Stopped here for dinner Saturday night because it was between our hotel and the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford. It was a packed house and we cut it close with only an hour and a half before our show. We explained the situation and they seated us got our food orders in and served in short time. Wish we had more time to get more food but we got in and out in time for our show. Thank you Gaetano's

I visited this establishment for the first time last night for a late night meal and I was pleasantly surprised. The food is not so typical pub fare and served by extremely friendly and efficient servers. My steak and cheese sandwich was just so-so, but my wife absolutely loved her pulled pork sandwich. Another dining partner lived the chili and get it every time they come here. They offer a nice selection of wines by the glass, although they did run out of the William Hill Chardonnay that I was drinking. Anyway, I would definitely return and I can most assuredly recommend this restaurant.

Enjoyed this restaurant tonight in the downtown of Wallingford. Service was excellent, staff was friendly, food was delicious! Large portions, tasty and just perfect. I had the Chicken French dip dinner, which was two big chicken breasts, over mashed potatoes with a French onion au jus. My husband has the Chicken stack! We will be back.

French fries were awesome and the service was great. Our bison burgers were over cooked and I wished I had ordered something else. Huge menu, lots to choose from otherwise. Pretty pricey for somewhat an average meal. Might have been an off day, but I'm not sure if I would give this place a second chance.

We are frequent visitors to your Restaurant, and the reason we are, is the food is delicious, you make one feel comfortable, and the waitstaff you have are so nice friendly & can't do enough for us. We think the cook (s) are fabulous!!!! We loved the story about "Goober" the turtle, and are so happy Goober is back home,for both him and your sister. Don't stop what you're doing, ever, and Please, don't close!!! We bring many others to your establishment,and all feel the same as we do. Former Antiques/Flea Market (from what I have heard) not a great local restairant with fresh seafood, well marinated steak,dishes and a menu trending toward Otalian with a modern and home-cooked feel. I love this place! The staff is so friendly,polite and courteous. I have never had any errors with my food or drink orders (which is a huge plus, since it means they care about the customers). Great sized portions of food and delicious! I love the buffalo chicken bread. Usually live music and an interesting crowd of patrons. If you're tired of pompous neighborhood bars and looking for a nice bar/restaurant to relax and enjoy... this is the place!! I recommend 100%!

I was here for a bridal shower with a buffet, so my review is for that. This is a small restaurant with a back room for separate gatherings. There is practically no parking in front, but does have a large parking area in back. Unfortunately, there is a long, narrow flight of stairs to get to restaurant when parking in back which deducts a star from review. The food I had in buffet was very good. It wasn't a wow meal, but it was hearty Italian fare.

Extremely disappointed with our visit last night. I understand being busy on a Saturday evening and service being slower, so I'll forgive that because our server was very polite. We went for drinks and appetizers. The house red wine is Crane Lake (gross) so I upgraded to the Louis Martini Cabernet for the additional $2. I was served a plastic cup of $8 wine. I was looking forward to the Buffalo bread, I had enjoyed it here years ago. It was soggy bread covered in so much orange cheese you couldn't even tell if there was chicken on it at all. The fried zucchini was obviously frozen and served on a bed of wilted lettuce. I will not be returning to or recommending this place.

we've been going to Gaetanos for years,drinks,Happy Hour ,dinner and have always had a good experience. Owners Deb and Cheryl always greet us with a smile,Jess the bartender makes a fine Martini. The fried clams with bellies are by far the best around, no need to drive to the shore, and dont sell their steamed cheesburger short, its excellent, never had anything on the menu we did like. Meal and drink prices are all reasonable, Gaetano's is among the fine restaurants in Wallingford.

Never go here!!! I had a reservation for 6:30 got there and they had no idea what I was talking about! By 7:45 I had a crunched up table in the bar area!!! Not where I wanted to sit!! On top of it I was charged a 20% service charge on my bill without my waitress telling me!!! Great place if u wanna have a terrible time!!!!

