We ordered. Pizza for my daughter was good. Salmon saute was bad, my teenager wouldn't eat it, I tried it and couldn't eat it. The stuffed baked shrimp was unsatisfactory. My fettuccine with shrimp and scallops had mini salad shrimp and cut up scallops (should be whole scallops). The food was not seasoned, bland and tasteless. OVER PRICED. We will NEVER go back.

I am so impressed with the manner in which Dan, the manager, handled a little issue we experienced on our last visit. Our group has always chosen Brunos for our dinner outings because they have the best Italian food in the state of Maine. Nice to know they really care about customer service and customer satisfaction also. Can't wait to go back again! If you've never tried the eggplant you should. It's amazingly good

Its super good. Some stuff is outrageously expensive for the amount you get. They have a burger thats huge and a huge side of ff for 10 bucks. Hubs had chicken parm for like 18 bucks and was tiny. A hand fulp of pasta and a small piece of chicken. Was looking for something hearty. Tasyed yum but nothing extraordinary. I had a meatball sub there once and it was sooo good and huge. My burger this past time was okay but tasted old. Like the burger was going bad. The server did check back but when he did i wasnt quite sure if it was my taste buds or not and when my husband tried it he agreed with me. So the server didnt come back until much later and i said heck it and ate it anyway. I didnt get sick or anything. The server was slammed in the dining room. I think he had what seemed like all of the tables in the room the tree was in. So after the initial greeting, which he was very professional, we didnt really see him much after. Dress up for dining room and casual for pub side

If you are reading restaurant reviews to assist with making a decision on where to dine or where to book your next private banquet, trust me, you will not regret choosing Bruno's Restaurant and Tavern! We’ve had extremely positive experiences with Bruno's in both the dining room as well as with their banquet and catering services. The service is amazing; the staff is friendly, knowledgeable and helpful. The ambiance is comfortable, inviting, yet very classy. The food is absolutely wonderful, from preparation to presentation. The Chicken Marsala is my personal favorite. During our family event in the banquet room, everyone was discussing how much they loved everything they tried and how pleased they were with the service and venue. Bruno's is definitely one of our family’s favorite restaurants.

Arrived at 540 on a Saturday, well before the rush and was immediately brought water and menus. Waited another 10 to get drinks, which the alcoholic one was wrong, and another 20 to put our orders in. We sat and waited for 1 hour to complain our order hadnt come out. People had already arrived after us, ate and left. The manager then told my mom she was being rude for complaining and being angry and told us the food was on its way out, so we waited another 10 and got up to leave. They stopped us and said they would package it up and it was finished. We still were made to pay half the cost. Just got home and bit into the 2 burgers which are completely raw ground beef and the mushrooms in the pasta arent even cooked. Im sure it would have been atleast another 10 minutes in restaurant for us to be served since they just packed our uncooked meals to go. Not pleased and wont return.

Wish there was a 4.5 star option. Pros: draft beer selection is awesome Appetizers are great (fried ravioli is to die for) Portion sizes are good and the quality is outstanding Clam chowder is easily the best in the area (seriously) Cons: the mozarella on my sandwich wasn't melted at all, it was a chicken cutlet sandwich so it was quite jarring to bite into this hot sandwich and have 2 cold slimy pieces of mozarella. The staff was friendly if maybe understaffed, I went at a pretty normal time and I saw our waitress 3 times. Once to get drink and food order, drop off food and drink and to drop off/pick up bill. A refill would have been nice but it looked like she was busting her butt just to keep up.

The Fisherman’s Lunch IPA was my favorite. If you can’t decide which beer to get ask for a taste. Our waitress was Fun, Fast & Good. Wicked Fun!!!

We've been to Bruno's several times. We are spoiled, having just returned from Italy. We had reservations at Vivo's in Bridgton to celebrate my birthday, but ended up being closer to Portland at dinner, so we switched to Bruno's. We met some close friends, who also enjoy Italian food and we had a nice meal. We LOVE the fact that they make their own pasta fresh daily! The sauce is a bit plain - portions larger than they need to be and the salads are crisp & fresh. Always see folks we know there - so that speaks well for this restaurant - there's always a crowd on both sides too!

Wow! Went to dinner here for first time ever tonight. Sooo impressed. The food was incredibly delicious. You can tell everything was made from scratch as nothing lacked in flavor. The fried mozzarella and calamari were our starters, both cooked to perfection! My family and I all tried a different entree, each one was incredible! Desserts and cappuccino were amazing. Service was friendly, prompt, and on point. Atmosphere was great, loved the open style kitchen. We will definitely be back!!

Well after our appetizers were gone which ended up putting us behind schedule for our next stop. Overall - good, though. We will go back.

A Portland Classic! Bruno's has been a staple for Italian Food! Hadn't been in years, so it seemed to be a perfect choice after a Bob Marley show. 9pm on a Wednesday night and the owners were on site as always. We were seated immediately and our server was right there. We ordered drinks and some Fried Calamari and Mozzarella Pomodoro for appetizers to share. The apps came out very quickly but our server was wanting us to order our entrees immediately. We accommodated and ordered dinner, but asked him not to fire them too quickly . Our salads were out in minutes, I asked him again to slow it down. The homemade dressings we chose (Blue Cheese and Poppy Seed) were wonderful. Unfortunately we only had 2 bites before our dinner was at the table. So we skipped eating our apps. We had a few bites of salad and then jumped into our dinners: Ravioli Verde and Chicken Marsala. The in-house made ravioli with a super silky ricotta filling and perfect sage butter was amazing. I wanted to hold each piece on my tongue just to celebrate the flavor. The Chicken Marasala was so tender and piled high with mushrooms and just the right amount of sauce. But just as we started enjoying our meals, we already had take out boxes on the table. Our server was definitely in a hurry .... we finished our entrees, boxed up our apps and I quickly asked for 2 cannolis to go. The check was on the table so fast that we were uncomfortable, so we took our boxes and left. THAT IS WHEN THE LIGHTBULB WENT OFF..... our server should have told us that the kitchen closes at 9:30 Had we known, we would have just had a drink and an app. The food is AMAZING but I dislike being hurried.

