What a gorgeous restaurant! I went for lunch with my husband today and I just fell in love with the gorgeous dining room, the rustic decor and the delicious food. I enjoyed the brioche chicken sandwich, my husband had the steak entree and we shared a cookie. Everything was delicious. I can't wait to go back!

Great fine in Kansas City Wonderful atmosphere, sort of homey. Great concept only open for breakfast, lunch and brunch on Saturday. Food was excellent, we had a loaded Bloody Mary and Eggs Benedict, on Saturday. Bloody's we're very good, slight taste of spice...just right and loaded with shrimp, bacon and celery. Very good Eggs Benedict, not your average concoction just a little bit of a twist. Check out their bakery items.

I went to The Russell for the first time shortly after Christmas. Absolutely loved it, as did everyone in our group. The restaurant has a great aesthetic, with cool and quirky decorations that make it more interesting than your average lunch spot. The food is also much more interesting! I got the burger with roasted vegetables on the side. Top notch, and so nice to have that option instead of chips. Others raved about the salads and the tacos. They also had a nice selection of drinks and pastries. The service was super friendly and efficient. Can't wait to go back!

Got the steak and eggs, partner got the BLT. Both were very good and there was a lot on the plate. A little over priced but you’re definitely paying for great quality here. Looking forward to getting the biscuits and gravy next time!

Everything was so fresh and great. I had a side salad and a grilled salmon toast. The salad was not so boring like other restaurants. The salmon toast was tasty and filling. The owner and the staffs were very nice. All in all, I enjoyed my lunch. I wanna go back to try some other dishes and the desserts!!

I had the quinoa salad with salmon. The greens and quinoa were fantastic though the salmon was overcooked. I wasn't too worried though as this was the second day they were open. I will definitely go back as my dining companion had the tenderloin and it looked great so I will have that on my next visit.

Hands down my favorite place to eat in Kansas City, and that's saying a lot since we have so many great restaurants. The food tastes like it came straight from your home kitchen, without a bunch of added preservatives and bad oils. I never feel bad after eating here. Everything I have eaten is here amazingly good and well worth the price tag. I also love the atmosphere. Very grateful for this place! They are doing it right!

I had the salmon avocado toast for $12. It was exactly what I make at home all the time, but it was only 1 pc. and a bag of chips. I was a little sad at the proportion versus the price of this entree. Esp. when I saw the value of my husbands meal. He got the sumac steak which was a huge proportion for $15. Lots of steak on it! The food is definitely prepared really well! I definitely just thought my lunch was overpriced for what I got.

We ate here for the first time today for brunch, and the food is amazing. We ordered the andouille sausage, shrimp and cheese grits with peppers and onions. The Steak and Eggs and The waffle with bacon. The price for the food was affordable. The amount of food you get for the price makes the trip, meal and spending the money well worth it. The staff was amazingly friendly and the atmosphere was perfect. The fresh cut flowers were an awesome touch. The simplest thing is sometimes the best thing. They are doing it right here. This is a total must try!! Oh!, and the scones were to die for!!

I had lunch there today and it was excellent. I had a steak sandwich that was delicious. For a side I had the tomato bisque that was equally scrumptious. My cousin had the same steak served as a salad with a side of fingerling potatoes and brussel sprouts. She loved it. It was quite large and she took half of it home for dinner.

One of Kansas City's best local restaurants! Ran by Heather White and Amante Domingo, The Russell mixes rustic, wood-fired preparation with fresh, quality ingredients. There's something for everyone on the menu. Surrounded by nostalgia, The Russell's ambiance has a curated mix of antiques and greenery that makes you feel like you are somewhere familiar but new. Love the vibe! A staple for lunch for me is the Roasted Root salad (add salmon!) for when I need something a little lighter or greener, or the Steak Chimi sandwich when I need something a little heavier. Don't forget brunch, they have one of my favorite dishes for brunch Steak and Eggs! Each dish has it's own unique burst of different flavors letting you know the chef has paid attention to every ingredient detail. Do yourself and the local community a favor and visit The Russell!

Its hard to set up a wood fire grill Right next to the infamous Gates BBQ. That being said this upscale dining establishment means buisness and will win your heart, with decor and execution of brilliant cuisine. would recommend. Price's are higher than most main street fair but for a reason. Check it out.

We finally went to The Russell for a private dinner party. The Russell is named after the flower shop of the same name that formerly occupied the location for years. The staff and chef did a wonderful job preparing a buffet of cheese, meats, vegetables, hummus, desserts and drinks. The grilled veggies we're crisp and flavorful while the smoked meats were tender. The venue is down to earth with antiques and a 'farm' feel. We look forward to going back for Saturday brunch, they only do brunch on Saturday and give the staff Sunday off.

I was here a long time ago and haven't actually been back since. But one thing I remembered about this place is its outstanding service. The place had great interior decorations. The day I was there there was something wrong with the ovens so there was a lot of smoke in the dining area. But the waitresses hospitality more than made up for the bad smell. They explained the situation to us and offered us some complimentary food as compensation. The food was also very delicious. I highly recommend this place.

