I lost count over how many times my husband brought our truck into be fixed after a purchase 3 years ago from Barry’s. If I could give them 0 stars I would. The sales managers were fine at first but as things progressively kept happening they became less and less helpful and more aggressive. My husband had to sell his truck before the warranty was even up! We financed a lemon from Barry’s and they knew it. Everything except for the engine and transmission had to be replaced only a year or two after we purchased it. Just as an example the full on body rot went unnoticed until we brought it to our body shop after my husband was hit from behind. Recently the whole air conditioning system and compressor/tensioner went and that when we finally said enough. The entire brake line system had to be replaced as well!! The truck that had a warranty that we paid for through Barry’s didn’t cover half of the payments that we had to pay to fix this truck! We paid an additional 6k plus on top of the warranty! I could go on for days about all the issues we have had with the truck we bought. We trusted them and we thought they would do right by us!! They sold us an absolute junk truck.

Three weeks ago I walked into Barry Automotive- not excited to be entering a used car dealership. 4 hours later I walked out a very happy customer. Everyone in there was so nice and helpful and Alex and Jose both made it a great experience. Alex was a great salesperson to deal with- I felt like he was honest and straightforward. Not only did I get a vehicle that I am pretty much in love with, but Jose patiently worked with me to help me come up with a financing plan that would work for me. I totally felt like they were honestly trying to make this work for me, not just for them, which in my opinion is a rare experience in a car dealership. I am so happy I went there and will absolutely recommend them in the future.

Glory to God! I thank my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ for giving me the opportunity to be able to buy a 2008 Mercedes Benz C 300 from Barry’s Auto Group. My first visit to Barry’s auto was back in 2017 and since then I have been back here 4 times and although I wasn’t able to get a deal that made sense financially for my family their kindness and professionalism kept bringing me back giving me hope that they had the right car vehicle for my wife, our 3 children and myself. I commend each sales person I had the pleasure of working with through the process especially Scotty who helped me to close on my vehicle today. What’s more is the servant heart of Mr. Lucas Barry the owner accommodating my family and myself with customer service that exceeds anything I’ve ever seen anywhere else! Would give it minus stars if I could. I would never do business there again. Sold me a defective car. I reported the problem the day after driving it away (severe shimmy that was not apparent until 60 mph - test drove it in Newport at only 40 mph), and brought it back the next week to find out what was wrong. The service manager told me that they balanced the tires and it was 95% fixed. As incompetent as they come. The problem persisted and got worse. Took it to a reputable dealer who said all four wheels were bent, the right CV axle was leaking and the left CV axle was binding, and both needed replacement. This is estimated at over $1000. This was the condition of the car that they sold me. And according to the service manager, balancing the tires is 95% of a $1000 repair bill? Ridiculous! Or perhaps he knew that if he had correctly identified the problem, it would mean that the sales dept had sold me a defective vehicle and ripped me off. And they sold me a third-party service contract that does not include any repairs to the wheels or axles. I think I have legal recourse and will pursue this. Barry's is not a reliable dealer, uses deceptive sales practices, and does not stand by their product. I would not bring my car there to have air put into my tires.

Had a great experience buying our car with Barry’s. We were recommended to them from our neighbor and coworker. Scotty assisted us throughout the entire process and made it incredibly easy. My car need to be reconed and the radiator fan need to be replaced. So I drop the car off the night before. So I’m at work and my dads at work. My dad calls and checks up on the car, he talks to some secretary and she said that they were looking at the car. Then a couple hours later my dad calls the auto department and they said the haven’t looked at it. ( so basically they lied about looking at the car) and then they said the started to recon the car. So we show up to get the car and they said that they haven’t put the new radiator fan and the can’t do it because they have no time ( Meanwhile the car has been sitting all night and all day ) then the guy at the service desk was giving us an attitude and we ask for the manager and the manager was giving us an attitude. Then they charged us $250. The recon was $195 and they charged us extra for the technical program to locate the problem in the radiator. But my dad told them it was the fan. So basically my dad had to pay the full price and they didn’t put the new fan in. I would not recommend Barry’s for nothing there whole business is a scam.

