This Catering is included in the category of Mexican restaurant.
It was okay... Got my burrito before I got my chips n salsa... My aunt got a basic bowl... No cheese? Re read the menu, it didnt say cheese is included... Who wouldn't put cheese on any Mexican dish? A bit pricey ... But thats Chicago for ya
If you'll looking for something different this is the place
Love their tacos shrimp tinga..delish!
Tried the Carne Asada, the Al Pastor and the Birria. All were excellent! Been back to try the Carne Asada torta... The meat is tender and flavorful. The chips were nicely deep fried to a crispness... Quality joint!
Love their tacos! The fish one that is frequently on special is probably my favorite. They also have a mushroom taco (or burrito) if you don't want meat (although I didn't like the mushroom burrito very much, too much liquid from the mushrooms, it was a mess). If you dine in they have really good chips and several hot sauces to choose from.
Amazon food and a great staff! Make sure to grab some fish tacos when they have them and try their specials. They are constantly coming up with new things and each one is more delicious than the last! If you're coming for lunch, don't be discouraged by the line because it's like a well oiled machine back there and my order is usually ready within 5min or so. Much love to the hardworking Jarabe staff ❤️
They're all right. They can try be more friendly. The Tacos was ok, but I've had better Tacos. I just stop there once in a while, this place was once was owned by another Taco joint. It's very small and close at 5pm.
Great food
Great food and customer service!
The food is excellent. The staff is very nice. The breakfast tacos are my favorites so far, but everything is delicious. Small space, but they have great food and Dark Matter coffee.
In the mood for some Mexican breakfast and saw reviews and excited for this. I had the steak and egg tacos and goat. I thought the steak was good but not as flavorful as I hoped it would be. The tortilla was soggy when I got it. The goat was on point good flavor and definitely can taste the tender meat. My wife's breakfast burrito was not good she said she wouldnt go back. We got carry out so could have affected the experience.
Such a great experience using them! I hosted a rooftop party and thought the street food fare would be a nice touch. Great food, generous portions and they came and set up all the catering! Everyone asked me where did I get this great food from! I definitely recommend!
Happen to try this place after leaving school. Seemed really cool with a local vibe. Customer service was awesome! Woman behind the counter helped me out. Thanks!
Messy, cheap, delicious Great chips and lots of sauces to throw on top too.
Exelente food
Good site for Mexican food. Service is always timely even when they have a full house. I had a brother come into town and asked me to take him back here. It has an awesome atmosphere.
Authentic Mexican. Delicious
I had a carne asada burrito for lunch, and made the poor choice of "making it a meal" wherein rice and beans are also provided. It was a poor choice because everything was ridiculously delicious and rather than making the good decision of leaving half the burrito for later, I ate everything they gave me and got a tummyache. The carne asada was fantastic; I've never had it so juicy and tender. There was also red onion slaw in the burrito, I think made with just red onion and red cabbage, that was shockingly good (I'm usually not big on raw red onion or raw cabbage). They're very busy, so consider takeout or delivery, but definitely put this food in your face.
Must try place.....!!!!! Awesome food. Worth it.
Nice to go to on lunch break
Excellent service great food it's a must try I will add they didn't have grilled onions but they made them for us!
This is one of my favorite taco joints. I love their chicken tinga tacos and burritos. They also make their own chips and fresh salsa daily!
I've ordered from this place for over a year and the food and service never ceases to amaze me.
First visit. Good tacos funky little place. I liked it.
The best food ever!!
Delicious salsas
Excellent $2 Dollar Tacos on Tuesday
The cochinita pibil and chicken tinga were outstanding! Very flavorful!
Great food, but they get the order wrong a lot. Be sure to double check your order. They have two different types of chicken and I always get the one I don't want
Had a quick breakfast here. Food was fresh and well served. Staff is also friendly. Best thing is you get quality, authentic Mexican food at really good prices! Had the steak and eggs taco (which isn't that authentic, but it was delicious!). I would come back again, and would make it one of my regular places if I lived around the area.
Great chips and sauces! Love the small business vibe! Employees have great enthusiasm! Will come back when in the area!
Very bad tacos and rice!!
We ordered Jarabe's taco bar for our wedding reception and it was outstanding. We were able to edit our order week-of and the delivery and set up was great. Our friends and family raved about the food. Will be ordering from them again in the future and would recommend them to anyone!
Jarabe did the catering for my wedding, and we just keep getting compliments on the food, even weeks after the event ended! Everyone loved the DIY taco bar, and Jarabe not only delivered every kind of fixings you could imagine, but also sauces. I would highly recommend them!
