Great food, friendly service. Nice weather Saturdays are very busy.
Unique setting and worth the short detour. Many window booths have a view of the airport and you can watch planes coming and going. They serve Breakfast, Lunch and Dinner. The California Benedict was very good. Pilot potatoes are average hash browns. Service was fast and friendly.
Fun place if you like good food and watching small aircraft taking off and landing.
Good food, nice service. And some great views
Love this place. Breakfast selection is awesome.
It was my first experience and it was one of the best experiences in Columbus. The Comanche was absolutely delicious and the senior people we chatted with were heart touching. Best recommended to start off the weekend with your family and friends. Cheers.!
So glad First Class did the catering for our wedding. They were professional, easy to work with, and the food/service was great! Our guests loved it and it was a great experience.
Good food, nice setting. Kids enjoyed watching the planes and helicopter land and take off.
Good food, good service!
The Hangar 5 is a unique fun place to dine! We love to eat breakfast there on the weekend!
Comfort food. Breakfast and lunch only. Service is friendly but generally too busy to be attentive. Food is often very good but if you order anything done different than usual (like dry toast) it may take a couple of tries to get it right. Prices are pretty standard for casual breakfast, a bit more for lunch, but the lunch is large portions and tastes "homemade". Great soup and the Sunday chicken is terrific. If you go on the weekends, come early or expect a 20-30 minute wait. On special occasions/holidays you may need a reservation. If you like airplanes, you will love the view.
Fast, friendly service and always have great food. With the view of airport runway it is fun to see the planes while you eat.
Love this place!!!! So cool to be able to watch the planes while eating breakfast!!
Excellent food, nice people but slow service.
Very good and reasonably priced.
Really liked liver and onions... Coulda been a little hotter in temp
Great food but please update your menu on your website. When I order, I have found that you do not do some things anymore.
The food was great. Unfortunately, the time we went was really busy. There was definitely a wait for our food, but the service was wonderful. And the portions were very generous.
Love this place. Wish they were open for dinner as well! Great food and service!
What a pleasant experience! Several members of my immediate family wanted to meet halfway between Indy and Louisville for breakfast. We did a search on local restaurants and because of our last name this restaurant jumped out. We loved everything about this place - great food, nice backdrop, great staff. We even got to meet the owner (with same last name as ours) and shared some family history. We will definitely be back!
Good breakfast/brunch joint at the airport, with a great view of the runway. Gets busy on the weekends, so be smart and call ahead!
A very nice upscale place. Very good service and I really like the ambiance and food.
Went for breakfast with family ..omg the amount of food they give you is crazy! Soon as you walk in the door you can tell its gonna be good just from the smell.. Home cooking. !! Was great plus awesome watching planes fly out. My first time there and won't be the last ...great place!!!!
The Chopper is AMAZING. Great good. Great service. Fairly priced. Highly recommend.
Delicious food, pleasant atmosphere and great service.
Best place for breakfast in Columbus and with a great view too!
Used to be one of our favorite breakfast restaurants. But this morning not so much. The Hostess was very rude to my husband and myself. The hostess took us to a table/ half booth. I asked for a booth by the window pls which was available. She got upset with us said “this was the next waitress table and it is a booth!” She picked up our menus and silverware took them over to the booth by the window slammed them down on the table with our silverware, turned her nose up and walked away left us standing. Awkward!! With that being said, not knowing how we would be treated by the server, we left and took our business elsewhere.
Great view of small aircraft TOnL. Fast and friendly service.
Great thanksgiving buffet with excellent service
We were so incredibly impressed when we found them at a bridal show. We had emailed and scheduled a phone meeting to talk about catering for our wedding in more detail. They have ignored now two scheduled phone meetings and all emails/voicemails. Don’t risk it on your wedding day and find another caterer that can actually handle the responsibility of timelines and communication.
Our family loves eating here! Great menu, reasonably priced, and we've always had wonderful and quick service.
