Good service for a group. Salad bar is very basic. Soup was good. Bread pudding with bourbon sauce... well, they forgot to tell us it was BYOB because the bourbon was completely missing!

We drove 4 hours to eat at this place and it's SO worth it! The all you can eat buffet is about $25 per adult, but worth every penny. The staff was amazing! And our waitress even gave everyone a 6 pack of the yeast rolls to take home. The rolls were my absolute favorite! I'm a vegetarian and I still loved this place. I'll most definitely be here again!! The place is absolutely beautiful!! Oh...and the bathrooms were spotless! The gift shop was great too. It felt like a vacation instead of just dinner.

It's good for a southern family type buffet, but definitely not worth the$30 for all you can eat and drink. I believe that is because it was Easter Sunday and it included the tip.

Finger Lickin Good! This place was the highlight of our trip. The food was excellent and service was very friendly. The salad bar is the best I've seen offering a ton of items. (Almost too many because it is easy to fill up before even getting your food). The fried chicken was great. The atmosphere is very warm and makes the meal even more enjoyable.

I have heard and read many good things about this restaurant and none of it is true from our visit today. This was our first and LAST TIME we will never go again. The service was awful and the southern style cooking was let's open up some cans goods and make instant potatoes the customers wouldn't know the difference . We never did get a waitress, management came after I complained to a passing waitress. Do yourself a favor go to Golden Corral or Cracker Barrel to get better service and food for a lot cheaper. This was a waste of money and time since we drove from Louisville.

I had heard so much about the hot brown but was so disappointed. The server was totally awesome however and brought me something else. The food was half hot half cold..I really tried to make it positive experience the service was so good. I will say the chicken and dumplings were the best by far I have ever had. I would go back and just order that.

The food lacked flavor except for the chicken. The dining room wasn't clean. The staff wasn't all that friendly or attentive. The deserts were horrible. The chess pie had the consistency of pudding. While trying to fix a plate, I was cut off by staff while I was walking. There was no excuse me, they just cut in front of me and other customers.Things have taken a turn for the worse.

I’ve heard mostly great things about the restaurant, so the wife and I took her family there for dinner tonight. They’re from out of town, so we were excited to take them somewhere new. Unfortunately, it was a very disappointing experience. The waitress acted like she knew nothing about the menu. We waited long periods for refills when the restaurant was practically empty. My mashed potatoes were somehow forgotten and the waitress acted disgusted when I politely asked for them. The food was average at best. We won’t be returning.

Had a great time here. We came from Lexington and took the scenic route by taking 60 all the way to shelbyville. It was a beautiful building and it was just as nice inside. Greeted by a huge staircase as you walk in. Theres a nice little gift shop and a bar/lounge upstairs. The dining rooms are big open ballrooms for for large crowds. The food is exactly what you would expect. Good southern comfort food. They start you off with the best dinner rolls you could imagine, the southwestern spring rolls were to die for and they had an amazing hot brown. We didnt have enough room for desert but they had a great selection. Our waiter was very good and polite and almost made you feel at home the way the engage in conversation with you and have a good time as well that is if your home is a huge elegant mansion. Definitely will return.

This was my first and last time coming here. The service was horrible, and the food was very mediocre. For a place that specializes in fried chicken, you would expect it to be juicy and flavorful. Instead, it was bland and dried out. The rolls were probably the best thing I ate. Everything else was forgettable.

Had been there for my Birthday about a year & 1/2 before & had The Driest piece of pork that I've Ever had in my life! Didn't send it back bc I was Starving but anyway, I'm sure both Harlan & Claudia Sanders would flip in their graves, if they knew how this place is run, with their names attached! Sad...

Claudia Sanders Dinner House has amazing food and a fantastic soup and salad bar, which you can order as a meal. Some great southern dishes too. If you ever find yourself near Shelbyville, Ky, it is definitely worth stopping for a meal....or two. Best bread pudding (on the salad bar!) I have ever had. This place is a hidden treasure.

We had the individual entrees instead of the buffet. We were seated in a large room that wasn't very fancy. There were other areas in the building with more ambiance. The food was good and the wait staff was good. We didn't have to wait to be seated. It looked like they could seat large groups without any trouble.

