Great food and nice historic house
Steak wasn't as good as previous ones I've had there. Server was a little slow in checking on us.
Great place to eat would go back again
Wow, what a selection of bourbon. From the outside the place is quiet and low key, but downstairs resides one of the widest selection of bourbons in KY, maybe US (jack rose?). By chance I met the owner, Larry, who was very kind and welcoming. A great place to get a Weller 12 yr and a great fried chicken salad to boot!
This place gets 5 stars because I can't give it 10. Great building, nice location, fantastic knowledgeable staff, great food, and the best Bourbon selection I have ever seen.
Pricer food that is good, but their bourbon selection is why I go. Try a flight of bourbon. My favorite is the Four Roses flight.
Sunday brunch was choosing menu items and then being told, "I am sorry, we are out of that". More than once.
I'd always wanted to try The Miller House, but I wasn't entirely sure what to expect. I didn't know if it would be stuffy or dated in it's approach to food, but I was pleasantly surprised. We followed the advice of previous reviewers and made reservations in the basement. It's a very cool environment downstairs with the famous bourbon wall and colorful paintings. We were seated at a high-top which wasn't the most comfortable, but we managed. The food was very good and a nice blend of classic and more modern. Overall, a very enjoyable experience.
This was one of the best places my husband and I have been to! The service was phenomenal, our waitress was so helpful and funny . The food... some of the best we have ever had .The sweet potato biscut is my new favorite thing! I was truly amazed at how good everything was and they change their menu in 2 weeks. We will definitely be going back, many times I'm sure .
Always so so good
Over priced and pretentious. Food is not worth the cost in amount served or quality and the servers think that "class" is dealing out second hand treatment if you show up in blue jeans.
Historic restored mansion with gourmet food and 700+ brands of bourbon.
Food was good, not great. Had a long wait time for the food. The atmosphere was nice and relaxing. Servers was welcoming.
Great food!
Steaks were not cooked properly. Rare was medium and medium rare was almost well.
Very nice ventage house with a great front porch to enjoy meals. The staff was friendly and the food was AMAZING. The only draw back was that the outside dining faces a busy street with the typical noise of traffic. But the atmosphere, the ventage feel, and food made up for the sound of the street.
Good food and a HUGE whiskey selection. The waitstaff was super nice and accommodating. Would definitely return.
A awesome experience! !! Love the charm of the old home cozy feeling! The bourbon room was amazing!! Oh, did i mention the food, to die for! So so good!! If you haven't experienced it yet, it's a must! !
Incredible place....even better bourbon selection downstairs!
Very good for an after Sunday brunch.
We ate in the bourbon bar in the basement and loved it! The atmosphere and food were great.
The best filet mignon steak I've had in 3 years, downstairs bar had great acoustics and awesome atmosphere.
The Almond Joy bread pudding was the highlight of my day. Hard to beat their Ribeye with the Kentucky Mule cocktail. Excellent service and bartender we're all great.
Their food is great! Best burgers.
Great food and atmosphere. Ask for the basement. Neat place.
The bourbon steward is dishonest and incompetent. I ordered a Pappy Van Winkle 23 and Jefferson 18, both top-notch selections. The PVW 23 is, of course, excellent, but their bottle of Jefferson 18 had a very obvious cork taint/TCA contamination; while it is more frequent with wines, it can happen to spirits too. I pointed out that the Jefferson had cork taint and the bourbon steward proceeded to outright lie and talk down to me and my fellow drinkers. She claimed that Jefferson is an all-corn mash bill (categorically incorrect) and that all Jefferson bourbons are nasty (scores of bourbon reviews to the contrary). She also claimed that "all bourbons are the same and only differentiate on aging and marketing." Which is it? Jefferson is all-corn or all bourbons are actually the same? I asked for her suggestion following that torrent of BS to see what she would say; she suggested Old Granddad, which is just awful in comparison to what we had been drinking. My group was comprised of four very experienced bourbon drinkers, one of whom is a Master Sommelier. We recognize cork taint when we taste it. Aside from the bourbon steward, the service is great. The selection and presentation will make your head spin. The classic cocktails are ridiculously good. The tasting room has excellent ambiance, although there is a weird moldering/stale smell that take a few minutes to acclimate.
