The wait staff was excellent and attentive. I found it overpriced for ok food. 12$ mozzarella appetizer was 4 oddly sized 3 bite pieces. 9$ side salad was a handful of greens and 2 cherry tomatoes. I got the half chicken... which was missing half it was a 1/4 chicken half the breast was gone. Portions are small, my asparagus was not trimmed (inedible ends) and not well cooked. Wasn't impressed.

The food is really good, fresh imported from Italy.The cuisine is not 100% italian, an american maybe cannot recognize the difference but as an italian i can tell that sometimes they mix flavors that are considered a blasphemy for an italian. They still deserve 5 stars, nothing to say about it!

I get that they are trying to provide a "fancier" italian option to the Seacoast, but man does it feel like a facade. Everything feels over priced, the atmosphere isn't anywhere near intimate, and the flavor of the food isn't anything special to write about. You'll end up paying close to $16 dollars for 4 specialty ravioli and be completely underwhelmed when you get it. This place just feels like a rich, aging trophy wife's equivalent of a dive bar.

I have not eaten at the restaurant, but I have bought a lot of groceries, so this is only for the grocery side. This is a good place for specialty Italian groceries. They have especially good deli meats and baked goods, but you can find almost anything you might be looking for here, as long as it's Italian. The deli counter also makes really great sandwiches. I recommend the Italian and the prosciutto with fig, in particular. Everything here is excellent quality. The only reason I deducted a star is that I feel like it's more expensive than it should be. I appreciate that specialty stuff is going to cost more, but I think they go a little beyond what is necessary here. But bread here though - prices seem fair to me, and quality is excellent.

Not sure why there are so many complaints. Excellent service and the food was very good. The only reason why we will not be returning soon would be the lack of vegetarian options. The 4 star rating is because the homemade take home pasta sauces don't have an expiration date so your not sure when they were made or when to consume them by.

Was surprised it was empty on a Saturday afternoon. Our waitress was nice but the food was awful. I’ve been to the Salem and Burlington locations and always had a great experience. However, this one was bad. My husband’s chicken wasn’t fully cooked. Sent it back. My dish was mostly pasta with two pieces of chicken. My mom boyfriend’s pasta was not what he ordered. We complained and only received an apology. Not coming back here.

Went to the restaurant in Portsmouth NH. My wife ordered the smaller portion of the Roasted Wild Mushroom ravioli. $16 gets you 3 raviolis! Pathetic! Tastes good, but 3? I ordered the QUATTRO FORMAGGI RAVIOLI. I got the full size portion for $26. Maybe 5 or 6 ravioli! Again, pathetic! Wines and food are way overpriced. It's a chain restaurant like Olive Garden!! My hard earned cash is better spent elsewhere!! Will not be back.

Pizza was soggy and the server brought the wrong appetizer and drink. They fixed the problems, but there are some logistical issues here that they need to fix. Service should be better. The pasta was good. Good offering for both kids and adults. Plenty of space and easy to sit at big bar.

My husband and I had our wedding at Tuscan and can not say enough about how amazing Amanda is! I was worried when the original woman I was working with had left, but we really lucked out with Amanda taking over. Her experience in events, and weddings specifically, definitely showed and made the whole day go super smooth. She was always very responsive, accommodating, and kind when working with me throughout the planning. The wait staff was wonderful and the food was amazing! We couldn’t have asked for a better day.

I really wanted to like this place, but it was just a complete mess. The wine menu is horrendously long, and the food menu is too small. Ordered a meatball for an appetizer, which was roughly the size of a fist. Entree was a margarita pizza. Our server was way too talkative, and gave us a detailed description on the exact things that the chefs do in order to produce bread or cheese or whatever it was he was talking about. We were served a basket of bread prior to our meal. It came with a hunk of Parmesan cheese and honey and then a plate of oil, vinegar and olives for dipping. Oil extremely bitter. Meatball was served to us in what looked like a cooking pot. It had handles on the outside. The marinara sauce was extremely watery and the meatball was piping hot on the inside and cold on the outside, as if it had been microwaved. Pizza was served on what looked like a cutting board and it was lukewarm. On the upside, it was a clean place. Nicely decorated.

My son wanted a small wedding reception, so they chose the Tuscan Kitchen in Portsmouth. It was beautiful ! The atmosphere is absolutely elegant ! The meals were delicious, and the wait staff was so professional !! They made us feel like guests at a royal wedding. I would definitely recommend Tuscan Kitchen for any function.

