Great food! Great drinks! While I understand it was crowded, it seemed the servers did not have a well-defined standard process. Maybe they do, but because it was crowded they seem to resort to haphazardness which added to the chaos. We felt a little rushed.

Service on my last visit was below average. We had 3 different people tending to our table over the course of the lunch visit. After our food was brought to our table, we never saw our waitress again and I never received a refill on my drink that I requested. I check my credit card statement a couple of weeks later and discover that the tip charged to my card was $4 higher than what I actually tipped. I contacted the manager about it and was told that he would look into it and call me back. I never received a call back, however, my credit card company did refund me the difference via the charge dispute that I initiated. Even if it was an honest mistake, I would have appreciated a call back to explain that.

This is more of a Tex-Mex place than the other Mexican restaurants in the area. Food is good, but I have to be in the mood for it. The atmosphere is the reason we keep coming back. It make us feel like we are out of town for the night. Portions are small for the price point. I usually get the taco salad.

I liked the atmosphere and the food. The only reason I rated it 4 is the fact I wanted to take advantage of the Taco Tuesday deal ($2 tacos and half off margaritas). The waiter knew that, but offered me a few different options of tacos (that sounded more appealing) and a margarita sangria mix that wasn't part of the deal. I ordered those thinking these were discounted too. I could have double checked I guess, but I feel like the waiter knew what he was doing, and was intentionally misleading. Edit: The management is exceptional. They reached out to me right away to get the details of my experience and make sure they do everything they can to continue providing excellent service. I am very impressed and will be definitely going back.

I had a beef taco salad here during lunch with friends. It was delightful. My wife had the chicken chimichangas (which I usually don't like), and I found them to be good as well. The guac was also memorable...definitely not the Sysco green-cream like you find at most. There was a Spanish guitar player that serenaded us, which was kind of intrusive during our meal, but we gave him a tip and he moved on. In hind sight, I guess it was kind of neat that he took the time to pay attention to us...he just did it at a bad time. Anyway, the most important thing is that the food was memorable, so we will be back. Good job! (Can't speak of the service, other than to say that, as with most Mexican joints, it was quick...and that's good)..

Friendly service, nice ambiance, comfy booths. Unfortunately the food was awful. I ordered chicken fajitas that somehow came out less than 5 minutes after ordering and had lukewarm chicken with cold raw veggies. Not sure how that’s possible, but you can see the raw veggies in the pictures. For this price I would expect freshly cooked chicken and not something poorly reheated. Definitely a very disappointing eating experience.

Food was a bit of hit and miss, I shared beef tacos al carbon and a chicken quesadilla with a friend, the quesadilla was awesome and beef left a lot to be desired. We both just ended up not eating it because it was definitely not worth the calories. My first house margarita was awesome, the second was bad and I left that more than half way full. For this occasion being a girls night out for a mother of three, leaving a nearly full margarita on the table really says something. The service wasn't that great either. I asked for water three different times but never got one, but the service was really friendly. I liked the atmosphere and the little towels in the bathroom. The guacamole and salsa were good.

My wife and I had dinner there last night for the first time. We had not been previously because we had people tell us it was just OK. Well, we heard they had a new GM and that we should give it a try. We met the new GM, Stephen, and were very impressed with him. To our surprise we had known him from Char where he was a Manager. He has only been here for a month and told us that he wants to make Sombra everyone’s destination Mexican restaurant. We had steak and chicken tacos. Very good. My other half worked there until we moved to St. Louis at the end of December i can't say much for the food due to the fact were not fans of mexican food but i can say she'd never complained about her work environment or the cleanliness of the restaurant she'd always say i am blessed to work here i love this place! I can say for myself i believe the general manager was a great manager she said his voice was intimidating lol but he was an honest fair person and she genuinely enjoyed her time there so with all the rave my other half gave i give this place 5 stars you know what they say happy wife happy life her name is Nikki and she absolutely favored this place as a place of employment GREAT JOB Sombra keep up the good work and god bless

This colorful, happy place serves up an unexpected array of dishes (ribs? really? At a Southwestern TexMex joint?), and, to our pleasant surprise, delivered on the promise of a memorable meal. I had the half-rack of ribs, which were fall-off-the-bone tender, but lacked flavor apart from the sauce. Most others in our party stuck to TexMex standards, including the sangria, which was the star of the show. Service can be a bit distracted, especially when things get busy; prepare to flag folks down when you need something. Be prepared to wait if you want a good seat on weekends.Recommended.

Chips n salsa are really good here. If you go on Friday, I encourage you to try the catfish lunch. Great portion size, great value. Portions on taco combo can vary a bit but when done right, the chili glazed shrimp taco is great. Service is extremely hit or miss, just depending on who you get.

You'll be hard-pressed to find better Mexican food than this. The place is usually busy, but the service is always great. If you want plain, traditional, average Mexican food where everything is some variation of meat + tortilla + cheese, then this may not be the place for you. Don't get me wrong, it does have those things, but it puts its on twist on them and does so with a flair. They also have a great drink menu with great cocktails. Definitely check this place out if you're in the area.

Delicious Mexican (Americanized) cuisine. Their seasoned chips and carafes of salsa are always a welcome start to your meal. As you'd expect, their portions are generous, even with the shrimp. The food is always fresh and hot. They have a lot of options for margaritas, but they're mostly sweet. Since they have their own tequila, I like to skip the mixers and enjoy a nice "Resposado" straight.

