REVIEWS OF Jacques-Imo's IN Louisiana

This was my second time coming here, but first with kids. What I love about Jacques-Imo's is that they embrace and encompass everything New Orleans. There decor is quirky and fun, the food is creative and inventive and they try to stay authentic to their food heritage ingredients. This time we got the rabbit gumbo, the fried green tomatoes, and the fried chicken. the gumbo was the best gumbo I had while I was there, perfectly dark broth and great ingredients. And of course their corn bread Dee-Lish-us. The server was laid back and friendly, and the whole experience was super fun and enjoyable. Will be back.

Donovan McCrea

I'm amazed by Jacques-Imos. You get a Louisiana feel with great quality food and beverages. I ordered the Crab Grouper with Creole as a second entree. Red rice, beans and mashed potatoes as sides. Crab stuffed shrimp to start. The fried shrimp tasted like it was breaded with cornbread. The seafood quality was excellent, all of it. The shrimp Creole sauce was so good I was licking my plate, no lie. And the grouper was coated with a crab layer on top. It was even better than I expected given the fact that everyone hyped up the restaurant. Great service, great food, go check it out.

G. Matthew Kennedy

I died and went to heaven. This place is outstanding and the menu is out of this world. New Orleans charm.

Steph W.

Love this place!! Not enough words to describe this place! A must to visit, every trip to NO!

Wil Schober

2nd time dining here. Celebrating stepson leaving for basic training for the LA National Guard. Food and service was top notch! Had lamb, bbq shrimp, and grouper. All was great, and they even comped us a delicious dessert! Definitely recommend. If you want great food with a cool vibe, this is your spot.

Fern G

Very good food! Atmosphere was nice as well.

Toya J

Best serivce i ever had in my life .. and the food was great. Well worth the money

Chris Hodge

Fun place for dinner. Expect a crowd and a bit of a wait...but the food is worth the wait. The venison was top notch.

Jordan Morris

On our 3-day trip, this place stands out due to its uniqueness. Its known for its quirkiness and it lives up to it. You literally walk through the kitchen to be seated. The service is excellent. Plan to spend a little more here but its worth it for the unique atmosphere, creative meal options, and excellent service.

Lisa R

These pictures don't do the food justice because it was so rich and delicious. The Crawfish alligator cheesecake was like nothing I've ever had before. Sort of like a quiche but a cheesecake. I dunno but I loved it! The roast beef po' boy was deep fried. Yum! We only did appetizers that day but the entrees looked delicious too!

Alton Larson

Good service and plenty of the good food you want.

Jason Kirby

Absolutely the best food! All staff was friendly. Our waiter, William, was always on time and attentive. Atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. We will return and send friends when coming to NOLA!

Stokes Baker

The crayfish etouffee is amazing. The wait staff is attentive. The atmosphere uniquely New Orleans. I will remember this meal for years.

Carin Carstens

As always, absolutely delicious. Always get the alligator cheese cake. Special was softshell crab over fried green tomatoes & can never go wrong with crawfish etouffee.

Noah Hale

I'd give it ten stars if I could. A New Orleans staple. Love it love it love it.

Amy Richardson

The food was incredibly good but the best part of our visit was the staff. We had limited time and no other food options nearby within walking distance, having taken a Uber from the hospital. The hostess found a spot for us quickly and the waiter was great and super quick. I loved the atmosphere, quirky and eclectic. Felt like we were having dinner on someone's bayou back porch. Very cool place. I would love to go back when we have more time to relax and just take it in. There were 4 of us and we all loved our meal.

James Fenimore

This place was fantastic!! Must try the cheesecake appetizer!!

Peter R.

Could easily have stopped with the crawfish and gator cheesecake and left this place quite happy. The cornbread was simply delicious. Had the fried rabbit over pasta, tasso and shrimp. Also pretty darn good, though at $32 and change, seemed a bit pricey. We had heard to expect long lines but went on a Wednesday night, which was during their "slow" time, so we only waited about 20 minutes. Some free and nice little dessert nibbles at the end were a great touch.

Aaron Vernik

The food is amazing. Great cajun selections and large portions. I had the crawfish etouffee and the rabbit and sausage gumbo. They were both excellent. We also had the grilled oysters. They were also good. Service was great. It's a very popular place, crowded and noisy but not in a bad way. Worth the wait. In fact, wait at the Maple Leaf bar next door and grab a quick drink.