My husband is Mexican with very high MX food standards and he loves their tacos. Also I tried their chilaquiles a couple of weeks ago and they are the best chilaquiles I have ever had. Wonderful neighborhood spot, we haven't had anything bad there, highly recommend.
My go to for tacos in the neighborhood! Great food and nice convenient location. Only wish there were a few more seats as it can get busy. Order ahead and have lunch in the park!
Good tacos I like the steak or zucchini or steak . Tortas are good also. Don't recommend chicken ordered a taco was just a bone with hunk fat on it.
Awesome food! One of the best Mexican food I have had in the Chicago area! We got it delivered after being recommended this place. The food was delicious, the mushroom taco was light and didn't make me miss meat and the chicken taco was delicious and grilled perfectly. The food was fresh, light and tasty. The only two negatives would be that the salsa given were spicy and I was sweating quite a bit after. Second, the chips were bit on the oily side for my taste. Otherwise the food was delish and I would have it again. I endorse this place like a lot of other people I know. Next time, I will be visiting the location to grab a couple tacos!
Great tacos! My favorite are the pork Al Pastor but the chicken tinka are a close second. Newly expanded dining room with cool decor adds to the pleasure of this place.
The chilaquiles Verde's for 8 bucks was a large plate with a generous helping of chorizo and two perfect, yolky, fried eggs. I was very pleased with how courteous the staff was. They were out of a few items, but such is the life of the small business.
Good tacos .. fast casual
Jarabe, worth the travel, has an abundance of street parking on Taylor street, Making any trek for the tacos burritos and other Mexican food items that much easier. The food itself is amazing. The mojo mushroom taco and burritos are simply to die for. That said, looking past that particular item, every other dish we've tried is good as well. The staff is another great part of the experience. Always very helpful and friendly, taking pride in what they do.
the best Mexican food. every it's cook with fresh ingredients. Simply delightful
Nice cozy place. Tasty tacos all around though the chicken might be dry sometimes during lunch.
Probably the best guacamole I have had in a LONG time
No clue how this place got 5 stars but let me start with the customer service for their truck. The guy serving was extremely rude. He seemed to be mad at everyone. I ordered the mushroom taco with a fruit cup and potato pieces. My potato pieces weren’t even cooked all the way through. They were stone cold and hard in the middle. My egg taco was gushing with water . The eggs aren’t even seasoned. I give them 1 star for the fruit cup..which was the only thing with taste.
Really good unique food
The only thing I don't like about this place is that I like their food so much , I spend too much money on steak tacos. Sooo amazing
Best chilaquiles I've had in Chicago. A huge generous helping for only $9. I also really like their Cali burritos. Doesn't rival the ones in Cali but close enough. New interior is pretty too.
The steak taco, burrito are excellent.
I was really disappointed. It does not have authentic mexican flavors. Reminds me of when i tried Chipotle burritos. I had a asada and also a tinga burrito. At least it wasnt as expensive.
What's impressive about this restaurant is that even though there are a wide variety of items on the menu, each dish is prepared with good ingredients made with care. This restaurant is highly deserving of its average review score.
Proof that great things come in small packages. Food is always fresh and seasoned perfectly. Atmosphere and customer service is warm and inviting. Gotta try the breakfast tacos.. OMGGG!
Hands down the best restaurant in the tri-taylor area. Everything I've had on the menu is terrific. The Carne Asada tacos are my favorite. If they didn't close so early everyday I would probably end up going here more times a week than I am comfortable admitting.
Jarabe is a small mexican streetfod outlet at the intersection of Taylor and Oakley. It's a family owned places which shows in its warm and welcoming vibe. The prices and very reasonable and the service is quick. With anything that you order, you get complementary nacho chips. I ordered Chicken Abodo and Chicken Tinga Tacos. For ppl who prefer extra spice, do try the green sauce available. Overall one of the really nice places to have Mexican food in Chicago.
I didn’t care for it. Not even close to Mexican Street food!
Excellent food, excellent sevice! Highly recommend!!!!
The staff here weren't just nice, they all seemed like genuinely good people. That alone made me want to go back but the food is delicious. It's a smaller place that closes in the early evening so you may need to plan your visit or try delivery but I absolutely plan on visiting again to try more of their menu items. I recommend the birria.
Steak tacos are the best!