Wonderful food and friendly staff. Excellent!
I had no idea this place existed and was glad we had the chance to try it. The grit sticks were so good, I could’ve just ordered those. The bar downstairs is quite impressive as well, but they won’t serve you the Pappy rye
What a great place for dinner and music!
Love the atmosphere. Best steaks I've ever had.
Best steak I've ever had.. literally!
Good food. Great atmosphere. A bit pricey.
Absolutely amazing food and staff, can't wait to go back!
We were very excited to eat at this restaurant after reading the reviews. We visited Owensboro from out of town. Sadly, we could not be more disappointed with the service, food, and drink. This was the worst service I have ever received in my life. It took 30 minutes before we received our drinks and my drink was incorrect. It also took one hour before we received our expensive meals. I ordered the shrimp and grits. I received a bowl of cold grits with a four or so luke warm shrimp on top. I left hungry and tired. I would post a lower rating if possible.
I went here during during business meeting in town. Food and drink was good. Prices are reasonable. Make reservations.
Wonderful brunch! Great selection. Superb service. Relaxing atmosphere. Stellar food. Lovely home.
Had the best T-bone my last visit
My Salmon was really good everything was exelent!!!
Wonderful food!! Great atmosphere!! Unique bar!!
Great food and atmosphere!
Best blend of bourbon selection and pricing that I have ever seen. Highly recommend.
Food is mediocre. Service is ok to poor. Staff is often rude, particularly in bar area. Over rated in general. Do stop by the bar if you are a bourbon drinker.
Always exceptional service and food.
Nice atmosphere and good food. Extensive top quality bourbon menu
Fantastic food and a great experience! Also enjoyed some great bourbon downstairs.
Perfect. We were visiting Owensboro and had several choices in where to eat. We made a great choice. The service was 5 stars on all accounts. I've heard of juicy steak, but I think this was my first one. Rock music, not loud, in the background. My wife and I agree, this place rocks 5 stars.
Wonderful I spilled my food on the floor and ate it tasted good!!!!
Very nice upstairs dining, nice bar and live band on Friday/Sat nights downstairs. It's an old house converted to a restaurant, so there isn't much privacy and can get a bit crowded and loud. Food and service are good.
Very good food. Pricing is fine. Bourbon choices incredible.
Best Bourbon Bar in Owensboro, KY.
Food was exceptional. We couldn't have asked for a more attentive waitress.
Excellent steak..great service
The food was amazing tonight!!
The Bourbon room is a neat venue, and the food is prepared and presented more elegantly than anywhere else within a 45 minute drive. Good mixed drinks. Wine list is the only weak link. Chic southern comfort cuisine at its best.
Food was great!!! Service was excellent. We really enjoyed our visit. We will be back next time we visit Owensboro.
What a unigue place. Great atmosphere. We sat in the basement in the bar area and it was beautiful. A lighted wall of Bourbons from end to end. We had Bourbon flights and everyone was happy. We had dinner which was fantastic. We have shrimp and grits, a gorgeous ribeye, and salmon, everyone enjoyed our night.
Restored historical home made into a nice restaurant. Has over 400 different kinds of Bourbons to choose from
The food, especially the fried green tomatoes, was delicious and the staff was wonderful. A return visit is a definite.
A very beautiful 100+ year old house that offers elegant dining. Terrific service and the food is superb. The lower level is a beautiful bourbon bar ranging from $3 a glass to north of $30. Definitely a must see & experience in your travels
Good food, excellent service in a comfortable main-floor setting.
Simply overrated. We went on I Sunday on our way home from a weekend vacation and The setting was nice but the food was just par and was a buffet style. In the day and age of constant competition being in an historic home doesn't give you the pass to have overpriced food I could have gotten at the shoney's Buffet.