Island Ellerby

This is a must eat place for anyone, local or tourist. Expect a wait, but boy does it pay off substantially. From beginning to end there was nothing but great service and amazing things happening to my taste buds. The shrimp creole is top notch. As a bonus the wait staff is very knowledgeable about gluten allergies and were extremely helpful pointing out what was safe and what was off limits. Fantastic experience.

Kyle Oblinger

The short ribs and sides were to die for. One of my favorites in the city

AbbyT Mauwong

This is SO good!. Locals recommend it, and they are right. It's past the big Garden Dristrict homes and almost at the end of the streetcar line, get off at Oak Street. The patrons are mostly local, the owner walks the dining area (which is fun, hip, and casual), shaking hands and just being nice. The food is incredible, and the prices are more than reasonable. Fun, fun place. Reservations not required, but helpful.

Jeremiah Willis

This is the best food I have had anywhere in the United States. Only reason we don't go more often is A the price and B ghey are ALWAYS BUSY . I recommend the lamb.

Karl X.Y. Zou

aithentic southern cuisine with rich flavor. Professional service. Salad and dessert is free!! We tried drum, grouper, and snail. If they do better on pest control, it’s gonna be 5 stars.

Jeff Kaemmerling

Perfectly done, home style cooking in an actual house! Very traditional Louisiana cooking but with an incentive modern flair, full bar. Always a wait, so no biggie! Put your name in and step into the Maple Leaf bar next door for a beer and some of the best music I've ever heard in New Orleans! Truly

Nausheen Vicaruddin

20 years later and the food was still as good as we remembered

Amy Rose

Yummmmmmmmmm the eggplant dish was AMAZING. Also, you have to try the alligator cheesecake. Just do it.

Kylie Locke

Best dining experience we have had in a long time. Boudin balls and fried chicken were insane. Damien was an exceptional server!

David King

The saving grace of my New Orleans trip. After trying multiple places for food and drinks I found this little gem. Even at 8:30 at night on a Monday evening there was an hour and a half wait. The bar tenders were very effective while you waited for your table. The food was spot on and the side dishes were just as good. Try the potato crusted drum fish, cooked perfectly. As for the desserts...I passed after seeing what the table ordered. Creme brulee over cooked, the dish was only half filled and the sugar was barely caramelized. But I still had a great time and dinner was the best.

Dan Danielsson

First trip to NOLA. Great food and service. Small off the beaten path place. Dont miss it!

Monica Rivers

Food was delicious!!! I've been to New Orleans like 5 times and never heard of this place. It was recommended by our BnB host, Kim... I had the salmon dinner with red beans&rice. So darn good. I took a star off because I ordered two cocktails from the bar, both were pretty nasty.

Ebony Johnson

Fried grits was so good!! The alligator cheese cake was decent. Service was quick

D. A

The atmosphere was great, food less desirable. I am from Louisiana, the food was very very very bland (and I don't cook with salt), the cocktail tasted like melon grass water. I was very disappointed in the food, especially for the cost.

Josie Gerrietts

This is my favorite restaurant in New Orleans. Amazing food, great atmosphere. Do not miss this place.

Kim Rudy

One of my favorite places to eat in Nawlins! Food was phenomenal and so was the service.

Jay Si

Good food and service. Tight spaces for tables.

Xavi Cortal

Wow. Just wow. This place embodies what locals tell us tourists about food in New Orleans. Cornbread that will make you reexamine your convictions. Better service than we received at fine dining restaurants in town. Will definitely be coming back every time we're in New Orleans.

Pitt Daddydiesel

Fun little local spot outside the french quarter that is totally worth the trip to check out. A very unique atmosphere and a unique menu. We had alligator cheesecake, which was awesome, lamb, and the fried chicken. While I have had better fried chicken in other parts of the south, this is by far the best in the area. I would definitely recommend this place and it's a great spot to get away from the crazy of the french quarter.

Kfr Newpage

Shrimp and alligator cheesecake fantastic, soft shell crab wow!

Brandon bcg

Ive never tasted anything better than that cheesecake appetizer

Mike Coon

One of the best "hole in the wall" restaurants I have ever been to. Truly friendly and attentive waitstaff, generous drinks, fantastic seafood...always something new along with the traditional New Orleans fare! Can't wait to have a chance to go back!

Bruce Ashley

Sleazy operation. Egregious child endangerment! I would not give them a penny!

