REVIEWS OF Cyn Shea's IN Alabama

Ben Payment

Lots of Jesus stuff, little spendy and nice ambiance.

Julie Bishop

Cyn Shea's has a delicious Saturday morning brunch with a jazz band playing in the background. Their blueberry pancakes are exceptional!

Zach Johnson

I think they love Jesus!

Jim Williams

Great staff. Quality food. Decent options. Limited wait-time (sometimes lines form). Great tea! Nice location/outdoor seating.

Sundra Keck

Great food, nice atmosphere, great music! Thanks.

Billy Ashmall

Food was so so, atmosphere seems like it could be so much more. Bathrooms are gross!

Hannah Christine

Awesome little place to eat. Great atmosphere and equally great service. I try to stop by when I'm in town visiting my boyfriend and have tried the french toast and breakfast tacos... Both were delicious!

Mikki M.

The wait staff were inattentive, standing around in a nearly empty dining room, and when we finally managed to get their attention (mind you, this is at a counter, not a table) they were surly and unhelpful, not making eye contact or smiling. The coffee was good, though.

Great Food

Joe Crowhurst

Fantastic place and sweet staff

Lee Willis

First visit was fantastic. Jazz band for Saturday brunch, very relaxing and enjoyable.

Christina Page

Delicious food and a great community support program.

daphne arriaga

The food is good but the atmosphere is relaxing

Z

A pretty good place to go. I think they are hurting from the road construction. I would say the food is better than the service, or at least when I was there.

Jessica Wortman

Mint Julep tea is amazing! Everything is great here!

Crystal Griepentrog

Great lunch spot. Servers sometimes confused about where food goes. Our order was delivered in installments.

Ms. J

Fresh and wonderful food

Previous review: Phenomenal chicken salad. The avocado ranch is delicious! And if you are lucky enough to be there on a day that chef Joey does a special of his, it will blow your mind! Update: Chef Joey is no longer at this restaurant. He has apparently gone into private practice. No surprise there considering his high level of expertise. Edit: Never going here again. Yes, the food is good, not wonderful but good (a bit overpriced). But, my family and I will not support a business where the employees are treated with such venom. I received the wrong plate, it came to the right table but the employee sat the plates in front of the wrong people, 3 of our party of 5 were in the restroom. When we came back to the table we laughingly exchanged our plates with one another. The owner witnessed this and berated the employee loudly and in front of everyone. Just wrong! No excuse for treating fellow human beings this way!

Cyn Shea's is a wonderful brunch venue set up almost like a cafeteria style cafe. I had a excellent crunchy yet soft on the inside croissant breakfast sandwich with crispy bacon and fluffy eggs. I would recommend ordering additional cheese on the sandwich for there was very little cheese on my sandwich. My husband had the steak sandwich which he said was very tasty with a bit of heat from the melody of peppers. We were there right at the switch over from breakfast to lunch which worked out perfect for us as I love eggs but my husband does not. A co-worker recommended the mint julip tea, we will have to go back and try that next time. If you bring your Cyn Shea cup back refills are much cheaper. This cafe has a cozy religious atmosphere, the staff we spoke to were very nice and courteous. There is also a unique gift shop attached with thoughtful gifts and local gifts such as the tufted pillow with Huntsville across the center. I would definitely recommend this cafe.

Tom Kurzenbaum

Love this place...a hidden gem!

Stephen Yancey

Very cool atmosphere and great food.

Morgan Robichaud

I went here for a work related party. Very nice staff that made me feel like royalty, making sure everything was perfect and that I had everything I needed. One person at the party had an issue with gluten and could not have it or have it touch her other food. The staff went above and beyond to help her out and were sweet about it as well. Very good food and clean atmosphere as well!

Jay Dryden

Great place to eat always friendly service and good food.

Don Bowyer

Live jazz brunch every Saturday.

Jason Helton

Had the Cuban with a side of mac. Best restaurant Mac n cheese I've had!

Chasady Ochoa

Wonderful food and atmosphere, you must try the Apple turkey!!!!