Perfect evening, thanks Miller house for the best night ever.
Great local place. Cool setting in an old house
Awesome food super wait staff beautiful atmosphere
There once was a house named Miller that you may have thought a distiller! With bourbon on the wall for budgets big and small. The sampler and chicken are killer!
The food was delicious and the restaurant is beautiful. Only complaint is that I had to ask for silverware, even after our appetizer was served.
Very good food and average priced for a nice restaurant
We met the owner when purchasing a gift certificate and wee treated to a tour of the bourbon bar and a history of the restaurant. We returned the next day for Sunday brunch. I had a strawberry spinach salad, and when I asked for biscuits, our server said, "Would you like sweet potato biscuits or morning biscuits?" I chose both and double on the feather-light morning version! All were delicious. My handsome companion special ordered the Kentucky Hot Brown, a regional specialty with bread, turkey, tomato, bacon and mornay sauce, topped with bread crumbs and parmesan and broiled until bubbly and golden. He smiled and nodded and polished off the whole rich entree!
Myself and 2 colleagues in town for a meeting. Needing a place to dine, the Miller House was recommended. We walked thru the quaint downtown area and found this century home at our destination. At first I thought it was a funeral home but then the amazing smell of the kitchen replaced the would be formaldehyde. We walked up the front porch and was greeted by a young bearded hipster who suggested we descend to the basement bar. There we were greeted by the memories of a brick foundations most likely housing a coal cellar and boiler in a past life. However in more modern times it houses an amazing bar with arguably the largest selection of Kentucky bourbon I have ever seen. Now, growing up in the north I have seen mu share of basement bars but this one tops all. We were tended to by the lovely Aisha and Lindsay who's knowledge of local spirits was not only impressive but passionate. There recommendations were spot on. We dined on the meat loaf and the ribeye both of which were delicious. Having dined all over the world the food, spirits and service was second to none. If you live close by and have not dined here, shame on you. If you live out of town, jump in your Subaru (since there is no Uber in town) and partake in the experience.
Having read about the Miller House, my wife and I decided to visit hopeful for a dining experience. We were very disappointed. My wife had the Open Face Crab and found It not to her liking. I had the Crab Cakes; their taste was very fishy, the remoulade sauce was too hot-sauce-tangy yet still couldn't hide the fishiness of the crab cakes. The creamed spinach was so-so and the golden potatoes weren't very tasty. The service was good.
I'm dinging them a full star because my tabletop was sticky. That tells me that there are probably some sanitation issues in the kitchen as well. That said, the food was excellent quality and prepared correctly (apart from 1 or 2 potato planks that were a trifle underdone). We had the filet and the salmon. The salads were as fresh as I've seen anywhere, and much fresher than most. The sauces were uniquely created, but I suspect the Vidalia vinaigrette came from a jug - no bonus points there. The little cornbread cake on the side does earn bonus points. We were there for a sales presentation, so the meal was free. I checked the prices on their website and choked a little. Then again, quality costs more; this isn't Arby's after all.
Love the bourbon flight selections. Food was meh for the price.
Awesome Dinner service with friends Connie Cook and Janie Roberts
It was amazing. The atmosphere is great.
Ate downstairs in the bar. The Miller House has one of the best bourbon bars you will find anywhere. The bartenders are all friendly and know their whiskey. The food was great as well. This place should be on your list of places to go when visiting Owensboro.
Excellent food and service. Highly recommend.
Food was mediocre at best. The bar is great if you like rare bourbons it is a must.
Love the Miller House the dinner and the atmosphere was perfect
Best steak around
One of the best steaks I've ever had! Great old fashioned too.
Arguably the Best Burger in Town!
Enjoyed the salmon with sweet potato and green beans. This is the third time I've eaten a meal at the Miller House and this time I was in the basement bar area. Always good ambience with friendly staff.
Excellent Sunday brunch
Good food.