They are the classic bullies who bully you into buying a car you can't afford. Even after you told them your budget. They only care about themselves and making commission off of innocent people. They are complete trash. If you go here ,prepare to be there for the whole day until they scam you into a car.

- Barry charges a 33% premium on labor over typical independent garages in the area. ( I can't say what the markup would be on parts because I bought them independently) - When I asked their hourly labor rate, their rep was elusive and would not provide an acceptable answer. - I brought my car to them specifically because they said they could do the job that day, yet they failed and held it overnight. - Their customer service rep refused to apply their AAA discount "because it needs to be put into the system before the job is completed". Why? That's a made up policy and doesn't seem like good customer service to me.

I’m going to start this off by saying your finance guy Arthur is probably your best employee I’m writing this review because after the ordeal I went though to get this car I set up an appointment because I had a weird smell coming from my exhaust I show up at Barry’s on October 31 2018. Before they even tAke the car they are trying to charge me 100 just to run a test and I’m like wait what I’m under warranty I only bought the car on June 20 2018 I’m arguing with the clerk at this point that I was told that they had recently replaced the cats and the down pipe he was trying to tell me that I still had to pay 100 again just to look at it I’m surprised because most.mechsnics won’t charge you to look at your car I been to tire pros fire stone and they didn’t charge me just to look At it ...my girlfriend calls to speak with management did not receive a call back which we were not surprised I guess if it’s not about a car sale than it’s not important but I guess repeat business isn’t what you were going for...... all in all I like the car I went through a lot of hoops to get the car but I feel like your robbing your customers if I didn’t buy a car or if my car warranty was up I could understand charging me 100 dollars but my car was not up on warranty And I only went to you to look st my car because I have a warranty and I know cats are not covered under warranty but your team had replaced the cats on the car so that would leave your establishment responsible From what I was told they ran tests on the car and the car is fine but All in all 100 to look at the car is tediculous if I’d have known that I would hav went to tire pros and they would have checked it for free trying to tell me regaurdless if I’m under warrenty I still got to pay 100 pretty unreal

My driver axel was broke the third day it was free because it was under warranty!!!I had to beg for a loaner car after being told you dont offer them... I had the car since August 8th on September 7 you told me about my registration issue which was paid on full in minutes( and I have a receipt)and that was told almost 3 weeks after..I still have an old template and you still refuse to do anything..... but it's funny how you can take your time to respond to a bad review and try to make yourself look better instead of contacting me trying to resolve the problem... like I said the worst experience of my life and I'll never recomend anyone else..

