Grand Street has a unique cuisine that appears simple but turns out to be quite complex. Combining unusual flavors that delight the palate and please the eye. Couple the amazing kitchen with impeccable ambiance and service with the mixologist and the in-house-made dessert made it a fabulous dining experience! Highly recommended.

Great place for a date night. On this particular visit we were notified that they were out of spaghetti, which seemed odd at first, but since they make all their pasta fresh, it's an acceptable excuse. Since it's not an Italian themed restaurant, no big deal, wasn't going to order spaghetti anyway. The service was outstanding and the dishes we had we all delicious. Will return for sure.

Rented the banquet room for my son's rehearsal dinner this month (Sept 2014.) The meal, set up, and service were AMAZING. Our guests could not stop talking about how great everything was. The restaurant is so elegant. It was truly an impressive evening all around. Highly recommend.

We did as we had threatened in previous visits; we ordered and ate only appetizers. We each ordered one item and shared those. We still took home food. Their appetizer menu is so different and so much better than any other restaurant we have visited. We appreciate eating in the wonderful bar area as well as being able to reserve a room for a special event. The waiters and waitresses are the topnotch.

It was like she didn't want anyone to order their steak medium.. it either had to be medium-rare or medium-well ??? Also had an issue with the chocolate/rasberry tort. They took it off the bill.

Amazing atmosphere. Very classic style in the restaurant and welcoming host. Seated immediately, but seemed their was an issue with server’s designated location initially but my friend and I didn’t mind since the menu looked exquisite. When the waiter arrived he provided an overview of the menu and let us know that their menu has just been updated for this fall. So many amazing menu items that it was hard to chose from. We ended up ordering two pasta dishes - both were absolutely amazing and also split a side of fried Brussel sprouts. Pappardelle which is a sweet corn cream, jalapeño, charred corn, shrimp, basil, and goat cheese and Garganelli which is scimeca’s italian sausage, pepperonata, spinach, basil, Gorgonzola cream, pecorino. After a delicious meal we couldn’t help but order a dessert. So, we finished off the night with Phyllo Wrapped brownie which was oh so good and a Lemon Poppyseed Cheesecake. Both were so delicious and worth ordering. Can’t wait to come back!

Fantastic food here! Was not dissapointed in anything, especially not the service, which was top-notch. Get ready to drop some coin, or come in for a special occasion, they are on the high end price-wise, but that explains why you get perfectly prepared food and excellent service. Try the salad with hangar steak, it was so tender that I could have cut the steak with a spoon! We will be back here again for sure.

Don't get me wrong the salmon was impeccably cooked... crispy pan seared yet tender...$26 for salmon. And portion size is so perfect.. no take home.. shucks. It was a great meal, so treat yourself!

My girlfriend and I ate here the other day and really enjoyed our experience. I don't often start reviews with the service, but Micah was outstanding. I had a question about a nearby shop and he didn't know the answer, but went so far as to call them up and inquire about my question. Not related to the food, but he went above and beyond with his service. As far as the food goes, it was great. We started out with the crab wontons and that was the only minor complaint we had. They were a little lacking on filling. I had the halibut which was moist and flaky, but also was paired with arancini that were crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside. My girlfriend had the pork, which she was excited that it came with hominy; however, unfortunately, they were out. Micah recommended the mashed potatoes and they certainly did not disappoint. I would definitely return.

Empanadas had very little filling, crust was very hard. Prime rib tacos were ok. Tuna Tartare was excellent as were the potato skins. Deviled eggs were terrible. Service was ok, server felt the need to talk about football, after politely declining the desire to.

Meh. Nice enough place but for me salmon on quinoa with caviar wasn't a real home run. The volute (fabulous sauce) mentioned in the menu was scant as a spoon drag under the pile of boiled birdseed my salmon came on. Pairing caviar with salmon, well you'll never think salmon is fishy again.

I have been to the location this restaurant has on the plaza, and I have to say that one is excellent, and I think this one is even better! The layout is a bit more spread out, and gives a more intimate feeling. The food was amazing, everything we had was top notch, our server was fantastic and overall we just had a lovely evening. The portions are huge, for the money there's easily two meals no problem. I'll definitely be going back, and definitely be having my leftover pork chop tomorrow!

I am in love with this restaurant. It's the most beautifully decorated restaurant in the area, possibly in all of Kansas City! The service has always been great, and oh. my. God..... the complementary cinnamon rolls they give you prior to Sunday Brunch are out of this world!!! This is a great hidden gem that's rarely overly packed.... I definitely recommend it!

I want to love Grand Street. But, I came away disappointed. We (my husband and I) were there for a late lunch. Only about 5 tables had people, plus one if the private areas. Our waiter didn't bring water to us for at least 3 to 5 minutes after we sat down. Which, for us isn't a huge deal. But, when he did finally come to the table he tried to explain away his absence by telling us about the large sorority girls reunion party keeping him busy. We only ordered drinks at first. The waiter, we could see, roaming the restaurant, hanging out in the kitchen area. Our appetizer (the tacos which were tasty) came and was completely finished before we were able to get our waiters attention again to ask where our drinks were (that we ordered way before ordering the app.) He told us the bartender couldn't be found. He continued to say, "I'll go make them for you. Though, I'll get in trouble with my manager." The drinks weren't very good. I couldn't drink mine (we still played for it) and ordered something different. Then, we got a different waiter. The timeliness of visits improved with the new waiter. But, the stage was already set, sadly. So our 1st, and most likely last, visit was not good. I have to say the brownie dessert and my chocolate martini was AMAZING. Everything else was just okay. If the service hadn't been so bad, I think our experience would have been totally different.

