Honestly, what else could you want? Great food at a buffet at an unbelievable price. Be prepared for crowds at lunch, but the crowds are here since this is quality Southern food. Usually I am wary of buffets. But this food and selection is too notch, and they do a great job of keeping the trays filled. Standouts include turnip greens, butter beans, black eyed peas, Mac and cheese, fried chicken and pulled pork. Also loved the banana pudding.

I absolutely love this place. The food sticks to your soul!!! The fried fish keeps me coming back for more....Check to opening times and try to get there when the doors open. This place fills ups quick and to truly enjoy your meal, I feel you should get there early. That's my only con. So many people that kinda overwhelmed the staff. Definitely come with an empty stomach

14 dollar country style buffet. Ribs, smoked chicken, and the fried fish were cook to perfection. Mash potatoes, oh my, oh my goodness. Vegetables, is why I gave them 4 out of 5 stars. Don't get me wrong , they were good and I cleaned my plate but they needed a little something. I ran out of room for the dessert and salad bar Atmosphere was really good. Sara our Waitress " black girl " the only reason I bring up color is encase there's more than one Sara because ours was fantastic. Super friendly, checked on us several times, she was upstairs. First time visiting the restaurant, the food was excellent. But my experience was ruined by a rude customer. I saw an empty table, no bag, no food plate on the table, so I went there and sat down to eat. 5 minutes later, a black lady came over and yelled at me loud and talked in rude aggressive tone that this is her seat because she left her receipt on the table. I didnt even notice the receipt until she pointed out, and it was upside down so it looked like a trash. I immediated got up and moved my plate and utensils to leave and told her sorry and I didnt know it was her seat. But she kept aggressively yelling at me that this is her seat. I apologized and moved immediately, there was no reason for her to yell. I was visiting Mississippi and this rude lady left me a bad impression of Mississippi that people in Mississippi are rude.

Had not been in a while. Sure was glad to return. There's nothing like a good home cooked meal southern style without doing the cooking yourself. I met up with friends at promptly 10:30 am. It gets crowded pretty quickly. Its great for meetings as they do have a meeting room available but you must call ahead to reserve it. Each day is something different on the buffet. The price is $11.00. That includes tax and drink. You just may find yourself going several days doing the week.

When it comes to good southern cooking you will not,in my opinion, find any bettter. The selections are many and all are great. I have been eating here for over 20 years and never left disappointed. My wife and I enjoy eating here on a Friday or Saturday night to have our fill of their delicious fried catfish. Customer service is wonderful. I cannot find one negative regarding Mama Hamil’s.

This was a fine buffet. It's soooo popular. The line out the door was intimidating but the wait wasn't that long. There was plenty of seating upstairs. Wait staff on the ball and courteous. They replenished the food often. Large selection of salads, a few of vegetables, and meats. Lots of breads and a selection of desserts. None of the food was spectacular (but I don't eat skin off of fried chicken) as some of my co-workers thought. Comfort food exactly.

Some of the best fried chicken, excellent catfish, good barbeque, and great chicken and dumplings are some of our favorites. Don't leave without trying the cinnamon rolls on the dessert bar. I live in Louisiana but travel to Tennessee and Arkansas frequently. The food at Hamil's is so good I plan my schedule so that I can be at Hamil's at meal time. Wish they had a location closer to me but then again I already weigh enough. Stop in for lunch and you too will be looking for an excuse to be in the Jackson area.

Place is delicious every time I go frankly. Although, I have never been that huge of a fan of country food, especially if it isn’t from in town, but this place is great especially if you stick with the foods you know are good like the Mac and cheese, and lentils. Fried chicken here is real good as well, and so is the deserts. My only complaint about this place would be the crowd is always too big. If there was a way to decrease the amount of people that seem to be consistently packed into this place that would be ideal. Maybe open a new location

Visited the restaurant with 45 other ladies from Atlanta during our getaway weekend and the food at this restaurant is delicious. Hope to return someday. The service wonderful as well. The restaurant reserved tables for my crew upstairs, but some of the ladies could not walk the stairs, so they placed them downstairs. Awesome location and great parking.

Last work trip I took to Jackson, MS my client took me here to eat. I was skeptical because Buffett style eating has never been something I like. We went through the line a d the food looked great. I got the table and started to eat and wow was I surprised. The food was amazing. If you get a chance to go here do so! Treat yourself, you won't regret it!

Food was good but the setup is all kinds of backwards. It's a small buffet given the capacity and it's convenient to the kitchen but not the guests. It was crowded and I had sit upstairs. You have to go up and down a flight of stairs to go back to buffet. Then you are stepping on top of other guests and workers filling the buffet. The 3 stars are for the meats and sides which were fantastic but the desert station was skimpy and cheap.

The food is very good (Soul/Southern comfort food). Buffet style. They have a great variety of dishes including several vegetable and salad options. The only reason I am not giving them a 5 Star rating is because I think the long bench tables are to close to each other which causes people to constantly bump into you when they are going to the buffet and you to bump them when you get up.

Best decision to stumble upon this place in Mississippi while on the way to Louisiana. The food is excellent, priced fairly and service from staff was exceptional.
