Grand Street has a great atmosphere for a business lunch where some privacy is necessary while enjoying a succulent menu and conversation!
We looked at a good many of the wedding facilities in the wedding books and wedding promotion fairs either on line or through personal visits. we kept coming back to The Grand Street Cafe on the Plaza as our favorite. It has a clean modern look and plenty of space for tables, meals, DJ, and 2 bars, so no waiting. When we contacted Elliott Taylor she was very upbeat and professional throughout the entire experience. she obviously enjoys working with people and knows all the ins and outs of weddings. She was excellent about keeping in touch with us through all the stages of planning including the actual reception. The staff was excellent in friendliness and following her directions and being helpful in every way at the main event and afterwards. This is a very professional operation and Elliott gave us many tips on how to have a beautiful experience. Everyone loved the food and we had a wide variety of tastes and ages. The venue is beautiful on it's own and the fully prepared restaurant Chef and staff kept us from worrying about a "fly by night" operation that might go out of business before the event took place. We were so pleased that everything turned out perfectly on the Big Day due to Elliott"s diligence and great staff at the Grand Street Cafe Plaza!
My husband and I went here for our anniversary. The atmosphere and service were fine. The food was overpriced and not very good. I ordered the salmon and asked for it to be cooked medium. It was so over cooked that the crust was so crisp I could barely cut through it. The rice under it was dry and bland. My husband ordered Bill’s chicken salad and asked for salmon instead of chicken. They charged him the full price of the salad and $9 for the salmon. We expected to pay additional, but not that much. We were very disappointed and will not be going back.
I've heard raves from my family about the food, and I was not all that impressed with the food taste. The presentation was beautiful, the service excellent, but I was expecting to be rocked back on my heels. In their defense, my allergies are terrible and may have ruined my taste experience
The meeting space is a simple, open venue. No frills.
The drinks were decent, once they arrived. I'll update when our food arrives... food was good. We just had terrible service on a Saturday when the were very few other guests. Perhaps they aren't accustomed to parties of 15, even when you call in advance.
Normally a good place for food and drinks. Even with a reservation well in advance of our arrival, this Black Friday was not thier night. We were a party of about 12 and they were unable to serve us without several mistakes to our orders. Largeish parties shouldn't be that confusing, and several of the dishes were improperly cooked. The server had a bit of an attitude and improperly described a dish as an appetizer when the restaurant had intended it to be an entree, confusing us greatly as we were served two large plates at a time. Certainly not a faultless or smooth service.
Atmosphere and service were very good. Burger was requested "no pink", it was not as requested. I did not have the time to send it back.
Beautiful building, delicious food, attentive staff
Happy hour specials are priced right and tasty
Really great food, but prices are a bit high for what you get. Bill's Chicken Salad makes a fantastic lunch, and the Buttermilk Fried Chicken Sandwich is good as well.
I got the shrimp ceviche and it was impeccable. The staff was amazing and took care of us. I had to give a shout out to them and the cooks. It's really worth it to here so come on out and enjoy!
Good food... easy parking....
The food is always good and the atmosphere is comfy but classy. I was attending a business luncheon today so no choice on the food but it was still great.
Wonderful relaxing place
Excellent food and service, options for vegetarians. Quiet enough to talk. I would go back.
10 out of 10 in my book
Although this place is a little noisy because there is no noise dampening ceiling, the food is always excellent. The wait staff is always excellent and very pleasant. One thing not to miss is their Sunday brunch buffet. Excellent in every way. Their filet mignon was absolutely marvelous.
Always a pleasure. Great ambiance. Excellent and prompt service by friendly and knowledgable wait staff. We have gone several times for dinner which has always been excellent. This time we went for happy hour and it was equally enjoyable with discounted drinks and great food selections. Will certainly go back.
Fun and classy. Good bartender.
Food is delicious!
Nice place
Had a great experience and our waitress was outstanding. I would give our experience a 4.9 out of 5. Their Philo brownie is as good as has always been.
This place is lit! Na really though everything was delicious and the wait time wasn't bad at all. Servers were gorgeous and knew the menu and its items. Will definitely be going back!