Best breakfast in Columbus! Great menu choices and portion sizes are a plenty. The view while you're eating is great as well.
Good food, food delivery was a little slow but otherwise great.
Visited 12/20/16 had horrible customer service experience. The host walked right past us without greeting us and seated a couple at the only table available. We put our names on the list to be seated and he told us to go outside and wait. We went to the bathroom, came out and sat at the waiting area tables. Then we watched the host seat the couple that came in after us at the table he said would be our table. We went back in and he looked at us and said "sorry they were standing in here I didn't know if you guys were here or not, I didn't feel like walking out there when they were here" walked away and never came back, then a waitress comes up and said "I thought you guys had been helped what do you need now" we will not be back. Giving even one star is being generous.
Good restaurant that commits highway robbery during special events. Avoid this place for any special event. Normally their menu is reasonably priced with a broad selection of items. I went here for their "Easter event" brunch (around 10AM) got reservations as you'd expect it to be busy given the holiday. A normal meal here any other day of the week costs ~$10 + drink cost. During their events they charge 2X and setup cheap plastic tables outside of their restaurant into the airport lobby to maximize their gouging event. For your double priced meal you get a buffet with 0 breakfast items (for a place that has half their regular menu as breakfast and isn't open past 2PM most days I found this appalling). The bus service was good but they would take your utensils and there were 0 spares at the buffet line or at the dessert table. Its like they didn't want you to go back for seconds when they themselves are charging double the price. The icing on the cake was the little piece of paper reminding you to tip your server well during the holiday. I get that they are working a holiday and all but this is normal hours for them and they are getting double the tips just based on the normal 15% rule because the restaurant is charging double the price! *throws yellow flag and blows whistle* unnecessary roughing of the customer! I have frequented this place whenever my parents fly into town and from hence forth when they fly into the airport I will pick them up and drive them to another restaurant even if it is a 30 minute round trip hassle. I refuse to eat here again.
Had breakfast. The biscuits are cornbread not biscuits. Worst sausage gravy I have had in a long time. I always try biscuits and gravy. I figure if they can't make that then probably the only thing they can do is cook eggs, you can get them anywhere. So all and all not a good experience. We usually give a place two tried. Will try one more time, I'd that's no good, will not go back. I will drive to Franklin, IN and go to Ann's.
Great view of the airport. Very reasonable prices for the quality and quantity of food. I love the general's breakfast- 6 oz steak and 2 eggs, toast and coffee of potato for 9.99!
Hash browns were slighty burned, waiter was not friendly, messed up my order, didnt refill our waters, food took forever, and it was very claustrophobic. If you are a liberal, this isn't the place for you, will not be visiting again.
Great food, fun location, tremendous staff
We really enjoyed this place,. It's easy to find and is at the airport so parking is no problem. Both my boys liked the food and I thought it was good as well. If you looking for a place that's a bit different than the normal this is a great place to go. Nice modern theme and you can see planes takeoff and land while you eat. Mostly small aircraft. While we were there it was a mix of after church and some pilots and others that are just in to aircraft- great surrounding's. There is a small aviation museum next door so you could make it a nice little trip if you like.
Great food, excellent value, nice staff. That's why we've been coming here for years.
Good food, large portions. Weekends are busy especially around breakfast.
Very cool place to eat and the food is great!
I like a place that serves breakfast all day. They have excellant selections. They also have excrllane Senior items on the menu.
We often go here three times a week. The food is delicious with good pricing and large servings!!!!! A real treat for children is the airplanes landing right outside the window! Also with the remodel the restaurant can accommodate large groups or small. The staff is friendly and does their utmost to meet your needs!!!!
Not much for vegetarians but they were able to work with me. So ... designed a lettice-tomatoe-mac& cheese sandwich on toasted rye bread. Tasted good.
Their tuna salad is very good. That's what i like to eat when I go here. I'd recommend it to anyone. A must have for lunch.
Excellent! Watching the planes is a bonus.
Food good. Could barely get in or out of the booths.
