I had a issue with this place. No idea if they were just having a bad day or not i am not impressed at all. I ordered my food came out in great time. Started to eat about 3 bits in the waitress brought the check and never seen her again. Maybe i wanted something else maybe i wanted somthing to go. Food was good the only reason y i got 2 stars instead of 1.

My retired mother and teen daughter went there today. Mom ordered off the Senior Menu and was very pleased to have the food not be salty. Too often, all prepared food is overly salted, which isn't good for anybody but especially seniors. Way to go!! My daughter gobbled up her eggs, pancakes and fruit, which is something since she's a picky eater. Though they said the menu was smaller, that's ok if it's the choices you typically want in a family-style American restaurant.

We ate here on Friday morning. I ordered the Western omelette, which states it's prepared with grilled onions and green peppers. I inquired with our waitress and asked her if the onions were truly grilled/sautéed or what. Raw onions make me ill, so clarification was important. She assured me that she'd tell the cook to make sure the onions were caramelized. We waited ... for ever ... for our food to come, like 45 minutes, and there wasn't but a few other tables with people. When our food arrived, the waitress said the sautéed onions took a long time. Ok, well, then how is this dish normally prepared? With onions that are tossed on the grill for a few seconds to blacken them and then served with a mostly raw center? So why not cut up 3 onions when you open in the morning, sauté them, and have them ready to go (along with the green peppers) and when a customer orders the Western omelette, all you have to do is heat up the already cooked veggies. Simple. I love crispy hash browns, but ours were served almost burnt. We each had the flapjacks (pancakes), and they were served almost burnt on one side, well done on the other side, and they had a dough consistency in the middle (indicating the center wasn't cooked through). These pancakes were not good. It appeared that they made the pancakes and the hash browns way too early and kept them warm while they were waiting for the onions to cook. Ugg. Server was pleasant and apologetic, but really ... you advertise that you serve your Western omelette with grilled onions and peppers (implies that they're cooked through), so that is what I was expecting. My omelette was actually pretty good, but the rest of the food wasn't. Food: 3 Service: 4 (they should have advised that it was going to take forever to cook the food as advertised). Building: 2.5 (it's an old Country Kitchen or Perkins - something like that). Location: 2.5 Cleanliness: 3.0

My friend and I visited this resteraunt on a Saturday morning around 10:00 am. We were seated promptly by a polite hostess. The booth we were sat at was nice and big. Our waitress arrived quickly and took our order. The food arrived hot and fresh. I ordered basted eggs, ham, hashbrowns, white toast, flapjacks and an orange juice. The eggs were cooked perfectly, the ham was a thin slice but still tastey. I wasn't a fan of the hashbrowns. It seemed like I was tasting the oil too much. The flapjacks were hands down the best I've ever had. Crispy on the outside and a touch of vanilla on the inside. I was in love! Add a touch of syrup, and you've got desert. The orange juice was refreshing and tied the meal together nicely. A perk, at least for me... was that this restaurant had Cherry Coke on the fountain.Cherry Coke is hard to come by where I am from. So without hesitation I took a to go cup of Cherry Coke. The only recommendation I would have is to upgrade the white sandwich bread (toast) into sourdough, country white or oat bread and top it off with some real home made raspberry jelly....OMG...this would put the breakfast at another level. Delicious!!!

Great food! Great staff! Only down fall was the owner yelling at staff in the window of kitchen for screwing up an egg order when the were really busy. Not a big deal and not necessary to get on the staff where the customers can hear. That's the only reason I gave 3 stars would of been 5 otherwise.

Best breakfast, just like homemade, seriously can't get better than this restaurant. The owner is so kind, they are changing the flapjack recipe but I think they will only get better (if possible). If you haven't tried yet you must try asap. The whole menu is delicious the burger n fries is in a class of its own just like the old a&w drive ups just delectable. Now I'm hungry!! Staff are quick and there's a good ol' home feel to the restaurant they're happy to greet ya an see ya go. My entire family goes every Sunday after church

Service was fine. Had the western omelette, but the cook should have caramelized the onions and green peppers, and evened out the omelette so that the onions, peppers, ham, and cheese was distributed evenly throughout the omelette rather than cheese on one side and the rest on the other.

Country kitchen is one of the last restaurants in the area where the owners and employees know you by name and greet you with a smile and genuinely care how you are doing and what your up to. The service is fast and friendly. The variety of food and the quality is second to none. Along with reasonable prices makes it the last of a dying breed of family owned restaurants. Breakfast or dinner you, will leave feeling full and satisfied.

They try, but at the end of the day, nothing special. Glorified Perkins. Burnt hash browns with only old oil flavor. We had 3 guests in our party, our food did not arrive together. Coffee was in thermos, but arrived luke warm. No refills offered. They pick your jelly packets for you, so if you don't want nut butter or marmalade... better just pre-ask for strawberry, they guard that like gold.

The menu offers a country home feel. Wide variety of simple and delicious plates. Just because it's simple doesn't imply that it isn't impressive. From light and fluffy pancakes that are the absolute best to simple burger and fries every bite will be outstanding. Great place for any reason. Bring the kids or the the grandparents everyone leaves this place full and happy. Ownership can be found daily, shaking hands making the locals feel welcomed and appreciated, also can be found giving the tourist excellent pointer about the area. The staff works well together and it shows.

This restaurant has decent food and service. It's very much like Perkins but with a smaller menu. They either don't have a lot of employees or were short staffed the day we went; one lady was being hostess and waitress for the whole place. She wasn't very friendly but I can't really blame her, seeing how busy she was. The waffles were good, eggs not very good at all. Overall an okay experience and we agreed we wouldn't go out of our way to return.

The food and the service was good. The waitress was very nice and timely. However, the manager/owner was incredibly rude and disrespectful! A group of us, family that sees each other once every few years (if that), were there eating. My husband and I have a child in a car seat, and the restaurant had no slings, so we flipped the high chair over in order to use the bottom as a holder (as we have seen being done at many other places). We had no idea that this would be an insurance issue for the restaurant, but in the middle of our meal the manager/owner came over and chastised us for being an issue to his insurance. He was loud enough that most people in the restaurant knew what was going on. It was embarrassing and frankly it put a damper on what little time we had with our family. I understood after he came over why he wanted us to stop using the high chair in that way, however that doesn't excuse his behavior. Anyone with decency would have came over calmly and quietly to explain this to us in a polite manner. He did the compete opposite for that. Not only that, but he reprimanded the hostess in front of the entire place for letting us do it. That was completely inapropriate, especially since she had nothing to do with it. I felt bad for the young hostess. So, if I ever find myself needing to get breakfast in Baxter, Minnesota again it won't be there.

Very poor meal for the price. Meat was pink, definitely undercooked. Dinner will was doughy, baked beans were firm and tasted undone. I ordered water as my beverage which was served in sucha small glad it was always empty. I discreetly contacted the cafe via messenger to tell them of my unpleasant experience. All I got was defensive excuses. The response to my water glass being continuously empty was 'you should have asked for a carafe'. I don't need to ask for a carafe at other local eating establishments. I was told the beans were firm because they came from a can. This is not an establishment I would consider for catering any party I would have.