I decided to get take out from this restaurant on lunch break. The food is OUTSTANDING and the restaurant itself very pleasant, clean, great ambiance. The quantity of food and it's presentation was icing on the cake! Definitely worth the money! The attitude of the young lady (Deronica) handling take out orders was exceptional, all while she was grilling tortillas, taking orders by phone, and getting orders together. (And she was handling it like a multitask master). On busy lunch hours, it's rare to find staff at any take out or drive thru that makes you feel welcome. More often than not, you feel like they see you as "more work", rushed, or even that you have somehow upset them by walking in the door. I spoke to the manager, Ken, so he would know his staff was doing an excellent job and it turns out he was just as personable and genuine. I will be back for dinner very soon. Great food, quality staff, great atmosphere, NAILED IT! :)

Our party of 5 (including 2 kids) had been seated an hour and had not received our food. It took 20 minutes of sitting to even have our order taken. I asked the hostess about it, she told the manager (so she said) and shortly after we received our food. No one apologized or even acknowledged the situation. It embarrassed me because my mom had come to visit and this is where we chose to eat.

Lunch Special is Fantastic! Chicken Chimichanga is great! The shell was crispy and the chicken was tender. Comes with a side salad. We tried the Caramel Cake + Ice Cream--DELICIOUS!! Served on "Muy Caliente" (VERY Hot) platter almost overflowing with the Butter-Caramel Sauce in which the cake is drenched!

Great atmosphere for dining with friends and family. The chips and salsa are great. We tend to eat too many chips before the meals come out (which doesn't take long at all). The staff is always friendly and management has checked on our meal and service every time we have dined here. The cheeseburger quesadilla is amazing and is a must try! There are also TVs above the bar if you're looking to watch some sports with your meal. This is a frequent dining spot for us when I'm in the area.

Food was good. As do a lot of other places they make their tamales, enchiladas and burritos way oversized. Which is great if you want to be stuffed. For me I find large ones get boring after a few bites. I don't loose interest with smaller portions served at a few of my more favorite places. They might need to work on the wait staff and general front of house ops. When using expiditors, it is imperative that assigned waiter checks with customers right after meals delivered. Not the case for my visit.

Not worth it for the money. $28 fajita for two and it wasn't but a few strips of chicken and beef. Order the same thing at other places and you have at least one fajita serving for supper. Where do these restaurants get the idea a $35 lunch for two with tip is a fair price? Won't be back.

What White people think Mexican food is. Literally didn't see one Hispanic person, and our waiter was terrible. Took the chip bowls away when they were half full, took forever to bring them back with refills. He reeked of cigarette smoke the entire time and we barely saw him. Also ridiculous prices. I understand fancy restaurants, but spend your money elsewhere

I have always raved about this restaurant at the Ridgeland, MS location due to being a frequent visitor but tonight's visit for my birthday was horrible. Sophia was the worst waitress ever. She delivered drinks that were liquid and were suppose to be frozen, she told me how they could/could not cook my steak for the fajitas, she told us we could add a small regular frozen margarita to our drink to thicken/freeze them, then she came back and said she couldn't do that, she developed an attitude when we asked for the manager, etc.

Great ambiance and service!! Has the margarita flight and somber was the best of the bunch. Went straight to the entree and ordered the shrimp fajitas. Shrimps were fresh and crush and properly grilled with the onions, green peppers, jalapeños, and zucchini. I would definitely go back again!!

Awful food. My husband couldn't even eat the tacos he ordered (and they smelled vaguely of dog food), and the nachos me and my sister split weren't even close to what I'd call nachos (which had avocado on them even though I double checked that they would before I ordered). The margaritas were way over priced and overly salty and sour and sweet all at the same time. All around not a good time. I'm not the kind of person to kick up a fuss or really leave a bad review, but this was another level of just awful. The food seemed to be cooked way ahead of time and left to sit. The waitress was sweet, but didn't seem to care that everything left the table picked at and uneaten. Take your money elsewhere.

Went there last night my food was ok. The waiter was great. But however a person in our party found chewing gum in her food. Then the waiter charged me for someone else food also after we discussed it wasn’t mine. He charged my card twice then the 3rd time refunded part of it none of the prices on my account matched what he rung my food up for. WOULD NEVER GO BACK. It was dead we were the only people in the resturant and I️ see why

Hey All We stop at Sombra for lunch and from the moment we walked in the door we were greeted with a smile and was seated with a smile our waiter name was Dave and he did an outstanding job cuz you see I have food allergies and the staff in the kitchen made my meal without the peppers so I can enjoy Mexican food we also had a dessert it was called a sopapilla it is a awesome Mexican dessert with ice cream it is a must that you try it this is a one awesome restaurant

I love coming here and my kids do too.... I love to support local.... but...... this restaurant has dropped the ball!!!!! Started with terrible service (which I could deal with) then a decline in the food quality. I used to visit this restaurant at least twice a week. Started getting cheese dip with chunks of unheated cheese, kitchen nachos with half a chicken breast on one chip, just unpleasant quality of food. This place has potential to be amazing, but sucks currently. I’ve had to leave without eating due to a waiter forgetting to put in my order.
