We just had the Kanak Attack food truck here for our 1 year anniversary party yesterday and it was amazing! The food was fantastic, the service was extremely quick and he was very polite. We got a multitude of compliments from our guests. We would highly recommend them for any sort of event you have and look forward to working with them in the future!

I am honestly flabbergasted by the food we had tonight. I am very familiar with Hawaiian food. I have relatives from Hawaii and an ex-husband from there, and I can tell you this does not measure up. I've made these same items from family recipes and know what they should taste like. Furthermore, I worked in the kitchen of his restaurant off Broadway many years ago. This is NOT the same food. The kalbi was half burnt and tasted like a salt lick. Other than tasting like it was soaked in pure soy sauce for about a week, it had no flavor. The teriyaki chicken was very similar. There was no taste at all to it and it was tough. There should be a balanced flavor with notes of garlic and ginger and there was none of that. The coconut rice was also flavorless and overcooked, just shy of mushy. I didn't try my husband's kalua pork or coconut shrimp but he wasn't impressed. The shrimp actually had an odd grey color to the entire batter. Not from the black sesame seeds, but the batter itself, and did not resemble any coconut shrimp I've ever had, let alone made for his past restaurant. While the mac salad wasn't terrible, it is not the same recipe and could use some tweaking. Truly disappointed and won't be back.

I have tried almost everything on the menu and I have loved it all. The short ribs are amazing, and worth the short wait. The macaroni salad is so good it has me day dreaming about nearly everyday. I have tried a different fried rice every time and was wise to do so. The spam pineapple fried rice had me shook. I didn’t expect to like that one and I was right. I loved it. Love this place.

Shelly Betz

Eating here makes me feel like I'm back in Hawaii! I've tried the Loco Moco, Pork Belly Fried Rice, Korean style beef, pulled pork and more and it's all fabulous. But beware, the portions are gigantic so think about sharing!

Scott Levesque

Some of the best Hawaiian food I've ever had around Boise. Also great menu and system of getting your food

Richard Hall

What more can I say, this place is fantastic. The main courses like the kalua pork and brisket are some of the best I've had anywhere. The vast choice of Rice's from white and brown to pineapple with Spam in it. The sides are to die for. In fact, I could be happy with just sides. Veggiterean options. Huge quantities and reasonable prices.

Kimberlee Stamps

I love that place and I love their food too

Luke Meyers

Perfect restaurant for a quiet, affordable meal with a great tasting menu with generous portions. Kanak Attack is definitely worth checking out!

Wally & Lisa Bowen

Excellent food and great staff & atmosphere.

Remfleg D

I can’t say how authentic it is as I’ve never been to Hawaii. What I can say is the food is delicious and the staff is super friendly! Well done!

Jim P

Best Hawaiian food anywhere!!!

Valerie Warren

Food is very good. I like that they use bamboo utensils and not plastic.

Brittany Fernandez

They have the best Hawaiian food in the treasure valley. I also love their lemonade! Such nice staff! A must try for sure.

Ricco Jereme Mowla

Knack Attack has a new quick service dining option called Pineapple Express. The exceptional Hawaiian food is ready to go, plate lunch and mixed plate style with a wide variety of options to choose from to fit all tastes. The casual eatery is a relaxing space filled with island vibe decor and music. Get an authentic taste of the islands without leaving home. Shaka!

Benjamin Butterworth

Fun and tasty food. Four stars instead of five because of some inconsistencies in the freshness of the food but always a good option for a fun, fast and not too pricy option.

Karen Hansen

Awesome flavor friendly service

Katrina Alvarez

We ate here after our first dinner option fell through... And we were so happy to do so! The food was amazing, especially the pork adobo and the Spam and pineapple fried rice. Service was quick too, even with the made to order items. Definitely going back!

I love everything about this place the atmosphere, the food, and the service!!!

Not impressed with the Katsu. Was told I would need to wait gas it had to be prepared fresh but it was anything but fresh. It had been fried and cut and I'm assuming stored (hopefully in a fridge) before being microwaved and placed in a pan as it was carried out. Since Katsu isnt a pan fried dish it was a pretty obvious fake. Too dry to eat. Tossed it. Pork fried rice is fantastic and the only reason they even get 1 star.

Da Kine Grindz!

Jennifer Harmon

The food was excellent, we used it for catering but they forgot the rolls and salad dressing so we had to send someone back across town to get them.

