The five stars that I am giving here is for their pies. Every one that I tried was at least as good or better than any pie that I have eaten anywhere in the world. But the wild Maine blueberry was my favorite
Love going to Sarah's for a hot cup of soup or chowder!!!
Disappointed.....no options for clams, shrimp or scallops. Found hair in sandwich lettuce and on French fry dish...which were cold! No refills offered for drinks.
Very bland soups! Worst “lunch” place I’ve ever been to I think but it has a lovely view so I gave it 2 stars. Maybe their other food is good but I was very disappointed. They mine as well have called the haddock chowder potato soup and my husband said his chicken soup was just tasteless.
Everything was outstanding, got my lobster roll I have been craving for 2 days can't wait to eat my butter cream cake
Seafood was a bit overcooked and tough. A very long wait to get the food...our waitress was too spread out in the restaurant to stay attentive to needs.
I had an excellent lunch of Creamy Vegetable Soup and the Seasonal Salad with Raspberry Dressing - Yum
Real great local place to eat. Friendly and reasonably priced. I go for the fish chowder because I am gluten-free and it is hard to find a quick lunch.
Yum.... and our server was amazing with Nico
Good food, unique soup and bread bar
Absolutely love this family owned restaurant
Better lobster roll than reds eats and homemade everything. I mean, why would you stand outside in the blazing hot sun on the side of a busy road with a stupid umbrella for anything? SARAH'S rules.......and they have great cake. And A/C. And no road dirt in your food. Peace out.
Loved it best cheese cake around
Across from Red's lobster shack
Went to Sarah's with a large-ish party. We had 7 people, and were split into 2 separate tables. We were seated fairly quickly, and met by a friendly waitress soon after. After placing our order we waited a long time for our food to come out. After almost an hour, the food finally came out. Except it didn't. The waitress realized she made a mistake an took the food back quickly. So we waited some more. Finally, our orders came out. 2 of them were wrong. We could have understood the long wait as it was a big group, but the orders being wrong after waiting all that time was frustrating. I don't know if we'll give Sarah's another chance as we are not in the area very often anyway, but it was still a disappointing experience. Food was just okay. Nothing special, but by no means terrible.
Food was okay. service was not. reacted aggressively and negatively to questions about suitability of food for celiacs. (much more extreme then gluten intolerance) When it was determined that the kitchen was not willing / able to take the required precautions, we were told that rather than let one member of our party eat rice crackers, she would have to leave the restaurant. This is literally the only place that this has been an issue.
Sat in the bar and the bartender was our waitress, food was excellent, service was excellent.
Paddock chowder the potatoes a little over cooked, maybe because of the warmer the chowder was in. French fries were mushy.
Good food and good people
Great fish chowder and desserts!
Food is always delicious. We come back every year on our trek up the Maine coastline.
The all you can eat soup bar is awesome. The haddock chowder is holy moly awesomely fantastic
Love the soup and bread bar. Excellent haddock chowder every day with 2 other homemade rotating soups. Desserts are wonderful too.
Nice little place, crab cakes were decent.
Bland, overpriced. Cocktail was really good though, and so was the service. Avoid the 28$ lobster quesadilla.
We stopped in looking for a place to sit on the patio and enjoy the sights and smells and sounds of the waterfront. We were however encouraged to sit inside due the the hot weather. Honestly being a former waitress for 8 years at a place with a patio, I took that as code for the waitresses probably do not want to be out there. I get it. In retrospect I wish I said I wanted to be outside. They had adorable little picnic tables with umbrellas and it was only 84 out (not that hot IMO). I would like to say our waitress was very attentive and very friendly. Can’t remember her name but she is great at her job. Thank you again for wonderful service. The crab cakes were very good and the nachos weren’t too bad either. It was very hard to enjoy my meal inside however due to being trapped in with numerous flies. Sometimes thats a hard thing to battle in a restaurant. Just that time of year. Despite that, I could see stopping here with my family on our way through Maine again. On the patio.