I ordered a California style bowl with shrimp. It’s supposed to come with fries when I received my order it was about 6 potato wedges with the rest of the condiments. When I asked about it the cashier stated they were out of fries. Why didn’t she say this when I ordered? I don’t know. Then she asked the cooks about it, they said they have a few fries left and agreed to make it for me. At first they were going to give me the fries on the side, but I asked for my money back and they agreed to make a new one. I opened my food before I left, everything looked good. Then as I was eating I realized it barely had any fries, it was legit six fries. Waste of $10
Good food
Loved the adobo chicken burrito
Delicious authentic Mexican at reasonable prices.
First time trying their food and it was absolutely horrible!! Ok first off I’m not sure what seasonings are used in the carne asada but it was sooo bland and tough. The meat had gravy on it never in my life had anything like it . Felt like vomiting
The lamb and chicken Adobe tacos are delicious
We were able to meet the owner, the restaurant is professional and has amazing food.
Best Mexican food in the city. The staff is fantastic and friendly. I could eat here daily.
I used Jarabe this past weekend for a big 40th birthday party. They were amazing! The tacos tasted so delicious and the staff was outstanding. I love the red taco truck which is so fun and festive. I cannot say enough good things about my experience with them and hope to use them again soon!
I can't recommend Jarabe enough. I wish that I could give them 10 stars. They did a catering job recently that was so great and well received by everyone that I couldn't of been happier. The food was the best ever. Delivery was on time, on point and everything as promised. Chicken, steak, sides, chips all better than expected. The only mistake was it was so great that everyone ate everything and we had no leftovers..... Alexis was accommodating, patient and made this a great experience.
Tacos were good but small.
Good Mexican street food. Also have dark matter iced coffee on tap.
I love the fish tacos!!!
Great tacos
The best tacos in Taylor street! The service is outstanding and with the expansion, it’s possible to sit down and have a pretty good lunch. But the real reason I give it 5 stars? The 50-50. Half coffee, half horchata.
Great food
Very good food.
Burritos Are very small, But are good Service is slow, and i love how they serve you Complementary warm water and they want you to clean up your own table would not go back.
California burritos are top notch and are great bang for the buck. Dining in gives you free chips and salsa.
Our office had Jarabe cater an office lunch and everyone enjoyed the food immensely. We would absolutely order from them again. Delicious food, on time delivery and great staff.
Awesome food quickly. Variety of tacos nice. Torta was right on point.
Best carne asada on the north side hands down. The spicy avocado salsa is so satisfying and it's always great eating in and getting fresh fried chips.
Doesn’t matter what you get it’s all delicious!!!!!
Food was delicious. It was reasonably priced with quick and friendly service. Definitely will be going back.
Very good fusion Mexican food; definitely fresh & delicious
Love Jarabe! The staff and the foods are excellent! Love their mushroom and chicken tinga taco - simple the best and must try!
The restaurant was closed at 15:50 on Saturday. Despite the schedule posted on Google maps where said that they are open till 5 pm. Folks. You better call them prior coming or you could just come here to kiss their door and go back.
Never dissatisfied. Been their a few times already. Still exploring the menu choices. P. S. Bring back the California burrito!!!
Great Burrito Bowls, Friendly staff
Best Mexican food on Taylor St.! Their carne asada is delicious. Highly recommend if you're in the mood for Mexican food!
Perfect Quesadillas and Horchata. Also recommend their spicy sauce. Service is good. Good mexican interior and music.
These people really set themselves apart from any other taco place. Everything on the menu is good.
I really appreciate their vegan options! The burritos are ginormous!
This was the best torta of my entire life. I don’t usually care for or crave Mexican food, but I’m pretty sure this is about to change. Because this torta changed my life. I got the carne asada torta. The meat was so flavorful, the quantity of meat was very good, and the fried cheese inside with avocado packed the perfect flavors. I was only halfway done with my sandwich and I wanted to cry because I only had half left :( I wish it never ended because it was that good!
Super disappointed I didn't realize the breakfast tacos are available all day, but the tinga was pretty good consolation.
Tacos are hit or miss depending on your selection (I prefer the steak based ones) but the sauces are pretty good. Goes from 4 star to 5 star for the guacamole, service, and cheap prices.
My fav place for tasty mexican food. This place will surprise you. The service here is above par.
