Passed by numerous times, finally stopped in for a HUGE disappointment! Outside looks like a cozy cottage that is inviting...inside is like a Mexican restaurant. Thought I was getting a old fashioned home cooked meal, everything our table ordered was deep fried and probably bought from Krogers frozen section. I ordered the shrimp basket dinner and received 6 overcooked shrimp and 8 tater tots...for $12! My son had the country ham dinner...the ham steak was withered and so thin, I would have been ashamed to serve it. My girlfriend had a sandwich of some kind that was dripping in grease from being deep fried. Been there, done that...will not be back and definitely will not recommend this place to anyone!

Was thinking of taking my family here for the first time. I called to ask about reservations and was rudely told to call back at another time because she was slammed. I’m sorry, if you don’t have one minute to talk to me about your establishment, then I don’t have time to visit your restaurant to give you my business. To the owner: I highly recommend that you train your staff to be kind as you never know who may be trying to give you their business. So Unfortunate.

Food was brought to us in a clean, efficient manner. Everything was accurate as claimed on the menu. My mother-in-law recommended this place and if you can please her then you've got something going on. Silverware was clean, water filtered and tables neat and clean. Napkins were folded. Portions we're substancial, waitress was neat and clean. This place is open for business.

We celebrated my husband’s birthday here on Jan 19th.. and I have to give 5 stars ( I’d give more if I could!!) There were 17 of us, including children... it was wonderful.. from the way they were so accommodating, to the delicious , inexpensive home cooked food, to the amazing staff!! Our sever, Kayla was terrific.. she never once lost her cool with us. Our orders were all correct, served in a timely manner , and hot!! We were permitted to bring in our own cake, which they kept in the back for us, then, at the right time .. the cake was brought out, along with the whole staff.. which clapped and sang happy birthday to my husband!! And when they weren’t busy elsewhere in the restaurant, the server and hostess would talk to and help entertain the children, letting us adults have a more relaxed meal! What can I say... if you are looking for good, home cooked style food, with excellent service.. this is the place to dine!! You aren’t made to feel like customers, you’re made to feel like family!!!

A local favorite for good reason. Excellent food, excellent service and dedication to the community. Our server this day was a true gentleman who could serve in a five star restaurant. He knows the menu like the back of his hand. Leads off with informing us of the specials of the day. From there it seems we are his only guests. The meal seemed to flow since he predicted everything we wanted before we knew it. The food is always delicious. Parking can be a challenge during busy times.

Everything has gotten smaller! The catfish fillet that we come for is now half the size of what it once was. The green beans looked like It's from a can; the bake beans are smashed; the hot slaw is floating in vinegar (less cabbage). The roast beef is good though.

Sam Bronson wears many hats at this employer. Not only is she a fantastic server who is professional and friendly she also serves as manager of the servers along with other duties. The cottage is so lucky to have her working for them. She keeps all her customers happy and I, myself come in to just sit in her section. The food here is reasonable and is home cooked and alot of the local people frequent here often.

This is a place I had been wanting to eat at for a while because I have heard so many good things about it. Unfortunately that was not my experience at all. Tables that were seated and ordered after us got their food first. In fact, they took so long to bring us our food we had to ask for boxes and the check when they finally brought the food. Now for the food. Nobody in my family likes fish, so it was a big surprise that chicken and the pork smelled and tasted like fish. When asked if they use the same fryer for everything, they said "we don't know,maybe it was cross contaminated". The other food tasted like seasoning has not yet been introduced to this part of the country. Everything was so bland that it was hard eat. I would never recommend this place to anybody.

We had a wedding rehearsal dinner here on Thursday. The food was awesome but the service was even better. Charmaine and her daughter served us and I could not have been happier. We always have a good meal here. This is the only olace I know that has good veggies. Lima beans, beets, and free cookie on Wednesday. The pies are great; fruit or cream pies. Lemon marange is the best. (Can't spell it right. Even spell check can'r spell it)

Overall a great little place to visit. The outside does cast an appearance of an upscale restaurant, but I assure you this is a quaint little diner type of restaurant. Stop in and try it out.

