We would highly recommend Carpe Diem and will definitely return.
Like this place! Bonnie is amazing to work with - she is unbelievably creative with her cooking, and really helped us to get the exact experience we wanted. Our guests all raved about how great the food was, which was really important to us as foodies. Every time we've come here as diners, the experience is just as good. The only time it wasn't to the nine's was during restaurant week, when (like most establishments) they are extremely rushed.
Excellent service! Great food! Went during restaurant week and it was a lot of fun! Good wine and beer selection. Coat check is always a plus and they make make it super easy, as it should be. Sat in the lounge area, in the bar, while we waited for our table, ordered drinks, enjoyed the night! Everyone working was so great!
Wonderful experience; great quality; excellent service; great atmosphere. One of our favorite restaurants since we moved to Charlotte 8 years ago.
It wasn’t labeled bouillabaisse but that was what is was. I have had bouillabaisse on both coasts and the gulf, but this was sensational beyond a doubt. Well done, I say, well done. Impeccable service to match. Will plan to go for a special event again.
Took my brother Tom out for his birthday to this lovely restaurant. The flavors are amazing! Five of us were delighted by the staff and decor. It was busy and they still took good care of our table. I am from LA and can't wait to visit this restaurant again! Jen C.
Though we dont come here often, we always enjoy our meal here immensely. A great atmosphere. My wife only gets the seared scallops since no place else is ever as good. I always try something different. If you prefer you can eat in their gorgeous bar.
Great food & service
Great simple place delicious food and great service
Went for restaurant week. Entree and bread was good, cocktails were good. Dessert only so-so. Server was very slow. Overall nice decor and atmosphere
A gem in the near uptown area. Always tasty and well thought out menu. The Art Deco decor is a feast for the eyes.
Oh my goodness! Delicious, friendly. Its an outstanding experience for all foodies !!
1st visit to this restaurant….. The staff was very nice and the chicken was so delicious.
Very nice and delightful
Great food! Waitress was really rushy with a bunch of empty tables. Not lying there was a bunch of empty tables. Doesn't really make sense if you're trying to make money.
They did my sons college graduation party. It was a first class job and would refer them to anyone in Charlotte.
Excellent as always, proper and attentive service, quality menu items and specials every time we go. Tonight's pork chop and trout dishes were well prepared but the pork took the cake! Speaking of, the only minor annoyance was a slightly dry coconut cake, but really I'd have to be picking nits to say it was not good.
Great place for a first date, and very accommodating with vegan options
Terrific $s for stupendously high quality food and its preparation. Staff is friendly, helpful and all-around outstanding.
Not only is the food outstanding.. And different.. The service is great too. Our waiter made great suggestions and was very attentive at just the right times! This restaurant is a top choice for us in Charlotte!!

one of my favorite spots here
Excellent service and the food exceeded my expectations. Great decor and friendly staff.
Great variety Food Hall tending toward the gourmet. Most are mainstays like Roberta's pizza and Luke's Lobster but they rotate others out periodically. Vendors can be a bit pricey to cover the food hall middleman operator.
Great food and service
Because the kids always do something on Sunday for Mother's Day I brought my wife here because a friend recommended the place. Filet was great. With drinks we got out for about $70. Good value and quality meal.
called in on a monday 30 min. before closing with a party of 5.no problem.the food all the way around was very good.the duck was second to some i had in germany.the wine list is small, but varied and priced fairly.i will be back!
Just okay food. Nothing special.
Excellent staff and food, will go again!
Great ambiance, impeccable service and wonderful dishes. Thanks Crystal and the kitchen staff!
Great neighborhood restaurant for good food and gathering with friends. They're almost a Charlotte institution. They've been consistently serving good food and being engaged in their local community for over a decade.
Made reservation for my wife's birthday based on reviews. The atmosphere was nice and waiter was good, but overall experience was terrible. I ordered the venison cooked to chefs recommended temperature, which was told was medium/medium rare. Three small pieces arrived and were barely rare. It was like cutting through a rubber ball. Everything else on plate was too salty to eat. Wife ordered scallops, which were 4 quarter sized scallops and overlooked Brussels sprouts. You could see more of plate than food. Finished evening with a finger of overpriced single malt and chocolate martini, which wife said was made with Hershey's syrup.
Carpe Diem is one of my favorite upscale restaurants in Charlotte. The service is always fantastic and the food is delicious. My favorite menu item is the buttermilk chicken. I highly recommend it!
Love the warm goat cheese salad, one of my favorite dishes in Charlotte.
The food was excellent, the service was stellar and the ambiance was the topping on the cake.
Elegant with good food and wonderful service. One of my favorite restaurants
Very traditional spot. Charlotte Agenda raves about the fried chicken dish...it was okay. Mashed potatoes were better than the chicken IMO.
I have been a regular customer for years and this place is a definite staple for foodies in Charlotte! I would highly recommend this place, you can almost order anything on the menu and expect to love it. The fried chicken is amazing! (which you would think who recommends fried chicken?!?!) It isn't greasy at all or like any other fried chicken you have had! The warm goat cheese salad is another must! Their food is well executed, made with local ingredients and very fresh!