Samantha Dominguez

Kanak Attack catered our wedding a few weeks ago and were absolutely amazing! The food was delicious and we got so many compliments from all our guests. The display was beautiful. Prices are fantastic and every person we worked with there was so helpful and responsive throughout the whole process. Highly recommend them for a wedding caterer...or any event for that matter!

I had only eaten Kanak attack once before they opened their Meridian location and fell in love. My hubby and I took advantage of the Valentines Day special and we were glad we did! Thank you

Nicole Walton

Wow. So blown away. The portions were huge. The two of us shared a 3 meat plate ($15) and had to box up leftovers! Keith helped us out. Knowlegable and let us taste everything before we bought. The spicy kimchi salad was my hobbies favorite. Really can't got qrong. Deff coming back.

Pineapple Express by Knack Attack Katering is the real name of this establishment-- their door and menus show it and when I added this to google I put Pineapple Express by Knack Attack and have asked for it to be changed twice, but nothing. The employees did say it's weird and no one is calling it by the real name. Humm... When I saw them doing construction I was happy to have another place to eat in my neighborhood. I couldn't wait to eat here, but I didn't get the chance until today and I have to say that I am really on the fence with this place. Full disclosure-- I haven't eaten much Hawaiian food so I can't compare it to others. 15th person to review PINEAPPLE EXPRESS by Knack Attack Katering . AS you approach the establishment there are large blue lounge-like chairs for you to sit and talk (no tables). Walking in there are two doors-- one directly ahead appears to be the Knack Attack Katering office. I saw two women working in there with lots of stuff all over their desk. A small sign on the door says to use the other door for their restaurant. Opening the door and walking in you see a place that has very good use of the space. It's decorated pretty cool with picnic tables with large leaves on them. The place has lots of color. The menu is clear on the board (only half of the menu at this time). The staff was friendly yet let me confused on how to order. Near the register, there are fried foods such as eggrolls premade and sitting in a heat case. When ordering the eggrolls the girl said they're over there and I didn't know what the heck she meant until I got to the register. The food is behind the glass lade out like a Qdoba or Subway. The plates are strong, all wood utensils (see my photos), and sturdy cups and lids. THE FOOD IS EXPENSIVE! Expensive like my meal was cheaper at the Fork and Madator kind of expensive. I got a two meat tray and it was $13. My son got three tacos $10 and the sodas were a whopping $3 each-- for two people it was over $34, which was high for me for a lunch and not at a nicer establishment. The three meat plate costs $15, which is even more expensive than a BBQ place. Again, maybe average for Hawaiian, but not worth it for me. I've reviewed the cost of its competitors such as CK and Rumi and this place is the higher cost of all three. For the record, you do get a lot of food! Near the register is another glass door into the office. The people working in there make awkward eye contact with me, twice. I really feel that this is super awkward for a business and perhaps they should cover the door with something. Again, they have great decorations and ambiance, so that shouldn't be too hard. The food: As I said earlier, I am not super well versed in Hawaiian cuisine. I ordered the pig meat because the guy working told me that it was made with a little salt and then slow cooked in all the natural juices for over 24 hours. Well-- all I could taste was salt-- like a lot of salt which was nearly unbearable-- I didn't eat it. I gave it to my other and without saying a word spat it out and I asked me why I put so much salt on it. NONE! I put NONE! I also got the pineapple chicken (two thumbs up), the spam rice and some corn salad-- I enjoyed all but the pork. The food has a spice to it-- all items that I tried. Unfortunately, my son was unable to eat the tacos because they were too spicy for him. I tasted them, and yes they were spicy. With that being said, we are unfamiliar with many of the items on the tacos such as kimchee; therefore, this may be something that's normal. Just beware in case you're not into to spicing. We also ordered the chicken eggrolls which were good but were awfully liquidy inside and juice squirted on my pants and down my leg--whoops! All in all I say it's an A-OK place.

Best. Foodtruck. Ever.

Service was garbage. They were giving the orders over phone. Absolutely ridiculous. Took 45 minutes for them to serve 50 people. Wasn't even catering. DO NOT CATER WITH THESE IMBECILES

Great Tasting authentic Hawaiian Food! Awesome decor! Only gave it 4 stars because there were too many flies in the restaurant and no music, which made for awkward silence and allowed us to hear the employees & kitchens interesting conversations. Maybe the focus is more on catering and less on the restaurant.

