We had great service the ribs were delicious. We had the St. Louis ribs, sweet & smoky and they were smoked to perfection. The place was clean and the staff friendly. The restaurant was a little warmer than I would have liked, yet was comfortable for my wife. All-in-all you can't go wrong here.

This remodeled store is better than ever! Food is great! Price is awesome! For local Bbq this is where it is at! This restaurant has a walk order window an inside bar a salad bar that is always fresh. Watch out for Sunday's there is usually a wait around lunch but other days are not much wait at all. Most employees have been there for years. Food comes out fast hot and great! Have not had a bad experience at this restaurant.

The remodel was nice. The lady seating people was very SLOW causing a long line. My chicken wings were served cold. I didn't eat them. The fried pickles were soggy with grease and my husbands chicken was overdone and dry. Won't be back which is sad because they use to have wonderful food.

Always great food. If you go there & have a bad experience, then you were looking for it. Because if you have to wait or your order gets a little mixed up then that should tell you something. It's GOOD! They are extremely busy and there's the obvious...they have delicious bbq that you just can't find anywhere else. So if you go & they are a bit crowded...then leave because you will have to wait, you might not get the waitress of yo dreams...really?!(somebody actually said that!) But it's so worth the wait!

I grew up going to Sonny's, but moved to the other side of town and haven't been there in years; however, I was on this side of town at lunch and stopped by. It's been completely remodeled and looks great and the food was awsome and the prices were very reasonable for the portion and quality. I will definitely try to get back more often.

Ordered online at 9:30am. Had to wait 30mins behind others who ordered much later online and others who didn’t order until they got there. See no point in ordering online if you have to wait in line and actually get your order after people that ordered after you.

Well don't call ahead and place a to go order through the drive through. It'll take 30 min to get your food and then when you get it its cold and the bread is soggy. Seems like to go orders never have the same amount of food. Pitiful.

Loved every bite of our family feast we ordered! Food was cooked to perfection as always! They service was wonderful and the wait staff people are so sweet! I would highly recommend going here for lunch or dinner! They have a salad bar and a (beer) bar! I remember the place before the flood, before they had to completely redo the inside of the place. The place looks amazing inside and out! The make over was well over due and I think out did themselves on keeping it simple, spacious, nice, and very inviting! Sonnys is definitely one of my favorite places to eat when we go through Baton Rouge!

Came here with a friend for all you can eat chicken with sides deal. Amazing value and the food was brought out surprisingly fast. Meat was juicy and sauces were nice. The macaroni was alright and the bread could've been a bit warmer but all in all I would recommend if you're craving good bbq without breaking the bank.

First time back since the 2016 flood. I am glad to see they are back and better than ever. The place looks great!. And the bbq is just as good if not better than it always was. Dry rub ribs were so tender. The new smoked wings were also tender and flavorful. The pulled chicken was also a hit with everyone in our party. Salad bar is awesome. No soups like they used to have but still lots of items and fresh. I will be back no doubt

Who doesn't love BQ?? Nice atmosphere and good to have Sonny's back after the flood. Food is good but not quite as good as it used to be. We visit often and I find a little more fat on sliced beef and pork from what I remember of the old days. Ribs are awesome. Always tender and falling off the bones. Lots to choose from here: burgers, chicken, plate dinners, ribs, sandwiches, beef, pork, all you can eat, or combos. They also have lots of side items to choose from and an awesome salad bar. Restaurant is always clean. Good service and friendly atmosphere. You will leave satisfied and full!

Plenty of good BBQ for a great price. Tried the half chicken with slaw and fried okra. Personally I like my chicken falling off the bone done not quite that but close, it was well done , juicy and flavorful. Sides were good too esp. the okra. Service excellent. Wife said women's bathroom needed attention, apparently no one had told staff. It was busy lunch hour.

I have been to this Sonny's for the last time. The food is great but the service it beyond pitiful. We had not been to Sonny's for several years because it hadn't been that good, but they remodeled, changed some menu items and seemed to be better. We have been several times over the last couple months and the food is always great but we have had to wait WAY longer than an acceptable amount of time for our meals. People who came in after us were getting their food. We were given excuse after excuse about the holdup on our food. On past visits we waited but thus time, after being there an HOUR, we had enough. Paid for our drinks an appetizer and said forget it! Thanks Sonny's, but you have gotten the last of my money.

I really wanted to give this place the full five stars. The BBQ was excellent with huge portions. We fed a table of 4 for under $50 Even simple stuff like the baked beans and toast were different from every other BBQ place. The only complaints I have is that the service was a bit off and they ran out of different meats. We didn't get silverware until after the appetizers arrived. We got no refills on the drinks. There was no pulled pork and halfway into cooking the order they let us know they had to substitute the ribs. If they can just figure out their service situation and manage their supply a little better, I would give it a perfect score.