Paula Snow

Excellent service and food. Alligator sausage cheesecake was incredible! Same with boudin balls and gumbo!

Chris Pino

Like this place a lot! Food was good, bartenders were personable and it was a cool atmosphere. Definitely a fun place to go to to get out of the French Quarter.

Cassidy J

Without a doubt some of the best food I’ve ever had. The shrimp and alligator sausage cheesecake is absolutely out of this world!

BJ McCurley

Freaking wow! Just insanely delicious. Had the shrimp and alligator cheesecake, maybe the most delicious thing I've ever eaten. No joke. BBQ shrimp with rice for entree. Crazy tasty. If you're in NOLA you should try it. Amazing.

Sharon Kuhrt

Wow what a fantastic place. Well worth the trip. Excellent service and awesome food.

dblodgett61 .

A flavor experience second to none. This place is situated in a neighborhood, fashioned out what I believe was a private residence at one point, so the digs are cozy but not overwhelming. The menu is a cross of traditional southern fare with cajun and creole mashups. The fried chicken is some of the best I've had, the boudin still makes my mouth water thinking of it this far removed, and the deep fried poboy, yes that's not a typo it's a deep fried sandwhich, is a religious experience. Take the time to stop in, I recommend this place to any and all who want a great meal in a great local.

Catie Elyn

Everything was so good. The service was great. Loved the crawfish cheesecake.

Adrian

Worth the wait - this place is an experience. I can't think of many places where I went and inhaled everything on the table. And the liveliness - wow. It's impressive how it all comes together.

Erika Marsh Pitman

I love this place! The art work is amazing (make sure you look everywhere ... including the ceiling). Food is delicious! The blackened red fish is one of my favorites.

Matthew Brown

Unique spot with fantastic food, high prices, quirky service, and very little elbow room. Expect a wait, expect to spend a good chunk of change with entrees from $25 to $35. Sampled 2 appetizers which were both delicious, one thoroughly unique: Alligator & Shrimp Cheesecake. Entrees are a high price, but delicious and well crafted with the local New Orleans flair, offering boiled shellfish, catfish, gator, and a good smattering of comfort classics like fried chicken. The place is small, tightly packed, and suffers from a want of space as you may end up sitting alone in the front window or just below a table of ten, your face level with the seats of their chairs. Our server was... extremely relaxed. This made for a comical though perfectly satisfactory experience outside the expectations of traditional restaurant service. Everything was delivered correctly and the experience was very easy and friendly. I'd highly recommend this place for a special visit during a trip to New Orleans, frequent public transportation will get you very close but street parking is available as well. Reservations are only for groups of at least 5, so be ready to wait even on a weekday.

Chris Reynolds

Crazy good local food, appetizer of gator cheesecake (more like an egg dish) was super good!

Nikki Chirico

My husband and I are visiting New Orleans and dined at Jacques Imo tonight which is our last night. The restaurant is in a big Southern style house with a ton of charm. The entire staff was extremely pleasant but I must say our waiter Brent stood out and provided us with some of the best service we’ve had while dining out. He was friendly, recommended items and checked in frequently. The food and Brent are two big reasons that I would visit here again.

Veronica McFee

Crazy with people, super long wait...WORTH IT! Fantastic, I mean fantastic food! Great fun atmosphere, good service...did I mention the FANTASTIC FOOD? Definitely a "must go" when in New Orleans!

Stephen Webb

My first time, everything was wonderful. A true Nawlins classic. Everyone should experience this culinary masterpiece.

Kevin Mabey

Wow! If you are interested in real Cajun cooking, this is a must visit in New Orleans. Eclectic menu inside an old home makes this a special place to enjoy a great meal. In the mood for alligator cheesecake? This menu is fun and creative! While the service is attentive but laid back. It's a local favorite and we'll worth it if you can get there.

Brianne Merck

The food is: Superb! A bit pricey and VERY busy. I would suggest reservations. We had great service throughout the entire length of our visit. The atmosphere is vibrant and there is a lot of people in closer quarters, so be prepared to move your chair or be bumped a few times (at least, where we were sitting in the back, it was like that).

Tom Czerniak

Jacque-imo's catered our son's wedding and did a tremendous job. Food was perfect and the service was as good as it gets in a city known for great service. Monique helped all the way through selecting food choices through setup to delivery. She helped make it a perfect night, thanks.