I had their chicken, steak, and pibil tacos. The steak was chewy and the chicken lacked flavor. But the pibil OMG it was delicious! The guacamole alone needs a bit of salt and the chips alone are salty. But when you pair them together they balance each other out. I loved the fact that they had the option of glass bottle coke! As for catering services I did not like how they put a limit per guest. If I am hosting a catering event I have already made sure I ordered enough for all of my guests. Full Disclosure!! This is from a GUESTS perspective. Jarabe catered an event for work. The hostess was also not happy with the limitation put on their guests.
Quaint and yummy. Very good food at a very reasonable price. Very small dine in area. Great service.
Too small, need more tables. EXCELLENT FOOD... Stop by if you are in the area
Excellent tacos. Kind of wish the Carne asada was cut into thinner slices but the meat tasted great. Hibiscus tea was refreshing.
Teddy treats you right, whether you're there for hangover chilaquiles or just some tacos for lunch. Don't miss the home-made chips and guac and be sure to get a horchata coffee when you're there for brunch.
Excellent.its a small hole in the wall, but the food is excellent.
First time going here today, man was I blown away. Ordered a Chorizo Breakfast burrito. Had to be the best breakfast burrito i ever had. I ordered a carne asada taco as well but i'm to stuffed to even try it.
Tiny place with great Mexican food.
Honestly the best mexican restaurant I've been too in Chicago
I went here while I was visiting Chicago, and it was the first restaurant we went to. The BEST idea ever. I love the ambiance in the dining area, suuuper cute. I ordered a lamb birria burrito and horchata, it took a while and my boyfriend already got his food. The server/cashier kept looking at me, which she told me she was wondering why I’m not eating- so she made sure I got my burrito right away after that. She even refilled my horchata for me which I was savouring because it’s my favourite. Customer service was great, we came before closing too! I came back the next day and got more horchata before exploring the city! When I go back to Chicago, this will be the first place I go to again!
My husband was picking up some food for a customer
Fantastic tacos! I tried the breakfast and standard, both worked well. The array of hot sauces was also nice, each with a bit of zest.
stumbled randomly upon this fantastic little gem, made my week. Thanks Chicago for great little places like this. Steak was brillinat, egg tacos perfect.. all at the recommendation of the chef/owner/super cool cashier. Some days I hate trying to figure out what I want and nothing is worse than a restaurant that can't help you decide. This place made life good again.
Tacos were great. I got the carne asada, bistec, and al pastor tacos and each was delicious. The sauces they have are great as well. The restaurant is somewhat small and can get busy at times. The food is priced fairly well; not too expensive. The staff is welcoming and friendly. I would recommend this spot for good food.
Not the best but the chilaquiles were good. The horchata was gross and friend got the other drink and it was also gross. The tacos were decent.
Best breakfast tacos in town. Absolutely fantastic. I couldn't take a picture of them because my hands were full, with tacos.
California burito is great. Meat cuts they use are superior over nearby competition. I would give it 5 star but place is very small, outdated. All and all, great place with potential to be even better.
Had the taco truck for my daughter's grad party in late June. It was a tremendous success!! Everybody absolutely loved the food and the service. I would recommend you have business cards to hand out next time since I had to explain over and over where you are located because they wanted to visit the restaurant and/or plan a catering event. Definitely highly recommended!
We call em gorilla tacos (sounds like Harambe)!
Great food, served fast.
2nd time there, got the tacos and they where quick and delicious. Will definitely be coming back, hope they stay, this location has changed hands quite a few times.
Some of the best pastor tacos I've ever had. The freshest chips and great atmosphere. Make an effort and treat yourself to some tasty food.
Very nice staff, very nice food. Their breakfast burrito is fantastic; thanks for introducing me to arugula, guys. Something that might be overlooked is that the salsas Jarabe offers are also very unique and delicious. They come as mild/medium/hot but each has its own unique flavor profile.
So please with this restaurant! They really know how to make the night special especially if you are celebrating something like we were. The waiters were very attentive and so nice I have never been somewhere where they treat ppl like royalty. I thought one important part of great customer service was when I seen either the owner dining at his own restaurant and afterward coming around greeting his guest and making sure we we enjoying ourselves and how the food was. Speaking of food it was amazing. I would recommend Jarabe Mexican Street Food for any occasion. The inside was very elegant, romantic! Thank you casa sanchez for making my anniversary dinner memorable
Amazing mushroom tacos. Super friendly staff.
1st time trying Jarabe out which was pretty decent. Only problem I had was my chicken taco was a tad but salty. Steak was tasty & tender. I will give them another try
A secret gem I just recently found out about
Okay. Tacos were good. I've had better. Service mediocre
This place has delicious mexican food. It has great classics and new fusions. They concentrate on tacos, burritos and tortas. The agua frescas are amazing. They offer catering as well. The staff is always nice.