Great American food
My husband and I stopped here in the way to Boston. The food was some of the best we have had this trip. We really enjoyed the Haddock chowder and crab cakes. The service was excellent as well. Great lunch right on the water!
Never had a mediocre meal here. Great food, great service. Save room for dessert. All yummy stuff.
Over priced but food is good
Great place to stop and eat while traveling through! Would and breads were outstanding!
Expensive and had a lot of flies. The food tasted good but for the price they should work on the fly problem.
Loved the mashed potato pizza!!
Excellent customer service! Great food and drinks!
I was surprised by how delicious the food was. I honestly expected it to be a tourist trap and was glad to be proven wrong. Very authentic and homemade. The soup, fries and sandwiches were homemade. Prices for the food was very reasonable also. Would definitely go back.
Try there potato pizza! so delicious.
I liked the atmosphere and service was really good. Very disappointed that they didn’t have even ONE local beer. Crazy really. Food was good tho!
yummy soup and bread bar(freshly made right there)
Love the soup and bread buffet! It makes for a very quick, inexpensive, hearty lunch! The service there is always friendly too. According to the waitress, the bread is made fresh daily, and is tastes it.
Great soup and bread bar!! Loved it, will come again. Quant town.
Good haddock sandwich. Very pricey
Went to redeem a gift certificate. Above average fish chowder and a very unusual presentation of a turkey club.Tasty and filling. Casual and nifty atmosphere. Go now guaranteed you will have a long wait when the tourists arrive
We stop in annually during our anniversary week for the classic haddock melt. Always fresh and amazing, friendly service and a fun view of lobster shacks, boats and buoys.
Over priced, had charges on bill that shouldn't have been there (they fixed them), cold foods, soup had chunks of foreign items in it. Otherwise the same as any small town restaurant.
Good food, large portions but slow service.
We had been by Sarah’s many times, but just not at a time the we normally have a meal. Today we managed to get there just in time for a lunch. It was some of the best seafood that we have had. The price was very reasonable and the portions were a good size we will stop in again for sure when in the area at the right time. The sandwich with out the fries is a Haddock Club, the other one is a Crab Burger with Swiss, the bun is a whole wheat.
Good food, good staff, but bummed they give no notification if closed for a storm & whatnot..
Seven dollars for day old soup. The Christmas decorations are still up in April. Ehhhh..
The staff are very polite an nice but the cooks did a terrible job I had the haddock chowder except there was very few slivers of fish through it an my haddock casserole had no kind breading or batter it was an over cooked piece of haddock drowned in a large amount of butter with a house salad with a side of house ranch that was made with Apple cider vinegar an needless to say I will not be returning
Their haddock chowder is to kill for! Their seafood is always good, and service is good even when the house is packed.
Never had a bad experience here. The food is awesome
The waitress Arianna was terrific, awesome and efficient. My husband had the soup and bread buffet he had the fish chowder and 3 kinds of bread. I had the loaded nachos without the guacamole we both had all we wanted of those and still more left for supper!! My husband had the pumpkin pie I had the cream puff OMG soooo good!!!!!
Good food and drinks. View is wonderful
Save room for dessert! Keep an eye on the dessert cabinet before you order so you can leave room for the awesome desserts. Absolutely great place to eat after being out on the water. Also the soup bar is delicious and perfect for a fall day.
Great location, Services Atmosphere, FOOD !!
Excellent food. Beautiful view!
Beautiful view complimented by the delicious variety of food that left us feeling happy. Went with a picky group but they were all singing praises and more than satisfied with the portions.. We got dessert to go because we knew we'd be wishing we had it later!
I love the "wheat" Haddock calzone.
Friendly service amazing food, but the didn't have any crown royal and the ran out of Jack Daniel's while I was there. Other than that it was good.
I found this place completely underwhelming. Across the street from the Wiscasset icon Reds, this restaurant offers over priced food that is mediocre at best. Clearly catering to the traveler who may not know better, I would suggest that traveler keep traveling.
This is a good solid 4 star cafe. Has a nice soup special everyday.
