Some of the best southern bbq I've ever had. Caution: this user has never tried Memphis, kansas, or Texas bbq. Your mileage may vary. The st Louis ribs fell off the bone and the sides were delectable.

It is good smokehouse fare. We had brisket, sausage, beans, Mac and cheese and Brussels sprouts. The meats were great and the sauces were good. The beans were fine, the Mac and cheese was pretty good and the sprouts were great. They were charred and tossed in a good sauce.

Pretty good barbecue. I had ribs, baked beans, mac and cheese, cole slaw and potato salad. The food was cooked fresh and made to order. Smoked flavors were very nice. The sides were good. The place is small and crowded and parking is hard to come by. Expect a busy place when you arrive and that is on any day that they are open. They have a full service bar. Food is served on platters.

Stop wasting your life and get the chicken and ribs. "Chicken and ribs" at a bbq joint you say? This city is built on chicken and Blue oak has some of the best. The ribs are almost perfect...and i dont prefer ribs. I love sliced brisket (blue oaks is their 3rd best meat...along with the sausage.) The chicken and ribs are amazing....not even close...also, dont screw up and NOT get the mac n cheese.

Highly recommend this place. Great BBQ food, but their sides and the drinks (my favorite is the olmec!) are great too. If you're with a group of four, or maybe three really hungry folks, try the "all meats, all sides"! The wings were spicy, which I like, the brisket was butter, and the pork is the best. The meat falls off the bones with the ribs. Great place to satisfy your BBQ needs. Great outdoor seating too BTW, and during jazz fest, this is not too far away!

The Bar B Que here is sooo good !!! Its not dry and the sauce is good . The staff is friendly and the place has indoor seating as well as outdoor seating . The ribs were really good . Make sure and buy a T shirt

Fairly easy to get parking in the area/along the streets but there are a few other restaurants in the area, all of which can get pretty busy. Food was ok. I wish they would have had a chicken option for the nachos. Its a bit more on the pricier side.

Best brisket we had in New Orleans. Ribs were fall off the bone soft and seasoned perfectly. The mac and cheese is strong with garlic, but was perfect for us. I definitlely recommend checking out Blue Oak, then the Joint on another night. The best in New Orleans!

This place is phenomenal. It was highly recommended to us by a local and it did not disappoint! For starters, there was no outrageous line to get in like in most other restaurants we tried to go to. We went on a Saturday night so we were quite surprised at this. Words can hardly do justice to how delicious the food was. My girlfriend and I both ordered the Smoked BBQ burger and a combo plate to share. The burgers were cooked perfectly, presented very nicely with our chosen sides. The combo plate was a good size, definitely enough for one person. The meats were cooked to perfection. Juicy and delicious but not smothered in sauce of any kind, just a great smoky flavor that really let's you enjoy the meat. The restaurant provides their own selection of sauces to accompany their food. They're all delicious and perfectly tailored to what comes out of the kitchen. I can't conclude the review without mentioning the staff. Everybody was so helpful and engaged in providing great service. I cannot think of one negative thing to say about this place. If you like BBQ this Blue Oak BBQ is a must!

First time visiting! The outside atmosphere, picnic tables and greenery were simple yet stunning. Inside was extremely clean and tidy with a western appeal and decor to it. I liked the windows to the kitchen as you waited in line. Even the kitchen was clean and tidy. We ordered the chicken sandwich with garlic macaroni and cheese, and the chicken fajita with banana pudding. The service was swift, which I never mind a wait. The chicken sandwich was thick but heavily coated. It lacked a lot of flavor. The macaroni and cheese were doable, but needed work with the flavoring. The chicken fajita tasted amazing with spice to it. The plating of the fajita was not visually appealing at all. The banana pudding was topped with watery whipped cream and sprinkles. Once you got down to the pudding, it was great! The pricing is fine for the meals here. The bathroom was clean also. Plenty of people were dining in as their lines constantly built. I would return to try something different.

Blue oak is always exceptional. They've got fast service, friendly staff and most importantly, incredible barbecue. This ribs are always perfectly cooked, the brisket is so tender that it's hard to pick up with a fork because it just falls apart. The house barbeque sauce is just the perfect flavor as well. And the prices are pretty affordable for what you get. I definitely recommend trying them out

Service was great. I like the ambience a lot outside. But inside you tend to feel rushed because so many people coming in and so many staff hovering to clean up your table to make room for the next guests to sit down. The gumbo decent and the fried brussel sprouts were really good. Brisket is just ok. Ribs pretty good.

Great BBQ the first meal I ate in NOLA it did not disappoint, quick Service. Great if you're craving some slow roasted great BBQ. The spare ribs were fantastic tender and the rub on them mouthwatering. The burger with brisket was extremely well made. The side of garlic Mac & cheese is the best Mac&Cheese I've eaten. Street Parking is easy it's not in a crowded part of town. There is a nice soda stand that serves snowballs across the street if you want some icy desert.