Neil Upham

Wow! This place is awesome ! My girlfriend brought me here and we each got the three entree meals. We should have shared one because the portions are huge. I had some of the best pork adobo I've ever had and I used to live in the Phillipines. I also got the sugar cane street pork and the Korean braised brisket with a side of BBQ chicken fried rice and Hawaiian Macaroni salad. I washed it down with a large Pina colada lemonade. I almost finished half of it before my stomach was filled to max capacity. My mouth wasn't getting that message and kept telling me to eat more. Talk about an internal struggle. I had to remind myself that I can finish it tomorrow. I now walk out full and happy. If you have the chance to come in, you really should.

A must try! You will have a hard time finding something you won't like. The employees treat you like family and feed you like you haven't eaten in days. They also have a food truck.

Michael Mahlum

Pork was dry and lacked flavor, beef was also dry, chicken didn't have much flavor and had a generic teriyaki flavor. Mac salad was ok, but a bit too much mayo for my taste. Given the cost (~$20 for one lunch), I expected much higher quality.

Linda Hedler

I had their food at a wedding recently. It was so delicious. Everything was fresh, hot, and flavorful. Now I want to go to the restaurant for more.

Benjamin Babineau

Great food and friendly staff. The coconut shrimp is amazing!

I just tried Kanak Attack/Pineapple Express for the first time and I cannot say enough good things. The vibe in the restaurant was great with fun music, clean tables, and really friendly people working. The food was even better! I am a vegetarian, so it can be tough sometimes to find new foods to try, much tougher than it should be really, but this place had me covered! They had four different kinds of rice I could eat and all the salads were vegetarian! (The salads are pasta salad, edamame pasta salad, things like that, not lettuce salad, so it was even more fun!) Finally, the tofu was wonderful, really crispy and the perfect amount of sweet with the sauce and my coconut rice. Highly, highly recommend this place and I will be a frequent visitor! Yum.

Awesome, authentic food. Took me back to a vacation on the islands.

AMAZING FOOD! We have 3 kids 4 and under, so going out to eat can be frustrating. But they were so nice here, they just smiled and laughed as the kids ran circles around the places. They explained the flavors and heat level of the different meats. I had the Kalua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken, and Chicken Katsu. They were all great. The 3 meat plate could feed 2 adults easy. The coconut rice was great, and I was surprised how much I like their salads, most Hawaiianplaces just serve coleslaw or macaroni salad. I got the pasta salad with my plate and I'm not sure what they flavored it with but is was delicious, and not what I was expecting. It tasted like Hawaii. My wife got the corn salad and it started cold and then the spice kicked in just a little in the after taste. Awesome. They didn't have the fried onion strings like they use to when they were located over on Broadway, so I missed those, but overall just great food. The fried rices were good, but not as great as the coconut rice.

Joshua Beaman

Worst Customer service I've experienced! I emailed the catering manager 3 days ago to explain how we felt and still no response. So, I'll put it here: Claudine, Good morning. I wanted to reach out and tell you a little bit about our experience with the service we received Saturday. I'm not necessarily one to write reviews on social platforms because I understand the impact they can have on a business. With that being said, we were supposed to pick our large order up Saturday at 4:30 PM in order to make enough time to set up for our wedding reception. When we arrived exactly at 4:30, no one seemed prepared for our arrival. In fact, the staff seemed confused and gave no information as to what was going on. As we stood there waiting, everyone started running around in a mad dash (it seemed to actually get our order ready) and arguing with each other. Not one person said to us that our order wasn't ready or that there was a mix up. No one said anything to us. Not an apology, not an acknowledgment of fault. Just nothing. We gathered from the arguing and running around that our order wasn't ready. By the time we got everything loaded and back on the road, it was after 5PM. To me, being in a position of management for many years, this is completely unacceptable. I understand that things happen. I do. But the fact that no one told us anything about what was going on or communicated with us about the issue... that is just poor customer service. And not even one person apologized for the issue. Honestly, this was some of the worst service I've received in years. Please keep in mind when training your staff the true importance of business. The customer. When the customer pays $800+ dollars for a service, they expect the product and a friendly smile. Not "take your food and leave" which is ultimately how we left feeling. Thank you for your time. -Josh

The food was incredible, always a solid and reliable quality of food, clean tables and chairs in dining area. Only complaint would be the lights, it was a bit too dark in the restraunt, but that's a personal issue most probably won't have any involvement with. Great service and employees working.

