Who are these people who rate this place below a 5 star????? Words can't describe the food here its beyond amazing! Owner is friendly and so is his wife! My wife and I stopped In from New Jersey on our way up to Maine couple weeks ago to grab a bite to eat and decided here i walked in and you start floating towards the amazing bbq smell. And owner asked us next time to bring in pork roll from nj since we are famous for it lmao! I will be stopping here everytime I'm up in that area!!!

In the area visiting and was searched out the Rig Rig on the Internet. Ordered pulled pork, jerk pork, beef brisket sandwiches. All the sandwiches were tasty, but the brisket was maybe a bit dry. We had an order of mac and cheese, which was really nice side. The baked beans were a real treat, next time I'll get enough to have leftovers.

Pig Rig was recommended by a guy (maybe the owner) at 2 Guys 1 Grill (Wallingford). Thanks 2G1G...very good recommendation. The lady who took the order & 2 other guys (1 may have been the owner) were very friendly. I ordered the 1/2 rack of baby back ribs, Cowboy beans, smoked cornbread, & 6 oz brisket w/side of BBQ sauce. The ribs were tender but a lil fatty on the back side. The brisket was really good and the sauce had a slight kick to it. When, not if, but when I return, I would probably forgo the ribs as the main meat and order brisket. The Cowboy beans & cornbread were both good and I would buy both again. I would recommend giving Pig Rig BBQ a try. I believe you will be pleased.

Brisket and mac and cheese were delicious. Ribs were good, but not falling off the bone. Pulled pork tasted like fish (weird). Beans were good, but a little too spicy for me. Cornbread was overly sweet - more like birthday cake. Service was friendly and fast.

I made a large catering order from here, and they were lovely. Very nice people, everything was delicious! I got so many compliments from the food, I even had the urge to say I made it all myself LOL. The chicken wings were delicious and flavorful, good. The bbq ribs were fall off the bone delicious. I still think about those ribs quite often. Well, we ordered a smoked Turkey for thanksgiving (we never do turkey on thanksgiving because its never eaten) but from them it was also very delicious! Juicy, succulent, aromatic, smoky. Easy to heat up. A little pricey but its worth it. The turkey was gone by the end of the day!!! A first for us. I love this place.

Best BBQ in CT! Food is awesome, Staff s friendly and fast. I have known these guys since they were serving out of the trailer. You won't find friendlier faces, faster service or better food served anywhere else in New Haven County. Conveniently located just off the Parkways exit 66 and only a couple of minutes from I91 exit 68. Worth the trip from anywhere in CT.

I ordered food for my family over the weekend. I called in the order and the man who took the order was very pleasant. He had great costumer service. When I went to pick up my order I was surprised by the very cute dining area which I didn't know they had. I had to double check my take out bag and there were a couple sides missing but they got them for me right away. We went home and ate and everything was hot and delicious! Even my picky kids enjoyed it. I think next time we will eat there to enjoy the atmosphere!

This is a great BBQ place right in Wallingford. The staff are always nice and friendly here. And since our last visit, they have expanded and now have a large dining area. This gives this place that extra touch that it needed. Now onto the food! What can I say - the make great BBQ. I've tried a variety of their meats before and they are all good. They have a nice selection of BBQ sauces that you can add to your meal, with options ranging from spicy to sweet and tangy. Their collards, Mac and cheese, and cowboy beans are excellent and never fail to please when you take them to a gathering. Yes, they cater and they are reasonably priced. On this particular chilly, Fall day I opted for their chilli and a side of corn bread. The chilli was piping hot and tasted great. I added in some spicy BBQ sauce to kick up the heat and that made it perfect. The corn bread was a tad dry (but I'm yet to have excellent corn bread anywhere). My husband got the brisket sandwich with collards and it was big! Didn't stop him from wolfing it down, so needless to say, he loved every bite. We'll definitely keep coming back here.