This was a very nice restaurant in a busier part of town. The wait staff was unbelievably nice and energetic the entire time I was there. I went with a group of colleagues who have no dietary restrictions. The menu was great for them. I am a vegan and there were no obvious vegan options on the menu. That being said when I requested that one of the pizzas be made without cheese and just vegetables the waitress said that was not a problem and the pizza turned out great. Sometimes requesting that a meal be made vegan is met with pushback and hesitation which was not the case here. I appreciate their willingness to make something that was not on the menu and it still tasted great. I would absolutely recommend this restaurant to others and hope that in the future they are able to add some vegan options to the menu.

We held a dinner function at Tuscan Kitchen in Portsmouth NH and the staff could not have been more helpful. They spelled our company's name wrong on the menus they had prepared (a common mistake) but quickly reprinted and redistributed them when we pointed out the error. The wait staff was extremely accommodating and the room was set according to our specific requests which is unusual (unfortunately). We were so pleased that we're going to schedule some of their other restaurants for future events.

It’s very Pricey. The food? Meh. And would not accept AMEX gift cards. I’d seen the TV commercials for the Tuscan Kitchen where they show a hollowed out bowl of parmesan cheese, pasta is rolled around in it and then truffle is scraped over the pasta. It looked great and so I wanted to try this dish. So, I went to the Tuscan Kitchen on Sunday 1/6 with my son for lunch. I didn’t realize that the above is only a Tuesday night special and so I had the chicken parm instead. It was very good although a bit light on the pasta. I came back on Tuesday night (1/8) for dinner with my wife and ordered the truffle pasta dish. Let me state here that it is a small dish of pasta with melted cheese and cost $45.00. Strangely though the waiter told me it was $42.00. After seeing it I was shocked since I thought there’d be a lot more to it than simply a simple small dish of pasta. It didn’t have any truffle flavor but tasted of sage. My wife ordered a salad ($26.00) that arrived with limp and soggy lettuce and was tasteless. The added beef was fatty. The pistachio gelati desert with added shot of biscotti liquer was strong but very good. The waiter was ok. We asked for lemons for the water and they never came. He tried to give me pinot rather than the chianti that I ordered. The prices for a soggy, tasteless salad, small dish of mac and cheese, 3 drinks (2 glasses of chianti and a Sicilian spritz - $33) was $141.00. If they are going to charge these prices the food and service should be much much better. At the end, when trying to pay with my entirely valid AMEX gift cards (I just checked them online again), the waiter claimed that there was a problem with them. Not so. I wasn’t prepared to pay $141.00 (before the tip) on my debit card but that’s what I had to do. Strange that they had no problem taking my gift cards on Sunday but on Tuesday night there was a “problem.” For this level of quality and the high prices, the Tuscan Kitchen (in Portsmouth) is not worth your time or money. I find it unlikely they will be in business long at this location. Best steak salad? Agave in Newburyport or Portsmouth. Best pasta/Italian? Giuseppe’s in Newburyport.

I expected a bit more from this location but i've only been once so far. Calamari was very both good but very salty and the meat dish was not quite prepared as requested although realistically not a big problem. I will need to visit again to better determine. Wine selection was quite large and the attached market was worth strolling through post dinner. Its certainly worth checking out if you have never been before or are just looking for something without going into the heart of Portsmouth. This review is based off a single visit and should not be weighted too heavily.

Menu has so much to chose from. We had appetizers, salad, a pasta meal. Each item was beautifully presented, and delicious. Sat outside on the casual, relaxing patio. Loved it all. Went to the market after dinner and bought yummy desserts to take home. Great experience, highly recommend.

The dishes here are delightful, and they offer the option of an 'appetizer size' instead of the massive portions that come with regular main courses, which I took advantage of. My single complaint is that while the waitstaff is cheerful and keeps a professional distance, they might be spread a little thin. As the evening grew busier, our water server and even our excellent waiter fell behind. Nevertheless, we would eat here again any time.

We went on Valentine's Day which always is a busy night. There were 3 couples in our party. Our waiter was awesome and took the time to explain different items on the menu and suggested having several different appetizers verses one entree so you could sample a variety of different food. Everyone was pleased with their meals and appetizers. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was due to the very long wait between drinks, appetizers and the meal. I'm not sure if the kitchen was overwhelmed with the crowd or maybe they were under staffed. We'll definitely go back again.

Great staff and atmosphere. Service was a bit slow for a family weeknight dinner, and the calamari was poorly breaded. Half pasta portions were smaller than what you'd think of an appetizer being. The pizzas were delicious as was the fresh baked bread, so in one word, inconsistent. I will definitely give them another try however for the price they should make sure to bring the same attention to detail they have for the atmosphere to their menu.

