Uggghhh! I hate car dealerships but love my new CROSSTREK! They do have a large inventory here, which is something other Subaru dealerships in the area seem to have a problem with. Overall, if you have time, shop around for a better deal. If not, you'll still end up with something you LOVE!

I've had worse experiences at a dealership but I can't remember when. I've wanted to trade my Avalanche for a Cadillac EXT for some time. My wife saw one at RCS and said it's the year and color your looking for. With high expectations I grabbed my title and check book headed to RCS. I was taken aback by the salesperson when she quoted me a price 3K higher than listed price on the web. I didn't let that discourage me though. I was also concerned about missing information on the CARFAX report. My wife was the first to open the door and noticed that it belonged to a smoker. Now, I'm a bit discouraged. The salesperson must have sensed my disappointment and excused herself and said someone else would be out to help us. The second salesman admitted that he knew nothing about a Cadillac much less this Cadillac as he had never been in one but did offer us a test drive. After driving 90 miles I felt that that I should give it a try. He led us through a turn by turn pre-determined course of his choosing all the while guaranteeing a great deal if we bought it today and a 99% promise that the odor would be gone. I explained that until the odor was gone I couldn't commit to buying it. Besides, I need more time to make a commit of $34K than the time it takes to eat a meal at the Golden Corral. Upon returning to the dealership he said that they would fumigate the vehicle and would call me Monday to inspect it. I then gave them my contact info. As we were leaving another salesman approached us and said he took that Cadillac on trade. If I had any questions, ask him. My question to the dealership is where was this salesman when we were trying to get answers . It wasn't until we were on the way home that we realized there was never a deal much less a great deal. We don't know if we were 2K apart or 12K apart. BTW Never received a call to tell if they were able to remove the odor or if someone else bought it. KBB states that only 3% of use cars are classified as excellent. I think the same probably goes for car dealers too.

I've always loved Subaru name brand vehicles went to buy a new 2018 Legacy all wheel drive vehicle they were $5,000 higher then similar dealerships in Columbus Ohio I understand that they must make a profit but not off one customer, the Subaru brand name though are still awesome vehicles just pays to shop around even if you have to travel a little bit further

So disappointed in this location! I took my ‘15 Crosstrek in for oil change and a look over before I drove it down to Louisiana (it was not showing a single code or light on dash) just to be safe since I was traveling with my little one. They come back with news that my transmission needed replaced and it would cost $10,000+ . I was devastated but decided to seek a 2nd opinion before going back to have it replaced. Needless to say, 2 hrs at the other location and $123.08 later, the car is perfect. The gentlemen at the other service location could not figure out how they came to that conclusion when the problem was such an easy fix.

This was my first car buying experience. I visited two dealerships before knowing exactly who was going to take the best care of me. One completely broke me down, lied about finding the keys to the car i wanted to test drive, and told me no bank would ever finance me. The other had me test driving a Crosstrek within 5 minutes of walking in the door. Not only did Kristan give me knowledge of the cars in their lot and inventory, she gave me car buying knowledge I could have even used at other dealerships. Whether it was information about down payments, how running your credit works, you name it. I could tell by the way she wanted me to be well taken care of, especially with it being my first time, I would be sticking with her. If you want a Subaru, go to River City and ask for Kristan. Tell her Kate sent you, you will not regret it.