We went for a birthday gathering, first time to this BBQ restaurant. Out of the hundreds of other BBQ restaurants ive been too this place ranks in my top 5. Amazing meat and sides. Burnt ends and chilli mac is amazing. The owner stopped us on our way out and had a nice conversation with us about his business and was really friendly. Definitely recommend this place. Only negative is it was a bit chilli ( no pun intended) during the winter months so brimg a sweatshirt or coat with you. By no means let this defer you from the amazing food

I was not really impressed with the food here. I ordered the Carolina pulled pork sandwich... the coleslaw had no flavor and the Carolina sauce was not right. The pork however was tender. The chilimac and cheese was so spicy I couldn't even eat it.

This place is tucked away in the right, very back corner of the strip mall but you could smell the yummy Bar-b-q smoke in the air while driving down Yale Ave. We ordered 2 of the 2 meat combo with pulled pork and oh so tender brisket. The actual chef brought our meals and 2 sides: Potatoes salad and greens + mac n cheese and cowboy bakes beans. You also have a choice of cornbread or sweet potato bread that comes with each meal. The food did not disappoint and the service was prompt as well. Also noticed they offer food truck and catering services, to bring their yummy bar-b-q goodness to your party or event.

The food is very good. Pulled pork sandwich with mac and cheese is my favorite. The mac and cheese has a real smokey flavor to it with bits of bacon and pulled pork. The staff is always friendly. The chili is spicy and delicious, although it's a little on the small size because it comes served on top of mac and cheese. The pulled pork has a lot of flavor; don't really need the delicious barbecue sauce.

Stopped by on a Sunday afternoon after remembering someone telling me to try this place out. The food was delicious! The portions are generous and the prices more than fair (especially considering how pricey BBQ can be) My pulled pork sandwich was so yummy and the Mac and Cheese is awesome. The corn bread was really good as well, but a little too sweet for me. We sat outside with our dog and they were super accommodating and even offered water for her. The food was so filling I had to take some of it home for a "snack" for later that day. We will absolutely be back!

I went here to check out a regular dinner after my friends wedding was catered from here. This is the only real place to get bbq. I’m southern and when we moved up here, I was seriously disappointed in every bbq joint we went to. This place does it right!! It’s smoky, tender and the sauces are perfect. Pig rig has always impressed me. I've tried almost everything on the menu and have never been disappointed. My go to is the brisket sandwich with collard greens which have BACON in them. The side of beans has pork and brisket in it. The hot dogs can get covered in pork. Everything is delicious! We recently had them cater our company picnic and they even made a pretty good looking salad along all their delicious beef, pork, chicken, ribs, etc. If you're looking for local BBQ, pig rig is the place to go.

We have BBQ in CT. It's no secret to locals that this is the place to go for legitimate outstanding BBQ. Smoked mac and cheese? Brisket? Yes please! They started as a food truck and segued into a brick and mortar. They made a good decision. Their menu is amazing and also witty. The owner is a proud US Army vet, and they have daily trivia questions that can earn you a free (scrumptious) rib. Just do yourself a favor and hit this place up right now.

I brought my family here for the first time. We were a large party and the owner and his staff took amazing care of us! The food was outstanding. The energy in there was uplifting. WOW! What a huge change in quality from my two previous visits! I had given up on Pig Rig, but was in the vicinity and decided to give them one more chance. I'm certainly glad I did! The ribs I had today had a nice smoke ring, were falling off the bone tender, had the same perfect dry rub, and just the right amount of sauce to give them flavor without overwhelming the taste of the meat, just as they had when I first ate here, two years ago. The mac and cheese was as good as always, with a nice, smokey, cheesy flavor, but wasn't soggy and overcooked as before. When I mentioned that it wasn't soggy this time, the friendly lady that took my order said they'd changed the way they make it. Perhaps they were paying attention to the critical reviews. The cornbread was as moist and full of corn flavor as always. Thanks, Pig Rig. You've regained my patronage.

