This is a hidden gem in Oskaloosa, IA! It is only open for lunch. Great food. Each day there is a different special. Absolutely loved everything I have ate there. You need to try the dessert! A lot of days they run out of dessert early.

A small soup and sandwiche place that also caters. Good food above average prices, average service. I heard the catering is good but haven't experienced it. Good for a take out lunch. Limited hours.

I love this place. They serve fresh and delicious meals.The daily specials and desserts are always great. Seating selection is small though as there are only 5 or 6 grouping of tables. You may have to share your space which can bother some people, like my daughter. I dont mind since the food is so good. Many order ahead for pick up.

Absolutely, bar none the best food in Oskaloosa!! I grew up down South in their pulled pork would rival anything I've ever ate! Very friendly and know me by name and my "usual" order! I have also patronized the catering which was outstanding! I only wish they could be a full time restaurant.

Great friendly service. Food was good, with highlight being the loaded mashed potato side dish. Smoked Chicken sandwich was 'ok' but meat didn't have much smoke flavor. Will come and try again.

We hired Kyle for our wedding and he exceeded all of our expectations! From our first inquiry, even to the day of our wedding, Kyle was extremely helpful and responsive with all of our inquires. When I realized that goofed on some crucial details such as time of dinner and number of guests, Kyle was judgement free and made any adjustments needed. The food we had at our reception was stellar as well! We still have people asking who catered for us, his loaded mashed potatoes were a fan favorite especially! Kyle even sent us instructions on how best to utilize our leftovers, which was just above and beyond what we expected. I cannot recommend Kyle and Grate Expectations Catering enough, you will not be disappointed in their food or service!