Sean Griffin

We loved the place. Food was great and the service was the best.

Cody Smith

Funky decor and huge portions. Cornbread muffins and spinach salad were bonus courses, meaning we ended up with waaaay too much food. But the country fried venison was a rare treat. I'm definitely going back once my aorta recovers!

wayne golden

Excellent food and service. Stuffed pork chops and crawfish etouffe were great. Went at 6:00 and we're seated right away but by the time we left at 7:15, there was a 45 minute wait on Saturday. Great as always.

Paul Warn

Great neighbourhood, amazing local flavour and the staff know what they are doing!

Ginger Huge

The food and staff were amazing! We had crab stuffed shrimp for an appetizer, very yummy. And we shared the grouper topped with crab in a hollandaise sauce, which was incredible along with the red beans & rice and the greens were the best we have ever had.

Mark Sheldon

Excellent Cajun food, great service, and generous cocktails. Get out of the French quarter and try this place.

C QUEBRAL

Amazing! The server (Brent?) was extremely kind and accommodating, the food was ON POINT

Bradley Darjean

Wonderful service. Great food. Best down home style cooking I have had in a while.

Glen Moffat

Amazing food in an eclectic setting. Very creative menu that puts a pleasant and exciting twist on the local business! Loved it

JJ P

Awesome dining experience! There was not one thing that was not exceptional from the time we walked in to the time we left. The service was above and beyond, our waiter could not have been any better. And the food was fabulous! I was with a group of 4, so we all ordered a different entrée so we could sample more of the menu options. All were absolutely delicious! Of course we had to get the alligator cheesecake appetizer, which was wonderful, much better than I expected. We also had their signature cocktails. The rum punch was my favorite! Most places that I have dined here in New Orleans have not lived up to the hype, this one definitely does. Don't miss out on coming here. There is usually a line, but it is well worth the wait!

Cory Beal

This place IS as good as it gets! JI's is a place you would walk right past if you didn't know better, and if you happened to have fought your way through the hundreds of people outside waiting. Get there before 6:00 pm or you could be waiting for 90 mins for a table, though the bar area is very friendly. The other great thing about JI's is the trip to get there. From the Quarter you will have to take the St. Charles street car through the Garden District which is $1.25 and a great way to see upriver New Orleans. The service is incredible due to their need to get people in and out since it is a very small place. You don't really have a waiter as much as you have a contact person. Lacey was our waitress the second time we went and she was the coolest chick in the place. Finding time to tell us her favorites while still hustling! The menu is so unique and inspired and one of the few places where you can honestly say try anything and it will be incredible! Couple of staples, Alligator Cheesecake (trust me and every other yelper who suggests it too!), BBQ Shrimp, and the best Calamari I've ever had. We sampled two appetizers, shared an entrée’ (The Godzilla which was an incredible crab dish when in season!), and had a desert and the bill was about $58.00 with tip and worth EVERY penny. JI was so great we went there our last night to have dinner again! Wife and i said this was the third best meal we've EVER had and will be a staple of our vacation is we ever make it back to the Crescent City, Big Easy, Who Dat Nation, and a French word I can't spell! INSIDER TIP: Those that read this far here is a little nugget too. When you ride the streetcar back there is a bend in the track that takes you back to St. Charles and a Daiquiri Bar sits on the corner. It is owned by LiL Wayne's Uncle and he will show you ALL his pictures and then buy you a drink if you are from out of town and visiting his establishment.

Tripp Rabalais

GREAT New Orleans food. FANTASTIC Staff a must for all to visit.

Jason Broom

Every thing was near perfection. Service A class, food delicious and different then normal NOLA cusine, atmosphere was awesome....$32 for a short rib.... I don't know about that. #Geauxeat

chris scala

Amazing food, casual atmosphere, 1 hour wait minimum unless you get very lucky. Sign in and get a drink or two next door. The waiting area is crowded. Service is efficient and friendly, though they're way too busy to chat.

Paul T

May, 2019. Dinner while in town for work. Recommended by a friend and we really enjoyed it. Service and food were outstanding. Great place.

Todd Williams

The atmosphere here is eclectic and unique. The food was delectable, and just as delicious as you would hope for. The sausage and alligator cheesecake was a delight and the fried chicken is not to be missed. Fresh ingredients mixed with an amazing staff make this place a definite go-to restaurant if visiting New Orleans. I will be back and I cannot wait to try more of their food!