We have eaten at Sarah's several times and have never been disappointed. Good food, great service and yummy desserts.
Friendly service, good views of the river. Food was good. Can't say it was great. We did not get the soup bar, but many others did.
Great food and personable service in a cozy setting. The desserts in a glass case leave you drooling. The soup and bread bar is always a popular choice.
Good food and a nice atmosphere. Nice view of water.
Awesome pizza, friendly waitress and nice atmosphere
Excellent food, beautiful setting, prompt and courteous service with a full menu. A Wiscasset must do!
Soup and bread bar were delicious and the service was outstanding! We never miss a trip to Sarah's when visiting Maine!
Cute little place with good food.
Must of hit it on a bad day. Service was pretty slow and the menu wasn't of my liking. But I would still recommend. I'm kind picky
This is one of those places that you have to visit when you're in town. The soup and bread deal is delicious and affordable. The view is also breathtaking.
Always takes a while to get food but its always good.
Love the soup bar
Great chowdah!
Great food and staff!
Sarah's is one of my favorite Maine restaurants.
I always love this place. 1 of my faves. They have a chowder soup buffet everyday. Other than paddock chowder it changes daily. Also comes with amazing bread, rolls choices.
This is an awesome place. Great pizza, daily soups and exotic Maine cake
Seated not given utensils. Food arrived- had to ask for utensils. Calzone-runny and barely warm. Burger-done but processed. Oven baked fries-cold, no flavor, not crispy, limp.
Always good. Always friendly and you can't break the bank here. Prices have been afforded by locals as they are open year around. Cheesecake is the best. N.Y. can't compete with this.
Visited here from Canada. Really nice atmosphere, relaxed but attentive to us. Food excellent, would certainly make a point of coming back if I was in Maine again.
Nice little cafe next to the water. Tons of options, everything we got was delicious. Typical cafe food at a fair price. Would definitely recommend.
Favorite place to eat in Wiscasset.
Extremely slow for lunch on a Sunday afternoon.. waited over 1 hour for food after ordering! Also, prices very expensive for a casual eating ace for.lunch. won't be back!
I always stop at Sarah’s on my way to Boothbay. Good food. Great staff.
I enjoyed the vegetarian calzone and my mother her Reuben.
Beautiful view and patio! You definitely pay for the view as the food was just so-so. I didn't have their seafood though, and that seemed to be the popular choice. There arent many options for vegetarians or people with food sensitivities, but it is worth it for the view and location.
Excellent luncheon fare at a reasonable price
Waited 30 minutes for our food and not once did our waitress stop to check on us. Didn't even ask us if we wanted a refill on our drinks. We had to stop her to ask how a refill and then got a look like we were bothering her. When our food finally came out I was handed a wet plate. Again got a look when I asked for a dry one. Seriously not cool.
Awesome homemade food thats not fried yummy
Fantastic, as usual. Exquisitely prepared foods, served just the way they should be Thanks so much, Rheanna!!!!!!!!!!
It's our tradition!
The haddock chowder was basically mashed potatoes and pieces of mushy fish. It wasn't fluid at all. When I asked if it was normal I was told yes. They ran out of the chowder and I was told it would take about 5 minutes for the kitchen to warm more up. After nearly 10 minutes I was told it would take at least 10 to 15 minutes to warm more up. We ended up leaving since our already prepared food was getting warm. We left and as soon as we got home we found a meal missing. I drove all the way back to retrieve the meal and when I finally got home my meal was cold. I also found our Cesar salad dressing did not taste right, a hamburger was cooked well done and was dried out instead of being medium rare, and the vegitable soups lacked any taste. The girl at the register was wonderful though. She gave us generous slices of cake for the initial issue with the soup. The reviews were good for this restaurant and I was very surprised how bad it was. Maybe an off night?
Wonderful restaurant in center of Wiscasset, ME with tables and booths inside plus tables on balcony, all overlooking the route 1 bridge and the harbor. Mid priced menu. Best deal is the fish chowder or soup of the day with homemade breads. Also have a very dark bar area . Limited free parking on the street
Good food, great service.