This a great place to bring someone on a date. The cusine is top of the line. Although they may appear a bit slow, I believe it is because they cook the food everytime it is ordered rather than having it prepared. The fried mozzerella is to die for. The chicken piccata is also amazing. The meatballs are soft and flavorful. The prices are fair considering the quality and amount of food.

I expected to be full from a $20 plate of Asparagus Raviolis but there were only a few raviolis in a shallow dish of sauce. The sauce was delicious but the ravioli's edges were chewy almost like they had been frozen and thawed.

Bruno's is absolutely fabulous for Italian American Cuisine. Everything from Ricotta cheese stuffed shells to Pasta Primavera, Bruno's has it all. There is a full wine list to complement every dish perfectly, and the perfect cocktail for any palette. You may find something in the Old Port that's as good as Bruno's, but you certainly won't find better.

I don't know where to begin. The beer selection was lacking. The waitress couldn't really tell me what they had on tap and when I settled on a bottled beer, they were out of it. So I ordered a mixed drinks of which my 10 year old granddaughter could have made better. Then we ordered. The butternut squash ravioli appetizer was swimming in olive oil but the blue cheese dressing on my salad was good. We waited about 45 minutes for our entrees and by then I was so full of bud light cause I figured they couldn't screw that up that I couldn't eat. The pork shank I'd ordered was drowned in onions and peppers. My husband's fish he ate cause he was starving. We will NEVER go back there even if we got a gift to do so. Brunos, our first and LAST visit

Brunos perfectly blends two sides of the building. One side is upscale dining and neat tables and the other side feels like an old school gangster pub with clean leather, dim lighting, and lots of laughs. You'll love it! Remember to make reservations on busy holidays and Saturday nights!

Food was amazing, meatballs were absolutely delicious,we shared the appetizer, I had a calzone that was the best I've ever had, but next time I'll have it with meatballs inside..mummy We were a party of 8, everything was delicious, no one had a bad word to say except for the service, unfortunately we caught our waitress at the end of her shift an she was hard to find when she was there. For some reason the service is much better on the bar side compared to the dining room side. Doesn't matter the food was good enough that we will all be going back soon.

Clearly a great place to hang out, watch a game and enjoy some comfort food and a beer in the tavern. The place was packed and the owner/managers were plenty visible. The food and service were a bit uneven (great salad and sides, underwhelming main), and the wait was 2x what was quoted. Go if you're not in a rush.

Chicken parm was chicken nuggets with oddly sweet tomato sauce. Garlic bread was thouroughly burnt. Cannoli had just a dab of filling at each end and empty in the middle. Salad was iceberg lettuce core with a house vinagrette that turned out to be a cup of oil. Sat and waited for my take out order and watched employees hang out in the dining room. Likely the cook who let the garlic bread burn. Really pricey as well. Ive been eating antacids like tic tacs since eating this 4 hours ago. Used to love this place. Not sure what changed.

It was just ok. Went for lunch ordered the chicken parmesan, chicken was cold in the middle. Waitress never stopped back to check on us. I had ordered a beer when she dropped off the meals. She finally brought it when we were finished eating. I told her to keep it. Not impressed with the visit this time. Unfortunately after being contacted by the owner and offered a gift card, there has been no follow up with it. I guess that spells it out.

Bruno's Italian restaurant is the best food I have had and you do not go hungry. My experience with all the waiters restaurants off staff are very friendly and helpful. You will also find that in the lounge you that is a lot of people of different ages everything is nice and clean. The service is excellent I would recommend them for the first ones to go eat dinner with one of your loved ones. The rush plenty of parking easy to get to. I go to Bruno's often and we'll still go I think they are the best

The crabmeat stuffed mushrooms were bland. The stuffing had no flavor and it was the same for the baked stuffed shrimp. The time between the salad and the entree was unbelievably long. At no time did anyone acknowledge the wait time or offer an explanation. I would seriously need to think twice before returning.

Very overpriced for the food I got. The room was loud, the server was distracted and didn't refill our drinks. If I'm paying that much for food, I expect a higher quality. Also, very very few healthier, lighter options on the menu. If you're looking for light fare, this is not the restaurant for you.

We was there last night I had chicken and broccoli alfredo had 4 small pieces of chicken. My husband got lobster scampi which was burnt. The owner came to the table insisting to remake my husband dish. Which we said no but he insisted the second was better but by the time it came out everyone at the table was finished eating. I will never go back there

Bruno's is delicious, consistent, friendly, and not too hard on the wallet. The food is excellent, traditional Italian. The space is friendly and comfortable. The staff is attentive and fast. Bruno's is go to comfort food. You can spend a lot more in Portland for a smaller plates and worse service but why would you? Try the stuffed mushrooms. So good.