Nathan A

I went due to the high ratings but maybe i went on the wrong day. I ordered crawfish ettoufee and this is what I got. I was very disappointed. It tastes bland. I waited for over an hour and 45 minutes for this.

Terri J

Food and service is a 5‼️‼️‼️ why is it a 4?Godzilla” fried soft shell crab sitting atop fried green tomato and fried eggplant medallions with a cajun hollandaise sauce. Perfectly cooked- fried to perfection - and the sauce? Outta this world!! The waiter even comped us a dessert and because we could decide put a little of each- Creme brûlée with chocolate covered strawberries, and the coconut cream bread pudding- both really delicious. Service outstanding. Love the atmosphere- funky murals all over the walls and original Nola artists paintings (Frenchy, mich, etc.) its touristy but in a superb way! Why the 4? It’s friggin hot in there and the tables are incredibly close together. It deserves a 4.8 but that’s not possible on google review. Have been here many many times- consistent quality, service, experience... Highly recommend

JENNIFER Pedroza

Truly the best food we have eaten during our stay in NOLA! Alligator cheese cake is amazing. Each course was delicious, so many things to try. Start to finish this place doesn't disappoint!

Jeff Oliver

Nice place and great asmosphere. Food was ok but I think there are better places if your a foodie.

Jordan Vallas

This place is so amazing. Every single dish I got was life changing. From corn bred to red fish to desert, I would recommend it all. Shout out to my waitress Rosa, you were great. I absolutely will be coming back!

allen benitez

Very good authentic N.O. creole food. The atmosphere and decor is truly N.O., definitely a must stop when visiting the city. Be prepared for at least a one to two hour wait.

Miche M.

I was underwhelmed by my entire experience at Jacques-Imos. To start, your entire party must be present in order to be seated...so be clear on what time you want to arrive. When we were finally seated, we were led through the middle of the kitchen. Food was exposed to every customer walking through to be seated, and I could only hope my food was safe for consumption. My party was directed to a 4-seater table that was squeezed in between every other table around it. We barely had room to squeeze into our seats and 2 of us had to sit back to back to other guests. Our server was the worst. He was sweating profusely the entire night and had an attitude like he hated his job. We mentioned that it was one of my friend's birthday and we got absolutely no response from him. We felt very unwelcomed! Now let's talk food. They give you complimentary cornbread muffins. I personally didn't like them, but the others did. The entrees come with a side salad, or shall I say a 'Sad Salad.' It consisted of spinach with some oil and a fried oyster on the side. The entrees also come with 2 sides. In my opinion, the sides don't match the entrees. If most of your entrees have some type of sauce on them, why would most of your sides be wet/saucy as well? I had the Eggplant Pirogue with mashed sweet potatoes and corn macque chow. The eggplant meal lacked seasoning and it was drenched in sauce which made it soggy. The seafood in the sauce tasted like it had been sitting in the sauce all day long. The texture of the seafood was pasty. Needless to say, I wasted $30 on that meal. I would be perfectly fine if I never returned here.

Shelly Darrow

As someone from New Orleans this is by far my favorite local restaurant. I send people here all the time, just for the experience. Make sure to try the Alligator & Sausage Cheesecake. You won't be disappointed.

Chris Christensen

Food not only excellent but imaginative. Service great team work, far beyond the best. Atmosphere unusual but perfect. Dress for comfort. Worth how ever long... Worth It...

Richard Cichowicz

Food was out of this world! Great and courteous service.

Tiffany Jackson

The staff was friendly and really great and the wait wasn't bad at all. The food was good also. It is kind of a smaller place and is usually full of people laughing and talking.

Spencer Gifford

I really liked the environment - - but after eating here I really don't think the average price of an entre should be 25 dollars. It's really not that good. The service was pretty good though and I think they knew we weren't into the food as they gave us a free desert.

Jay Winfield

Best fried chicken in town. All of the sides are phenomenal. Great service

Diego de Las Casas

Amazing vibe and delicious food! Service is pretty good if you factor out the waiting time. Go with no rush and enjoy the experience.

Rich Casey

Funky place, great food, wild atmosphere.