Lindy Ichihara

This place is awesome! The decor the food. Their food is so authentic, and delish. The music was awesome the ppl. I love Love the bamboo plates and cutlery. The malasadas were delicious. This place needs more ppl, to go give them some love

Colin Rasmussen

I thought it was really great. My only complaint would be that the coconut rice was a little overcooked but since it's made ahead of time I doubt there is much to be done about it. I'm actually finding that rice is overcooked everywhere I go in Idaho. Likely just an Idaho cultural thing. So 5 stars anyway! My favorite was the Korean chicken. It was ridiculously good. I will definitely be returning.

Lisa Ro

This was some of the best Hawaiian food we have had since we visited the islands. We will definitely be telling our family and friends about this place.

Anthony Martin

Sabrina Garcia

Very disappointed with the quality of food. The rice was terrible way over cooked like it had sat all day. The teriyaki chicken was dried out again like it had been sitting all day. Bad rice from islanders is just crazy.

Jeremy Putman

The Korean brisket tacos are my favorite. Great food. Great staff.

MsHeather C

Affordable, Delicious food, giant proportions, the sweet food's sweet, smoked food's smokey, and spicy food's spicy. Will go again and again.

Kanak Attack provided catering for our wedding reception over Labor Day weekend, and the entire experience was great. Claudine and team were organized, punctual, and extremely friendly. The set up was seamless, and the team managed the transition from cocktail hour to dinner very well. The food was also fantastic! We received several compliments from guests on all menu items, especially the Kalua Pork, Teriyaki Chicken, and Mac Salad. We also used the bartending service, which was very helpful and we would highly recommend to anyone hosting an event. Overall, Kanak Attack did an amazing job catering our wedding and we would highly recommend them. From service to food, everything was great!

I had the worst experience at their food truck at an event! I asked if I could order Kailua pork and stir fry veggies (veggies instead of a Mac salad or other side). The guy said he can’t do that. That he only has the veggies as a meat substitute for vegetarians. I told him I’m eating low carb and couldn’t have the rice, Mac salad, etc. He said nothing he can do because he brings limited supply on the truck. I asked him if I could pay for two entrees then - a pork and a veggie stir fry, and that I could put them together myself. He still said he couldn’t do that. I was flabbergasted! I said you can’t sell me two entrees with the rice and Mac salad on the side, and let me throw away what I’m not going to eat?? He finally said yes (because how could he refuse to sell two entrees the way they come?). He wasn’t in the least bit apologetic for not being accommodating or suggesting that option to me. He watched me throw away the rice and Mac salad (which I would have happily not even had him serve me so it wasn’t wasted, but I guess that’s not allowed). I couldn’t believe how rude and unaccommodating he was! If it wasn’t the only semi low carb option at the event I would have never spent another $20 at this business. The worst part is I’ve eaten at their restaurants and really enjoy the food, but this employee’s behavior was unacceptable.

Ryan H.

Real deal Hawaiian. One of my new favorite restaurants.

Cheyenne Heiner

My entire dish was luke warm; the chicken, the friend rice...why??!!! I couldn't eat it in fear of food posioning. The guy serving us was short with his responses like we should have had all of our order picked out before we got to the counter. There were flies everywhere. Hardly anything was covered with lids so the flies we're all over the food. I won't return.

Ro Hrndz

First time here & it was delicious. You are greeted with an "Aloha"... The guy who helped me gave me a run down on all the menu & food they offered. Can't go wrong with anything. Large servings, great atmosphere & the smell is amazing.

VERY GOOD FOOD/PRICE RIGHT.....................

Amazing service! Amazing food. I didn't even get a picture of the food because I ate it so fast. We got the 3 entree and split it between 2 of us. There was even food left over. Best Hawaiian food in treasure valley!

So. Freaking. Good. Used them for my wedding. The tequila chicken and elote corn is amazing. All of it is

Put the Mc whatever down go here instead. The people are awesome, the place is clean and most importantly the food is amazing. (Sugar Cane sweet pork, pineapple fried Rice Mac salad)

Great food, a little pricey but good quantity and quality.

Laura Velvick

I had them cater my wedding. Everything went smoothly. I'm a little disappointed that I paid for a box service and they didn't box all of my left overs because they ran out of boxes. I should have known up front that the box service only allows for 6 boxes.

The catering & food truck have always been very good. The restaurant was not good. Salty, greasy meat . Deep fried chicken - not good. Perhaps we should have stuck with Kailua Pig? The staff - the one bright spot - were helpful and friendly.