Good food & great Happy hour.
Great Sunday Brunch
Love it great food and service
Always an epicurean adventure! Service is beyond compare. Sam and Shaley were exceptional.
We used Grand Street for our rehearsal dinner of 75 guests in the Plaza West Room. Logan Mitchell, event coordinator, was amazing with prompt communication and willingness to accommodate special requests. Sean Walsh, the banquet captain, on duty the night of the event, facilitated and completed with ease the details of the event planning. The venue was elegant; appetizers, entrees and dessert delicious.
Excellent food and service. Great place!
Terrible terrible service!!! This was my first time here and it has left a bad impression on me!!! I'm disgusted with our waitress Brittani who snatched a ticket out of an elderly ladies hand. I was applaud!!! Never ever again. I wouldn't eat there on someone else's dime.
Great Sunday buffet. Appetizer buffet is small but healthy items. Nice selection of entrees which can be ordered with the buffet or not. Buffet includes dessert items, too. Full bar, my favorite is the Bellini or Pomegranate martinis.
Great venue for a fundraiser. Excellent wait staff and tasty food.
Been going there for years. Great food and service. Menu changes enough to keep the dining experience interesting
Great gourmet food. Come here all the time for dinner and lunch.
Everything was very professional, and perfect, with the food they're being just not only delicious, but a very perfect American meal complete with asparagus, potatoes, some really great dishes with chicken, and a fantastic salad. I was there for a presentation from a high level US ambassador, and the IRC international relations council Kansas City, and this location to Grand Cafe is truly a grand experience with really nice scenic view of the Kansas City plaza downtown Kansas City Missouri. It was a precious experience and wonderful Cafe for this event.
Very good food! Nice place to eat.
Absolutely amazing, beautiful atmosphere! Delicious foods! Fabulous dessert! Love thus place.
Good late night food!
My husband and I hosted our son's wedding rehearsal at Grand Street Cafe Plaza. First, Logan Mitchell was fabulous to work with. I contacted Logan numerous times with questions and she was always kind and helpful in every way. The food, service and party room were excellent! I would highly recommend this venue for any event.
Wonderful atmosphere and exquisite food and service
I truly enjoyed this cafe that we used for our Christmas party venue. The staff was very professional, the food was outstanding and the drinks were nothing less than perfect! I would recommend this place to anyone if you havent visited!
The food was excellent!
Food and great atmosphere
Always a great meal. Wonderful service.
We had brunch here. The food was very good. The buffet however was minimal.
grand street cafe is a great place to grab your favorite bottle of wine, or a mixed drink from the bar as the chefs in the kitchen cook up their spin on tonight's flare. Sunday there are great 4 dollar drinks to help get any dinner started in the right way.
Went there for a Corp. Event. Good food, nice view
Service was great, drink were really good and the food was amazing. Everything was wonderful. We never waited long for anything. A lovely place for a meal with friends and family. Very nice ambience. Looking forward to trying the new menu.
Food was GREAT! Nice private room. First time I have been there.
Incredible food, Erika seated us & waited on us, what a talent. Great meal & they do events there as well, pricey but worth it.
If I could live off of the Deviled Bacon Eggs and Potatoe Skins I would. I'd order out from here every day. But since I cannot, I will continue popping in for happy hour unexpectedly. One of the best happy hours around. Excellent for sharing plates. It can get quite bustling, busy, and noisy. Lots of "eyeing" going on too. (Back in the day we called it "See-and-be-seen") Very contemporary decor and vibe. Overall good. Service though can be hit-or-miss. We either get a very cheeky bartender who doesn't realize when not to interject into guests conversations, or an aloof one who needs to be flagged down so we can order. Either way, food is always on point, and timely. Martini Mondays, too.