One of our kids has several food allergies which we mentioned to our server in hopes he might be able to eat bacon. The Chef came out to our table to speak with us to gain a full understanding of the allergies. He made us feel very comfortable ordering the hashbrown casserole which was also very good! The staff was overall great and we can’t wait to visit more often. It’s so hard to eat out of our home without fear of an allergic reaction, but the Hangar will become a regular! Thank you!
Good food, good service and huge portions!
Great service and good tasting food, very nice atmosphere
Wonderful place to eat. Nice little restaurant in the airport. My families go to breakfast place!!!
Great service with classic diner grub. No annoying background music! Good light. A great place to mobile office in Columbus!
Great place for family or alone dining and either breakfast or lunch!!! Menu has a great variety but not overwhelming and service is great, and of course consistency is 1 of the many things that will keep u coming back!
Blackerby's is a great place for breakfast. The food is great. The price is right. The wait staff is kind and courteous. It's neat to sit at your table and watch the planes taxi in and out. The tables are always clean and ready for the next customer very quickly. In fact, even on a busy morning the wait is not terrible. I've always had a positive experience at Blackerby's and leave there eager to return. It's always exciting to get a call or text saying "Wanna eat at the hangar?" Heck yes I do. Every time.
Great breakfast quiche, the view of the airport runway is good.
Nice resturant, most of the food is good. Their pecan pancakes are awesome. Biscuits are dry.
Staff is nice and the location is undeniably awesome. Food is only okay, though.
Located in the airport. Good variety on menu. Good service. Cool view of runway.
Wonderful food and drinks. Pie was great!
Good food a bit pricey
Good food, and especially on Saturday mornings, good breakfast with views of the planes taking off.
Awesome food, service and atmosphere.
Great place to eat and such a friendly staff!
Best breaded pork tenderloin, ever!
Great food good service
We chose to do a taco bar for our wedding & First Class Catering went far beyond our expectations! People are still telling me how amazing our appetizers were! The tasting was easy to set up & Caleb was very organized & personable. We loved working with First Class!
Hometown favorite! Loved by locals and visitors alike for the great breakfast offered all day and the varied lunch offerings, something for every palate. We are always pleased by the wait staff who are consistently professional and pleasant. Beautiful Indiana views through the many windows make a great backdrop for this airport location. Worth the wait!
Great fly in
This restaurant has such great food. On top of that, the service is pretty good. I often times come back into town from college just for this place. I highly recommend the cheese omelet!
Over crowded poor seating and neglectful staff. Seating us (with a infant) right in the with middle where traffic almost ran into my daughter numerous times. The ambience is great and the view of the air field makes this bump from 2
Breakfast was ok. Great view if you're facing the outside
Great Breakfast
Above average food, good food and better prices.
The staff was very friendly ...nice clean new place ...the food wasn't all that great but good ...coffee was good... biscuits were a little hard we enjoyed ourselves... ate there with my cousin... I would ask anyone to visit it
Food was good but being a vegan there was little to choose from. I was with a group who obviously do not share my choice of food.
They have great breakfast. And... getting to look out addy the airport is just cool.
Love this place. Food was great as always. There were about 10 planes that had flown in to eat breakfast.
Very busy today. Lots of planes.
Awesome breakfast spot. Great food and service. Recently remodeled. You can see the runway nland landing strip which makes it fun to watch the planes.
Good food great prices
It had been at least 2 years sence I have eaten here. I dont get out much. I was in my electric wheelchair, and they took great care of me, getting me seated. Very very helpful, and friendly. Service was great! The food was amazing as always. This place , has a atmosphere.
We enjoy coming here for breakfast and brunch. There is a good variety on the menu and the price is very reasonable for adults and kids. They make several items on the menu from scratch including their yummy applesauce. The food and service are both usually quite good but the atmosphere of being able to watch the planes coming and going really makes this place special. You never know what you will see when you come, but even if it is just a normal day of planes flying in and out it's fun. They updated the restaurant within the past year and it's very nice. We miss the model planes though. Be aware it can get crowded on the weekend and at lunch but it's worth the wait if you have time.