Mark Moore

Very good choices. The cheese grits, shrimp, salmon, and chicken tacos were great. Great atmosphere and couches.

Mickey Campbell

Great place for breakfast. Love the reason for cyn shea's caf'e.

Johnje Jasper

Very cute place and I appreciate the mission. Food was great but it's over priced and when my boyfriend's order wasn't correct (it was placed with no bacon, but they put it on anyway) the lady questioned him rather than believing him.

Celese Sanders

Such a wonderful atmosphere and amazing food! I think I'll keep having meetings there. Plus, they provide training opportunities for people. I'm so impressed!

Clark L

At this bright and welcoming spot you will find friendly staff, good food and a place with a heart to serve people--both inside and outside of their restaurant.

Tala McCreless

Overpriced for what you get. Not great service either.

Al Daniels

An award-winning establishment that is truly bucket-list worthy. Powered by the vision to transform broken lives in the community, you will not be disappointed by the warm southern hospitality that makes this place unforgettable. Last, but most importantly, the light southern fare and brunch menu is perfectly executed.

Joanne Petree

I wish I could put 3 1/2 stars. Mac and cheese was yummy and so was my salmon sandwich but it was soggy underneath. I couldn’t figure out why. My daughter thought her chicken panini was okay. The prices are a little steep. Very quaint restaurant and the employees are very friendly.

Maddison Bruer

Banana pudding is excellent, Jack Daniels topping is delicious. They have a great cause so you eat there with a purpose. Ambiance is comforting. Good spot for lunch

luis porras

Love the food and the service

Scott Lowe

We love the place. The food is great and the setting is awesome. For us it is a bit pricey but we will keep coming back. We have been here for both lunch and breakfast.

Food and service are always above the bar :)

Joel Sullivan

I have dined at Cyn Shea's since it opened at this location 13 years ago. I was there this morning for the first time in few years. The service and quality outs still exceptional!

Kris Kasprzak

I thought the food was pretty darn good kind of a gourmet feel. I've been there a few times and we'll go back huge variety on coffee drinks as

My husband just brought me the most fantastic, wonderful, Ruben from Cyn Shea's. I haven't had a sandwich this good since I moved here from Pittsburgh.

Sue Esslinger

Great, fresh food, friendly service, relaxing atmosphere. The Saturday jazz brunch was terrific!

Candess Austin

Fine ambiance, exceptional food, and excellent service.

Pamela Henson

Wonderful atmospere. Very positive and inspirational.

Had a large bowl of homemade mushroom soup and it was outstanding. The other six folks also said their meals were great.

Makis

Blueberry Pancakes with coffee and live Jazz music on Saturday morning! Just perfect.

Brad McClellan

The salad was great, the staff was helpful. It is a good place for talking. Not everyone liked the sandwiches they got

Jonathan Cassagne

Awesome. Good food. Can't wait to go catch that brunch menu.

Laurinda Morrow

Food was good but a bit pricey for the amount served.

Aishia Thurman

This place is The Best Sandwich Shop Hands down

Cambe Brown

Difficult Owner. I was gong to use them to cater my wedding reception. Due to a medical complication I was forced to change locations. The new location would not allow for outside catering. The owner, Cynthia, is more concerned about making money than trying to work with me. She will not return my phone calls. However she did make time to email me and use caps in one of the emails. Needless to say she was yelling at me via, email. She has added to my stress and has no remorse. Think twice before using them for catering because if something beyond your control happens she only cares about her losses. It is a shame because I picked them because they were a Christian business.

Brandie Robinson

We recently participated in Dinner & a Movie. The food was great! I plan on doing it again!

Joy Waters Martin

Wonderful food...great atmosphere...cozy and a very kind and pleasant staff.

charlotte howell

Fish Tacos were great & salad with grilled watermelon was also exceptional!

Jenesis Hunter

Beautiful cafe and free guest wifi.

Tyler Griffin

This is a great place! Cynthia has created a wonderful menu full of items that are rare and items that are make you look forward to the next time you visit so you can try something different. Desserts are over the top. If you dont eat it there you need to get one to go. You will not regret it. Finally, the staff here is always super nice and ready to serve you as best they can. This is truly one of the must eat or have lunch locations in Huntsville. Dont miss it.