I contacted the restaurant on Thursday before Mother's Day to ask if I would be able to order a special pasta for my mother that is 82 suffering from Alzheimer's. My mother and I had lunch once a month for 10 years prior to her illness, she absolutely loved the pasta dish with chicken--so my sister's and I wanted to do something special for my mom on Mother's Day. Kaylen? The person that I spoke to said that I should call back on Mother's Day, there would be no issues if I placed the order on the morning of Mother's Day. When I called to order the morning of Mother's Day, as instructed, I was told they would not accommodate the order. The person who took the call asked the owner specifically and we were denied. What a terrible disappointment after my efforts to confirm their ability to accommodate a special request for the most important person in my life.
Wonderful Mother's day brunch buffet
Clean facilities, great food, wonderful staff, premium parking.
Always a favorite when down in the Plaza. A nice quiet restaurant with great food options. Also, management stops by the table to ensure everything is to your liking with friendly conversation. It's also nice to have nearby parking outside for the restaurant which makes it very convenient.
I wrote a review on their website. Okay food, terrible service. Concerns about service were answered with attitude.
It lived up to all the hyped! Great Food! Great Service!
Beautiful venue
We reserved the back room for a birthday party of 22 and they set everything up nicely. We were assigned 2 servers, one was in a terrible mood so she barely helped and send annoyed that we wanted to order anything. The other server was buried since she was basically the only one working. Most of us have up and went to the bar to order drinks the entire night. The food was good and the venue is nice but service ruined the night. The younger, grouchy server actually sat behind the bar complaining and telling other servers how miserable she was which was fun to hear when we went to get the drinks she refused to help with.
Wonderful waiter named Michael. The food was fabulous. Candied garlic should be on everything. Truly.
Pretty pricey, but well worth. Had Sunday brunch. Bring an appetite!
Nice restaurant with great food. Our table however was in a hallway and not particularly enjoyable. Will go again, however but be seated in the main dining area.
Nice Staff. Great food and elegant venue!
There for a seminar and the food was great.....Gordy's team gave a great SSI seminar
Every time I visit the Grand Street Cafe the food has been excellent quality and quantity. The service has been impeccable. Sunday Brunch is one of the best in town.
Was a great experience! Loved the instrumental music that is perfect and doesn’t distract from conversations! Highly recommend them! Ask for Micheal he will take great care of you!!
Brunch is fantastic! Service is excellent and well informed staff make dining a pleasure. Lovely surroundings and lots of natural light make for a wonderful and relaxing experience. Private room is a gem. Everything I’ve ever eaten here is tasty. Highly recommend
Excellent service & delicious food! Highly recommend for events or dinner.
A nice clean city attraction that I stumble upon unexpectedly.
One of my favorite go-to place has fabulous food fabulous staff and just a wonderful atmosphere. And I love their Saturday afternoon happy hour
Buffet was not as well stocked as it should have been for 32.95.
The back patio is great!
Excellent selections, great food, fantastic service people
My wife and I really like this restaurant. We always enjoy the food and service is excellent. They were short staffed today but our waitress did a good job anyway
Great atmosphere, great food, great service. All-around terrific experience.
We had an event for about 75 people. The space is beautiful. We had full bar and wonderful appetizers for our guests. The venue is in a great location. The staff was very helpful with everything. Will definitely return for future events!
I live the KETO lifestyle and the waiter suggested ordering from the menu PLUS going through the buffet for shrimp and vegetables. It was the perfect solution for me! I brought home the menu steak....rare, and ate my full of DELICIOUS vegetables and shrimp while there!
All I can say is thank God that server Rick wasn’t there when we ate today. Worst server I hsbd encountered. If I am ever stuck with him, I will probably never eat here again!
I had the pork chop and Mac and cheese. The Mac was okay but not as great as it could have been. That pork chop was TO DIE FOR. SO GOOD!!! It was huge and juicy and cooked all the way through. Deducting a star because of the Mac quality. Service was great, and they handled our large party well.
Phenomenal filet mignon! (For the medium rare of course)The potatoes complemented the dish very well. Great cocktails! The espresso martini is not one to miss if you're into dessert cocktails. I would highly recommend this restaurant to host and event , date night or just a treat to self.
It was fantastic.
Very classy place. Amazing food. Great crowd and very awesome service. Is a KC MUST when in town.