Good food, great people.
Sorry to say much poorer since we were here two years ago. Extremely slow getting the food. Reuben not even close...restroom out of order. Too bad. We arrived near noon....So I guess you will need to wait nearly an hour for a salad and a Reuben sandwich because the owner says they make from scratch... well be warned ....slow process.
Slow but good food, great view of the town and water.
Food is always good
good views, mediocre service, and poor food on this visit. bread was burned yet still doughy on the inside on both sandwiches we ordered. in 6 days in maine, this was the worst meal we ate, but the views were nice!
Great food and people
Food was delicous. Brought two desserts home. Absolutely fabulous.
Love the haddock chowder! The Bonnie Butter layer cake is also fantastic. Worth the stop.
They have awesome chowders and other food. Nice view overlooking wisscasset bridge and the water. Would recommend
VEGETARIAN friendly, which is rare in Maine. You meat eaters can also enjoy an amazing meal. Your friend can have the lobster roll, and you can have delicious, homemade vegetarian food. They always have a vegetarian soup included. Friendly wait staff, reasonable prices, and an amazing view.
Great crab cake salad and our usual server was charming as always
Pat excellant\
The homemade rolls are amazing!!
Food is very good but pricey
Great food, one of my favorite places
Downhome New England fare served with friendly faces. The views are spectacular and it's located right on the river in historic downtown Wiscasset.
Good food but a bit pricey
Ignore those places with long lines for lobster rolls. This place is perfect every time. Starting as a pizza place, Sarah's knows their breads, and makes all their own. Satisfying for those in your party that want the seafood experience, but also delivering great chowder, soups, sandwiches, burgers, pizza, and calzones. Did I mention they make all of their own bread (and dough)?
Had the Crab Cake burger out on the deck for lunch...Excellent food and cant beat the view..
Always love the haddock chowder and variety of breads!
Food was good
Best calzones around.
Great bakery restaurant with excellent soup and bread combo deals. Good view of the river as well from the outdoor seating area on the deck.
Had to remind waitress that I ordered a salad. Food is great and she was pleasant., though.
good food, service was very slow.
SOUP Need I say more !!
I really love the Greek Whale boat and pizza. My wife says the Lobster is nothing special.
Very nice place..great food great atmosphere and great service!
Save room for desert, it is worth it! Big selection of pies (real Maine blueberries), cakes and sweet things. The haddock was very fresh and tasty too.
I love Sarah's. I have eaten here at least twice (often times 5 times or more) a week for the last 15+ years. Food is excellent and the lobster roll puts Red's to shame (I promise). However, expect to spend 30 mins waiting for your food. This is a great locals restaurant.
Down home comfort food from Maine served by a loyal and local staff. What is not to love about Sarah's. I hear she has been in business for over 30 years and is still very hands on in her kitchen. Love love love
It was not as good as I remembered. Still a good place with good food.
Some nice outdoor seating and good standard fare make this a good place to stop if you're in Wiscasset and are hungry. Certainly far better than the way-overrated Red's across the street.
My family of 5 stopped in on a Saturday night, it was understandably busy and we were willing to wait the 45 mins we were told to be seated. Sadly, it took much longer than we were originally told, and all the while we sat waiting, we were staring at mulitple empty tables and booths. We never even ate there because we were still behind others on the wait list and they closed at 8:30 so when (politely) asked at this point, they couldn’t even guarantee us a table. We wasted the evening sitting for nothing when we could have eaten elsewhere. Very disappointing, won’t bother with them again.
Very nice restaurant. Friendly staff. Nice tourist area too.
Food was meodicre, service was below par. After serving us, the waitress never returned. I would have liked my drink refilled, a condiment to improve the flavor of my food, and a little bit of attention. I did make eye contact with our waitress a couple of times, but by the time I was able to signal to her to come over, she looked away as if not wanting to be bothered. It seemed like the general theme of the restaurant, as something similar happened when I tried to flag another waitress. "Here's your food, now leave us alone." After finishing, and waiting more than 10 minutes with empty plates, I sought out the cashier to ask for a to go box and our bill. She was able to get my waitress to come to our table. The menu options were not bad, but seemed pricey for what they were. The place across the street was packed and had a long wait, as Sarah's was not, and did not. Should have gotten the hint from that observation, and now I know why.
