Driving from New Hampshire to Canada, I had a terrifying but ultimately gratifying experience near South Burlington, Vermont. My car suddenly started to shake, made a huge bang, then loud, ugly scraping noises. It felt as if part of the car was dragging along the highway. Fortunately, I managed to reach Carter’s Cars where Kevin, the General Manager, offered to help. He immediately diagnosed the problem – the oil drip pan had not been properly secured and was partially disconnected. He quickly fixed the vehicle so that I could resume my trip safely – and he refused to accept any payment. Kevin, you turned what seemed a potential disaster into a heartwarming event. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!!

It had been a very long time since I had purchased a vehicle from a dealership because I did not enjoy the experiences. These people made it more fun to purchase a new used vehicle. This is what you want in a dealership. Over the years I've been involved in the negotiating and purchasing of multiple vehicles for personal and business needs, new and used. I've walked out of bad dealerships and on bad salesman. If you're paying, especially for something important and expensive, then you want the experience to be good all the way through. My experience at Carter's Cars was very good. The sales staff (Chuck, Kevin, & Tim) were professional, considerate, friendly, diligent, and ready to deal. They worked hard on even the small things. When I went to look under the used car I was there for they immediately offered to put it on the lift for me. That's not only transparency, that's faith in your product or the wherewithal to make things right if problems exist. I bought the vehicle I drove 5 hours round trip twice for and I'm very glad that I did. I'm very glad that this is where I did business. I bought an Outback from Carter's Cars a couple years ago. That experience was great, so after my son broke that Outback I went back to CC for another car. The car I chose had problems, but CC made good on the 30-day warranty and provided a replacement engine. The replacement engine had problems, so they found another one and put it in. Throughout the process--which was a drag but was not their fault--they assured me that I would be taken care of. I absolutely was, and I know it was at the expense of many hours diagnosing and fixing my car. My car appears to be fine now, but if it turns out not to be, they will help. A friend of mine recently told me of a place that took good care of him, and he's been their customer for 30 years now. CC has earned that kind of loyalty from me.

Well this is my second time around with carters and i can say they are like my family. Kevin is one of the best managers around . Ive called him multiple times for a rental when other dealerships wouldnt get me into something i needed while mine was being repaired! He has been a helping hand when i felt stuck, going out of his way when he didnt have to. Hes come through everytime. Not only with my rental but to make sure my suv got fixed the way it needed to be. I had a wonderful experience with this dealership. My father was a mechanic, and two of my best friends are mechanics, that said, I recently purchased my first vehicle from this dealer. Kevin, Chuck, and Tim were incredibly helpful. I got an excellent interest rate on a used vehicle (3.45%) and they replaced the sway bar links, put on brand new tires, changed the oil, and gave me an undercoat for free. I bought it recently inspected and registered, and had my friend look over it for me, and he told me they had given me a great car. I am so pleased, and 100% recommend these people.

Carters sold me my car and helped me with financing at a great rate for a first time car loan. Sales guyse were super helpfull and not pushy at all. The car has been rock solid. I had one small issue after purchase and they fixed it completely free of charge! Since then then i have had them do all of my inspections and maintainance. The service team is great and fairly priced. They even agreed to stay late on a saturday to do an inspection before the end of the month. Even if you didnt purchase a car from them they will work on your car, so now they do servince on my girlfriend's car too. I cant recomend carters enough!

Kevin is THE MAN. Came in without an appointment to check out a RAV4. Test drove it, came back to the dealership, and he had pulled out a much nicer RAV4 in the same price range. It totally won me over. Took it for a test drive and fell in love -- it met all of my needs. Took it to my mechanic to have a second look and they pointed out some minor issues with the car. Now he's taking care of the car and myself like I was part of his family. Would absolutely recommend working with this crew if you're looking for a solid used car.

For starters if your looking to buy a car you must come to Carters Car first, they have a wonderful staff. I came all the way from Florida in hopes of a great deal, as promised Kevin and Christie both delivered got me in a nice vehicle well below book value so I definitely got my money's worth. If your flying in from outside like I did they also will pick you up as courtesy and will give you an abundance of options to choose from. There are so many vehicles to choose from, Christie gave me an informative detail of the vehicles I had in mind. BEST service, beginning to end! After a long month of vehicle searching, I finally found out about Carter's Cars from Google. I had many different experiences while searching at other dealerships, most of which were disappointing. I walked in to Carter's Cars and was greeted by Chuck Lipke. Chuck pulled up a few vehicles for me that met my criteria. I test drove them all and loved the Highlander. Upon my request, He let me bring it to my mechanic to check it out. My mechanic suggested a couple updates and when I brought it back to Carter's they had no problem with doing the work, free of charge. I asked for new wipers and new tires because I am driving across country. They put on new wipers free of charge and they split the cost of 4 new tires with me. This was by far the best, most customer friendly experience I've had while searching for a car. Thanks Chuck Lipke, and Tim Westover, and the Carter's Cars crew for all the help!