Great place to dine if your attending a performance or function at CPCC. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and our waiter was very helpful. The Scallops with Cherry Sauce were outstanding as was the pasta special with Bolognese Sauce. Nice Selection of wines..
Always delicious
Fantastic atmosphere and food. Great upscale date night. The filet and salmon are amazing. Highly recommend it.
We had Carpe Diem cater our wedding and they were AWESOME!! Guests were coming up to our table saying “omg this is the best!” and that’s what we wanted. Bonnie was great and we didn’t have to worry about one thing except to enjoy our wedding. If you’re looking for a caterer book Carpe Diem!
Excellent except limited selection of entrees. Recommend. Service excellent
We choose Carpe Diem restaurant for our special celebration. The service was great, the food was excellent. Thank you
Went here last night without seeing their menu. My husband is bold and ordered the grilled octopus, it was strange to see a leg but surprisingly good! He also ordered the braised rabbit and I ordered the Scottish Salmon which both were equally delicious! The service was awesome and the food came out in impressive time! I will be back.
Our waitress was wonderful, the quality of the food was not good. Two sent plates back as it was cooked to a cinder. The chicken would have been better from KFC and the place was empty... shame, first impression were good. Definately not worth the the trip for the food. They need a chef replaced.
For that special significant other. A romantic setting with just the right lighting and atmosphere. The warm goat cheese salad is terrific. The mushroom bolognese will satisy the meat eater as well. Try any of the desserts with hot black coffee for a nice finish. If you've read this far ask for Delilah and table 210. A nice curtainable nook for two! Like sitting in bar area for some good aoos. and drinks. Very comfortable and easy before a show at visulite theater. Been there 10x and always happy.
Can't say enough about it. Love this place!
Elegant but comfortable spot for great food with a Southern flair. Service was great. Small but well selected wine list. Great place!
Great place
“Excellent dinner and service ” Visited for a birthday dinner. Had a table in a nook with birthday confetti on table. Nice touch. Ambiance is romantic and rustic. Restaurant sits on a corner so ample windows. Menu is diverse and wholesome - fresh and distinct. Black bean, kale and sausage soup, and special kale and apple salad were excellent. Husband had signature fried chicken and...
Off the chain!
My favorite Charlotte!
Very delicious. Great service.
Food, drink, service...all excellent!
First time visiting and it was okay. The place is very beautiful inside and there were lots of low lightening. You really felt cozy and relaxed while eating. I got the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Breast and it was okay. It came with spinach and mashed potatoes. Nothing really negative to say about the restaurant. It was an okay experience.
Great food friendly place
The service was great! The lady that waited on us, was on her A game. The food left a lot to be desired. The Mushroom Bolanase with Oyster Mushrooms, plain and boring. The Taglatel pasta was clumpy, and sauce didn't penetrate the center of the clump. You couldn't taste the mushrooms in the sauce. It was a dish that got your hopes up, and left you hanging. The last time I was there I had the fried Chicken with mashed potatoes and gravy, and Asparagus. The chicken was flat tasting, and had very little seasoning in the crust. It was extremely crunchy, well cooked, and moist in the center. You could get better fried chicken at Bojangles, and for a lot less money. The potatoes were real potatoes, but at least a day old, and cold in the middle. The asparagus was cooked to perfection, but untrimmed. We would hate to put the staff out, by asking the to prep the asparagus. I am a chef and would die before, I would let these dishes out of my kitchen. When the plate goes out, you should have pride in your work and put your best efforts forward. The margins in this restaurant are fat, and the quality should reflect that. Don't break your neck to get there. This is a good place for a great restaurant, to bad hasn't happened.
25 years and never a bad meal. Staff is always friendly, food always consistent
I don’t know why this place has a good rating. Undercooked scallops, subpar cocktail, ice cold duck. Overpriced. Ambiance is nice!
Excellent hospitality! Great food at a reasonable price. If you ever find yourself in Charlotte, NC you must stop at Carpe Diem.
Great place to dine if your attending a performance or function at CPCC. The restaurant has a great atmosphere and our waiter was very helpful. The Scallops with Cherry Sauce were outstanding as was the pasta special with Bolognese Sauce. Nice Selection of wines.
Delicious!! Duck breast was wonderful!
Great Meal with Great Service!
Great taste and service.
Find food. Great service. Very expensive prices for small portions.
I came from Wilmington with my husband and another couple to see a play. We had no idea where we were going to have dinner and found this little gem. The menu had great options for all diets and everything we were served was delicious. The filet was cooked perfectly and the Monk fish was tender and juicy. I had the Falafel Waffle which was gluten free/ vegetarian and the flavors were marvelous. The service was attentive and friendly and I hope to visit again on a future trip.
Lovely atmosphere, great food, knowledgeable and friendly staff.