Zoeboss Jacmel

I loved here but most of all of New Orleans

Derail Jaymes

Best food we had on our entire New Orleans trip!! Huge selection of options, from the best seafood in Louisiana to the best fried chicken I had during my visit. The decor and ambiance is great, our wait-staff was amazing, and the food #100!! I plan to stop here every time I'm in town, and if I'm lucky, I'll have tried everything on the menu before I'm 50! Also, the minitruck is a VIP dining table! Call to reserve it for that special dinner! Definitely reccomend!! Must visit on your trip to New Orleans! #boudinballs and #dessert

Farinmade Azeem

Beautiful scenery. Great selections of new Orleans styled cuisine. Food was good and service was timely.

Judy Scott

Absolutely the best food! All staff was friendly. Our waiter, William, was always on time and attentive. Atmosphere was relaxed and comfortable. We will return and send friends when coming to NOLA!

Dale LaFrance

Amazing service and experience. Food was top notch for all 3 courses. We will be back!

Christina Caskey Rooke

My favorite spot to eat in New Orleans. The food is delicious and the decor is very fun. There is usually always a wait, so I like to just go right when they open. Love it!

Jaelene Cumba

Food was great. My favorite is the alligator cheesecake. Small restaurant with quirky decor but can accommodate large parties with a reservation.

Aaron Batdorf

Get the gator cheesecake. And the boudin balls. And pretty much anything else, it's all delicious in a unique environment!

Rosanna Tarricone

Typical! Noisy and packed but you can get the real creole food here. Service is good and quick. One of the restaurants not to miss if you happen in New Orleans!

Janus Laker

The food was absolutely amazing. This was our first time there, I’ve been to crabby Jack’s & Ruth’s Chris several times but I think I have my new favorite now. Geaux JACQUES IMO’S LOL

Zobeida Fernandez-Brown

Delicious!!!!

Dustin Quiel

This place is far off the beaten path if you are a tourist in New Orleans, but we'll worth the trip. The ambiance and service was great and the food even better. I had the swordfish special for entree and the shrimp and alligator cheesecake. If you come here, you must try the shrimp and alligator cheesecake. Wow! Don't get discouraged by the name. It is made to look like a slice of cheesecake, but it is not a desert.

Vin Man

I'm pretty sure I have already reviewed Jacques-Imo's. But if not, it is well worth the effort to get here and I will be back!

dieter block

Great food, great service. Quaint really cool place, definitely coming back. Although do to is awesomeness it gets crowded, expect some waiting time.

Nakia Staley

The food was the best..i had the grouper was excellent, stuffed shrimp. Oh the cornbread is amazing!!!!

Gin 2324

The wait was ridiculously long for a Thursday night, & the place was packed! The hostess was pulling her hair out & we almost opted for something easier, but thank goodness we didn’t! The service was fabulous, & right on time for everything! The food, OMG the food!!! This place is packed for a good reason! The cuisine was awesome. The fish, shrimp, pork chops, lord, so divine. We HATE waiting for a table like anyone, but we will be back, the wait be damned!

Tim Murphy

We weren't even trying to go here but it ended up being great. Honestly the best part is the garlic butter cornbread you get before the meal. I had fried chicken and the alligator sausage cheesecake and both of those were real dope.

Stephen Chacko

Jacques-Imo's is the ABSOLUTE GREATEST, local-yocal off the beaten path, non tourist, best kept secret in the New Orleans food scene. Phenomenal staff serving PHENOMENAL food!! If y'all are lucky, you'll get to meet the legendary Jacques himself then you will experience the true spirit of New Orleans!!

Rachel Smith

Great seafood and friendly people. I loved it but can't quote anything on their prices because my daughter and I were treated by a southern gentleman.

John Hamblen

Wow! Incredible! Food, service, environment all excellent.

Jeff Marsicano

Great cajun spot. One of the long time favorites. Food and service were great.

Jeffrey Howell

Great Nawlins Place to eat, staff were fantastic

John Keller

Funky vibe with food food. Very popular with tourists so expect at least an hour wait for dinner most nights. If eating alone or just as a couple, consider eating at the bar. Faster than waiting for a table and same menu.

shawn zirkle

Get there early. It packs in quick. $$$ but well worth it. The fried grits are awesome. Service is top notch.

Jon Paul Houser

Really great food in a nice neighborhood away from downtown. Get there early because it gets crowded quick and they don't take reservations.

Kerri Donnelly

This was my first time there and I am a local! FANTASTIC! The fish was cooked to perfection and a very generous portion. I dining partner ordered the soft shell crab special and said he was fantastic as well. The service was superb. I will be back!