As a event decorator and as a guest my experience in this venue was great! Very friendly staff and delicious food. I recomend the venue 100%
Bridal shower.
Great food and service
Unfortunately, at the end of our meal. A mouse ran in the private dining area and near our table. It was horrifying! The food was tasty, but we won't be returning.
Upscale and fun place to go. Just off the plaza, you feel like you escaped the craziness of downtown in this nice little corner.
Grand Street patio on a beautiful day is the best place ever for happy hour! Their chicken so called nuggets which are huge, their pretzel and apple with cheese sauce, their prime rib tacos, and just about everything are terrific! The six of us had just a grand time!
Hubby and I visited for their amazing brunch many Sundays ago, so when in KC with my mom, I took her for a Friday dinner. While very hard to please, my mother loved it (phew)! From the corn meal encrusted trout, to the cute server and fast service, she was happy. Made my weekend.
The staff was very professional in setting up the wedding reception. They filled our cups without the need to call them over.
Excellent food - crab cakes were delicious! Peach pie for desert was GREAT!!
Great food, excellent waiter and service, a private room for our party. Free parking too!
We've been a few times. 2/3 times have been great experiences. Our last visit wasn't the best as it was very early in the lunch service and the staff / kitchen wasn't up to speed yet. Our food wasn't quite right and our drinks went empty for a long time. I think the staff was late in getting their daily prep done and our service was sacrificed to it. Oh well. We'll go back again, I'm sure.
INCREDIBLE WEDDING RECEPTION!! Grand Street Cafe was so amazing and incredible for our wedding reception! Working with Logan (Event Coordinator for Grand Street) was a dream! I started the wedding planning journey about two years ago and Logan has been there every step of the way! She was very timely and open to ideas. She answered emails and texts non-stop! I always felt that she was working in your corner and always had my back. When my wedding day arrived, everything went so well! The space, appetizers, meals, and alcohol were so amazing and literally the best wedding meal a lot of my guests have ever had! The flow of the space works with all guests and is so easy with the private parking garage underneath the restaurant. Seriously, I'm so happy I went with Grand Street! I will for sure have another party there soon and I am recommending the venue to everyone I know!
Great bar for drinks with friends, or a Sunday brunch spot. Also a great patio for the summer.
Great place for lunch with a friend. Delicious and creatively served food. Attentive and helpful staff. Our server, Michael, made sure everything was just right. Prices higher than what I would typically spend on lunch, but were okay for the location.
Not a broad menu but the items they offer do taste great. Service is attentive. Location and ambience are not the clearest
Went force baby shower and didnt even know they had all this venue space. It is beautiful inside and just right for a small event
Visited it more than once and was really happy with their food and service. Their menu changes regularly which seems to be fantastic! I always enjoy my visit here and I will be definitely coming here again.
It's very popular, particularly for groups. The happy hour food offerings are varied and interesting. Very reasonable before 6p.
Grand Street has been a solid companion of off-Plaza dining for years and years. The food is always consistently amazing, and the service is great. I frequent their event space for fund-raising events and education luncheons pretty much exclusively but I have also dined in the restaurant. I'd say I'm here two or more times a year and I always look forward to the visit. Also, to this salad, which is perfection.
Our family enjoyed a delicious brunch...with several breakfast selections. Everyone enjoyed their Belgian Waffles...as well as the warm cinnamon rolls they brought around to our table...and the brunch bar items (fruits, vegetables, salads, and a large variety of desserts). Very nice!
Great place for a party
Bill’s Salad is the Best!
Great,experience!
Great place for a fantastic meal and quiet atmosphere. I have a hard time hearing people talk when there is a lot of background noise. The furniture and the material that covers the walls minimize noise similar to a recording studio. Well done!
Good food.
Excellent service - I always get a Bills Chicken salad! So good
Great place for Thanksgiving! Will do it again.
Unique different food! Great service and yummy cocktails!
Great brunch buffet.
Great atmosphere and great food - and Lauren the bartender is absolutely awesome!!