Food was good. Price was terrible. Got the brisket and pulled pork plate and it was 18.25 after the drink and tax. Their bbq sauce is very vinegary. Was more like a marinade than an actual sauce. Add to that the meat itself didnt have much flavor and I needs to pour a ton of the sauce on it to get flavor. Plus the sauces tasted like they were missing something. Might just be me though. Besides that the meat was very tender with not much fat (about what you would expect for the price) and the restruant had a nice atmosphere and friendly enough staff. The parking was also terrible along with inside seating. So I think my rating fits my experience. Not the best bbq in the city.maybe fourth or fifth. But for the price you'd expect the best.

Tried Blue Oak BBQ in an effort to expand our list of good BBQ places. That is exactly what were found here. Good BBQ, not great BBQ. Pulled pork was OK, but I was not impressed with the sides. When I eat a meal, I appreciate balance. When the coleslaw is spicier than the meat, there is no balance for me. I will add though, that the Cracklin was outstanding, enough so that I will probably stop there to buy more when I'm in the area.

This place is SO good! Reminds me of Sugar Fire in St Louis...I had the chicken salad sandwich with fried green tomato on it and it was amazing! Also had the brussel sprouts which were cooked really nicely with maybe a balsamic vinegar? My husband had the spicy pulled pork sandwich and mac and cheese. I tried both of his too! Everything was well done! This place is really busy but worth the wait and trying to find a place to sit. Just squeeze in somewhere! You won't regret it!

Came here after the walk at City Park. This restaurant only 2 long blocks away from walking. Provides indoor & outdoor setting area. Bar locates inside. Line for order was long but moved quite fast. Has happy hour deal for both chickens wings & alcohol. Affordable price. Meats were flavorful & lean so you don't feel guilty ordering lots of meats. Love the golden pig display at the corner of waiting line for order. Definitely worth the trip here.

RANDOM FIND OF DELICIOUS! We were hanging out at the city park when everyone's stomachs started growling. Pulled up mah trusty google maps and stumbled on this gem. Parking was great and seating was a bit crowded on a Sunday afternoon with some light rain, but managed to settle into a nice spot. The food was great. But half way through it got boring. Like I was tiring of eating it. Not full feeling, but like this is boring feeling. The macaroni and cheese had a great bread crumb crust to break up its monotony. Then the brussel sprouts were great, but could be less greasy. Now to the brisket the taste was nice, but not memorable. Same with the ribs. All was tender. Mild non committed flavor. Might be from pre boiling. Didn't eat the white bread.

This place always has dynamite BBQ. Their Mac and cheese is great, as is the brussel sprouts and their banana pudding tastes just like my grandma use to make it. Go early for the special cause it's always phenomenal and don't forget to grab a glass of whiskey or a pint from the bar.

The Pulled Pork made me want to slap my MaMa. I did the typical, I'm not hungry thing, and still finished my entire meal. The Pulled Pork with the House Sauce, macaroni and cheese, onions and pickles, bread AND the brussel sprouts. Please. The service was brief, but pleasant because I dined outside. The tables were clean and they had paper towels in place at each in case you go local and eat with your hands. This place is a gem. I've recently moved back to my beloved NOLA after going on a worldwide WALK ABOUT and I live on the Wank. It was totally worth the Uber. Actually, I'm sure I would've paid double.

Been meaning to get here for a while. Glad I went. Will have to go back. I heard I have to try the wings but when you go there.......GET THE BRISKET!!!!!!! I had mine a little fatty and they will ask lean, fatty, or no preference. I chose no preference but it was sooooo good. The burgers and nachos looked good. The ribs were tender and had a good bark on them. They have three sauces. The Jerk is good. Not a fan of the thinner Carolina sauces. The House sauce was good. The bar had a good supply of alcohol. I drink bourbon and they had a number of bourbons that I would drink and a few I want to try. The service is quick.....I mean borderline fast food fast. I want to try the wings/chicken, the sausage, nachos, and any sandwich with the brisket. Tell them Ree sent you.

It's also a price to expect for most places of similar type. Like you would expect from a quality BBQ place, the brisket is great. Their sauces are on the table and I prefer the Jerk BBQ sauce. Overall great place that I look forward to returning to on occasion.

Really like the barbecue macaroni and cheese. It's the reason I came back. The brisket burger is good. Had the croissont with brisket and fried egg which was good as well. Little pricier than a basic burger place, but you can tell the food is made with better quality ingredients. I also like the option to sit outside on the patio. A couple people had their dogs, so that is an option if you need to find a good place with your pup. Plus extra points for offering Barq's red creme soda

I’m gonna go ahead and say that Blue Oak is easily in the top 3 of BBQ spots in Nola, which was behind in the BBQ game for a while but has gotten serious in recent years. Some say that this place is THE crown jewel. Definitely worth the ride to the City Park area. On the Canal St streetcar line via City Park.