Excellent Haddock Chowder and my meal was excellent. Live music on saturday dinnertime.
Great food. Huge selection. Wonderful soups and bread. Great salads. All around a great find.
One of my favorite places to dine, friendly atmosphere. The Cabin Girl is a must to order, delicious!!
Very nice view. Good service, good food and cool place to stop and eat something. Delicious soups.
The food was AMAZING! The service? Not so much. After we were seated, we sat without drinks for quite a while. After ordering, again, a bit of a wait. No one at any point asked how we were doing or the like. And it was storming. They weren't very busy. A little effort goes a long way.
Tried their pizza for the first time and was not disappointed.
Food..music..wait staff...view.... all excellent
Good pub fare type good.
Sarah's, as always has the best soup bar for lunch or dinner appetites. Fast, simple lunch that satisfies even finiky eaters.
We waited over an hour for our food, and the place was mostly empty. Food was mediocre at best. Felt like they just weren’t even trying to be a good place. The wait staff was really nice though. What a shame for this awesome location to be such a flop.
Great food and view...overshadowed by Reds across the street. Waitress insisted we sit inside. ITs Maine i dont want to ever be inside! Pumpkin cheesecake is worth any drive! Picture is from a block away...views are amazing.
Food was excellent, service was horrible
Good food, service, price and no waiting in line. We sat on the deck w/picnic tables and umbrellas enjoying the nice view, light breeze and relaxed atmosphere.
I used to come here as a kid all the time and liked it, but I recently went back with my mom and we were both disappointed. They opened half an hour late and had multiple people including us standing outside waiting. Then there were flies buzzing around our table which was unpleasant. Our food wasn't good at all. The pizza I ordered was so covered in oil and grease, I couldn't eat it. My mom's sandwich was dry and bland. Our waitress was very nice and apologetic and didn't charge us for my pizza, so that's why I gave them two stars at least. It could've just been an off day but it was disappointing none the less
Overlooking river. Huge menu from pizza to a variety of sandwiches, lobster rolls and entree's. Parmesan crusted haddock was moist and delicious. Soup and homemade bread bar. Fried and baked seafood. Full bar.
Food Is Good My Favorite Is Chicken Tenders
It's spooky to have dinner at a restaurant, pay in cash, and have Google ask you about it 3 hours later.
I tried the Haddock Chowder for the first time and loved it; as well as, the lobster roll. Debbie had the Calzone and didn't like it. But over all the experience was good.
The soup bar was, as always, delish!
Bringing home dinner always a great option.
Lobster Pizza. You cannot just pass by this place and not stop in to try a lobster pizza (the Windjammer Gourmet is what they call it I think). This was a great place to stop by for lunch in Wiscasset! Excellent food and service, a great casual joint for lunch with views of the water! Definitely worth checking out!
I'm no longer able to pass by this restaurant, no matter what time of day. The home made bread and soup bar is a meal into itself, the nachos are super, even the mini isn't mini. Great seafood.
Good food and personal service.
The lobster roll was too pricey and rather flavorless, they ran out of rye bread for the Ruben.
Come here all the time....great food and desserts. However they close at 8pm and tonight we came in at 745, the hostess sucked her teeth and was rude. Then our waitress disappeared for 20 minutes and I had to go to the bar myself to get a drink. Really dissatisfied tonight.
After waiting in line at Reds for 25 minutes and the line not moving we walked over to Sarah's. The meal was great. I had a Haddock and crabcake sandwich with cheese that was fantastic. She had a crabcake sandwich. But $50 for lunch is not reasonable.
A pleasant surprise on an unplanned visit. The food was tasty and well prepared. My only complaint is that the booths are too small and the chairs feel too delicate to sit on.