Oh man what a place. Reminds me of authentic street food culture while I was in that place. Place is usually super crowded bcos of the good food they serve there. Some of the best tacos I've ever had
Delicious great customer service their drinks are amazing very refreshing I will definitely be going there more often real authentic Mexican food
Cramped little restaurant, but delicious!
Very nice inside and great food
The food is fresh, fast, and delicious!
I had 3 types of tacos and horchata. Horchata with coconut makes it different sometimes a better different. Pibil, Al Pastor, & fried Fish were good.
Such nice staff!
Ordered for delivery and they gave me the wrong items or didn't include items I purchased. Called the restaurant and no one answered the phone. Won't be ordering from here again...
We had a sampling of tacos. Asada, Al Pastor, Adobo Chicken, Cochinita Pibil, Calabazitas, and Shrimp. The Asada, Al Pastor and Calabazita tacos where phenomenal and my favorites. The rest were pretty good too. Both rice are really good, but the red rice actually reminded me of my aunt's rice, that's high praise. Great salsas as well and the burrito options looked interesting, will have to go back to try them
A hidden gem. Quesadillas are bomb
Best salsas ever
Amazing food.
Happen to try this place after leaving school. Seemed really cool with a local vibe. Customer service was awesome! Woman behind the counter helped me out. Thanks!
Got the Mojo Mushroom Burrito California Style and it was the most flavorfully delicious burrito ever!
Fast preparation, 15min. Love their chips (nacho platter especially), they are thin, multilayed deep fried chips not the rough corn ones. Chicken tinga (minced/shredded, marinated, & sauced) tacos are well flavored and seasoned, very soft not dry. Beef tacos include seasoned, juicy, grilled, & diced meat. Veggies are fresh and shredded. Rewards points with each purchase too
Great food and service
mexican food and the feeling at this location is excellent. came here on a saturday. looking forward to going back again. it has a good interior. feels similar to a cafe in chicago i loved.
Good, fresh Mexican
Good quick service
Awesome tacos. Get the chips and guacamole, too.
great food
This is a cool lunch place that easily beats big chain stores attempting to offer Mexican casual food. It is a bit difficult to find, as their store front is lacking any signs or advertisement. The burrito was excellent and the chips were also well made - nice and crunchy. Ordering works in the typical pattern of placing an order at the counter, getting a number, picking a table and a server will bring the order to the table. The ambiance was very casual similar to a decorated cafeteria, perfect for lunch.
Best breakfast burrito I've had in a long time
Overpriced for the food you get
free chips keeps them on par with Chillangos
I love the machaca and steak and egg tacos Try the agua fresca
Was in town for a few days and decided to check this spot out for lunch since it was walking distance from the medical campus. I lived in SoCal for many years and have to say this was phenomenal Mexican food at great prices! The Al pastor was a bit cumin heavy for my personal tastes, but it was still fantastic. Get a couple different types of tacos, you wont regret it!
Jarabe Mexican Street Food has freaking incredible burritos. Best I've had in the city by a long shot. This review is based on a delivery order (El Puerco burrito + quesadilla) from just the other day and I'm ready for more.
We have used Jarabe catering services twice this week for our presentations. We have received many compliments and will use again.
Love street food. This is legit!
Yuuuuum. Superrrr good food, quick service, and inexpensive. Just what I like. I called in my to-go order for a carne asada burrito and was told "give me 5 minutes." Wow, that is quick. Got there, paid, and was asked if I wanted any to-go sauces. Heck yes. Both please. The burrito itself was flavorful AF! The carne asada was tender and juicy, with a hint of smokiness. Loved it. My only gripe was that there wasn't any avocado :( Here I was surprised that the description had avocado without having to pay extra but nope, none was to be found in my burrito.. Maybe cause it's out of season? But "this is America and I want it now" Well, no worries, cause it was still delicious. Excited for my lazy days of not packing a lunch so I can come back here! Things to note: -They accept Samsung Pay!! (gotta get my points if you have a Samsung phone and don't have SP, get on it!! Message me for a referral code :D) -Taco Tuesdays! $2 tacos on Tuesday! Only a .50 cent savings but that's a whole $1 if you buy 2! -They have lengua tacos but no lengua burritos.. interesting..
One of my preferred places for Mexican food. Super tasty. Certainly worth a return visit. The bill was fair I would say.
Great variety of tacos with aguas frescas.