Finally got back to see Sonny's after the post-flooding renovations. The place looks great and the food is awesome like usual. Its a great remodeling that was overdue. The only thing I miss there is the regular staff from years ago.. Guess they couldn't wait around forever for the restaurant to reopen. Whenever I need to pass through Baton Rouge, I'll be back!

This use to be the go to spot for bbq, the ribs use to be tender and pulled pork tender and customer service impeccable. Since the remodel it's the complete opposite. Me and my friend went there today (Monday) about 330pm and if wasn't anyone in there, the server spent more time sitting at other people table than checking on us. She walked by us no lie about 4 or 5 times without even looking our way but constantly checking on the other people who just happen to be white. The ribs was tough, and the pulled pork tasted undercooked. Other people waited to be seated while she chit chatted in the back, again it wasn't busy at all. Since the remodel, the building look gorgeous but everything else has went down, food quality and customer service especially!!

I read the reviews thought it might be okay. I ordered the three meat plate they were out of jalapeno cheese sausage. So I ordered memphis-style wet ribs and dry rub ribs all the ribs came out wet four of them had dry rub sprinkled on top of them. Was very very disappointed.

We've always like Sonny's, and now that the one's in Athens and Conyers Georgia have closed we don't come up this way much. But we'll be stopping when we do. Very clean, friendly service, good food. Best BBQ in Baton Rouge. I've been in this area for two years and Sonny's BBQ is my stop when I'm craving BBQ. They have the most unique southern egg rolls that I order ever time I go. Definitely a family friendly place. They have messed up my order one time. We had a table of four adults and seven children. there was sides all mixed up and some meals were completely wrong. It was hectic but the manager handled the situation perfectly.

This was the 2nd year my family ate here for our Christmas dinner together. It was absolutely awful. They were out of brisket completely. They haf ran out of ribs it wad gonna be over an hr wait for any ribs to be done. They were out of their egg rolls. Once the food did come out it wasnt even warm. The chicken was under cooked then when we said something they tried to say it was done that the rub was the reason it had a pink color to it...as if we were uneducated. NEVER WILL WE RETURN THE EXPERIENCE WAS ABSOLUTELY AWFUL!!!!

I am down grading my review from 4 stars to 1 star! I ordered through waitr.. I wrote specific instructions for lean meat in the bbq beef brisket sandwich and I received a sandwich full of fat! Yuck!! That totally turned me off to eating there! The last time I ordered something to go the girl ignored me. I doubt if I will go back....

Brisket and bun were both cold and it was only 5 min drive home. Service was horrible took so long had to take it to go since my grandkids had somewhere to be sat there for at least 15 mins before waitress came and was rude calling us baby didn't soften the bad service. I tipped the waitress because I know in Mississippi they depend on tips but she didn't deserve it... That's $50.00 and 1 he I will never see again.. Never again for me..

Nice place. I ordered the three meat sandwich sausage pork and brisket. Sausage was good, have a good flavor in a good texture. The pork was good, typical pulled pork. The brisket though was sliced really thin and didn't have much flavor. I would have to order more brisket to judge that. Overall the price was Fair.

Place was SUPER crowded. Not the place to go in a hurry. I placed a to-go order and although there were no other people needing to place or pick up orders, I still had to wait a good 10 minutes just to place the order. We waited a long time for our drinks, and the server gave my son someone elses drink, when she noticed she came and gave the drink my son had to the other customer instead of making them a new one. Once we ordered we waited forever for our food, appetizer came out with the food, and the food was very cold. Once we finally tracked down our server, she brought us out "new" food. My son's French fries were very dark, my husband's beans were pretty much boiling and he never even got new fries, and my broccoli was dry with brown parts all over it, almost as if someone in the kitchen was trying to make a point by super heating our food. We ate what food was with eating and waited again until we could track down our server. Finally found her and was able to get our tickets but had to wait forever to pay her and ended up going to the bar to pay only for her to tell us we needed to pay her.

The ribs, pulled pork, and chicken were delicious, along with the coleslaw and the southern egg rolls were amazing. However, the green beans seemed bland and frozen, and the macaroni seemed like it was boxed Velveeta instead of from scratch as it was implied. My mother had the baked beans and she said they tasted funky. I would recommend it for the things I liked, but nothing else.