Samantha Lee

Alligator cheesecake. Yes. The tight spaces around the restaurant seem off-putting at first but it’s part of the culture. Drinks were great. A New Orleans gem you have to try.

David Mooney

Best meal in New Orleans!! Eggplant wrapped shrimp and pork chop were amazing. Highly recommend coming here but plan ahead because they are busy!

Lucy Fischman

I wanted to eat so much more bc everything was SO GOOD, but i was stuffed. Pace yourself! Had a nice martini while we waited about 25 minutes for a table for 2...no problem. They text you, so you could wait outside if you wanted to. There are so many great menu choices and the special - Brussels sprouts with chili glaze- were wonderful. Do not miss this place. Lots of shops along the street too.

Nicholas Herbert

What an eclectic place. Paintings on the ceiling, walking through the kitchen to the dining room, or even eating on the bed of an old truck. Very cool place.

Jessica Coleman

Amazing as always. I always bring out of town family and friends here to eat when they visit. This time we started with the snails and boudin balls and ended with the bread pudding... Deliciousness !!!

Justine Javior

They were able to seat our large party fast, the food is home style and excellent! The restaurant and staff epitomize the phrase "work with what you got" its an amazing thing to see. In all a wonderful New Orleans experience!

Kevin Townsend

Awesome experience Best Boudin balls and corn bread ever. BBQ Shrimp is a can't miss.

Deniz Nesrin

Everything on the menu is authentic and delicious, you simply cannot go wrong. They deserve 5 stars and more!

Dan DiFiore

Today is our first day in New Orleans. We traveled here for the food. Our first restaurant experience somewhere else had us concerned the food may not be as good as we'd hoped Then we came to Jacques. Oh man. Best meal I've had in ages I own a food business myself and I must say these folks are doing a damn good job Awesome atmosphere and even better food Great job guys.

False Persona

Good food. Gotta try the shrimp

Ester Wensink

Amazing food and friendly service! The go to place for good ole New Orleans style experience.

Olivia Anderson

A 13-year-old child worker here suffered 3rd degree burns when he tripped and fell as he carried hot oil that he had emptied from the kitchen's deep fryer (it’s illegal to employ anyone under the age of 14). According to a Department of Labor report, minors employed at Jacque Imo’s have consistently worked as late as 1 a.m. (also illegal). These minors also worked more than 40 hours per week, more than eight hours on a non-school day, and more than three hours on a day when school is in session...all in violation of the law. SPEND YOUR MONEY ELSEWHERE.

Stephanie Simmons

Very cozy casual atmosphere. Service was outstanding and the food definitely didn't disappoint. The cornbread with garlic butter was a great accompaniment to NoLA classics. The BBQ shrimp was the standout of our dinner and it was a huge portion.

Jessica Marie Allen

I don’t even know what to say about this place except it’s amazing! If you are visiting the city it’s a definite must try!

Words cannot describe how amazong the food is. Just go... Its impossible to be disappointed here. And thank the kitchen when You walk youre walking out, they work hard to make your plate rememberable.

Doug Twining

Swordfish is always good here, no matter how it is prepared. Service is always good and they really take care of their customers. My 2nd time here and almost feels like I am regular. Oh....great atmosphere here.

Paul Pounds

Not impressed. Portions seemed small for price. Flavor was muddled.

This is the place to visit in New Orleans. Great food, atmosphere and history. Expect a wait, but it's worth it. Jacques is the owner and quite a character.

Wow! Was here with a party of FOURTEEN and the service was INCREDIBLE! Servers were quick, friendly and we never had to ask for more water. Plus the food was amazing! I’m coming back to New Orleans just to eat at Jacques-Imo’s again haha

Julie Rose Dizon

Everything was delicious! Went with a group of 17. Service was great!

Went to Jacques-Imo’s for only the second time recently and absolutely loved the place. The drinks, appetizer, entree, and dessert were all 5 star. The food is as good as anything you can get in the city but in a laid back, eclectic atmosphere. The service was great and the staff friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back for more.

Sylvana Marcello

Never disappointing. Fun and eclectic atmosphere and amazing food.

If you’re looking for a reason to get up in the morning, look no further than their cornbread. Best thing ever. The alligator cheesecake is delicious. It reminds me of quiche more than cheesecake. The fried chicken is

Great food. Must have the alligator cheesecake appetizer!!