We have been loyal Grand Street customers since this location opened. Last night we stopped for dinner - which was okay. Here is what I want to share, though. We ordered dessert and cheese cake for our child but realized that it was spiced cheese cake which we did not believe he would like. He is not a cinnamon lover. We asked the server to change the order to strawberry short cake. Our table was visited shortly after by the manager. She advised the chef had already made the cheese cake and basically demanded that our child eat it or one of us so they didn't have to throw it away. She went on to say their strawberry short cake wasn't that good - it was basically just a 'hard biscuit' laying on some strawberries. Hmmmmmm.....interesting. We have had the strawberry short cake before at Grand Street - that does not align with our recollection but oh well. So in brief - we had to eat something we didn't want to appease who is obviously an emotionally fragile and temperamental chef. Folks, this wasn't a 36 dollar filet - it was a piece of cheese cake. So - a word to you all. You exist because of the customer - without the customer you don't. We will think long and hard before we travel to your location again. We were treated badly and did nothing wrong. Shame on you.
Food is always amazing and unique.
Very nice but not overpriced restaurant, with creative versions of American food. The main problem is that despite being by the Plaza, it's hard to find and doesn't look like a restaurant from the outside. Trust your GPS on this one! It does have plenty of parking.
The food and the ambiance is amazing!!! A five star all the way for that! Our server was good at first. At the end of our service, we told him we would like separate checks. He fell short of throwing a temper tantrum! Very upsetting that he single handedly killed our experiance.
My boyfriend and I went to brunch for the first time. The spread was amazing, and everything was so delicious! The staff was super friendly, and the restaurant was beautiful. Highly recommend!!
I had my wedding reception at Grand Street, and it was AMAZING! The staff was incredibly helpful and great to work with throughout the entire process. The day of coordinators (Elliot and Logan) helped me through the entire process of the décor design, food choices, and day of planning. All I had to do was drop off any additional decorations the week of, and they did EVERYTHING for me. The day went smooth, and my family and I did not have to worry about a thing the day of. They were amazing and made our event stress free. The entire staff the night of was attentive and professional, and the food is delicious. Best wedding food you could have. I highly recommend having your event at Grand Street. I was so impressed with how easy they made my day. Oh, they also have SO many decorations you can use at no cost, such as table numbers, different options of candle center pieces, cake trays, etc. It helped lower my cost quite a bit as well. I hope the staff at Grand Street does see this, as they deserve so much credit for making my day perfect! Elliot was our day of coordinator, and was on top of everything the entire time.
Rachel is such a friendly manager! The wine (the Riesling by the glass) was good, too!
Great food and customer service
We chose Grand Street for a birthday brunch and couldn't be happier. The service was as you'd expect for an upscale dining experience. The atmosphere is chic without being stuffy. The brunch buffet offered plenty of delicious appetizers. Each of our plated dishes, chosen from a menu of both creative and familiar offerings, was quite good. We did not leave hungry!
Loud, expensive and poor service
This was a wonderful treat for our wedding anniversary. Even though there was a good amount of people there, it wasn’t super loud. You could have a conversation without yelling. I can’t remember our servers name but he was very kind and attentive. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting. You could dress up or down and still fit right in. I ordered the bread service and the 6oz filet mignon. I tried but just couldn’t leave room for dessert. The food was delicious.
I just left the reception at Grand Street for a wedding I was a part of today. The event space was beautiful, staff super friendly and helpful, bathrooms nice and clean, and the food was excellent! No complaints from this bridesmaid!
Love! Very fresh and friendly staff. A new favorite!
Large graduation party and absolutely phenomenal service! Highly recommend!
Great menu, hard to choose what to eat
The bartender Corey is wonderful. He let us know the brunch buffet was available and pointed us to some great drinks. The chicken and waffles where on point.
The best Thanksgiving buffet we've ever experienced. Excellent food and table service. We will be back next year for the 3rd in a row.
Enjoy the food immensely. Atmosphere fun. Happy hour is a great way to try small plates. We can always fill up and enjoy several as dinner.
Service=5. Food portions=3. Food taste to make up for said portions=3. Specialty drinks=5. So basically go there to drink, just like 20 years ago...