Excellent service and excellent food with a view of the runway. It's a great spot for breakfast or lunch.
Great restaurant for the family or a first date. Romantic and fun at the same time. A must visit in Columbus Indiana!!
Great food! Very affordable prices. Serving sizes are very large. Service is always great. We love watching the planes while we have lunch.
Great service and breakfast. My son likes the biscuits and gravy and French toast. I like every breakfast.
Inexpensive good food and capable service.
Very good food enjoy watching the planes come in and leave
Good food but a bit pricey
Busy Great food
Great for breakfast!
Good food but not like it use to be
Great service. Great food. Nice atmosphere.
Great place for a bite and to watch some planes! Meals have never disappointed!
Great place to eat good price
Very good food, great service
Great food at a very reasonable price. The staff was very friendly and quick. Arrived around 10am and even with the size of the place there was no wait even with 4 people. Will gladly come again next time in area.
Very nice restaurant, good food, clean, and great service. Will definitely go again and highly recommend!
Great eggs, toast, potatoes, and bacon. Best restaraunt in Indiana.
Great place to have breakfast or lunch. Very American taste and sufficient portions of food. Not giving it 5 stars cause they took around 40 minutes to bring our food. Decoration by the way was awesome!
Second best biscuits I have ever had (first is Bob's Red Mill). Great service and atmosphere. Good, quick food for a good price.
My husband and I loved this place. We have just been in Columbus going on two yrs.We heard about it.The food was delicious. I ordered the meatloaf plate. My husband ordered fish plate.. They are known for their great breakfast. Very friendly people. Loved sitting at the window and watching the planes. My husband saw a military helicopter there and still after eating, we stood outside to see it take off! Great place! Oh! Visit the Military Museum close by! The kids will love it! old and young ! The volunteers are wonderful! True stories of our GREAT men and women from Columbus !
Friendly staff, great food, good place to meet. Wish it was two floors instead of one.
Great food and good prices!
Good food at decent price I would recommend this place to other people. Food good price is not bad.
Love the food and the best sweet tea I have had in a while. Everyone is friendly.
Good food and an interesting view of the airport.
This is by far, the best breakfast restaurant in town. Every time I go, it is consistently delicious and the service is great!
Love this place! Love it! This is the best GA airport restaurant I’ve visited from any airport I’ve ever flown into/out of, hands down. Excellent and modern dining area with a fantastic view, the service is attentive, and the food is excellent. I purposefully make KBAK a stop on many of my flights simply because of the restaurant, the great FBO, and the friendly tower controller. You can land, taxi in, and be seated in the restaurant in exactly 5 minutes or less from the time the wheels hit the pavement. It’s very nice to see that town residents that are non-aviators also tend to fill the place, which is a great and necessary sign to indicate continued business of the restaurant. This may become an almost weekly breakfast/lunch fly-in spot for me!
Nice quick lunch. Excellent surroundings in view and in service. Looking forward to another "$100 hamburger" here.
Food was great, service was impeccable, servings was huge! Can't really complain about anything except This is the 4th time I've been over the years. I brought my kids here so they could eat breakfast and watch planes land and take off. I would still eat here, but it would have been nice to know that they are remodeling and set you downstairs where you just see walls and people. I told my kiddos about Blackerby and they were kinda of not happy due to the seating area and no planes to watch. If the remodel was posted on your website, we still would have eaten here, usually do when we come to columbus.
Nice views and a fun place to eat at, but food wasn't all that great unfortunately. I had their beef open-faced sandwich and the hunk of beef that came with it was not fork-tender pot roast as I expected. It was dry and tough and difficult to cut and eat. server gladly replaced it with a turkey open-faced sandwich which was much better.