C Zimmerman

We ate the food too fast to take pictures. We’re so thankful the streetcar operator shared this local gem with us! Food and service were outstanding. Best we had on our whole trip. You will not be disappointed.

This was my 1st visit to the NOLA and this place came highly recommended. Hands down the best food I had during my whole trip ( which c'mon now you know the competition is stiff) them fried grits was EVERYTHING and I had the redfish which was so fire. All the servers were amazing, the place was well kept, I will def be back. Thank you so much for the great food, and the hospitality

I would return to New Orleans just to eat at this restaurant again. Initially, I only wanted to try the alligator sausage and shrimp cheesecake, but ended up ordering so much more! Thankfully, EVERYTHING was good and I am so glad I dined here.

Got several recommendations to stop in here while I was on vacation last week, and was absolutely not left disappointed! The staff was friendly, the decor was bright and colorful, and the food was absolutely delicious! Pictured is the shrimp and alligator sausage cheesecake, the boudin balls, and the duck and andouille gumbo. I ate the grilled duck breast for my entree. Everything was amazing!

First time there. It seems to be one of the places people enjoy, stayed busy, there was a wait and people did not mind the wait. Food was good, service was good.

Colby Taperts

Lived in New Orleans for 6 years, this is the best cajun style restaurant.

Robert de Best

Good food, good service, for us the portions were way too big though

Margaret Ling

To me this restaurant is everything a New Orleans place should be. Full or warmth, noise, tasty food, and friendly service. Our server Kristie was so sweet! Recommend the eggplant seafood dish.

Dawn K.

So much fun. Casual spot on Oak St in the Riverbend area. Their starter garlic cornbread is fabulous

Scott McGlinchey

Seated promptly for our reservation. Given specials by 2 servers, quality cocktails. Fried grit appetizer excellent, deep fried roast beef po-boy very good' sauce exceptionally. Potato crusted drum tremendous. Carpet bagger steak perfect. Grouper, outstanding, Duck cooked perfect, and delicious. Very good service.

Joseph Ordoyne

You can't order anything bad here. It's not for the light in pocket, or those to don't want there taste buds shocked with rich flavor.

Adam Pearce

Amazing food, amazing atmosphere. Great service. Expect a wait unless you come early Monday or Tuesday. Grab a drink next door at Maple Leaf while you wait if you go on the weekend. Any attire is acceptable. You'll find a menu with a fair selection of options that you won't find anywhere else. If you're visiting from out of town with friends, each order an appetizer and pass them around!

Abe Elsaeed

Great service and amazing food! So we came a bit early and thought we’d have to wait for the place to open! They let us in, sat us down and started taking our order 20 minutes before opening time. We had like 5 separate folks help out with our table, they were all very friendly. The place is extremely clean and has a super funky vibe. Ooh you walk in through the kitchen, which tells you they have nothing to hide!! We do t eat pork so we had the stuffed shrimp appetizer. Just fabulous!!! The Mrs had the NO barbecue shrimp which is possibly the best shrimp I have had.....ever! I had the seared drum fish, and it was amazing also. Possibly the best place we ate at during our trip to New Orleans. Oooh and save room for the creme brûlée.

David Cradic

Avery kept the drinks coming, the food came out quickly, and everything tasted AMAZING! I highly recommend alligator cheesecake and Godzilla.

Amy Brown

Went for a business trip dinner with coworkers and everything was great. Greeted with a smile, seated quickly at 7:30pm, had an efficient and knowledgeable server and the food was amazing. From Brussels appetizer to cornbread to oysters and our entrees, (fried chicken, etouffee, and friend drum fish) all outstanding!

Robert Stein

Excellent food, eclectic atmosphere, amazing service. Always a good choice and they didn't disappoint me this time. The brussel sprouts were simply divine.

david goldberg

Recently visited with a group of 12 friends. The staff was incredible with attentive service, great drinks and fantastic food. The charbroiled oysters were especially delicious. Would recommend hands down.

William D Henriques

I really enjoyed dinner here. The portions are big so pace yourself! There are so many amazing dishes to choose from I had difficulty selecting my entree so I just went with the red fish which is great but kind of boring for a local. I should have gotten the stuffed catfish which sounded amazing. I guess I need to go back. We got there at 5pm to beat the rush but it didn't really get busy (in the Summer) until 6 or so. They were very nice and actually let us get in early to beat the heat.