Fantastic atmosphere, and gourmet food! Too many times chefs try to create the gastronomic equivalent of a July 4th fireworks finale in their creations, but the Chef at Miller House creates flavors that truly complement the taste of the entree. The Southern chicken cordon bleu was impeccable all aspects seamlessly blend together to make a awesome experience. The chicken was juicy and tender the country ham, and gouda cheese are perfect and the crunchy coating was superb. I will definitely be visiting again and trying every menu item! I don't drink alcohol, but the Miller House is a Bourbon lover's Dream!
I like the restaurant bar and patio. I was very impressed last fall. They were the prefect setting for my friends daughters wedding reception. From the decor to the food, perfect. Would be my first choice for any type of reception.
Great food, excellent service, superb ambiance.
Great food. Beautiful restaurant. Fried green tomatoes are amazing!
Great l Brunch with my sister
If you've ever had a bad experience here, give it another chance!
A very unique menu and atmosphere :)
Always great food and an unmatched selection of cocktails.
Bourbon bar downstairs is great. Service can be slow, though.
Food was better than typical, but thought that the quality didn't justify the relatively high prices.
Incredible meal and great service. I would definitely recommend trying it out!
Service was good, ribeye and asparagus were good, but I've had better. We were there on a Tues at lunchtime and two of our party could not get ribeyes because they only had two available and me and another person in our party got those. They were also out of salmon and shaved ribeye sandwich meat. They told us, they were expecting delivery that day. Poor management of food.
Upon entering the restaurant the hosts asked if we had reservations. Since this was our first time and it was thrown together at the last min with another couple from out of town. We said no. At first there was a little hesitation but they looked through the books and made accommodations for a table of four and high chair. Service was spot on and friendly. Drinks stayed full during the whole service. Food was great. And reasonably priced.
Meals are always elegant at The Miller House and the prices are certainly reasonable. We eat here at least 6x per year and have never been disappointed with the food or service. Their salmon is excellent.
Great diverse menu (reasonably priced), well prepared, tasty food, excellent staff and the bourbon bar is well stocked. What more do you need?
Simply excellent. Great experience all the way around. I had the sirloin steak with a baked potato and green beans with the house Old Fashioned. Great food, great service.
Very pricey. Food was OK . great wine list tho....
Exceptional dining, highly recommend this historic location. Awesome bourbon bar in the basement, "Spirits". Don't wait, GO
Have never been disappointed with the quality of the food and the friendliness of service. Wonderful restaurant and a must-visit!
Awesome! Ate out on the patio. The food is always delicious and desserts are my favorite.
They have really nice people that work there an very awesome food
We helped these ppl with car trouble, they gave gift certificates to The Miller House and i hate to say it but ive had better food from a soup kitchen both mine and my sisters food was just plain nasty, greasy no flavor just not worth eating we ending up throwing it away. GLAD WE DIDN'T HAVE TO PAY FOR IT..
Food was great, service was slow.
Great food nice staff
We had a large group we had scheduled and they were prepated for us. Food was good, service was great.
The miller house is excellent, probably the best place to eat in Owensboro
The food was delicious. The Kentucky Mule had the perfect amount of bourbon. The waitress was a little aloof. She couldn't keep orders straight, forgot to take orders for a couple people at our table until we flagged her down.... But I'm going to give her the benefit of the doubt and say it was due to the size of our group. The environment is cozy.
Food was delicious
I love that the menu changes seasonally so there is always something new to try. But those sweet potato biscuits are always delicious! They have one of the largest bourbon collections in the tristate. Only downside is parking.
Great food and experience! We had the NY strip and open face hot crab and enjoyed them bith. Server was friendly and attentive as well. Will definitely be back!
Good food and great selection of bourbons. The downstairs bar is cozy and friendly.
I've been here many times, a lot of those times while entertaining customers. I personally have never had a bad meal here. My meals have always been excellent. It's a little pricey but worth it in my book.