This was our third time going to the one in Brandon, MS and it was just as disappointing as the first two. Every time they ran out of pulled brisket and pulled chicken. How on a Friday night do you not prepare enough food? Management should know there will be a dinner rush. Also the service is slow, pub on waiting 15 mins to place your order and another 10 to get your drinks. Last time going to Sonny’s!!

We ate there for lunch. Great server. We ordered lunch portions of chicken (2 orders) and 1 turkey plate. They say it is by weight, but the turkey always seems scant compared to the chicken, pork, or beef. It is tasty, though. For sides we had fries, baked beans, and broccoli. Make sure you ask them to steam the broccoli or it comes cold. I knew from experience to ask for it streamed. If you order unsweet tea, they place a spoon in it. I don't like silverware in my drinks and so, I ask for them not to place one in my drink. Server brought me lemons and packaged sauce as I asked. Overall a great experience for a sit-down meal.

We had to be patient in receiving silverware, plates needed for salad bowl, and having our drinks refilled. Service was a little on the slow side. When the waitress brought my food it was missing the fried onions. When I asked about it she had not looked to make sure the food was right before she brought it to the table. Then I had to wait for onions to be cooked. I was happy to wait just really struck me that the waitress was not on her game. The server should always look at the plate to make sure all is right. And expecting the customer to over look it is wrong. Other than that food was great. Just sorry service Would have left a 20% tip but she bad service left $5.23 on a $32 check. If she only did the job right she may have gotten more.

First time I tried the sampler plate to get a taste of everything - beef brisket, chicken wing, and ribs. Then, I just loved the ribs, so I ordered that the second time. I tried the dried and prefer the smokey ribs more for the flavor. The sweet potatoes, Mac and cheese coleslaw and baked beans are very good. All sides are unforgettable.

Where do I start... So out of all the restaurants that I could've chose to go to for my bday dinner I chose Sonny's. Worst decision ever!!!!! We was a party of 3 and ordered the "All you can eat ribs". The first batch for all of us was great. After that the only thing that was tasty was the bread!! Our second round of ribs didn't have any flavor at all. 3rd round was half cooked! Now let me make this clear. On the first round of ribs we only received 5 each. Second round 3 each. Third round which was uncooked 2 each. So much for all you can eat ribs huh? Then they told us that they ran out of ribs. Really??? But we saw other customers getting ribs "after they ran out." The sweet Tea was trash along with the sides. My wife also ordered a baked sweet potato and it literally took them almost a whole hour to bring it out and it was not good. Literally the bread was the best part of the meal. The waitress was horrible. The whole time the 3 of us was there eating she didn't remove not one plate! Pic will be attached. So we complained to the manager afterwards and she really didn't care. Needless to say that we'll never spend another dime there. #BdayDinnerRuined

To clarify a misleading note on Google, you can purchase all-you-can-eat salad, but the BBQ is NOT all-you-can-eat. I went in expecting a buffet with all sorts of BBQ and sides on it. There was not one, just one with salad. Being fast-food BBQ, it was good. Right outside the building, it smells like fresh chopped wood. The baked beans were pretty good (still not as good as Podnuhs, but none are), the crinkle cut fries were crisp, and all of the meats i got were tasty and went well with the 4 sauces offered. Alcohol is served here and there is a pamphlet advertising Sonny's Amber that i wanted to try, but it's not available in Louisiana.

I have heard about Sonnys for years. Everyone says how great it is. I finally had the chance to see if the hype was real. I can say without hesitation it is real! Sonnys is clean, spacious, VERY friendly staff, food was GREAT! I liked everything about it, very relaxed atmosphere. Prices are great, 4 of us ate for under $50, with appetizer and drinks. We went 11/4/18 and got there at 11:30, no wait in line. I ordered the rib and wing combo, we got a all you can eat ribs, brisket, chicken and we got a lunch brisket all with sweet potatoes and beans. My ribs were so tough it was like a dog gnawing a bone, you almost needed a knife to cut the meat off the bone but my wings were perfect. My brother got the all you can eat and she brought out 4 slices of brisket and that was it, he had asked for ribs which never showed, he finally saw her and asked and she said “I put that order in 30 minutes ago, you never got them?” 15 minutes later still nothing so he flagged down another waitress and asked her to adjust the ticket to a brisket plate which they did since we needed to go. Our sweet potatoes were also not well done and mine was so hard I had to send it back. Not sure what the problem was on this day but it’s bad when you have to go through a drive through on the way home. Doubt we will be back for a while.