It took an hour for our food to come out to our table. The portions were too little for the price we paid. The soda didn't have any carbonation. We told the server that it had no CO2 in it and she brought back another just as flat. The server brought the check over to the table and didn't ask if we wanted anything else. Just dropped it on the table. We will not be going back there again.

It's a beautiful place ambiance is great. Food is not. All Italian meals taste like chef boyardee. All tomato sauce tastes awful. Like with most Italian restaurants that have terrible sauce all dishes that come with sauce are terrible. If you like sauce that comes from a number 10 can and microwaved pasta you might like Tuscan kitchen. I'm surprised at the amount of business a restaurant like Tuscan kitchen does. I tried it once. I wouldn't eat there again even if it was free.

Amazing food. Everything taste very distinguished. This might be hard for people used to "Americanized" Italian food. Olive Garden is fake food, this is real, this taste like the quality food I get when traveling the world. The bolognese sauce is amazing and brings back memories of an authentic Italian experience. The breads are all phenomenal, rustic which reminds me of how they did it in days gone by. I really do not understand how anyone could complain. If you go to Italy this is what you will get. If you like American Italian you can find a chain. This is the best Italian food I have found this side of Europe. Service isn't that bad either.

Great new restaurant! They're a very authentic Italian style restaurant. Everything is made from scratch in house and the quality shows. Our waitress was great! We are 2 for 2 here. Dinner you really need a reservation, we got lucky and sat at the bar last time. Today, we lucked in to the restaurant week menu. Kitchen had an issue, but they more than made up for it. Service is excellent.

The food at this authentic Italian eatery is exquisite, but pricey. The wait staff is very professional and efficient. Had I the means and wherewithal I would be at this restaurant at least weekly. Handicap parking is conveniently located at the entrances. The pasta is all made in-house with imported Italian semolina flour. the bread is also made in house with imported Italian ingredients. Don't pass it up, it is the genuine article. Recently the owner split the Tuscan kitchen and Tuscan market. The Tuscan kitchen is still on Route 1 bypass in Portsmouth and the Tuscan market is being moved into downtown Portsmouth at 14 Market Square. This will be convenient shopping for Portsmouth residence, not so much for those of us coming from away. If you have a special event such as an anniversary call ahead and the staff will make your visit very memorable. We have not yet been let down.

My wife and I went for dinner and were not disappointed. They have an extensive wine list. Apparently, they import a bunch of food like olive oil to give it as authentic of an experience as possible. It's a fairly expensive restaurant, one of those ones where you buy sides in addition to the main dish. It's a cool ambience, and the food was rather good

Adam, our server, was great. He did a great job of telling us the special and about what he brought out for a starter. The starter was a crustini with a sage butternut squash spread and focaccia with oil and 7 yr. aged balsamic vinegar. He recommended the warn spinach salad and he was on point!! I had lobster and sauteed shrimp ravioli and my wife the wild mushroom ravioli. Everything was delicious!!!

I have been there 5 times. First time was awful, second and third times were great. 4th time the show was good, food not so much. Went back tonight and it started out good bit went down hill. I ordered a steak, rare it came out closer to medium so I sent it back second one was more fatty, lots of gristle and almost raw. The chief looked upset that the first one got sent back. Not sure if I will go back there again.

At Tuscan Kitchen, you will pay $50-60 per person (not including drinks) for a meal that is no better than what you can get at Carrabba's for less than half the price. The food is good, but not good enough to justify the prices. Many people rave about this place. I think that they are only raving because they want to justify the fact that they paid an exorbitant price for a mediocre meal.

I've lived in this part of NH for almost 18 years now and somehow never stopped in at this restaurant before the other day, and I was overwhelmingly surprised! We were seated immediately and our waitress was the definition of a friendly, helpful and informative employee! This is all just before getting our food which was absolutely delicious and served quickly but still timed well for our dinner occasion. This was by far one of the nicest and most easy going dinners we've had in a long time!

The staff and service were great. However, the food was horrendous. Chicken parm has little to no sauce, chicken was dry and pink inside. The pizza was soggy and sauce was watery with no flavor. Can’t say I will be back.

Giovani (John) was amazing. He was attentive, informative, and fun! The food was great. It was definitely an eating experience. The place is beautiful and the seating gave our party of 4 privacy. Lots of variety in flavors in every course. Loved it!

Not busy, and can see why. We've been to two other locations and were excited about it coming to Portsmouth. I ordered a different pasta than was on the menu, they got it wrong. They replaced it with the smallest portion of pasta I ordered. I could barely find it beneath the sauce (bolognese). I'm glad I ordered the meatball because there was no meat in the sauce. Our server was nice, but only apologized for the mistake. Another at our table had to send his raw chicken back. When it finally came, we had all finished eating, so he brought it home.will not be back.