The food was excellent. The atmosphere very cozy. The wait staff was great.
Great food, reasonable price
good service....good food....downstairs has a great feel/atmosphere
Staff great.
Great food, good time in a beautiful setting. Will definitely be returning.
My wife and I had dinner here and thoroughly enjoyed the food! I loved the fried grits!
There pork chops are the best....
Great meal. Wonderful service by our favorite waitress, Carol.
Had sons rehearsal dinner there. Food was awesome and staff was great
This place is amazing! It is not fast food, but it is worth the wait. The atmosphere is cozy, the bar is unbelievable, and the food is hands down the best in the area. The chef modified the normal bene for me and made this Steak Bene that was out of this world! My wife had the Chicken and Waffles and the chicken was homestyle fried and delicious. This is our new favorite restaurant!!
Food and service was fantastic. Very slow though. We were in town for a conference on a Tuesday night and it took an hour go get our food.
Great food excellent service excellent chef
Very upscale restrurant a little pricey but food is good
The special was Lamb. It was cooked to perfection.
I went here with my parents for Mother's Day. Very nice atmosphere and nice food. We had the yearly buffet that they normally don't have but 2-3 times a year. I really enjoyed it!
Love the basement setting and the awesome bourbon selection!
The staff, the food and atmosphere is amazing.
It was different
Staggering number of burbons in a relaxed atmosphere
Solid southern food. Great green tomatoes. Little expensive but not too bad.
The wait is always a little longer than I would like, and sometimes I think the waiters bring your food and then forget about you, but the food itself is some of the best in Owensboro. The restaurant itself has a great atmosphere too, especially the bar downstairs.
Beautiful place very romantic upstairs and down stairs is the bar part both up and down stairs are very cozy also very expensive food but a beautiful place and amazing food
Great brunch. Really nice atmosphere.
Great food, great atmosphere, really good value.
Great food, amazing bourbon selection, and the owner, Larry, is an awesome guy.
My single experience here--an anniversary dinner for my in-laws--was not good. Reviews are mixed. I'd give them another try and would like to visit the bar area for cocktails.
Chose to bring my family here for my Mother's Birthday on Sunday, it was her first visit. As I was dressing my burger I noticed a long coarse hair sticking out from under the cheese. I instantly lost my appetite. The manager took it away as soon as I mentioned it with no apology or explanation at all. I had no time to mention my appetite was gone until 15 min later when they said they were plating another burger. Very bad experience. We will not be returning.
What an experience. Surperb food and atmosphere
Food was good and the selection of drinks was amazing. Check out the basement!
Located in an old small mansion, has an interesting history. We had a table four which was located in a small upstairs room along with another table of four made it very cozy. Food was very good, we had a variety of items represented at our table and we all enjoyed our selections. Service was a bit slow which caused us to alter our dessert selection by noticing how long it took the other table to get their dessert.
The food was outstandingly was the service!
Ambiance and great food, do not miss the bar for bourbon!
Great food with friendly and Beatifully restrored building something
Have had a wonderful experience every time -- love that the menu changes seasonally, food is always exceptional and prices are reasonable
Great little place. Enough table room in and around. Easy conversation with friends nothing over bearingly loud. Perfect food
We went to the Miller house for a ladies gift exchange. The food and service were excellent. Highly recommend.
Food was delicious and the staff were great. We enjoyed our meal and will return if we are ever in this area again.
The restaurant is beautiful, the service is excellent and the food is always consistently good. The downstairs bar has a great vibe to it and the bourbon selection is second to none! What's not to love!!
Fantastic place. Great bar.
One of the best Bourbon bars in the world is in the basement. No, not joking. A simple fact. Make sure to reserve ahead of time (preferably a day or more before!) if you wish to eat down there, even on weekdays! It's where you NEED to be. The atmosphere is amazing, the number of Bourbons in the cases jaw dropping. The food is excellent too, but make sure to taste a Bourbon that will never hit your lips again while at the Miller House.
Very good service and great food.