I stopped in this store two days ago on the way home from my grandmother's funeral. I ordered food "to go" because we had our dog in car. I tipped the lady $8.00 on a $43.17 meal that she did nothing to earn. I then realized I forgot my drinks and ordered two sweet teas "to go" . The check should have been $5.81 as my receipt shows. "Lacey W." however decided to help herself to another $7.19 tip on my bank card without my authorization. I am saddened that she didn't appreciate the generous tip she did nothing to earn and decided to steal more money from me. I am a business owner and this employee would be terminated immediately. You can clearly see the impression of the merchant receipt also has a line through the tip amount. I wish I had the option of no stars.

Hi Folks , Well just let you know a few things, I am at banks crossing eating your food, the staff doesnt know their job, we were asked how and what kinda of chicken we wanted, breast and a thigh, well got a wing and half a chicken breast, we had to ask for simple things like the thigh x 3 and drink refill, slaw, and at one point we had , just gave up! This is the worst place to eat, not because of the half potion but sorry service, after 3 x some came out gave us a thigh and leg! The food was good, the service is a plan killer! Do not do this its not worth the effort! We wont come back! Recommend anywhere you like just not here!

Good place to eat. Kids like it as well. I have noticed a couple of times, when you get all you can eat ribs, the first batch is pretty good, the second, third, and so on isn't. Doesn't make any sense. I have asked about it, and the staff acts like they don't know what I'm taking about. It's almost like the first batch of ribs is first class ribs, but from there on out, it's leftovers, or cooked elsewhere, totally different in taste and texture. Also, you probably have to have 6 or 7 go arounds of all you can eat to even get a slab of ribs. They bring you tiny portions for an all you can eat. It's still a good place to eat, but it's just strange with the ribs, if you get all you can eat.

HANDS DOWN, THE BEST BBQ RESTAURANT IN BATON ROUGE!! Our waitress Kimberly, was all smiles from begging to end. She was very pleasant & attentive. "ALL" of their bbq is very moist, tender, & seasoned to perfection. The Restaurant was very comfortable, inviting, & clean. Clean place. Friendly servers in a slow paced, relaxed environment. The pulled pork was great. The sauces are good. The drink sizes are great. The cole slaw was good. The baked beans were AWWWWFUL! You would think that they would have figured that one out since they claim the have been in business since 1968.

We were passing through the city heading home and my husband wanted BBQ. We found this place and decided to try it. He had the sweet Carolina sandwich on garlic toast with corn on the cob. I had the redneck egg rolls. Everything was great. The sauce for the eggrolls is addictive. So good. The corn was so sweet and juicy. If we are ever back in Mississippi we will try this place again.

I love Sonny's - They catered my brother's retirement party and several family events. The service and food was good for each event. It was so missed after the 2016 flood; I emailed several time to push the restoration alone(smile). I needed by pulled pork and ribs fix! They know my nephew by name at the front desk; because of the frequency of dining there. It is a great family barbeque place. I am on the road alot and I run in and get my red neck egg rolls to go; so delicious. The chicken is moist, smokey and good too. Sign up for the texts and get special.

This used to be my all time favorite place for ribs and my family's too. Whenever they visit from the coast we had to go to Sony's before any where else. But they have changed their ribs and beans so it's not our favorite any more. I used to go there 2 times a week but now I go every couple of months.

Friendly staff. Good BBQ , sliced beef is the most lean ( less fat than I expected) Green beans were green, not overcooked dark green and well seasoned. We split a plate since we don't eat much. I wasn’t gonna leave a review but I’m too salty about this. I ordered a brisket dinner plate for about 13 bucks and was disappointed by the amount of brisket they gave me. Seeing this on a Sunday afternoon without any breakfast and a empty stomach truly destroyed my soul. The fact that they were proud enough to send that out told me everything I needed to know about the establishment. You guys really let me down. 1 star.

Since the rebuild after the 2016 flood, they've redone everything in the right direction. The concrete floors and more toned down colors make almost a big enough improvement alone to make us forget how thick the grease smell was in the old building. Fantastic service and food.

Visited Sonny's for lunch yesterday. The food was good, but not exceptional. I did enjoy the fact that the meat is wood smoked and it is tasty. The sides are pretty basic. I wish the old store near us had been remodeled, it would have made it if they had just put some money back into it. This does in Commerce is very nice.

Food is pretty much how it has always been. You can tell it comes frozen to the location and made up for the guests. So food is always just okay. Great portion sizes though and the remodel is very nice.

Really good barbecue. They offer a homemade sauce that’s not too bad, but their sweet sauce is excellent. The staff is friendly and fast. Great parking. The booths are sort of comfortable, but the other seating is rock hard uncomfortable. Also, the lighting inside is harsh and industrial. I’m in a business that knows lighting and theirs isn’t conducive to presenting a nice dining atmosphere.