I've been to Grand Street a handful of times now for Happy Hour, and everything on the menu is great. The pretzels are fantastic, and the tacos are absolutely killer with the sauce that comes with it. Drink specials are very reasonable as well. I'll definitely be coming back!

We rented the private room at least a month in advance. Wedding rehearsal dinner. 15 or 16 people. The staff forgot drinks, dirty looked our guests when they asked 35 mins later about 1 of the drinks. Under cooked the bride's food, forgot a whole meal of one of the guests and forgot his beer but didn't say anything after seeing how the other person was treated. Took 2 plates to box up at the end, dropped both boxes then brought them in like nothing happened. Forgot to box up the father of the brides dinner so he got the box and did it himself. The food and the drinks the people got were good enough but the service was garbage.

Nice setting in Lenexa, food decent as well. Our server was also nice. I'm giving 2 stars from my experience with the manager/staff on Saturday morning for brunch. Restaurant was nearly empty and could not get their attention to address a concern. Waving arms and calling out as they laughed and joked about something in back. In any case, as I brought this up with them while leaving, and nothing was offered to correct the situation. Likely won't go back.

I brought a group of 21 for a luncheon at Grand Street Cafe. Everything from reservering a private room, to having a beautifully set up room, to excellent service, great food, and all our needs met with a positive staff (Rachel and Shi) made for a delightful luncheon. I would highly recommend The Grand Street Cafe, in Lenexa. Also, the restaurant itself is very attractive and comfortable.

We went to Grand Street for our Valentine's date, and we had a perfect experience. Our waiter, David, went out of his way to make our evening special and take care of us. Our drinks were perfect and our meal was so good we had to clean our plates. Great venue for a date or special occasion!

Great local place. We go here all the time for lunch. Prime rib tacos, the pretzel fondue, and duck potato skins are must try appetizers. They have a server named Dave that we really love, but have yet to have a bad experience with anyone there. Piece of advice: make reservations for dinner as it can get crowded. Lunch is walk in.

Went for Valentine's Day, accommodated us earlier than our reservation time, provided exceptional service with a smile, and served some of the best food I've ever eaten. The restaurant has a modern urban feel, with a visible kitchen. From the bar, we had a lemon drop and a Moscow mule. Both drinks were perfect. The mule was made with Tito's Handmade Vodka. For food, we ordered the mushroom spring roll appetizer. This had candied garlic and a garlic honey drizzle, which tasted incredible with the fondue sauce and mushrooms. Dinner we had butternut squash ravioli and the buttermilk chicken sandwich, which were both very tasty and came in generous portion sizes. We tried the roasted cauliflower as a side, which was delightful. The atmosphere is loud enough that you feel like you can have a private conversation, but not so loud you have trouble hearing people at your table. Tables are far enough apart to give a very open spacious feeling. Desserts were perfect. We had Valentine's specials, but, based on all the other food, expect the standard dessert fair to be well worthwhile. Our server went out of her way to ensure we were comfortable, our special requests were accommodated, and that we were able to make educated decisions about what to order. Ticket price was exceptional for all the items we had; everything was priced reasonably.

I have been a fan of Grand St. Café for years, but my experience this past weekend exceeded all expectations! I have food allergies and I know what meal I can have there, with a few modifications. The meal is always excellent and what makes it better is that my favorite server, Ashley, always remembers my order - modifications and all! I love impressing my friends when I come there by showing them how wonderful Ashley is. So, this past weekend I had plans to come in with friends for my birthday dinner. I called ahead to ask about the dessert menu to see what could work with my allergies. The chef, Kevin, talked to me and assured me that they would take care of me. He even called a few days later to let me know that they were making a special (allergy free) dessert for me. After my amazing dinner, I was presented with a flourless chocolate cake that was incredible! And Kevin even stopped by the table to make sure I was happy with my dessert. Excellent food every time that is only made better by the wonderful service there!

The food was outstanding at restaurant week. We go there because of family friend Emily A. who is a top tier general manager in Kansas City. The chef, Mitchell is a craftsman in the kitchen. The pasta and salmon were fantastic and the appetizers were perfect. 5 stars!!

We have been here before and the first experience was terrible, but we are believers of giving everyone a second chance. They failed! First, the Hostess. You would expect when you make a reservation, you would be seated in a nice area of the restaurant... nope.. right in the middle of all traffic space. Second, Wait staff. Extremely Rude. The waiter rushed us through the whole dinning experience! The person who brought our appetizers just dropped them in front of us, and he said “Here!!!” The appetizers were ice cold! Drinks were good. Dinner was OK, and thats giving it more credit than it deserves. They need to work on their wait staff who was awful. When you spend that much money you expect something better than McDonald’s or Burger King service!