Prices have been more than reasonable, often with discounts applied. True Subaru parts are used instead of low cost knockoffs which extends the life of the car. We readily drive in from Charleston for this top notch care and always time our appointment to visit a favorite Huntington restaurant before returning home. River City Subaru Provides an Excellent Customer Experience I’d recently purchased my first vehicle from River City Subaru, as a replacement for a 2015 Mitsubishi Mirage that I’d purchased new ten months prior that was rammed amidships as I was traveling through an intersection under a green signal light. After dealing with the insurance and the depreciation figures of vehicle, I decided that an older Subaru would be the wiser choice. Since I live more than 100 miles away, I’d initially made a couple of inquiries from their web page on the price of vehicles that didn’t result in any useful information about the cars in question, and was told later that the vehicles had been sold prior to my inquiry. The truth of the matter is that while there is a great deal of good information on their website, especially on their new car inventory. Late-model Subarus are in high demand, and they are a reputable dealer, so the cars from their lot are in even greater demand. I’d assume it unlikely that they’d have older Subarus long enough that their inventory is likely to be accurately reflected on the website. You really are better off calling, or going in for a visit, if you are looking for an older vehicle - for that matter, you won’t regret a visit to look at a newer model either. I knew Alex, the salesperson I dealt with, from a prior dealership. He had always been helpful and enthusiastic; he seems to have found an establishment full of like-minded people. All of the staff were very positive. The vehicle I purchased was in great shape, and had obviously been given more than an once-over by the service staff. They were happy to work with me to get me into a vehicle even while still waiting on the insurance settlement payment. I had been driving Subaru’s since 1991, and am happy to have moved my business to River City Subaru, after the dealership that I had been using closed down. If you are looking for a new vehicle, this is a place you should visit. If you haven’t driven a Subaru, then it is doubly so.

Went to look at a vehicle that want on the lot (used). The salesman Bryan Warden meet us in the lot. When we asked about the car he said it's in the back and hasn't been thru their shop yet. He offered us a test drive in it and we ended up buying it. The price was exactly what it was advertised at. Super, super awesome dealership. We had some trouble with a service tech the first time we went here, but when I went back I mentioned it, and they were more than willing to hear our complaints and make it right however possible. We had to take our 07 Forester in for the dreaded rusty control arm replacement, and unfortunately the front sway bar was so rusted it couldn't be removed, adding cost to the fix. I was unable to pay for it at the time. After some discussion, they were able to get it taken care of and my car back on the road. They are highly recommended, and after hearing about how they're service department is structured, I would trust them over any other dealership I've had to deal with, Subaru or not.

Called down to ask about oil consumption in a car not covered by the special warranty class action lawsuit with Subaru, they told me bring it in anyway if it failed an oil consumption test they would cover it if it passed I just had to pay for an oil change. So I set up an appointment and took time off work to take my car there. The lady at the service desk asked if I was the guy she talked to yesterday about the oil consumption and then typed for maybe 30 seconds and said “You’re not covered by the special warranty” I had to walk out before I started cursing her. So I lost half a personal day at work but I learned never to go to River City Subaru again. If a company will lie to try to get paid for an oil consumption test, I would not under any circumstances trust them to be honest about a vechile. UPDATE: Called Ms. Dempsey, she did thank me for posting this review, so hopefully they are working to fix the issues that lead to this happening.

To keep it short, the vehicle had issues that could happen to any vehicle. That being said, our sales person (Micheal Deakin), the GM (Nick Thomas), and the maintenance manager all went above and beyond to make sure we were happy with our experience. Contacted River City Subaru sales manager Nick Thomas in advance of visit due to 75 mile trip ,I was very upfront about not accepting NADA average trade for my very clean, very low miles car. He asked for pictures and details which I provided. He acknowledged the condition and stated I should I should bring it in and he " Guaranteed I would be more than satisfied with the deal he would make me ". Skeptical, I made the trip. After the "appraisal" which involved a quick test drive and no real inspection, didn't even open hood let alone send it to service dept. Or mention CPO (This was a certified vehicle). He offered me approximately $500 over the NADA rough trade in value, over $5000 under its actual value and priced the new vehicle exactly at listed price and wanted the difference from me. This was the more than satisfactory deal. Definitely not the guarantee he promised, deceptive tactic to get me in the dealership in my opinion.I knew they probably would not offer me enough to get me to trade but this offer was an insult to say the least. They had in stock the model and color I was seeking and would have bought it outright anyway had this gone differently. I have since worked out a much better deal on the same car at a different dealer, entirely upfront on the phone and will take delivery this weekend. Needless to say won't return to River City Subaru again.

Passing through Huntington I noticed my coolant level looked low --- pulled into River City to buy some antifreeze. When the service manager overheard my request, he had the tech inspect the engine, top off the coolant and sent me off with some spare SuperCool.