Bought my infiniti all the way from massachusetts! It was listed at a great price for the actual value of the vehicle. At first I was optimistic, but the positive reviews really helped in my decision. I made the 4 hour drive down once to get the paperwork settled, and another to actually pick up my vehicle. Chuck and Tim were great to work with and they made sure I had everything settled and taken care of every step of the way. They even went out of their way to overnight me the paperwork I needed. As the CEO of a midsized corporation I can wholeheartedly vouch for the quality this dealership brings and the care they take in delivering customer service. I have had the car almost a full week now and have had zero issues even after having the car fully inspected. I'll keep anyone updated should any issues arise that might pertain to the car and its relation with this dealership. Five stars from me!

I want to share my comment about Carter's Cars service department. They recently stepped up their service by bringing in a new highly skilled and trustworthy service manager. Chad Bushway has been servicing and repairing my cars and truck for over a decade. He does great work at reasonable prices, and he stands behind his work. He has saved me lots of money over the years. Most recently, he diagnosed an electrical problem on my aging F-250 pickup truck. The battery and charging system checked out perfectly. The problem: a faulty cable -- a simple and inexpensive fix. Another mechanic with less scruples could have taken advantage resulting in an expensive repair. I have peace of mind knowing that Chad, with his quiet and focused manner is somebody that I can trust. I recommend that you give Carter's Cars service a try, knowing that Chad is leading the service department.

When my family and I stopped in to look, Kevin came out and asked if we had any questions. He was great didn't pressure us just stood back helped when we asked. I would never ever buy a car from these people! My husband and I were looking at a 2011 xterra pro-4x they had on their lot and immediately upon starting the car we could hear that the fan clutch was broken and the car didn’t have a valid inspection. The sales rep, Chuck, ensured us that it would go into the shop the next week to get the fan fixed and get inspected. Chuck called me on Wednesday informing me the repairs had been done and I could come drive it. I went to pick up the car on a Wednesday for a test drive and could hear that the fan sounded exactly the same as it did when we first saw it but they claimed it was fixed. (FYI- a normal 6 cylinder engine shouldn’t sound like a semi truck upon cold startup) There were several small issues with the car but no big deal as we know how to fix them, but the issue is the blatant dishonesty experienced at this dealership. Instead of being straight up about the vehicle that they’re asking $4500 over NADA book value for , they lied about the repairs to the car and gave us a receipt from over a month prior to our requests. We took the car overnight so we could have our mechanic look at it on Saturday. Our mechanic informed us that the repairs listed on the receipts were either not done, or not done properly, that the car wasn’t worth what they were asking AND never should have passed a Vermont State Inspection. When we brought the car back to discuss a deal and the fact that it still had some pretty major issues we were immediately met with extreme aggression, both Kevin Monroe, the GM and Tim the sales manager started yelling and getting belligerent simply because we wanted to talk about why we were lied to and how they were going to fix the vehicle and give it to us for what it was actually worth. My husband and I walked out of the office to talk outside and Kevin followed us yelling profanities and threatening to call the police, literally as we are trying to leave the property. These guys deliberately lied about repairs done to a vehicle we were seriously considering purchasing then got extremely aggressive when they were called out about it. I would not trust these guys with an oil change, let alone a vehicle purchase. We will not do business with this dealership and have forwarded all photo evidence (as well as video recording of the altercations with the GM) to the Vermont DMV and the attorney general. This place shouldn’t even be licensed to sell cars as they are predatory dirtbags.

This was my first experience with Carter's Cars, and they greeted me promptly when I arrived, had a car on the lot that fit the bill for me, and from then on in I had a smooth and efficient transaction, working with Kevin and Tim. As with any used car you have to do your due diligence. They let me have a good long test ride to put it through it's paces, I requested they put it up on the lift so I could give it a good look underneath and they were happy to oblige, and they have agreed to fix the one issue that I raised. I'm not someone who haggles for price, and in this case I was in a position where I didn't need to finance, so I can't speak to that end of it, but overall this has been a great experience so far.

My husband and I just bought our second car from Carter's today. We originally purchased a 2010 Mazda3 from them back in December 2017 to be our second car. They worked with us to get the Mazda for us at a price that we could afford and gave us an amazing deal on it to do it. They also ended up completely replacing the transmission on it a month later at no cost to us even though they sold it to us As-Is. Today we purchased a 2012 Nissan Versa to replace my 2006 Toyota Camry that we unfortunately had to get rid of due to a minor accident that pushed her into the too expensive to keep any longer category. Carter's again gave us an amazing discount on the sale's price of the Nissan, gave us an impressive $1000 on our trade, and just all-together worked hard to find us a car that would work for us and our budget. I will continue to buy my cars from Carter's in the future because I know that the staff there truly cares about the customers' needs and will never try to force you into a sale or into a car that will not work for you. They also stand behind the vehicles they sell and will do everything they can to prevent or fix any issues on the vehicle they sell you.