Unfortunately after reviewing my post I realized I forgot to comment about the amount of fat in the food now I've done hundreds of pig roast and cook pork BBQ the last 35 years as a retired chef and I've always skimmed off the fat you know after it's cooked skimming off the top but they don't seam to this easy fat removal, at least in my opinion , and it's very fatty but good

The employees behind the counter and grill were extremely nice to me and friendly. But the owners of the store were so uptight and rude that it made me never want come again. I was picking up food and was told that I couldn’t even take it becuase I didn’t show up with a bag due to their “policy”! What kind of policy is that!? I’ve never heard of such in my life and am so disgusted by the rude remarks made by the owner and his wife. They even bragged about how delicious the food was supposed to be and asked if I’d been before. I will never come back here due to the owners. The employees were great but owners need to learn how to treat their customers. I’m sure most haven’t met them while dining in, but I’m truly appalled and disgusted with the treatment.

Small BBQ joint with really good food. I was lucky enough to get the burnt ends, they tend to sell out, and I thought they were great. I also really liked the Cole slaw and the corn bread. They have a number of sauces to try, like original, spicy, Carolina, etc. Not bad prices either.

This is the Midway point to hockey tournaments in Boston from New Jersey. Great place to fuel up on some great smoked protein for the players! This is our second time here. The pulled pork it's just amazing! Can't go wrong. I was equally amazed by the smoked chicken. "Off the charts juicy..." The Mac and cheese is just sinful. Well worth it! The only thing needed to make me feel down south is fresh brewed ice tea (sweet tea for those who can handle it). The place is in a strip mall but don't let that slow you down. If they were closer to our house I'd cater family events from the Pig Rig!

Wanted to continue my shortened review, so my buddy had the pulled pork sandwich, it looked perfect and he said it tasted great. Nice roll too. He also had the cowboy beans and like them as much as I. IF this place was less than 2 hours away, I would be there every week! Certainly would stop by again if I was ANYWHERE close. Don't know about the complaints here about shop employees, they were all very nice to us on our visit. Shop is very nice and apparently the dining room is new. If you live in the area and have not been here, you are missing a real treat!

On my first visit I tried the ribs which were cooked perfectly, and today I tried the pulled pork sandwich which was very good. If it had more smoke flavor i would have rated it 5 stars. For a peron who smokes his on Barbecue I will go to Pig Rig on days I'm not cooking. I wish they would do spares over baby backs but never the less in really enjoy the brisket burnt ends. Staff and ownership is ever helpful. We often buy when going to a show down the way at Square Foot Theater.

I came here with some friends for dinner on a Saturday evening. The location is within a shopping center with a large parking lot and pretty easy to see. You order at the counter and then sit at the table where they bring the food to you, and you can even bring your own booze! The food was delicious and very well priced for the sizes that you get. I'd highly recommend the brisket on the menu along with the baked beans.

Absolutely amazing BBQ. My only wish is that they had cheese to put on the sandwich. A slice of cheddar on pulled pork would be great. The food is amazing though. Check them out if you want that southern BBQ taste. Also have catering which is amazing.

If you enjoy BBQ then I can tell you that I love just about everything on the expansive menu. Pulled Pork, Brisket and Burnt Ends! Platters and sandwiches and sides such as Smoked Mac-n-Cheese, Cowboy Beans, Chilli Mac, and occasionally specials like Cheese Grits (with or without bacon). Friendly service willing to answer questions. Take out or eat in (expanded dining room).

Awesome find right off of the highway during a road trip a few years back. I always make sure to stop in whenever I'm passing through CT. I love the pulled pork and their bbq sauce is awesome. Make sure you try their Mac and cheese and cowboy baked beans as sides.

Found this place through a friend who sent me their groupon deal. Everything I've had there has been excellent, clean environment, and friendly staff. Best bbq in the wallingford area in my opinion. Also great to support a veteran owned business

Excellent food and wonderful staff! Veteran owned and operated with authentic BBQ dishes. The brisket is to die for, and they offer a variety of homemade sauces to add if desired. The smell alone will have your mouth watering!

Owner is extremely friendly, food was prepared in a timely manner, and it tasted great too! Fun environment. Some of the best burnt ends we’ve ever had, we loved the smokey mac ‘n cheese, baked beans & cornbread tasted great too. Just a little tricky to find because the sign wasn’t hung and we had never been. Highly recommend!
