Cayla was the event manager for my parent's 50th wedding anniversary party which was held on a boat. First the good parts: the team had a significant setback when one of the staff was injured during prep, so Cayla and the chef had to do all of the work/serving without an expected third person to help. They did remarkably well given the circumstances. The guests by and large enjoyed the food and thought it was well done and tasty. There was more than enough of everything for the guests and no one left hungry. The not-so-good part: I had specifically requested some of the sandwiches be gluten free and this was not provided only gluten free crackers for the cheese--which were not labeled and therefore everyone ate them rather than leaving them for those who needed gluten free items. Also one of the appetizers that I was told was gluten free (the risotto cakes) were not. I also did not find the presentation of the tea sandwiches to be that appealing. Finally, there was a miscommunication around the cake which I provided--however, I expected them to provide plates and forks. I was never told this was my responsibility so everyone had to eat cake with their hands. While I would generally say that Lavishly Dunn did a good job and the food was fine (except not as I expected), I think there were some real issues with the delivery and communication. I would give them another chance if the party I was throwing was on land, and I would be much more careful to make sure that everything we discussed was in the contract for the event, rather than assuming that since we talked about it, things would be done that way.