A car on Barry's website said The price was $5990. Before I begin, these people didn't even deserve 1 star. I also feel any person giving this dealership 5 stars, has been paid to do so. With that said, the salesman took us to his desk and started asking questions. I felt like I was being interviewed for a new puppy instead of a car. I had told the salesman that this was going to be a cash sale. After 10 minutes of questions, I finally asked to see the car. He blatantly said, " you had to see it, its right out front." What?? So the vehicle was not out front like he said, it was up against the building. I have bought many cars in my life and other dealerships let me take the car by myself, but here, the salesman had to come for the ride! My son decided he liked the car and wanted to give a deposit to hold it. We went back in and the salesman tells us that the $5990 is not the price of the car, its $6990! What?? Then he goes to a disclaimer that says if u put $1000 down, thats how you get it for $5990...well, duh!!! So we said no! My son offered $5500. and the salesman kept having to go talk to his manager...he was out of his seat more than he was in it....I asked for a carfax, which showed that the car had been to approx 15 other dealerships from Westerly to Woonsocket and all points in between. It showed it had a slew of mechanical fixes done at some of these dealerships. My son asked again if they would take $5500, and again, the salesman disappears for what seems like hours! Now he comes back with another stack of papers that supposedly show things that Barrys has fixed costing close to $5,000.00. His way of telling us they put all this work into the car, and can't let it go for $5500.00? Now I didn't fall off a turnip truck, We all know you own the mechanics so there are no labor fees, and you own a parts dept so that pretty much covers the costs of any parts needed. If those other dealerships did all the mechanical work that they did, and Barrys did another $5000.00 in mechanical work when it got there, that car should have gone to the auction!!! Did I also mention he said, in a snarky tone that they just got the car in and we were the first people to see the car? I found out later from Wendy we were not the only people who saw the car! Plus, if the car just came in...how in the world did you manage to get all those mechanical things fixed so fast? Lots of Lies! The salesman also said my son could take the car that night if we did all the paperwork right then....then after some price bickering, stressed that he, had to drive it home that night to get the kinks out....so which is it? When I mentioned that I never saw a car advertised for one price, then sold for a higher price, the salesman asked me if I ever shopped for a car on the island? I said, "Why, the island scams people into coming in to their dealerships by putting one price then charging another?" In the meantime my son had given the salesman a $500.00 deposit. I was getting very pissed at how long this was taking and we still weren't any further ahead than when we got there! The "manager" finally got off his "seat" and walked over to us with no deal. I told my son to get his $500.00 back so we could get the hell out of there! I also made it known that I saw many much nicer cars out there with less scratches and dents, and no burn holes in the seats for the same $7000.00 they wanted for their car. This was all on Friday the 13th 2018 On Saturday, Wendy calls and asks me how we made out...so I was sure she already had known...she denied knowing anything. So, I told her everything, and then some...all true! She seemed sympathetic, who knows? Then admits she spoke to someone and was wondering if we would meet them halfway...hmmm, didn't you just say you haven't talked to anyone? I wanted to know what they were thinking, and she told me she was going to speak to the owner to see what she could do for my son. She was going to call me back....she never called! Barrys DELETES all BAD reviews! The long waits, the lies, the scams....

Very disappointed! We waited a half hour to even be greeted by a smug, no handshake, young man! We were there with a 1 yr old and 11 yr old to have the service dept address brake issues my daughter had with a 2015 car she had purchased less than a week before!!! A family owned business such as Barry's I would expect to be more concerned about my family's safety but NO! They made her wait another hour( they knew we were coming) before bringing it into the service bay!! A few weeks later, back again for transmission issues, car won't go into gear in her driveway! They tell Her she needs to pay for the tow to their facility and no promise of a loaner!! And then, the service dept tells her she will need to pay a $100 fee before they will look at the car!! Fortunately the car was still under manufacturing warranty and the LEMON LAW applied so she got a free loaner and the issue was fixed by a certified Nissan dealer. Never again and I would discourage anyone from buying here again! New management is in order and the smug man needs to go!! My daughter even complained to the loan company!!

We really appreciated David's honesty and non-pressure guidance as we made our decision; it's obvious that customer service is a top priority there! We only needed to be asked once and if it's true that the salesmen aren't paid unless we review, that should change. This dealership is not honest. We were interested in buying a used car and were also looking for a sale/trade-in of our car. After specifically stating they would cut a check for my wife's vehicle we came back a few weeks later under clear conditions that we were interested in, at the least, selling her car and hopefully using it as a trade-in. When she didn't like the car we had been looking at and still wanted to sell them her car they refused, claiming that they couldn't because of having just purchased 20 cars. Meanwhile, they were going to just sell hers wholesale, so having another car around adds next to no cost - just profit. I can't possibly believe that their balance sheet hinges on a $2500 purchase. No. They just weren't honest about the actual purchase and were just using that as a ploy to get us to buy one of their vehicles. The second issue we had with them was their advertised prices online do not reflect what they'll ask for in the dealership. When I called them out on this their specific quote was "yeah, we do that to get people in - everyone else does it." Unbelievable. Go. Somewhere. Else.