Kathleen Skemp Zimmerman

This used to be one of my favorite places to go for lunch and was a five star. I’d give it a three now, other than the fabulous Saturday jazz brunch, which standing alone gets a 4. The prices have gotten crazy, given that sides are no longer included. A sandwich, chips and drink runs about $15 and the quality isn’t what it used to be. My favorites are the turkey & apple sandwich, the blueberry pancakes and the French toast. The Cuban has pork with bbq sauce rather than just smoked and it was very salty. My friends ordering any of the salmon dishes have been disappointed.

Camillia King-Stanley

I absolutely adore this place! It's quaint, intimate and the food is divine! Love Cynthia's patience and willingness to make suggestions and answer questions about the menu. My favorite place for mother daughter time with my mom!

Susan Adams

Local owner. Helps the homeless

kitt Tidwell

Overpriced for things you could just get at walmart

MaryBeth Pendley

The Vermont Maple Salad is delicious! The friends I dined with were complimentary of chicken salad & the croissants.

Sheila Jones

I used to really enjoy Shea's. I used to be a regular. I loved the food. But I haven't been there in a year. I had a couple of incidences of bad service... wrong food delivered to table.... one time no food was brought out and our order was lost. So I stopped coming. Today I decided to give it another try. Came in for lunch and there were a number people there at noon, but restaurant was maybe half full. No line at the order counter. I walked up to place an order... the cashier told us it would be an hour wait for food. We asked her why and she wasn't sure but said that's what she'd been told. I'm afraid I'm forced to give up and won't be back. Very confusing. It's a shame because I love the food. It's all management and service issues.

Julie Claeren

I thought it was pretty good! Prices for what we got were fairly decent, maybe a tad high. My food tasted great (the ham and Brie with dijonnaise and raspberry preserves panini and homemade mac and cheese), but those who got the pot roast said it was pretty salty. The atmosphere was amazing! They had a great live jazz band performing, which I thoroughly enjoyed.

Andrea Simpson

This has become one of my favorite local spots since moving to Huntsville from Atlanta. The food here is AMAZING! Very tasty. The staff is super friendly and just overall an awesome experience. It's worth every cent you spend here. My favorite is the cyn seared salad with added salmon. So good! And when you're done browse through the local store connected to the restaurant. Highly recommended. Support Local!!!!

Chris Gordon

Cyn Shea's is always a great place to get a meal. Really great atmosphere and good food (and tea).

Gail Bundow

Great Reuben. Out of chicken salad, and it was only 1130am!

Sergio Chargualaf

The food is worth every penny you spend on it. I've never left hungry or unsatisfied. Wish I could eat here more often.

Stephanie Vasse

Really delicious, fast, and fresh. Great salmon BLT, not fishy at all. I love the mint julep tea, like everyone does. You don't need a side IMO, the sandwiches are HUGE! But they are delicious if you spend the extra 1.89. (Note: restaurant is very Christian, crosses and prayer walls everywhere.)

Mel Lo

The atmosphere and the food is great!

Paula Lindon

Absolutely love this place! Always amazing food!

Casie Kennemer

It's ok

Tia Wheeler

Food is pretty good but service is sometimes a little slow. Mint julep iced tea is amazing!

Allen Meeks

Mary Benjamin

food sucks!

Dan De Jong

Great atmosphere for a quaint sit down or private conversation with great food.

Dannette Anderson

This place was great. Food was superb.

Jarret Ramsdale

I came here while visiting relatives. I ordered the greek salad which was just OK. The standouts to me were the sides, especially the cornbread & the macaroni. The cornbread was sweet, crisp, and had pieces of real corn in it. The macaroni was so cheesy and decadent.

