A little out of the way but worth it

Outside of some odd conversations with a couple of the waiting staff/management because a lack of signs, this place was extremely delightful for a wedding recently attended. While it's out in 'the boonies' of Connecticut, it was a great place to go to and they did a tremendous job hosting the entire wedding. Food was great, waiters and waitresses were great, and the venue was in outstanding condition.

Riverhouse Catering, with the team managed by Kirsten, was instrumental in making our daughter's wedding on June 30, 2018 absolutely spectacular! Prior to the wedding, Kirsten attended 2 very long meetings at Folly Farm in Simsbury, CT, the wedding venue. She was organized, receptive to our requests, handled our concerns with professionalism, and managed the extensive details involved in a 235 person wedding like the true professional that she is. The on-site event coordinator, Jake, did an amazing job in managing the timing, preparation, service and amazing quality and presentation of the food. Riverhouse was responsible for providing the bar and bartenders, linens, silverware, glassware, etc. for this gorgeous outdoor wedding. The tables were set to perfection, and there were more than enough wait staff ensure that everything was executed to perfection. The attendant dedicated to the bride and groom and their parents, Della, was fabulous! She continually made sure that we all had food, beverages to keep us cool on that very hot day, and ensured that anything needed was attended to. Riverhouse's off-site catering team was truly a group of highly trained and professional people. The quality of the pre-wedding coordination, day-of service, attention to detail and incredible food were beyond our expectations. This team was instrumental in making our daughter's and son in law's wedding day the wedding of their dreams! As Mother of the Bride, I cannot recommend Riverhouse Catering enough, and I highly recommend them to anyone looking for a wedding caterer!

We recently had a reunion luncheon and banquet at the gorgeous Riverhouse and couldn't have been more pleased. Hattie Ruehl, the Special Events Manager helped us through all the questions and details of organizing our events. She was extremely helpful and professional and a delight for all our group to work with. Under the direction of Kelley Smith, the Gen. Mgr., and a great supporting staff, our events went flawlessly and the food was excellent. The setting with a balcony overlooking the Connecticut River was a bonus. I highly recommend the Riverhouse for any event you may be planning for southern CT.

Went here for a wedding. As a former event planner, I loved the layout of this place. Probably my favorite feature was the central bar that can be accessed from different rooms and basically any part of the building. Nice big deck/balcony with view of the river. Food service was timely and above average quality. I could see holding any number of events here whatever the occasion.

One word - AMAZING! Everything from the staff, to the venue, to the food was above and beyond every review we read and every expectation we set. The staff was incredible, always accommodating, always smiling, thoughtful, smart, and so much fun! The girls we worked with (Hattie, Kelley, and Mary) were a blast, and they're not just bridal coordinators, they became our friends! Our day was perfect and the Riverhouse staff is responsible for a day full of success. Their attention to detail and motivation to make every brides day the perfect day really made all the difference in the world. You don't feel like just another wedding when you get married at the Riverhouse, you feel like the only wedding in the world. This is a high class venue and the experience is just that. My husband and I saved for a year to get married here and every penny was well spent. Thank you again for making our day so special!

Food was not great and many people that ate their food had stomach issues later on. I was also expecting the river to be close to the venue. Only view is off the back deck where they cleared some trees.
