It's an awesome place with great food and atmosphere. It just needs fans on the new patio since its already 90 degrees here at 10 am and a bridge over the stream connecting the overflow parking lot with the business. Then it should be nearly perfect.

This is truly a hidden gem in etowah county. It is so nice and laid-back and the food is always amazing.I personally believe you can never go wrong with a barbecue plate. It's all cooked to order so unless you call ahead you do have to wait, but waiting is half of the fun. They have a little store setup with some unusual finds. I do not know how they do it but everyone they hire always has the best attitudes and the friendliest welcomes. They truly make you feel like they remember you every single visit (It almost feels like they ask me how my mama is doing). This is without a doubt a place that I will continue to support.

This is a great place to eat. You can dine in or carry out from a variety of available food items. The taste and quality of their smoked chicken, turkey, sausage and pork is always excellent and you can also purchase freshly cooked and packaged pork skins in a variety of flavors. And don't forget to pick up some freshly prepared dessert items. It's all good!

Hate to say it, but low value for the $$. If you have tons of $$ and don't mind average food, you are at home. If I had Microsoft stock and didn't have to work for my money this would be a quaint place.

The Worst Fishing Show Ever

I had the pleasure of doing a review on local joes last weekend. To say I was pleased would be an understatement. Great service, great atmosphere, and great food. I scored the bbq well ( you can see the full review next week on the worst fishing show ever on Tuesday) all and all great place to go have a bbq.

Omg this is the absolute best place EVER!! It's this little country store looking place but they by far have the best bbq in not just the state of Alabama but probably the south too. I've been a loyal patron for the past three years. They have delicious food and dessert as well as some really cool items they sell from local farmers. Their bbq sauce is awesome....its tangy and goes really well with the smoky flavor all their food has. My favorite is the turkey with a side of mac and cheese and a cake ball for dessert. They are open Monday through Saturday until 7p.m. and they also cater events...which I highly recommend because everyone will love it. I have done this on several occasions and that's all anyone talks about the whole time is how great the food is.

Great little "Hole in the wall BBQ shack" and more! Limited inside seating, but they added some covered outside areas. Always friendly, prompt service, and tons of local choices you will only find there. This place used to be an old general store/true service station. You might not be able to tell by just visiting. They also cater, so if you are interested... please check them out!

I tried Local Joe's on 04-05-2018 for the first time and it is 5 Stars, they are the example of Southern hospitality. Their BBQ and smoked turkey breast is 1st place as I am concerned (haven't tried the side items yet). This is hands down my favorite BBQ place.

Smoked turkey is a very nice surprise. Excellent. The potato salad is also top notch. Cole slaw is quite good, a little different than most I have had. I'll be going back to try the pork, then I'll have a better basis for comparison since this is the only time I've had smoked turkey. If the other meats live up to the turkey it deserves 5 stars. Update: I returned and tried the pork. My standard for comparison in Alabama is Tin Top, down by Calera. This is not up to their standard. The meat is fine, but the sauce is lacking. This time I tried some of the pastry as well, which was very good. Overall I'll stick with the 4 star rating.

Ribs had no meat on them...pulled pork was very fatty and lacked flavor. Prices are way too high for what you get...but we have had their catered food...the smoked chicken and chopped pork that were served were excellent. ..

Stopped here for just to rest a sec during a bike ride and decided to eat a bite. I had the pork bbq sandwich. My mom had the same plus a side of potato salad and my daughter had the plain nachos and we all had a regular drink. After our meal, I had a fried coconut pie, my daughter had some brownie bites and my mom had a piece of peanut cluster candy. All of this homemade mind you. It was every bit fantastic. On top of the food the ladies taking our order and working the front were super friendly. Other than food they have several gift items such as homemade soaps, novelty foods and homemade jams and such. Definitely has made my list of must stops while traveling along Hwy. 411 next time

Wonderful food and atmosphere. My friend and I stopped in to give Local Joe's a try and we were not disappointed. He got the smoked turkey, I had the pork. Both were delicious. Sides were very good, also. Quick service, clean dining room, and more treats, sweets, sauces, and jellies to purchase to take home were pluses. We certainly plan on returning and will quickly recommend Local Joe's to everyone. Prices are good, quality of food is excellent. A winner!