Wow. If I could have given 0 stars I would have. WORST FOOD I'VE EVER HAD. I ordered the Bluegrass Special, and it was gross. Eggs were runny (I ordered scrambled), "home fries" were just boiled potatoes (nothing FRIED about these fries), and the meats (bacon and sausage) had absolutely no flavor at all. Oh, and to top it off the pancakes were microwaveable pancakes. This was my first time trying this place and I will absolutely NEVER try again.

Atmosphere is relaxed and comfortable with private areas to boot. Located right on the Dixie Highway means you can not miss this jewel. A must for breakfast anytime. A must stop while in the area. Highly recommended.

I had high expectations for this place but was a bit disappointed. The fried chicken breast was very juicy and I should have ordered more of the chicken items. The biscuits were a bit dry and not very flavorful. The service and people were extremely nice. They allowed us to sample the gotta before ordering it to make sure we would like it. If you are familiar with Philadelphia scrapple, it is similar to that but with more oats to give it texture.

He said the gravy tasted like the instant gravy packet you get at a grocery store. We asked the waitress and she said it's made from scratch. For some reason, it didn't taste like homemade gravy...

43 minutes still don’t have food. You’d think you could get eggs & bacon to a table in 43 minutes. No type of management skills to get food out when busy at noon on a Sunday. Will never be back! If you have less than 1.5 hrs to eat this is not the place to stop. 2 people playing hostess and 1 person passing out Hersey kisses you’d think they go help the kitchen staff but no they rather do very little, now at 51 minutes waiting on eggs & bacon...

Old time cooking done right!! It may not be the healthiest choice, but WOW is it good!! I ate just about everything on my plate! We had the country fried steak, liver and onions, pork chops and buffalo wrap at our table and each of us loved our food! The parking is a bit difficult as it’s all on a slope, there is a door in the back to enter so you can come down a flight of stairs. If you are walking impaired, you must be dropped off at the front door. Everyone in my group will return and loved our visit!

Nice old-style comfort food. Went for breakfast around Christmas, and service was excellent, food was sublime, and the charm of the old property is quite enjoyable. Lots of goetta options, if you're not familiar - it's a German thing - pinwheel oats and pork, made into a sausage-type patty. Yum!

Everything was just ok. Staff was decent, but waitress took a long time to refill water and only did it after requesting. Fried chicken had nice crust but not very flavorful. Overall, it was just average. The vegetables (cabbage and carrots) were totally flavorless and over cooked. It seemed to be a good place for seniors who may need more tender food and not a lot of salt. The dinner roll was a Sister Schubert one that was relatively cold.

We tried this place for the first time based on the star review. However, 5 stars it is a joke it’s not even close. The floors were dirty and when we could see into the kitchen it didn’t look much better. Our food took forever to come out and then the pancakes were so flat and rubbery I couldn’t eat them and they tasted old. Bacon was black. (It’s pancakes... how do you screw up a pancake??) So not worth what we spent.

Colonial Cottage is yet another storied eating institution. They have a way of making it about so much more than just the food. It is a cozy, comfortable place to take in all of the best comfort you could ever want. Their fried chicken is as good as any that I have ever tasted! Their menu is full of great dishes just like your grandma used to make you. Their sides are all homemade and you can taste it! The service is well above outstanding and the prices are more than fair. This is a must stop! As always, Enjoy!

I ordered the Colonial cozy(I think that was what it was called). 2 strips of bacon, sausage gravy with 2 biscuits, & 2 eggs. The sausage gravy didn't have hardly any sausage in it 2 flavor it. I put quite a bit of pepper 2 help it out. Eggs cooked properly & biscuits light & fluffy & bacon was crispy like I had ordered it. They don't have any breakfast specials & I felt the prices were a little higher than what they should be, but it was a stick to your ribs breakfast. Coffee wasn't the best. The creamer they offer is extremely weak. I normally use 2-3 creamers & I had to use around 6 to even lighten my coffee & the coffee was not a rich coffee(I felt it was a cheap brand). Made me wonder where else are they cutting corners.