Aimee Paprotny

Very good food

Sha G

I ONLY BEEN HERE ONE TIME..BUT I WILL BE BACK..GOOD CUSTOMER SERVICE..I ORDER THE BREAKFAST OMELETS WILL BE REPLICATING THESE @ HOME..YUMM..PRICE WAS OK..LOOKING AT THE MENU I THINK THE PRICES COULD BE LIKE $1 OFF..BUT IT WASNT TOO BAD..ONLY LOOKED AT BREAKFAST AND BUNCH MENU..SO CNT SPEAK FOR DINNER BUT I WOULD LIKE TO TRY A PASTRY AND A DINNER ITEM @ THE LEAST. ONCE I TRY SOME MORE ITEMS, THEY MAY RECEIVE 5 STARS LOL

Bobby Treece

I’ve had a good experience and I’ve had a terrible experience. My first experience, the pancakes were amazing! Good mimosa, okay music (certainly not jazz). The second experience I ordered the quiche and it was still frozen in the center, I told my waitress, she said “I’ll throw it in the microwave some more,” I’m not upset that they microwave it. I know how things in the kitchen work, quiche takes a while to cook. That piece however had already dried out on the top and was too tough to eat when it came back, pure rubber. I’d still suggest giving it a try, just don’t order the quiche. I go in for their mammoth sized cinnamon roll every now and then!

Melodie Thomas

Went into Shea's today. So many things have changed for the worse. The salad I used to get is now smaller and with no chicken. If I want chicken, it is $3.50 extra. If I want cornbread with it versus a roll, it is now $2 extra. What a rip off. I won't be returning. They have raised the prices, but nothing else. The guy that waited on me at the counter - didn't listen to my order.

Michael Colston

Really good good and a nice atmosphere.

Darlene Carpenter

Limited menu but a great program. People are great and the do a wonderful service for the community! Not many Gluten Free options.

Shileshia Milligan

awesome food and atmosphere. I love the staff here.

Lauren Linder

Very kind people who were understanding of and helpful with a family member with social anxiety, plus yummy food.

Steven Bruffy

Wonderful food with a nice inviting and comfortable atmosphere. They bake the breads in house. You can also see the rotisserie for the chicken from the counter. They offer breakfast and lunch. On Saturdays they also offer a brunch menu. They have domestic as well as local beers, Mimosas, Bloody Marys, and the typical coffee drinks. They cafe also does catering, and has a program to help disadvantaged people learn to cook, become ServSafe certified, and also help place graduates with local hospitality and food service jobs. Wonderful place to eat. Give it a try.

Geneva Llewellyn

Great food & nice atmosphere. Friendly staff.

Jesus Christ

Come on and dance

Felecia Mcalpine

Live jazz music with a tasty brunch. Nice gift shop.

Luke Powell

Catering order for dinner party of 30...perfect!

Beth Hoffman

Wonderful food and atmosphere, excellent value for the money. Always clean and friendly staff!

Kasey Thompson

I just had an unpleasant experience. We waited over 30 minutes for a sandwich while the rest of the food was done in less than 10. When I attempted to check on the status of my sandwich I was treated disrespectfully by a member of the staff. After another 10 minutes of waiting we presented the receipt and were handed a now cold panini off the counter and again spoken to in a disrespectful manner by the same staff member. I will not be returning any time soon.

Randall Tibbs

Great fish tacos!

Javonne Hines

Great food and atmosphere!

Kait Law

Everytime I visit Cyn Shea's, I already know what I want to get- their delicious Chicken Panini. I've tried some of their other meals off my boyfriends plate and EVERYTHING they make is amazing

Paula Cotton

First time eating here with my DIL food was delicious.

Gean Johnson

Cyn Shea's is always great! I've been there many times for breakfast/brunch/lunch and have never been disappointed. I ordered a cake from there for my wife's birthday and it was one of the best cakes we've ever had. If there is a negative, it would be that you don't get your order very quickly, but quality takes time.