Young hostess asked our names, never made eye contact...three groups waiting before us, left...we didn't know why. Then two groups arrived after us we're seated before us...ahhh....hostess can't keep track of her own list, and needs to be welcoming. We left. My guess she's new? Lost at least 16 customers in 20 minute wait.
Fantastic lunch and atmosphere
Friendly folk! Food was just okay.
Great food and excellent food. Ask for Nakita!
This is a great family run restaurant! They are always really nice, and we’re helpful when deciding what to eat. They are flexible to accommodate party size as well. It’s a great place to eat and watch the planes come and go!
Was really excited to try this place but honestly it was awful. Waited 30 minutes to get a seat. Then my waffle got burnt then by the time it came out everyone else was done eating. The waffle literally tasted like nothing, it was tasteless. Left angry and still hungry.
Very cool place, right on a runway& with a diner feel to it. Good is amazing.
Great breakfast! Lots if options
Breakfast with a view! Great food and great service.
What a view! The place had a good menu too. The cajun chicken sandwich is great. It's called something though I can't remember
Fun thing to do on a Saturday morning with the grandson. Food was good and prices reasonable.
Great place for breakfast. French toast and hash brown casserole are my favorites. The view is great, love watching the planes. Highly recommended.
The best blueberry pancakes in this area!!! Delicious!!!
The food is just, eh and always has been. Recommended by many (mostly old people) for the first 15years I was here and I finally broke down and went about 3 times at various meals and tried several menu options. Never saw the appeal. I could eat a sack lunch in the school parking lot and get better, food, ambiance and service.
Boss took me for lunch it was pretty nice there
Our choice of wedding caterer was really no contest. We scheduled tastings with a couple of caterers and the only one who really “wow’ed” us was First Class. If you live in the Indianapolis area, trust me when I say the drive down to Columbus for a tasting is more than worth it! We had a hard time deciding on our menu because it was all so delicious! Caleb didn’t even bat an eye as we added cocktail hour hors d'oeuvres and then adjusted headcount and then added cinnamon rolls for dessert (First Class doesn’t do traditional wedding cake, but their cinnamon rolls are a-ma-zing!). We requested a private dinner for the two of us, which they accommodated and even asked how we wanted our specific steaks prepared (talk about first-class service)! Having a few minutes to enjoy our meal and each other before greeting our guests was so appreciated. We opted for a plated meal with split entree (4 oz each of filet mignon and raspberry chicken) with brussel sprouts, asiago-stuffed red potatoes and baked mac n’ cheese and a spinach salad to start. We all know wedding reception food usually isn’t very good, but our guests raved about ours! The steak came out perfectly-cooked, which is so impressive for a group of 100+ people served at the same time. The only thing we would suggest is specifically indicating a food allergy. We picked specific foods without nuts due to an allergy but didn’t specifically say “no nuts due to an allergy”. First-Class ended up adding almonds to our spinach salad to fancy it up (which is greatly appreciated that they would go that extra mile). Once they found out about the allergy on the day of, they bent over backwards to fix it. We were also extremely impressed with their pricing. We had gone into it thinking only a buffet would be in our budget, but Caleb proved us wrong. Having a plated meal made the event that much more special for us and our guests. Thank you to Caleb and the entire First Class crew for impressing everyone who had the pleasure of being served by them!
Great food, Great pricing.
Cups were dirty. Waitress sub-par.
I love bringing the kids to Blackerby's for brunch. We always have fun watching the planes. Service is great as is the food. Hot and delicious. We tried the cinnamon rolls for the first time today (I am usually not a fan of them in general) and we will be having them again soon. Absolutely delicious.
Hate to say how great this was. It's already got wait times for their excellent breakfasts
What a gem! This place is literally inside a tiny municipal airport in Columbus, without so much as a sign on the front entrance. Seats are booth-style near a great ground level view of the runway. Waiters are all in airline type uniforms ... it's a fun and different experience. But on top of that -- it's actually good! There's a big menu with healthier options or your more standard breakfast fare. You'd be hard pressed to spend over $10 on the meal, but the ingredients are of a fare quality -- the toast and scones are more rustic/country style than diner-like, the eggs are prepared well... really all I wasn't crazy about were the hash browns and the hash brown casserole (first was dry, second was mushy and overdone). Couldn't bare to drop a star for either of those shortcomings though. I wouldn't miss this place if I was driving down I65 again, and I might even go out of my way to bring somebody there given a chance.
