If you have a used car that’s already showing some wear, this car wash is TOTALLY fine. Often, over the years, I ran my 10 year old coupe through... and if the car wasn’t clean on the first trip they would let me take it through a second time. It’s on my way to and from work and I was so happy when they opened! I love their free vacuum cleaners for self use, and up until a few months ago, I was there cleaning one of our family cars once a week.
IF YOUR CAR IS NEW... don’t bother!
The self guided wash track scratched the rims on my brand new car when it was only two weeks old. My husband and I were so sad and I felt like an idiot for damaging our new car On the first trip through the car wash outside of a dealership. I followed the wash directions, so it was not my fault.
Worse, the owner led my husband to believe we would be compensated and set up meetings to discuss the damage, review video footage, and review the possibilities. This guy was just wasting our time, and claimed his car wash couldn’t have damaged my car. One of their cameras was conveniently broken, so they relied on the lack of close up photographs to avoid liability. The employees ignored me when I was complaining at the car wash initially and one hit my windshield with a mop handle as he was pre-washing the car. The whole experience was terrible!
Now that I have discussed this incident with other people in the area, I know the same wheel damage happened to several rims on new cars. Save your new car! Drive to Eclipse in Edwardsville, the vacuums and carwash are more effective and the ownership is much more professional! Better yet, avoid those self guided washes all together!