It was really good. Tons of food for the price with a lot of choice. It could be good for a date or a family dinner. They have buffet, all you can eat dinners, or single meals and specials. My husband and I ordered the all you can eat fried chicken dinner. It came with 4 sides, started with bread and soup or salad for $15.99. To be honest, it was sooo much food, we couldn't eat seconds. We had the corn pudding, mac & cheese, apples, mashed potatoes and gravy, and he had green beans. Service was great too. They also had a little gift shop.

I have to say that I am a little disappointed by this place. I had high hopes going in. I mean this restaurant was started by the Claudia Sanders, the wife if Colonel Sanders so it has to be good food. Let me start with the menu itself. Maybe I'm OCD but there were a bunch of spelling and grammar errors on the menu. Next, front and center the advertise the family dinner, which includes a variety of options. Now being advertised as a family dinner one would think you may be able to share this meal in some fashion. Well not here. It states in bold letters "No sharing please". I mean what the dickens. I have never seen this before, ever. Maybe it's for a reason, because at a restaurant maybe people want to share their food and share the experience. To me that statement was a slap in the face. Thankfully our waitress let it slide and allowed my wife and I to share. The food itself was below par. The fried chicken tasted like it had been in the freezer for far too long. It was dry on top of that. The green beans tasted straight from a can. The "glazed" ham seemed to be lacking the glaze and it smelt of and I kid you not, dog food. On the plus side the soups were actually pretty good, especially the tomato soup. The staff did their best and I can't fault them especially since we had a large group. They were friendly and helpful. The best part of the whole experience was the exterior of the building. It it a beautiful building on the outside. The landscape is great and well kept. It makes for a very picturesque spot.

My wife and I had a wonderful time at Claudia Sanders Dinner House. I first visited this establishment over 30 years ago and was enamored by the food and the dining experience. During an excursion to Louisville, I recommended we visit the dinner house. I was pleased that the food quality was the same. There were plenty of options on the buffet, and everything was delicious. We had a wonderful server named Tiffany. The ambiance was not quite as homey as it was in 1985. But this could merely be a matter of personal preference. While I enjoyed listening to the classic pop music, something less boisterous would have made the dining experience feel more like dinner out rather than a wedding reception. Again, that is just personal preference. Otherwise, I highly recommend Claudia Sanders!

The outside of the building makes you feel like your at a nice southern restaurant. The inside is like a golden corral. The rolls were amazing but that's it. The chicken tasted like plain flour on plain chicken, the corn pudding was like grits with cream corn, the livers were Ok but honestly it was all bland, lacking flavor and texture. I've had better food at a hospital.

It was good. The staff was super friendlyAnd checked in regularly. Our water glasses never got below 1/2 without someone politely offering a refill. Our empty plates were quickly removed. They were there and helpful without being intrusive. The food was good too and delivered quickly after we ordered even though it was Sunday Brunch Derby Weekend and they were quite busy. Our did was exactly how we ordered it. The bread was devine. Warm, fresh and super yummy. Definitely recommend having a meal here.

The first time I ate at Claudia Sanders several years ago it was pricey especially on a holiday but I was hooked. The chicken was great the sides were good. The menu was a bit confusing but it was not a big deal. Our server and everyone else we encountered were friendly and efficient. I went there many more times, some of them with visiting family members. They all loved the food and the buffet was awesome. The last couple of years the food quality was not very good. The sides all tasted like they were from a can and the chicken was not what I had come to expect from Claudia Sanders. After our most recent visit I have decided that I will not be returning.

The food was great! The service was horrible. Yes, they were busy. But this was way beyond just busy. We waited for every step of service way past a normal amount. Had to ask for everything twice (three times for silverware) and waited 20 minutes when we were done for a small to-go order (that they knew we wanted from the start) and our check. Very clean, family atmosphere and a great menu. Prices are a bit steep, but the food is great. The all you can eat chicken meal is 15.99 and comes with 2 pieces to start, along with 4 sides and a soup or salad and bread. Btw mock oysters there is eggplant casserole and had no taste at all. Corn pudding, green beans and chicken and bread were great. Macaroni and cheese looked great but had no flavor. Was like eating warm noodles with strep throat: smelled good but no taste.

I attended with the Kentucky Youth Assembly which was a massive group of roughly 600 people. The food was good even though they were serving a large mass they were suprisingly able to seat us all which was impressive. We were given a buffet style offer so I don't know about normal menu items or if it is always buffet style.

Waited forever to be seated at 12:20 on a Tuesday. The line waiting to pay was 7 people thick. Probably only had one host/hostess working, and I never saw him/her. Finally walked out and went somewhere else. I am on my lunch hour during the week, and they are habitually slow to seat people. If you can seated, the food is good.