Jo Ann Milam

Been to Saturday Jazz Brunch several times, love it! Wonderful cranberry bread turkey sandwich! Great atmosphere;)

Jennifer Eason

Have only been to Cyn Shea's twice: once for lunch, once for cake and coffee. My lunch salad looked as if it had been thrown together in a great hurry. Tasted alright but looked odd for a restaurant salad. On the subsequent cake and coffee visit, our cake had good flavor but unfortunately was a little on the dry side. The coffee was good but is served extremely hot, handle with care! The drink/silverware station was an unappetizing sight: it needed a good cleaning and is in too close proximity to a large garbage can. On the plus side, the atmosphere is pleasant, the staff were all very helpful and polite, and the fireplaces with couches in front of them make great spots for conversation on a cold day.

Jason Black

The pecan pie was the best I've ever tasted!

George Bell

Always an enjoyable meal with unusual choices.

Darlina Bray

Amazing as always.

Emily Scudero

The sweetest ladies working here. The breakfast plate was okay but the environment and the service would be what would bring me back. This place is good for a traditional American breakfast.

Troy Hester

Exquisite decor. Noble mission. Great food. Great coffee. Service can be a bit uneven, but this is a noble teaching restaurant. Small price to pay for doing a great good. I LOVED holiday jazz music at just the right level at breakfast this morning.

Nancy Steele

Good food. Good service.

Ramon Maisonet

Delicious food! Fresh and very tasty. Very comfortable environment, live music, great prices. Whether it's for a quiet cup of coffee or brunch with friends, I highly recommend.

N.P.

Always wonderful! Greek Salad never disappoints. Mint tea is a nice touch. Try the soup... yummy.

Jennifer Glore

We will absolutely eat here again - wonderful food and great atmosphere!

Brad Hall

Very pleasant atmosphere, excellent quality food. A little tricky to get in and out of, but worth the effort.

OrissaStorm

It was clean and the staff was friendly and tho I didn't eat or order anything there I'm sure their food is great. I just stopped in and asked for greyhound directions lol. They were helpful to point me out in the right direction.

Helen Harrand

Really great place for lunch. We split fish tacos and Greek salad and it was fantastic!

Mallory Dotson

Memphis Tacos....out of this world! And the mac-n-cheese....I could die happy! Wonderful place to eat and great atmosphere!

Deborah Clay

Food was very good and well season.

Paul Hill

I love the mint julep tea!

Cindy Bishop

I love Cyn Shea's, especially their awesome homeade desserts!! The coconut cake is the best I've ever had from a restaurant anywhere! The food is always made with fresh, quality ingredients!! You should definitely make the journey and effort to locate and dine at this locally run, top notch, little "hole in the wall." You'll be surprised to find a classy restaurant with a GREAT gift shop attached! Be warned, though, that after eating there one time, it will become a weekly stop and one of your favorite spots!!!

Don Davis

This is a great place to eat. DELICIOUS! We'll be back!

Lisa McCollum

Really good food for breakfast/brunch! Sometimes the service is slow; once they forgot to bring our food out to the table. I recommend just keeping an eye on the counter and going up to grab your food when you see it come out of the kitchen.

kate massey

Good, but did not have the quaint local vibe we were expecting. Love the mission and in the end the food was good but nothing particularly noteworthy.

Angela Swain

Food was good! Singing ensemble was excellent. Service was slow and unapologetic. Not a lot of gloves, hairnets, or other food service attire being worn now that I think about it.

Aaron Gregory

Really cool atmosphere, jazz on Saturday was awesome! Food was fantastic, and the mission of Godly service was inspiring

Carl Collins

Always fresh ingredients & comfortable atmosphere. Vermont maple salad with grilled salmon was excellent

J Thornton

Delicious and delightful!:) Food is top notch gourmet! Attached is a lovely gift shop with unusual and special items from around the world!

Richard Flood

Comfortable, warm and inviting. The holiday rum cake should not be avoided.

Heather Whitmore

Wonderful place to go on Saturdays for a delicious brunch and their live Jazz band.

Margaret Collins

Outstanding service and food quality. Also feels great to know your helping the community by giving your business to a nonprofit organization. YES....it is a 501C-3 !