July 6, 2019. Food is usually very good but today the ham that came with the Airbus meal tasted funny, was afraid to finish eating it. Food Supervisor should check ham inventory
Good Sunday Brunch! Very enjoyable to sit at our booth and look out over the runway. It was worth the drive down from Camp Atterbury. Recommend calling ahead for reservations. We had to wait for about an hour before we got seated.
Our first time there this morning. We were seated the moment we walked in. While we were there, I didn't see much of a wait. The menu is extensive. Choosing was a nice problem to have. Their Senior Menu is 65 and up. Service was prompt and attentive. Our food was delivered quickly, and as ordered. I can tell you that the biscuits and gravy are worth ordering. The cheesy scrambled eggs were quite good. I think the sausage patties are commercially prepped, but they were cooked with my order. The price is a little more than one might pay at a chain, but that difference is well worth it in my book.
Food mediocre - ok but not fabulous. Menu online is WAY out of date.
Hate to say this because this used to be one of my favorite places. Ordered BLT with avocado. Worse sandwich i ever had. Crumbs of less than one piece of bacon and virtually no avocado . Large amt of bread with a small circle of ingredients right in the middle. Bowl of veggie soup....yuck...mostly cabbage and a large amt of something green...herbs? Cost $12.00. I came back today a year later and ordered the BLT with avocado again. Took two bites and realized.....no bacon. Waitress suggested a new sandwich..sandwich #2 came with no avocado. Waitress took it back and they put a very small amount of avocado on it and gave back to me. Sandwich was not good. Hardly any bacon but lots of grease. I told waitress it was bad and I did not have to pay for it. Couldn't eat it anyway. Waitress was good felt sorry for her. Well....that's it for me!
A bit of a wait on weekends, but really great food at a decent price. Fun to watch the planes.
Went here for breakfast and the food was very quick and very good. Would plan on going back when I am back in town.
Excellent food so much flaver everything is amazing at this restaurant and the prices are unbeatable so come in have the time of your life!
They did a terrible job with our wedding. We ordered Chicken Marsala; they provided breaded fried chicken. The chicken was dry. We ordered steak medium-rare; they provided steak well done. We ordered roasted potatoes; they provided steamed (flavorless) potatoes. The green beans had no flavor. The quality of the food provided at the wedding was MUCH WORSE than the quality of the food at the tasting. It's remarkable how much they got wrong on the day of our wedding. People seemed pleased with the h'ordeuvres, and the service was ok. The actual meal, though, was not what we ordered and was very bad.
Really neat aviation-themed diner right next to the ramp with great views of the airfield. Great breakfast selections!
I flew 150 miles to eat breakfast with my flying cub, admittedly arrived 1/2 hour late.. I asked if I could be seated with the other 20 members... The reception the man said no.......rudely. Since there was no reason then to eat breakfast alone with my flying club sitting across the room.. I left and departed.... Have eaten there before, very good food but the staff member was very unaccommodating and rude considering the circumstances...
Great service and great food, all for a good price.
The skillets are amazing. Our server knows the best choices
Very late for everything. Late to take orders and deliver.
Best tenderloins!
Great service good food
Very good
Best French toast in town. And the best breakfast restaurant in the state I’d say. Good views of the planes. Fast service. Amazing
The Hangar is a unique eat with a great breakfast the restaurant over looks the tarmac of the Columbus Regional Airport. Most days you can eat and watch the air traffic come and go. Kids love it
Good food nice relaxing view prices great service fantastic
Love this place and thier bread is outstanding.
Casual. Love the planes that come in. Great food.
Great food and friendly staff.