Food was good, really fresh, creative, but a little bit limited as far as length of menu, but keeping in mind it is more of a lunch spot so that's alright. Average $9-$12 a plate. Environment was cute/modern/hip but a little bit overkill. Lots of seating and a pretty short wait for food. Will probably try again some time, but not a new absolute favorite.

The Russell on Main has nailed it! I could eat here every day. It's one of those places you almost don't want to review so you can keep it to yourself! Wonderfully welcoming, rustic yet refined, and the food is delicious! The atmosphere and decor makes you want to stay and lounge for hours and the food makes you wish it was open for dinner. The staff are very friendly and clearly love where they work. The steak on the salad was so tender and flavourful, I picked some up to take home the next day. The chimichurri was the best I've ever had. Quality ingredients, lovingly prepared. They have cold brewed ice tea on tap and a great selection of wines. The pastries are also perfect and not too sweet. The Olive Oil Sea Salt Chocolate Chip Cookie is my new favourite. I watched them prepare some catering plates - these items weren't on their menu but they should be! The Russell will definitely be on my call list for our next event.

Great place for lunch or brunch! Mediterranean Shrimp Bowl, Steak Chimi and Chicken sandwiches were all delicious, great meld of flavors in each. Also really enjoyed a few pastries for dessert. The rustic/industrial decor was very unique for the area. Overall a fabulous experience.

Quite possibly the best brunch in America, maybe the USA, probably the world. We ordered the steak & eggs, breakfast tacos and a chocolate scone with coffee and every bite felt like transcending into Heaven. Sound dramatic? It is. But this meal was that good. Vibe was also super cool and hip, but who cares when the food is this good?! Cannot wait to go back next time I’m in KC!

Best Salmon Steak salad I have ever had. The Russell has a really neat relaxed vibe going on with the laid back staff and farmhouse type decorations. The day was hot and I wanted something light and refreshing and decided on the Salmon salad with Miso dressing. Look, it's weird to get excited by a salad. Maybe it was the perfect thing for my appetite at the time or maybe this is the best salad in the world; I dunno. I do know that I'm. Looking forward to being in Kansas City again so I can try more of their menu.

Terrific salads by chef Janet Ross! Fresh, crispy, tangy and sweet flavors meld together in a perfect harmony. Salmon was grilled on the open fire (they don't have a stove!) and it was incredible.

My husband, daughter and I had a wonderful experience! Not only is it a darling little restaurant but the food was killer! Would highly recommend the steak sandwich and bourbon bar. They were also very accommodating as they brought up a changing table so I was able to change my daughters diaper in the restroom, privately. Total win!!

It was efficient ordering but there were no tables available so we ended up splitting up our party of 6 after waiting for a while. Popularity is sometimes challenging! On one of my many business trips I needed a good and fast lunch. I travel more then 200 days a year around the globe. I ended up in The Russell on Main Street. It was an amazing experience, the staff was super friendly and the food was amazing! I had the Steak Chimi and was blown away! I actually went the next day back to try something else, and again it was a fabulous and delicious experience, I could not resist to the gluten free chocolate brownie to finish, I am Belgian and a chocoholic and I can tell you this dessert was like I was eating Belgian chocolate! The Russell is perfectly located. I was driving and there is parking in the front and in the back, both private open parking. I wish every city I travel too has a place like this!

Saw this was open while driving by. Stopped for breakfast. Interior design is very inviting. Bathrooms clean and unique, with common hand wash area and lavishly scented soap. Nice touch was real silverware, real coffe mugs. Oddly the plate was plastic which seemed out of place with rest of the items. Food presentation was top notch, unfortunately the eggs and bacon were cold. Wonderful location for breakfast place as there aren't any in the area. Menu short on breakfast options. Price is high for value, but inline with atmosphere. Will patron the restaurant again, to vote with my dollars for local restaurants and to help it stay in the area.

Everything I've gotten here is so yummy, fresh, and appropriately portioned. Great salads and sandwiches, especially the bread. The baked goods look amazing, as do their specials. Although it's usually crowded I haven't experienced competition for a table. Modern, trendy, and rustic - the space is gorgeous! Really beautiful and thoughtful design for a daytime restaurant.

My daughter and I went for brunch. The menu is limited but the food is generally very good. I didn't like the side salad that we ordered with the BLT sandwich, the waffle was delicious. You order from the counter and are given an old license plate as your order number. We enjoyed our meal, and I plan to go back for lunch.

The food is extraordinary - fresh, rich and tasty, the service is equally good. An extra touch: I went to the Russell one day after just being turned away and berated by another bakery that didn't have our promised order ready. Desperate to find something quickly, I remembered The Russell. As I was gazing into the cupcakes, the owner spontaneously came up and thanked me for my business. She had no idea what had just happened, of course, but it was such a nice thing, to be appreciated for your business. They were able to bail me out of the tight spot and threw in a couple of extra cookies as a "thank you!" Bravo!