The event I attend was great. However, the parking attendants need to better inform patrons about the garage. It was a pain. Doubt I will ever go back to anything held in that space.
Fine dining; attention to customer needs and desires; professional and courteous; all in all a good place to go
Good but expensive! Nice happy hour
I have always enjoyed dining at Grand Street Cafe. Wonderful service and food.
Was at Grand Street for a private party and they did an amazing job on the set up, the food was great & drinks were flowing! They were very accommodating.
We held our son and daughter-in-law's rehearsal dinner at Grand Street Cafe on the Plaza. Our Event Planner, Logan, was great to work with! The evening was perfect. The atmosphere was amazing, the food was delicious, and the service was excellent. We couldn't have been happier.
One of my favorite places to dine! The chocolate brownie in filo dough is amazing!
I went for lunch with work colleagues. We had the fondue and spring rolls for appetizers, both were amazing. I had the salmon salad for my entree and it was excellent. The service was great, fast and friendly!
All I have to say right now is wow. This is top 5 places we've eaten in KC. Would gladly try anything on their menu and confident it would be excellent. Price for what you get can't be beaten would probably pay more for everything we had. Will return.
I actually had the reception for my wedding here. Loved it! The service was well timed and the restaurant is beautiful. The food was amazing as well.
Outstanding Food & Service!
My fiance and I went to look at the event facility and decided to stay for dinner. It just happened to be during happy hour which is available in the whole restaurant. You don't have to sit at the bar for happy hour. We both ordered coconut chicken which was really very good. The chicken was fresh hot and tender, definitely good quality meat. The menu has a nice variety and it's cheap. We will definitely go back.
Grand Street Cafe on the Plaza was the perfect venue for our son’s rehearsal dinner! Their event space is spacious with many windows overlooking the Plaza. It is elegant and most everything is provided so it made the event easy to plan. Elliot was great to work with and made the process so seamless. We selected prime rib and salmon for the buffet and the food was absolutely delicious! The bar tender and servers were very engaging and attentive to the needs of our guests. The cost was very reasonable for this outstanding venue. We were thrilled with Grand Street for our special event!
Great food. Friendly staff.
Very nice atmosphere. Our waiter, Shawn was really nice and the food was delicious..
Was here for event in the event space Enjoy !! Great Food & Staff!!
Go early Limited food choices after a certain hour
Amazing as always. I went for a wedding rehearsal dinner and the servu6 good, and drinks were all top notch. I've been before for a normal dinner and was just as pleased. They have 2 locations and both are fantastic.
Top notch service and excellent food! Love this place!
We were there for Father's Day Brunch at wound up with a $100 bill for only the buffet and 2 drinks. We were surprised at the cost for the buffet but should have checked when reservations were made. We don't typically do buffets. We were disappointed in the selection of food and tried expresses it to the manager on duty who seemed not interested in our experience. The owner did get in touch with me the next day and was wonderful. He cared about our experience and offered to meet with us personally and make it right. This location has always been a favorite dining experience for us so we will go back for a non-buffet meal..
Wonderful food, and wonderful service!
This was my first time dining at Grand Street Cafe (Lenexa). The atmosphere was nice and location new, but the food was horribly overpriced, and flavor bland, dry & unimpressive. They seem to try very hard to plate semi-gourmet looking entrees, only to deliver super small portions of cafeteria level gruel. Towards the end of the meal, I thought I would try a desert to make up for the depressing meal. I ordered Chocolate cake only to be served a half golf ball sized sphere of fancy looking Sara Lee snack cake. All in all, it cost me close to $200 for 5 entrees, 5 waters, and 2 deserts. Save yourself, go to Red Rock Canyon Grill, Itiaian Delight, or Café Provence if you want a good meal. One star is not low enough for this place.
Great service, great food. Erica was the best! Kept up with our service and let us talk.
During the last two years I've had a meal here once monthly with a friend here on business from Texas. I've never had a meal that wasn't excellent. The wait staff are friendly and attentive. It is a very attractive space, and has great parking lot that always has spots available.
Excellent service and venue