Dennis Liuzzo

I eat here with friends love the atmosphere they are always playing Christian music and have great food

Brett Sanders

Tasty and fast

Kenzy Long

I will definitely be returning here and soon! The staff was amazing, especially my waitress Melissa, who was so sweet she brought a bowl of water out for my puppy without me even asking. Not to mention the Irish coffee was amazing, one of the best I have ever had, minus the whip cream, it was a bit early for that. The breakfast croissant biscuit was delicious, I didn't even get a picture before I got into it! The bread was soft and flaky, the bacon was crisp, the egg was cooked just to perfection. I'm honestly looking forward to my next trip to this establishment.

Rachel E

Wonderful atmosphere, and great food....really great food! Even gluten free options! The staff was friendly, and the mission behind the cafe' is amazing. Providing job training, life skills training...we need more places like this! Major kudos to Cyn Shea!

Ann Vann

Southern cooking with a twist. Sweet mint tea, savory sides, sandwiches, in-house baked bread.

Megan Eller

Had Cyn Shea’s delivered this morning to a staff meeting at work. If I were to just rate the food, of course 5 stars. However, I found the interaction with the lady discomforting. Trying to make conversation with her as we set everything up I begin to ask her about the food that was ordered. Inquiring specifically about the grits casserole, I ask her if it’s comparable to city grits at another restaurant. Instead of politely responding that she didn’t know what city grits were like...instead she pretentiously responds, “I don’t eat at chain restaurants, so I wouldn’t know.” Rude. Know what you’re saying and how it can be received whether those be your intentions or not. Perhaps next time we will have that chain restaurant cater for our business

Aquita Wherry

The food was good and the atmosphere great. Love their concept of helping the community. You have to check out the prayer wall!

Jeremy Foulks

Food and atmosphere are always amazing. Not to mention we love the ministry Cynthia has in building lives.

Kaela Inman

12/1 I came in to enjoy the jazz brunch.. The musicians never played while we were here, but were present and dining. We were here for 45 minutes during prime time (noon). As working musicians they should be embarrassed as to how unprofessional they were. The restaurant itself is gorgeous but the food is WAY overpriced. It's counter service and you get your own silverware, to-go container, etc. They keep this right by the dirty dishes. I want to know why I tipped, because they only had to take our order. I also asked for a fountain drink, assuming it would be less than a coffee. They provide you with a plastic "loyalty" cup rather than a paper cup and feel justified in charging three twenty nine for it. The whole thing felt scammy. We got the blueberry pancakes (burnt) with bacon (add three bucks for that) and an eggs benedict that came with "fruit" and grits. The side of bacon is nothing you cant get at ihop. The benedict had a weird sauce over it rather than the traditional, which should have been advertised. The fruit was a grape, chunk of pineapple and piece of melon. We won't be returning and will not recommend this place to anyone. I'd give this place zero stars if I could. What a waste of $40.

Odell Eason

Food and service was fantastic

Philip Anderson

Delicious food served by a great staff in a Christian atmosphere!

Leah Moss

Odd set up if never been there. Ordering at counter, self serve drinks and silverware. Interesting selection of food, nice atmosphere inside and out. Teaching for food service jobs. Will be back.

Tony Davila

This place have the best breakfast selection and setting for a quiet and relaxing ing wake up. You must try their Irish coffee on a cold morning to kick start your day.

Brent Smith

Very good place to eat People are friendly & the food is always great.

Jenni Dansby

Great place for a quiet lunch. Food was wonderful!!

vickie wales

Wonderful relaxing environment

Tamra Crawford

Lovely place , very inviting, warm. Service was great.

Teresa Chism

Great food and atmosphere, little pricey

Emily Rogers

Very good cafe. I always recommend the Real Man's Quiche. It's a little heavy but wow, it's delicious. Large dining area with ability to accommodate groups. Coconut Cake is out of this world for a treat.

Darlyze Calixte

Honestly one of my favorite places to have brunch on Saturday’s. Their tilapia etoufee is simply to die for and they really do have the best cornbread in Huntsville. I wish the fruit had more variety so if you’re ordering a fruit bowl, just know it’s more of a fruit cup with your regular grapes, honeydew, and cantaloupe, nothing amazing. Overall the food is pretty good and they always have really great desserts on display.