They were there for me 100% and even helped me through tears and insurance problems. These people are you classic used car dealers. I purchased my car in a Monday and couldn't get me my car that day. The salesman Matt had the day off the following day, so they they tried to delay my pickup of the car until he was in. They did offer me a Mercedes-Benz courtesy car while I waited for my car to be ready, however after signing the paper work in the office the Mercedes somehow changed to a Hyundai.... When I finally did get the car I noticed that there was only a quarter tank of gas after being told that all their cars come with a full tank. When I questioned it I was told by the son of the owner that "thats what they do". So I when I finally got my car and drove away I smelled burning oil and it turns out the oil wasn't done correctly and was actually leaking oil. Then at 2,500 miles my alternator and battery went on 95 causing the car to die on the side of the highway. Even if you see a good looking car on their lot, don't be fooled these people are RATS.

Crooked after sighning policies. Lieing salesmen and horrible service techs are what you have to look forward to here. Sold my family a 2016 vehicle with a shot transmission. Breaks are falling apart. And assume zero responsibility. Do yourself a favor, stay away from these guys. Also, as a warning to you honest people, when they're up to no good they'll pass you from one salesman to the next to keep you spinning. But the jokes on them. They lost out on the 3 loaded SUVs I'm buying this week. I hope Karma pays these guys what they deserve

Oil change w/ filter was supposed to be $35 as advertised. Ended up to be $65, and now I can't take my son out to dinner. I could of bought oil filter and 5 quarts of oil for $45. Never ever coming back here again, just gonna do it by myself next time.

If I could put no stars I would. This business is horrible I don’t recommend anyone buying a car there. I myself am U.S. veteran who was lied to and manipulated into buying a car from the sales representative here. They put a down payment of $1000 on my financial contract for my vehicle but asked for $2500. At first they refused to get my plates from the registry without the full $2500, I called capital one finance and once they got involved after a month I got my plates. But within the whole month of waiting for the plates they threatened to report the dealer plates stole if I didn’t bring them back . Then Capital one bank who gave me the loan for the vehicle asked where the other money was going they had no idea. I was told to only contact Lucus Barry the owner of the dealership for a refund which he promised the bank on a recorded line he would give me my $1200 back since I only paid $2200. Unfortunately he is dodging my calls and refuses to cooperate with me or the bank. He is very sleezy and will lie to you to make sure you buy a vehicle. It’s been nearly a month and a half and he still sends me to voicemail and refuses to take my call. This place is beyond unprofessional. Beware it is all a front to get you through the doors.

And we LOVE IT!!! This little car is a steal, and so not what we expected to be leaving in. We couldn't be happier. We had an old truck that we had been driving for quite some time until last week it finally broke down and it was our only source of transportation. We didn't know what we would do with no vehicle, hardly any money to put down on a vehicle and pretty much bad credit. Needless to say we were screwed, at least I thought we were until we came here. They worked diligently with us and the banks to make it happen for us. They were all wonderful from the start, it honestly felt like we were working close friends that genuinely wanted to help us. They said they would get us in a car that day, and that they did. We walked in with no car and a few hours later we got to drive home in our own car. We can't say enough good things about this place. I went into barry's to buy my first car from a dealer. I was greeted by Lucas who was very friendly and seemed genuine. I was then directed to Jason who would be helping me with the car i wanted to look at. I had seen the car online and was very interested. Jason was very kind and helpful getting the information they needed while still being personable. I was then introduced to Arthur who would be my finance manager. He came off very nice and polite. They submitted my info and i wasn't approved for the loan on the original car i looked at but i was approved for a much newer car, so i looked at it. Instead of the $8,000 car i wanted i was test driving a $22,000 car. We then found out they wanted almost $500 a month for this car, after i had told them my situation and what i was willing to pay. They wanted over half my monthly income after taxes, thats insane. They had me look at a third car, and were able to get the payment much lower and closer to doable for me. I expressed that i was alittle stressed by the process after sitting in the dealership for three hours and wanted to get print ours 9f the paper work and go home to think it through. Arthur was not happy about this and started to raise his voice, exclaiming he has gone through thirty six cars and this is the only one that was approved. Contradicting his earlier remark about the expensive car. He became more hostile and angry by the second until i said if i couldn't go home and think maybe i shouldn't buy a car here. Arthur walked away angrily shaking his head. Jason went and grabbed Lucas, figuring the owner could attempt to fix the relationship Arthur had broken. Lucas was very friendly and understanding he went over the facts again with me and when i still just wanted to go home and think, he printed the paper for me immediately and told me i wasn't a hostage ofcourse I could leave. I shook his hand amd Jason's and thanked them for their help amd freindlyness. Arthur's rudeness and attempts at bullying me into a car were a definite turnoff to buying a car from there. I still consider going there but I'd make sure to request another finance manager, or i wouldn't even bother.