Worst place Ive honestly been in town. The bartenders are quite inhospitable. Its actually quite abhorrent the way they treat their customers. Food is substandard despite the menu being very basic yet it feels convoluted in its overall style. This place seems as though they can't do anything right. I hope this review will help others to avoid this very depressing place. Upsetting to have this travesty right in the beautiful town center. :(

No way... you will sit there with a bunch of drunks trying to play Karaoke and you will want to crawl under the table. Staff was very pleasant but food was just satisfactory. Ordered full rack of ribs thinking it would be too much food. Glad I did. Very little meat and what was there was very overcooked and dry. Veggies were mush. Baked potato was the best part. Had to beg for rolls...seemed like the chef didn't have any are was challenged by the request. Will try other places before I go back and if I do, will not give chef such a challenging (?) order...will order beer

We chose to go to this place for my fathers birthday. We came in few days early to ask if they do anything for birthdays. We were told they could bring out a little dessert and sing happy birthday. So far so good. When we came in there was nobody but us in restaurant section. This place probably lives from the bar on the other side and it was showing. My father ordered a beer and it got delivered with a super dirty glass. When we asked for a new one he was given another dirty glass. Needles to say he ended up drinking from the bottle. When our food came in we found out that they didn't place the order for the soup my father ordered. I had a panini and if it wouldn't be for the pineapple it would taste like nothing. My mother ordered chicken pasta and it came with entire chicken breast, as in one piece and the taste was also not great, really mediocre. My fathers risotto was swimming in oil. And as for the dessert that was meant to be a surprise? Nobody knew anything about it. We ended up ordering one anyway but nobody sang as promised beforehand. And the price was ridiculous even if it wouldn't be terrible. You're better off going to Chilli's, no joke.

Very disappointing. The place is charming but the food and service left a lot to be desired. My friend's chicken was very dry, and my requested Med-Well burger was very Med rare. Waitress never came back to ask if we needed anything until we were done. When she left the check, which we had to ask for even though she knew we had a show to catch, she dropped it on her way by us, on the opposite side of the table from where we sat. My friend had to get out of her seat to pick up the check. All this however, would have been avoided had we seen the condition of the ladies room before we ordered.....we would have gone somewhere else!

Had dinner here with a larger party (7 people). Dining room was not too busy, decent atmosphere. The bar and dining area was larger than I expected, definitely don't feel crowded in, also had a nice outdoor eating/patio area. The service was a little slow and not very receptive. When asked for drinks, we asked for a water with lemon but were told by the waitress that she would bring a pitcher of water over. During dinner we asked for extra napkins but never ended up getting them. Also, took about 20 minutes after eating to get our check which was a little frustrating but not the end of the world. The food was good. Appetizers seemed like a good amount of food for the cost, and the entree special I had was good. The one thing that kind of turned us off at the start was a note that was a part of the table menu listing drinks, deserts, etc. It stated "Our goal is for everyone to always leave our restaurant satisfied but at times we do mess up because unfortunately we are not perfect." While the message is fine and acceptable, we couldn't help but wonder why this had to be stated as it was. It is one of those things that by stating it, you are trying to excuse mistakes before they happen. Rather than remembering the food, we left remembering the odd note. Overall not a bad spot, service was slow and it was a slower night, other than that it was a decent place to eat in the area.

My husband and I went for Happy Hour: $5 appetizers and $1.75 beers. We were told we couldn't use my birthday $10 gift from the restaurant because Happy Hour is excluded. We ordered and got our beers, but the less-than-friendly waitress didn't come back for our food order for almost 15 minutes. We ordered 5 appetizers because she said the maximum allowed was 2-3 each. A much more pleasant waitress brought our food, and she was very attentive for the rest of our meal. However, we believe it was the owner who came to take our payment, and immediately scolded us for ordering more than 1 appetizer each, and she stayed quite annoyed with us even after we explained that we had been told a different story. We left feeling that we had been treated quite poorly for most of the time we were there. I would have given them only 1 star, except that the food was good and we did encounter 1 friendly staff member

I had Gaetano's for my father's funeral luncheon. Not only was the room beautiful, with white linens, florals, attractive buffet, and plenty of comfortable seating, but the food was excellent, as was the service. It met and exceeded my expectations. Use them with confidence.

We ordered oysters on the half shell. We got fried oysters. Thought we might just try them. They were OK. Salad was cheap iceberg lettuce. Tasteless. We all order racks of ribs. Not fall off the bone they were tough as hell. Who the hell can eat 1 1/2 cups of mashed potatoes. Over priced. Drinks were 6.00 a piece. Service was so slow we were there for almost 4 hours and didn t even have dessert. Never go back.