Food is great there, and you can't beat the half-price apps during Happy Hours.
I am astonished to see the reviews that tout the service of this restaurant. We had a very difference experience. My wife and I ate here before a Friday night event. We were seated promptly and proceeded to wait 20 minutes for a wait person to come to the table. We ordered drinks and those came relitvaley quick, but the wait person again disappeared for twenty minutes. When we finally flagged her down, we placed our order and started an even longer wait period. We both ordered steaks and they took 35 minutes to prepare. In our time waiting, the wait person did not return to the table. All in all it was a two hour time from when we sat to when we paid. The manager never visited our table to ask us about our experience and the wait person never acknowledged our long wait time. The food was good, with nice flavors and presentation, but I will never return to this restaurant based on our experience.
Absolutely fantastic and well priced. Get the fried chicken and cheese cake. Staff was very friendly!
Food Excellent....
Beautiful interior, food was outstanding. Service was a bit slow.
Impeccable wait staff and delicious food.
Visited for a birthday dinner. Had a table in a nook with birthday confetti on table. Nice touch. Ambiance is romantic and rustic. Restaurant sits on a corner so ample windows. Menu is diverse and wholesome - fresh and distinct. Black bean, kale and sausage soup, and special kale and apple salad were excellent.
horrible service
Great, creative food with excellent service.
Outstanding restaurant with excellent chef, food and service. Teresa is the best manager and will take care of your culinary needs. Also, very good wine list. Try it, you will like it I'm sure.
Great atmosphere and nice place to dine. Expected more from the food for the price but was satisfied overall.
Food was recognizable but beyond the norm and delicious. The decor is nice. Not to loud. Comfortable. Great Service. Thanks Hope. Will go again. Special treat.
I went during Restaurant Week...had an amazing salad, awesome salmon and fantastic coconut cake! I will be back!
Sat at the bar during a very busy rush and service went on like it was a peaceful day. Tremendous service you rarely see in Charlotte!
Low key, quiet atmosphere with great food and cocktails. Recipe for success.
Beautiful place and excellent service, but the food isn't up to its expectation. The steak was dry, I couldn't eat the other half portion. It must be the cook's bad day but first impression lasts forever. Too bad, it could have been a great anniversary.
Cozy atmosphere with great food and drinks
Wonderful dinner! And very nice comfortable atmosphere. Nicely done. We will be back!
Food was ok. I wouldn't say the experience has been very consistent from one visit to another. The service is also very uneven and rushed. We were interrupted every few minutes, and got the feeling the service staff just wants to turn over customers.
Best Southern fried chicken I have ever ever eaten. Call your order in and come by to pick it up. This place has nowhere to eat in. Everyone who works here specialized in cooking, not serving. Of course chicken is the main offering, but they have other offerings, including fried fish, which is also excellent.
Really enjoyed our dinner... Probably one of the best Filets I've had in a long while! Quaint atmosphere, lively staff that you can tell enjoy their jobs and working at the restaurant! Well rounded dining experience!
Great food. Did the Monday happy hour half-price apps and they were all really good.
Enjoy the atmosphere and food. Will be back!
I found this place listed on my boarding pass from Continental of all places and picked it because of the name. It sounded interesting. I called the number to make sure I had the location right (the road in front is closed for construction) and Teresa guided me in through the construction mess. The service was great with (Ellen) and several other staff came by to make sure that drinks were full and to take away used plates. It turned out to be one of the best meals I have had in a long time. I started with the house salad with a dressing that was similar to ranch but had some kick to it! Then on to one of the specials which was a filet over a bed of Yukon mashed with grilled asparagus. The seasoning was excellent and the portions were a full meal. All in price (with tip) a little more than $50 and worth every penny! Hard to imagine finding a better meal this trip. Thanks to all at the restaurant!
Excellent faires and a beautiful setting
Wow ! Too good ! This is a treat I will look forward to ( but I will need to run the calories off the next day...but it is worth it ! ). Great food ! What a delight.
Food and service were outstanding.
Great atmosphere, wonderful food
This place has a manager problem
The best Filet Mignon in Charlotte. The dishes are imaginative & delicious. Excellent service & we have never been disappointed
Last minute decision to have drinks and appetizers before a show. Had no reservation, but the hostess couldn't be more accommodating. Put four of us at a table and everything was served in a short amount of time. Great choice to begin an evening and we will definitely be back for dinner.... Bev G.
Everyone was super nice! Our waiter was very helpful. I wasn't sure which wine to buy, so he allowed me to sample some before I made my decision. I got the duck, which was cooked perfectly! I wasn't a fan of the peanut sauce they used on the duck, but it was subtle, so not a huge deal. They have a pretty nice list of wines and beers. A lot of the beers they serve are from around the Charlotte area. It is pricy, but it definitely is a fine dinning experience. Expect to pay around $100 for 2 people. Overall, it was great and I would definitely go back!
Awesome place to dine. One of the best Filets I have ever tasted. I'll definitely be back!
Great food