This is probably the best BBQ in New Orleans. For me it was one of the best I've ever had. Had a 3 meat combo plater (Brisket, Ribs and Sausage). All three were absolutely amazing. Brisket tender and juicy, Ribs fell off the bone and super delicious, Sausage was super flavourful! But what suprised me the most were the sides. That was by far the best Mac n' Cheese I've had so far. Had Jambalaya as second side and this also great! I can totally recommend the restaurant, if you love BBQ you will love Blue Oak.

People who rate this place highly have never been to a proper BBQ joint. This is a good example of how not to do BBQ. $20, three meat combo was a rip-off. Meat tasteless, full of fat, and small portions. Definitely not southern BBQ standard! $16 burger - do not believe pictures online - should have been transcendental for the price. It was not. Mac n cheese was dry. Potato salad was unrecognizable in taste and texture. Wine $9 for smallest glass of wine on the planet.... i could go on. We left hungry and will not be back.

The food is top-notch, service friendly, cocktails well-named, and ambiance relaxing. I've read reviews that say it's always busy, and maybe that's so. But tonight was nice. The brisket is good, but goes even better with the jerk chicken sauce. The roasted garlic Mac and cheese is easily one of my favorite sides; the garlic comes through nicely. The Brussels sprouts were a little too saturated in sauce, but my partner's we're less so, I probably got a bad scoop. They were tangy though. My biggest shout-out goes to the Leather Daddy (love the name). It had a large cube ice and delicious cherry. An excellent cocktail! To wrap: excellent casual date atmosphere with excellent food, cocktails, and ambiance. When it gets cooler I'll be sure to visit in the day time!

Excellent BBQ for the New Orleans area. I wish they gave me two slices of bread for the two meat combo but other than that I have no complaints. The pork and the brisket we're both moist and flavorful. For the sides I got the potato salad and mac and cheese. The mac and cheese was good but the potato salad needed more flavor in my opinion. They also support the military by offering a discount on food, I would definitely return year.

It was a beautiful day, and I wanted to sit outside but I don't like eating around dogs or dogs walking over to my table. When did it become the norm to bring you dogs to restaurants. Go to Bulldog with all that.

Had catering for about 30 guys, a video crew, at the convention center. Food was excellent and delivery (@$40) was worth it. My biggest challenge is keeping food warm for the guys. Blue Oak rolled up with everything we needed, packaged great and a rolling heater that kept it hot straight to the table. Only meal they had where it was still hot when the last guy ate. Kudos for doing delivery right and thanks for a great meal.

Love this place! Just wish my mac and cheese was hotter. I got the combo plate pick 3 with pulled pork spare ribs and chop brisket. My two sides were dirty rice and Mac and cheese. Everything was really tasty, well seasoned, and tender! My fave was the ribs and brisket.I will definitely be back ! You walk in and place your order before seating yourself. It’s a “ hippie” type of vibe. The margarita was okay but made with fresh ingredients.

Delicious, top notch food and service. Went for lunch with family and we were super satisfied!! The beef brisket plate was moist, tender and absolutely flavorful!!! My daughter ate the spare ribs soooo fast, so you know they were FANTASTIC!!! Wow, wow, wow you have to try this place recommend highly. The vibe was cool, the fans blowing mist while you eat outside on the benches was refreshing!!! Coming from NYC this place was a to go place. Guarantee you will eat seconds.!!!

We tend to go often, at least once or twice a month. The food is awesome. Last night I had the burger, it was juicy and flavorful. The cracklings are fantastic. The wait staff is great. Parking lot is small, we usually park on the street.

I’m always being lured into overrated hipster spots. I will never understand how “poor people” can afford to dine so lavishly. The service was good, the food was decent, but definitely not worth the prices. I’d rather get my bbq at a dirty mom and pop in a greasy paper carton. BBQ sauce, weird Brussels sprouts, meh Mac and cheese, good Brisket, was off Pulled pork, choice Pulled pork sandwich with the green sausage, AMAZING I’d probably go back for happy hour.

Do yourself a favor and get the variety plate to try 3 meats, and do yourself a 2nd favor and make sure one of those meats is brisket my friend! Great BBQ place! You definitely get the whole amazing experience of BBQ with a New Orleans spin to it! Outside seating with mist running the whole time made it comfortable, even in the heat!

The meat was delicious! The sides look rather small on the large platter, but they definitely fill you up. The wait wasn't long and the servers were friendly! I'm a bit disappointed that the bread included in the combo was just a bread slice and not like a small loaf of bread.

The food is good! Potato salad and the macaroni was different but good! Nice to have a break from the "traditional style ". Me and my daughter shared the beef brisket and pulled pork. It was the perfect portion for us to share! My boyfriend had the doobin, the brisket and smoked sausage sandwich. He said it was good,which I liked it as well. He really liked the macaroni and cheese. We will be back!