Has really changed from table cloth, fine dining days but still better than many chains. If u order the family dinners u get several all u can eat veg dishes. Creamed spinach good, but several like beets and corn pudding too sweet for me as well as cornbread. Yeast rolls and veg soup really good. Not what it used to be but very affordable, varied menu so will return.

What is wrong with this place! Okay their food is very good. What is with this radio station playing Rock while sitting in that type of atmosphere that actually resembles some type of Left Behind cafeteria. The bar upstairs is putrid. Who would go upstairs and sit. The tables that we try to sit at 4 to be exact. All wobbled. I've been there before in the evening when they had some game on and a couple of people sitting at the bar that look like they had been sitting there most of their lives. I asked if there was a bartender and they told me yes in one of the patrons got up to go get them. The tables downstairs are torn up looking the pain is cracked and chipped off. I must say since I was there last time they did repair the floors in the dining room. Come on folks your food's good how about a little bit of ambience in this place. Either decide if you want to play rock music or decide if you want to be a family dining establishment. I would love to invest in a place like this if it wasn't for such poor management. This would be a great place for a restaurant! I must say though as you are walking to the bathroom and there's all types of cabinet shoved over in a corner in your shoes are literally oh, yes literally sticking to the tile floors is a little bit gross! Will I get a to-go order from there. Probably. Will I dine in again, very very doubtful. I think they're wine and beer prices are more than reasonable I had a wonderful Guinness Stout for $3.50! and my husband had a top shelf bourbon and it was very reasonable. But I'm sorry I'll pay a little more money when I go out to go someplace that's nice. And Claudia Sanders to me is just not.

Jasmin ruined our first experience! She was extremely rude and in my opinion should not work in hospitality. She counted a one year old and a two year old in order to automatically add tips to our bills. We are all very good tippers, in fact, had she done a good job would've probably made more. She kept rolling her eyes and sighing, every time we ask for anything. She forgot our straws and when we ask her for them, she just threw them in the middle of the table. She never brought any napkins even though we asked several times. I heard her tell a co-worker, " I am so done with this table." We were polite!! It wasn't busy! We couldn't figure out why she was so nasty to us. Then when we got our bills we knew...it was because she had already added $22 worth of tips for 5 adults and two babies. We will not go back! Ask for anyone but Jasmin if you want a good experience. My chicken was cold and the breast was dry as can be. I got my bread pudding when I got my salad. I took a few bites and left it... When she gave us our go boxes, I scraped the last few bites in there instead of throwing it away. She started yelling at me telling me.. you can't do that..I'll get FIRED! People were looking at me like I'd stole something! She was horrible!!!

Not greeted upon arrival. Stood around at least 5 minutes before hostess appeared. She said she "go see if she had a table" and disappeared again. There were a lot of empty tables. This was about an hour til closing time. When she returned she and cashier had conversation about seating us and a party who came in after us. She came to us and explained she had a table but she didn't know when we would get food, as she had seated others 30-45 minutes earlier and they hadn't gotten food yet. We might have hit a bad day but we didn't feel very welcome and left.

Worst experience with take out order ever. Placed order for 20 wings and potatoes skins. Asked them to repeat order on phone she said 20 wings and fries. I corrected and said no it's potatoes skins. She said that's what we call. So I get there. Pay $14.29 plus $2.00 tip. Got food and it was fries not potatoes skins. So I told them it was wrong they go back and fix it. 10-15 minutes later it's ready. They asked me to sign a new credit card receipt for $19 something. Well I'd already paid $14.29 I refused at this point they got a manager that said it was fine to do it and I wouldn't be charged twice. Which I didn't feel comfortable doing. At this point I'd been their 20 minutes and manger refused to give me food unless I paid a difference. I didn't feel I should because again not my error. But she was rude and wouldn't budge luckily I had $3 in cash. I will never go their again. They screw up and blame the customer. Also the credit card receipt signing a new amount seemed shady. Sad because they have good wings but never again. Also food was cold at this point and no ranch or blue cheese came with wings but least of my concerns.

We had a good time! Good plentiful food, outstanding service from the staff. Great place for large groups/family. We had 15 in our party.

Great food & great service on Father's Day! Great buffet, but not everything had a sign saying what it was. I asked a near by employee & they usually knew what each dish was (or had a good guess). Family seemed happy with their buffet too.