When I was there it was fast easy service and I found the car I wanted and I found out the payment was going to be a little high so I wasn’t going to be able to do it. They knock the price down some which reduce my payments. Also my insurance was really high. It was $151 a month for full coverage and I shopped around and got it down to 138 a month. They called around for me and found me insurance for $74 a month for full coverage. So I was able to get a Honda cross tour 2013. The cars are all Carfax certified. It looks brand new. It rides brand new. I was referred to them through a credit union. Imagine that. Sure enough that’s the place to go. I tried heritage I tried goss dodge I tried Scherer Chevrolet. What a letdown. I didn’t have good credit, not bad credit either just not enough credit. They referred me to the credit union and I was able to secure a loan. While I was there this other guy was pretty happy about buying a car from there as well. He bought a Toyota RAV4, pretty nice one. So I recommend them before you try the big ones. It’s behind freedom Nissan on Shelbourne Road in Burlington/ South Burlington. They have a great crew they stayed in touch me the entire buying time . It was all registered clean and new tires new brakes. I’m happy I’m just trying to spread the happiness go to Carter’s cars

Carter's Cars is great! I got a car from them a couple months ago, and even though I have had some issues with it (nothing because of anything they did) I would highly recommend them. They fixed whatever problems I was having with it, free of charge even though my warranty was up. They know I drive around with two young kids in the car so they did whatever they had to do to make sure my car was safe for them! Thank you Carter's cars for everything you've done for me, you've been so patient and kind with not only me but with my kids as well. My kids love checking out and sitting in all your nice cars. You guys ROCK!

Run, don’t walk, away. This place is routinely inspecting cars that are not inspectable before sale, and flat out lying about work that’s been done in their vehicles. We were recently there looking at their black 2011 Nissan Xterra pro4x. 106k miles, and it has the roof lights in case you’re looking at it. It has a busted fan clutch, dry rotted tires, blown struts, exhaust leak between the primary and secondary catalytic converters, both primary catalytic converters are rotted, it’s missing all the rear headrests, along with a ton of other issues. We originally looked at it, and told them we’d buy it if they fixed the fan clutch. They promised us (over email 3 separate times) it was going in the shop to get fixed and we could test drive it after. After confirming it had been fixed 3 times we test drove it and brought it to our mechanic to inspect it. Come to find out, they had put a brand new inspection sticker on it regardless of several issues that should have failed it (most notably the dry rotted tires). When we went back in to talk to them about it, the GM (Kevin Munroe) cussed and shouted us out of the dealership, calling us liars, telling me I didn’t know what I was talking about (keep in mind, I’ve owned and modified several of these vehicles for 12 years and had our master mechanic look it over, we were not speaking out of ignorance). We walked out because there was no need to continue a back and forth with someone clearly in a rage and acting belligerent. After walking out, Kevin waited a few moments and then came out to get in our faces again! Screaming across the lot until he was up in my face with papers he’d printed inches from my eyes. I honestly thought things were going to get violent and put myself between him and my wife and child (who was screaming because his shouting had terrified her to the point where she was shaking. He refused to leave until my wife took the papers he had shoved in my face, but not before threatening to call the police on me 2 times. I told him I would gladly wait for the police to get there so I could sign the trespass paperwork, and at that point it was clear he was bluffing, my wife took the papers and he walked back in. Since, I have reported the fraudulent inspection to the DMV and plan on providing the information regarding their lies about work done on the vehicle (all with receipts they gave us, emails and video and pictorial evidence) to the proper authorities. He mentioned several times he’d sell us the vehicle at a lower cost if it’d avoid a negative review. This man is your standard, age-old dirtbag car salesman and should not be trusted. My boyfriend Craig and I both needed new vehicles...bad! We both have what most would consider as "poor" credit...even though we both earn a very decent amount of money together. We were on our way home one day when we pulled into Carters Cars on Shelburne Road. Neither one of us even knew about this car dealership before. We always assumed that all of the vehicles in the big parking lot were those owned by Freedom Nissan. But we were very glad to find out they were there own company! At the time, Craig and I had TONS of bills to pay off and were tight on money. We thought for sure there was no way any one would finance us so that we could purchase two vehicles. We were so wrong. The employees at Carters Cars went ABOVE and BEYOND to make sure that neither one of us left without the car that we wanted!!! They did whatever they had to do with the finance company to get us approved. And guess what? We both walked out with the cars we so badly wanted!!!! Just like that!! And even better than that, putting a down payment on two cars can be pretty expensive for anyone...we needed to come up with $2000. We weren't sure how we were going to make it work. We thought "hey what if we see if they can work with us and set up some sort of payment plan on the down payment?" Sure enough, without a doubt, they allowed us to pay what we could the day we purchased them and then we told THEM what we were able to pay over the next 3 weeks to add up to the $2000. That's right...we got to pay our down payments over a period of 3 weeks. I don't know of a single other dealership in the WORLD that would do this. We couldn't be more thankful and appreciative of everyone at Carter's Cars. They made sure we were more than happy and satisfied with our purchases. Also, Craig needed to have a few things fixed on his truck a couple of weeks after we bought it. They took the truck in right when Craig asked them to. They said they would need to keep it over night. But offered to give us one of their other cars to drive as a loaner car until it was fixed. We were nothing but impressed with this company and will ALWAYS go back to them in the future. Thank you CARTERS CARS!!!! We love our new cars!!!! Sara and Craig