They took it in at about 3 the following day and wanted to keep it overnight but that didn't work for me so they replaced the hose same day. $27 for a hose and fluid plus about $250 for 2hrs labor. If no stars were an option, I would rate 0 stars. I originally had a 1pm appointment and arrived early to see the vehicle. When I arrived I was greeted by Jose who was the person that helped me set up the appointment. After a few minutes of chatting he said he would “be right back”. I still have no idea what he was doing. He told me he was checking on my credit information while I was just sitting there. Two hours had passed before I even saw the vehicle, and it turned out that I didn’t even like the car. I wish Jose had showed me the vehicle first before gathering all of my information for a credit check. He kept leaving and just letting me sit in his office, and I knew that something was not right. Eventually I told him I had to leave and never heard from him again. I actually had to reach out to him to get an update. I ended up heading over to CarMax in Cranston and had a far better experience with clear numbers and a sales associate that was attentive and answered all of my questions. Unfortunately, I would not recommend Barry Automotive Group to anyone, unless you wanted to waste your time.

Company kept in contact with me everyday to make sure I’m keeping my appointment only to find out after the 45 min drive I had to get there that the car I was interested in got sold 3 hours before I got there. 0 communication between online rep I dealt with and seller when I got there. I purchased a used vehicle from them. Within 30 days it failed inspection and they won't cover the repairs. This marks the third time I have had issues within the first month. At first the response and help was that if a respectable establishment. Now I have been 5 days without a vehicle. I have already contacted a lawyer. Beware, the talk is all talk and I was convinced by it. When you can't back your vehicles you have no integrity. When your service department repairs a vehicle and it has 3 codes within 2 weeks of repairs your service department has no reputability.

Worst service ever. I had a very rude sales man when I went to buy the car who had no interest in speaking with me until he knew I was the co signer and had hung up on me on a prior occasion, then I would only work with the finance guy who was actually nice. 3 months later the car has an issue ( I bought an extended warranty from them that was not cheap ) They took the car I then said they charge $100 to just look at it and before even saying there was an issue with the car tried saying the warranty probably wouldn't cover anything and everyone in service seemed to have an attitude. On top of it the sales man we had prior told my significant other he didn't get paid until we left a review....I highly doubt that. I would not recommend purchasing a car from this dealership. I have heard good things about them in the past but this was by FAR my worst buying experience I've ever had. If your shopping here be cautious. Update. They responded to my review below but they wouldnt take time to call me back after i asked 2 staff members to have a manager call me and recieved no phone calls and its been days. No worries you just lost bussiness but im sure your not concerned about it if everyone looks thru the bad comments they will apoligise then try and make the customer look like they were in the wrong. I was just very let down by your professionalism and business practices but thats ok i will not be returning here for any servicing or car shopping. And theres no need to respond to the review youve all said enough.... whats done is done.

David was very thorough and really knew what he was talking about - he brought me out for a test drive and really knew how to showcase my vehicle and explain all the features.
